John Flanders kneeled behind a large mound of snow, peering through his binoculars at a United States Army road block. Multiple green-fatigue clad soldiers stood around, checking IDs on all vehicles passing by. It was broad daylight, and for once during the winter, there was a brief time of clear blue skies, and a visible sun, which radiated brilliantly onto the sparkling white snow.

He rammed another magazine home in his AK-47, and pulled back on the bolt, readying it for firing. He ran a gloved hand through his short blonde hair, took a deep, heavy breath of the dry, winter air, and spoke softly into his radio, "Begin."

An RPG was fired from somewhere across the road, from the cover of forests, which sailed towards the soldiers at the road block. Simeltaneously, he rose, and began firing off rounds at the soldiers.

(Decide how many soldiers there are, and their casulties. Generally, there would only be about 3-4 soldiers at a road block like this)

in a streetside cafe in Keijo the capital of the province of Chosen a young student read a japanese language news paper.

Aiko had a Japanese father hence her name and she remembered from school being taught that Japan had turned Chosen into an industrial nation. now a province of Japan rather than a colony Aiko knew that this city was once called Seoul.

Having finished her lunch Aiko took the paper with her and got back to her next class in Keijo Univeristy.

Martan Lacalvalier walked down the streets of Toronto. The winter chill cooled him, even beneath multiple layers of warm clothing. Everywhere he looked, pro American slogans and signs hung from every building. He frowned. He was not old, only twenty nine, but he felt ninety, as the cold made old injuries from sports he'd played as a kid, return with a vengence. That was one thing he couldn't blame on the Americans.

Entering an small single story office building, he removed his jacket and over coat, allowing the warm inner airconditioned air to warm him from the harsh cold outside.

After clocking in, he sat at his desk, and answered telephone calls for hours.

After ending another call from America about medical insurance, he said to himself, "Why the hell can't Americans just mind themselves?" He didn't have the answer, after moments of pondering, so he got back to work.

Aiko Sato got the tram back home to the student apartment she shared with her 2 female 'flat mates'.

Jun Park was Korean and Kaede Sushima was Japanese yet they all lived in harmony with each other.

Jun was looking over a text book for her politics degree while Kaede was cooking dinner. Tonight it was rice with chunks of fish and some pickled vegetables.

Kaede smiled when Aiko got in and said in Japanese "its your favourite on tonight and I got the tickets for the Rolling Stones concert in the Keijo arena next week"

she looked exicited and all 3 girls were looking forward to hearing the British group playing. they were currently playing a string of concerts in the pacific area starting in Japan and working down.

Captain Grayson Shaw watched as the last of the US weapons inspectors left the base. They had searched high and low for hours and found nothing, of course that was the point. In addition to the 30 old Lee tanks the base was allowed to have a further 60 of brand new Longstreet tanks were hidden in a seperate compound in the hills south of the base.

Auckland, New Zealand. British Naval base "Manu quays":

Comadore Edward Vincent inspected the shipyard's latest creation. even the fact that there Was a major military shipyard, and the extensive fortifications in the islands on the approach to the harbour, was very hush hush. a lot of ships were built in Auckland these days. after the last war, the Admeralty had decided it would be best to have a secondary base of operations if things went badly, and where better than the far side of the world?

at any rate, this ship was to be his command. HMS Waka. a rather ironic name, in a way, as the thing was abso-freaken-lutely gigantic. of course, over all it was also as manouverable as a brick and as fast as a legless donkey, but it could move, float, take a hit, and keep right on fireing back.

being primaraly designed for an assult role, the ship had a very shallow draft and was quite wide, ensureing plenty of room for guns and cargo. each one was designed to be able to carry a full company of barrels, two of infantry, and all their gear.

the upper deck looked more suited to a submarine than anything. the armor over the whole thing was a foot thick, and it Curved.the Waka's upper deck didn't have a flat serface anywhere, and once at sea would not have a man upon it at any time. bombs, rockets, and to a lesser extent shells, would mostly skip off of it, or failing that at least not have their full effect, allowing the armour to soak up the damage.

the downsides to this designe were multipul, of course. the gun turrets did not have the full range of motion they normaly would, as they were fitted into the over all hull armor. as a result, they were more neumerous, but smaller. each side of the ship had 8, two ford and two aft of the bridge. each turret had only two guns, as well. of course, each one had a ten inch riffled barral, which helped.

the ship's superstructure it's self rose a mear two decks above the main deck. of that, the lower one regestered from the outside as little more than a deformity in the shape, as the armor rose up and joined the superstructure at the meeting of the two. the top of the super structure was armored as the rest of the ship. there was a small gap there where a determend pilot or gunner Could put a round. of course, an artillary shell would be hard pressed to get the angle, and an aircraft would have to fly in over the main deck, where they would find an interesting surprise.

