Interested in the great technological revolution? Without a doubt, this period was a time of change. Wooden ships were vanishing, and modern ships sailed the oceans for the first time. The muzzleloading single shot rifle was slowly parting ways with the mlitary as well, being replaced by breechloaders and repeaters.
Most of the world was under the control of one or other of the Great Powers of Europe, directly or indirectly, and the United States was just coming into its own as a power.
