Vespeterium Minor

We are the Cyverons. We are ageless. We feel no fear and no pain, no love and no hate. We are perfect. We will free you.

Reein Vespeterium flinched as another explosion ripped apart the bulding in the shadow of the Vespeterium Tower. 'What the hell is this? What is going on?' he demanded. 'We are being invaded without knowing who the invaders are! There are no ships in orbit. This is an inside job!'

Vespeterium Minor had been in the grip of Civil War eighteen years before, and it seemed to be happening again now. But who was it? The intelligence chief didn't seem to know either.
'Maybe it's the human resistance' he suggested but Reein waved this away. 'The humans don't have this kind of technology. We made sure of that.' Another explosion tore up the ground outside. And the alarm sounded in the room. 'Whoever they are, they've just entered the Tower.' he said.

Reein had been a soldier many years and grabbed a weapon in order to defend the 500th floor along with everbody else. After a couple of hours, the doors began to shake as whoever it was tried to force themselves inside.

The doors exploded after an hour of trying to force it. And in they marched. The most deranged creatures that Reein had ever seen, and yet the most elegant. They stood at six feet high. They were mechanical and debased, created from a black metal and yet retaining some human expression. Their faces resembled humanity, but a cold and calculating darkness stretched where their eyes should have been. They all stood to attention in perfect uniformity. The broken sound of breathing told him that these things were not machine. Not all machine anyway. A dull clanging sounded as more and more of these creatures marched in together, forty, fifty. They all turned and faced toward each other as if on parade. And then, came the last. This one wore a large symbol on his chest, the symbol of a phoenix.

'Reein Vespeterium' it announced it a robotic monotoned voice. 'You are an enemy of the Cyverons.'
'What exactly are the Cyverons?' asked Reein, clearly angry now.
'I am Cyveron Mark 1.0. In my weaker days, I was known as Michael Volger.'
Reein gasped as it dawned on him. 'Michael Volger. The human scientist that worked the human rebels.' His eyes flashed blue in confusion. 'What have you done?' he asked.

'As humans we tried to win our freedom' Volger went on in his toneless voice. 'We were weak and we were always defeated. The Arborians always defeated us. We are greater in number but you are greater in technology. We were weak and I made us strong. We are no longer humans. Humans are weak. Their bodies are fragile. Their emotions make them hesitant. We are the Cyverons.' He put his hand to his chest in a robotic movement. 'You are an enemy of the Cyverons.' He repeated.

'How do you have so many units?' asked Reein in dismay. 'You can't just build a working army overnight.'
'Negative.' Volger answered. 'You cannot. We can. We have saved the human population of Arborius. We saved them from their weakness.'
'What do you mean?' asked Reein.
'They are now one with the Cyverons. We saved them. You are an enemy of the Cyverons. You are defeated. All Arborians will be eliminated.' He put his hand to his chest again, signalling to the Phoenix symbol before turning and marching out of the building. The remaining Cyverons turned, and began to fire on the survivors.

We are the Cyverons. We are now the supreme authority on the planet of Arborius. Humans all over the Galaxy are weak, and we will save them from their humanity. We are open to alliance with non-human elements. All those that oppose us must be removed. I am Cyveron 1.0. We will free you.