the Waka didn't carry anti-aircraft guns, as they would represent too big a gap in the armor. what it Did carry were racks of rocket launchers. 5 forward and 5 aft of the superstructure. each rack had 5 tubes and the ship carryed at least 20 rounds for each. when in use they would raise up out of the deck, lifting their armored coveres with them, and fire, then drop down again to reload.

the bow of the ship was almost bullet shaped, indicateing that it was much the same bellow the water as above. the bulk of the bow was in fact a very large door, which would be opend, the uper half hinging up and the lower down, obviously, to disgorge the troops within. their landing craft were little more than platforms with a shapped bow and an engine, with armor welded onto frames on the sides, bow and sturn. ideally, the entire ship would come in very close in order to give them the shortest distance to land possible.

bellow the water line, the Waka continued to be strange. due to the ship's width and the risk of submarines, it was a trimaran. theoreticaly, being holled in any one hull would not sink the ship, nor bring it to a hault as each hull had entirely seperate engines, screws, terbines... the entire system, really.
with two thicknesses of hull, a gap between them, and plenty of armor wherever possible, as well as the same curved designe as the rest of the ship, it was also going to be very hard to damage. just in case, however, the entire thing was compartmentalised with emergancy pressure hatches in abundance.

additionaly, the waka carryed 3 submarine style torpeado tubes in the bow of each hull, and had the latest hydrophones the navey could find for her.

over all, it added up to a very nasty individual to tangle with. as the first of her class, named the "Eviseration" class, she would evade enemy fleets, reach their shores, survive costal defences, unload troops, and then give them fire support. ideally, in hostile waters, she would have others of her class with her, as well as two battleships, an aircraft carrier, and their escorts. for the moment, however, she was top secret and the only one of her kind.

Edward chuckled to himself. she was also damnably expencive. ahh, but the look on the faces of Britain's foes when she turned up on their doorsteps would be interesting.

The Japanese submarine glided smoothly thought the water toward the emerald isles, upon the first sighting of the British naval blockade the ship cut her Diesel engines and went to electric power, becoming almost completely silent.

She was only lightly armed, her purpose to supply the Irish rebels with arms and ammunition, and remain hidden while doing it. Everyone on the boat was still, knowing that the slightest noise could give them away. Slowly, slowly, they slipped right under the massive fleet's nose. In a few moments they would arrive in the designated meeting place and deliver their goods.

The Emperor had realized the need to keep the British busy at home when it became clear they would not accept the loss Hong Kong. The Yakuza where a major part of Japan's economy, and if such an important hub between the mainland and the home islands where cut off things could only go down hill from there. From that point on relations with the Confederacy had taken a back seat, mostly degenerating into lip service. From the empire's point of view the Confederacy's shaming defeat at the hands of the U.S. made them little more then a group with a common interest. Perhaps a tool to be used when the time was right.

The captain of the sub sipped the steaming green tea and watched as his men unloaded the cargo. He almost wished that it didn't have to be this way, aiding in the overthrow... or at least minor inconvenience of another civilized people. However, it was the will of the Emperor, and what the Emperor wanted, the Emperor got.

((OOC: How was that, oh and England, I'm assuming you still have Hong Kong? It was the only reason I could thing of why we'd be supplying the Irish.))

The concert begun with the playing of Kimigayo by a local band and they played some of their own songs since they were the support band.

Kaede had got 3 bottles of beer and after 30 minutes the Rolling Stones came onto the stage.

'I can't get no satisfaction' kicked of the concert and Kaede and her friends started enjoying the show.

elsewhere in Keijo city some people had not forgotten the battle for independance. the trouble was that they had no weapons to fight with apart from crude posters that they pasted to the walls and painted messages such as 'Korea for the Koreans' and 'Japs out'.

Even this cell of the Korean Liberation force was infiltrated by Korean spies working for Japanese Intelligence. Sooner or later they would be swept up and disappear like many rebels who had gone before them.

In Hong Kong, governer Sheldon White worried. the japanese were... Close. while they seemed to have settled down of late, they were still There. the King, in his infinite wisdom, and the admeralty and generals, had seen fit to defend his post with, frankly, not much. 10 LT5s, a battalion of infantry, and two light crusiers made up the bulk of it's defences. added to this were five totaly obsolete jet fighters who's only advantage was the ability to hit any enemy ships before they got to Hong Kong proper, and perhaps the ability to intercept older bombers, if any enemy were foolish enough to use them, as well as an old, and obviosuly obsolete, wellington bomber. no one was quite sure how the last had come to be there, but it was, and they had men trained to crew it. the rest would be militia, armed from the police stations when and if it became nessisary, and under the command of, well, police and firemen. not exactly solid. he was assured that if he was actually threatened, re-enforcements would be on their way from New Zealand imidiatly and would arive within a week, supposedly.

***** Northern Scotland *****

the latest prototype from project Howler came screaming down from several thousand feet, adjusting minutely all the way, it's engine still going. at the almost the last possible second, and certainly several seconds after the point when it's aim was impossible to improve further, it's piloet released it's payload and simultaniously began pulling back on the stick to level the plane out, slowing the engine as much as he could and usein the plane's shape to bring it back out of the dive. as he leveld off the second, and last, bomb dropped into place for him to do the same again. and so he did. flicking the jet engine back to full power and regaining hight, he activated his "Y-eye", as the airmen had come to call it, and serched for the next target. ahh, yes, there it was, all lit up

"control, this is Howler five-Delta-1, i have secondary target, at location 03 07 00, confurm? over."
"roger that, Delta-1. target location is 03,07,00. commence attack run when ready. oh, and the boss says not to leave it so long, Jake, we know the plane can pull out of those dives, it's a test of how fair out it can release accuratly from. over"
"roger that, control. tell the old man not to worry. i won't crash this crate. over"
"he says you'd better not. light it up! over and out"
"out"

clicking off his microphone, Jake 'D for danger" Simmons prepaired the Howler for it's next run. the jet engined dive bomber was fast, stable, and handled dives like a charm. it's air to air weaponary was a total joke, sadly, in the form of a single nose mounted cannon that over heated if you kept it fireing for more than 100 rounds at a go, which it ate through in less than a minute. anything better apparantly destabalized it though, so that was what it got.

to compensate for that, it was good for two drops a run, could carry anything from anti-personal bombs right up to the smaller nukes, though you'd have to be suicidalt to try the second with a Divebomber, in Jake's opinion. apparantly the plan was for them to carry concrete busters and destroy runways, roads, and ships.

so far it'd been proven to outrun everything else the british could put into the air, and out manover most of it as well. that shear agility and speed was all that saved it in air to air combat though. to compliment it's poor weaponary, its' targeting wasn't even worth talking about. you had to get high AND SLOW DOWN for it to be able to map the ground with it's y-eye, it couldn't see anything smaller than another aircraft, and anything moveing faster than a infantry man just blured. sadly, it suffered the same restrictions as the cannon. anything better threw off the balance or caused power fluctuations. at the end of the day, it just had to be escorted, and use it's extra speed when in "run away" mode, after dropping it's load. of course, it had even More speed then, as it wasn't carrying the weight of it's bombs.

diveing, he sighted in on his target. for this task, the Howler used a fairly ordinary magnifiying piri-scope, one end in the cockpit, the other on the bomb rack. it worked well enough too. Jake had discovered a much better use for the cannon than trying to shoot other aircraft, as well. it was very good for checking the alignement of the plane and scope. fire it while power diveing, and you would see where the bullets hit, as their speed was astronomical.with out fail, the bomb would land 5 feet "down" of where the bullets did, and the scope would show it to be so. if they Didn't, something was out of allignement. at least one other test piolet had found this out the hard way. he'd made the same check, on Jake's recomendation, and reported it to control when it didn't line up. he'd made the run anyway. the bomb rack on his plane had been warped somewhere along the way, and didn't release properly. as he'd leveled out, the second bomb had droped only partway into place... and when he'd gone to regain altatude, both bombs had dropped back into the second's storage bay, slammed into each other, through the back of the bay, detonated, and.... well, that had been the end of that.

since then, such a misalignement had been equated to an imidiate abort for maintinance and repairs. more often than not these days it was the scope that was at fault, nothing else. though once it had been the gun. another few rounds and the whole thing would have melted into a pile of slag.

this time, however, everything went to plan. finishing his run, he reported in "control, this is howler 5 delta 1, secondary drop successful, total distruction. returning to base, over"

"copy. the boss says 'good job'. we can present this design to the brass as viable and ready for production as soon as the paperwork is done. come on home, over"

"good to know. over and out."

OOC: Ladies and Gentlemen... I present to you, AUSTRALIA!!! *Roar of crowd approval*

IC:

Suffering...

There was no better way to describe what the local population had been going through. "Well, that's not all true, we're much better off if you listen to the wireless" sarcastically mumured Nick Crennis as he drove his trayback along the dirt track of his territory.

Australia was into its fifth regime under the 'Iron Australia' policy, the leading (and only recognised) party - the Australian Citizens Party, was the latest installment in the powerful fascist regime that controlled the empire. Unlike its commonwealth master of England, the Australian continent had not seen the ravages of war - sure, the "Slant-eyes" and the "Krauts" had their places along the northern borders, and rumors persisted that secret bases were on Aussie soil in the top end, but it was nothing to fear about.

No, Nick was quite unconcerned about the Germanic and Japanese influence in the neighboring countries, what concerned him was the treatment of his best jackeroos and jilleroos - his four main property hands. They were capable, they were friendly, and unlike many of their race, they were respected by their stationmaster, by Nick himself...

Only one thing went against them, and that was the pigmentation of their skin.

They were members of the local aboriginal tribe - they were black.

Normally, this would not worry the people of Northern Australia. North Queensland, the Northern territory, and a fair share of the central regions of Australia had a larger indigenous population per square kilometre than anywhere else in the nation. Nevertheless, since the time of Confederate dictator Featherston there had been a simmering development in xenophobic tendencies within the white population. They had always heard of the rebellions in the Confederate States, and the Australians had taken their own measures after a small outbreak of violence in the North in the time of the depression.

Nowadays, the entire indigenous population of an entire nation had been moved to the central areas of the country, and, although it was not openly admitted, a form of slave-trade had developed within the country. 'Black Catchers' would travel in from the coast, capture local indigenous people in traps like animals, and bring them back to the coasts to work in either the mines down south, or in the other forced labour activities that the white population refused to acknowledge as something they could do...

Rumours abounded of 'abbo hunts'... people actively going out with no purpose than to actually 'hunt' the indigenous population... hunt people... but they were, of course, only rumors.

"Sick activity" Nick said, unlike a majority of Australians, Nick was among the small groups of whites who actively worked alongside the aboriginal population, he was also an educated man, he had been outside of the country, and, unlike many, he had actually studied history through both sides of the looking glass... he had been one of the rare few lucky enough to study in Germany in the immediate days after the cease-fire in '49, staying just long enough to complete his degree in history and arts before the iron clasps of the Iron Australia policy had come into effect.

He knew of the rank heart of commonwealth politics, had seen photos of the horrors of Featherstons camps, and had seen the vivid examples of how his own nation was just as bad.

He had decided to move out to the 'abbolands' as the Northern regions of Australia was called, and make a name for himself, whilst secretly offering refuge to the local indigenous population. For a long time, no one had suspeced anything...

Until today...

He heard the rotors first, the tell-tale whishwhishwhishwhishwhish of the Australian built "White Boomer" assault helicopters, then, he heard the sound of gunfire, and screams coming from his farmstead...

ooc: well, i said they had japanese mortars. didn't say anything else about it... but apparantly you Are supplying them... so, yeah. assume i still have Hong Kong and i'm guessing you want it.a potentually interesting conflict, that. anyway, more ICness when i think it up.
((OOC: According to turtlewiki you lost it, so I'm assuming you somehow recaptured it. Sorry for the short post tonight, I'll whip up something from the spec ops's perspective in a bit.))

The Emperor was tense, all the plans for the recapture of Hong Kong invariably lead to war with England. It wasn't that there was any love lost between the governments so much as the possibility of motivating a U.S.-U.K. alliance the worried him. At the moment the best idea strategy seemed to be distracting the Crown by setting it's more volatile holdings against it. Ireland was the main focus of this plan, but with sources from inside Britain hinting at the possibility of England just giving Ireland up strategists were scrambling to find another target, the most promising of which seemed to be Australia. Even as the emperor retired for the night, special forces operatives headed deep into what the Australians referred to as 'abbolands', looking for rebels to aid the empire's cause.

The five Japanese special operatives hunkered down in the small cargo plane as they approached the drop zone. The teams mission was to make contact with aboriginal rebels in Australia and offer them the support of the emperor, and all the resources that entailed. They would be inserted 500 KM due south of Darwin, and hike south until they either made contact with a group of rebels, or reached Alice springs. If they failed to contact any rebels, their standing orders were to get back to Japan by any mean necessary. Lieutenant Colonel Haru Watanabe surveyed his men, they were quite possibly the most talented people he would ever command, and he knew t6hey were ready for this. About four hours into the flight the pilot informed them they were over the drop zone and, one by one, the small team parachuted into the darkness.

ooc:... you do realise that, in the current situation, they're better allies for you how they are Now, than how they would be after any revolt?

Britain her self has undergone some political shifts since the war :)

ooc: more confusing things are knowen to man. hehe. besides, if the commonwelth is anything like it is now in our timeline, it's essentually meaningless. if it's more akin to a solid empire, Australia is going to be undergoing some fairly radical shifts Anyway, or cease to be part of said empire and thus a potentual ally for you, yes.

the 'Koseki Maru' a cargo ship was making a routine trip to New Zealand, a run it had made many times.

on board this time was two leaders of the Korean Liberation Force, Hong Li Park and Kang Il Park.

Both men were veterans of the struggle which was going to be raised to a new level with the planned terrorist campaign once they got weapons and maybe they could get them in New Zealand...
