A Griffincrest Oil Inc base camp, with enough supplies to last a few years, has suddenly stopped sending back signals to the HQ in Paradise City. All nearby tankers have tried to establish communication with them and failed. The last known message from the base seemed to be one of panic. It sounded like a disease had spread through the camp. To be sure that these men are not alive, and to get back the supplies, a group of Griffincrest mercenaries, a supervisor from G.B.C.S. and a Beiraqi observer were sent to find the camp and figure out what happened.

Antartica
2500 hours

The lead mercenary, a man named Lucius Bonedagger, hops of the helicopter a few hundred yards from the camp, and the rest follow suit. The G36E’s of the men in the group were equipped with green laser pointers, which cut through the snow. One hit something briefly, but the men did not realize, and kept moving. They were soon nearing the base, which looked as if it had been through hell. Several buildings had collapsed, and a small fire was still ongoing near an oil container. Lucius quickly got into the first barracks. There was a spatter of blood up against the wall, but oddly no bodies. They continued through till they came upon the officers room, which was locked. Lucius fired a burst into the doorknob, and threw the door open. Inside, he found the base commander, an ex-Kraven kriegsmarine who refused to tell anyone but the direct employer his real name. He sat in a chair, alone. Both of his wrists were slashed, as was his throat. Suicide.

Alex appeared behind the man, looking at the girsly scene just for a scond or two before saying -"Sir, we found something you might find interesting, follow me to the Mess Hall"- He unslung his FN SCAR: Mark 17 and went outside.

Inside an alien ship, buried under eight hundred years worth of snow and ice, Laksi slumbered, oblivious to the world. Next to his hybernation pod were a row of others, each containing a form slumped forward. Almost all of them were dead, due to the catastrophic landing.

Laksi did not dream, the hybernation chamber had placed his mind into stasis along with the rest of his body. So Laksi slumbered on.

"This is Shadow-three. Subject has found something."

Wearing white suits in contrast to the usual black, five figures stood up various points on the hills surrounding the complex and moved downwards, thermal goggles pinpointing the location of each guard, especially easy in these climes.

"Alrite lets go" he said to Alex, keeping his gun ready. That guy was Kraven, they were the toughest around, what the hell happened here?

One of the Shadowmen drew a pistol and fired it into the air.

"Stay exactly where you are!" He shouted, "And don't even think about starting to shoot." He strode over to Lucius. "Call me Shadow-One. We're here as observers." He smiled, though that wouldn't be visible through the helmet.

"Now, we won't interfere, but suffice to say that if you find anything exceedingly interesting, anything that could, for example, make a Kraven officer kill himself, we'll be reporting it."

"Alrite lets go" he said to Alex, keeping his gun ready. That guy was Kraven, they were the toughest around, what the hell happened here?

Alex opened the door leading to the Mess Hall, at first sight, nothing seemed wrong, IF you didnt notice the mangled body on a table and the huge blood stains on the floor, plus the guy in cook's outfit hanging from the roof.
-"Something tells me this guys didnt go without a fight"- he pointed to several spent casings on the floor and several bullet holes on the wall -"Weird thing is, these are AP rounds, but whatever attacked them, didnt even cover"-

Chris had seen quite a few dead bodies while fighting for Griffincrest. However, he'd never seen anything like this. He held his G-36 close, as he walked past the Kraven officer.

"Sir," He said, "Any clue what the hell happened here?"

Shadow One laughed bitterly. "You think this is bad? You should have seen what those boys in Kologk do when they catch you. There's something else going on here."

Shadow-One snorted. "Look, I don't know what you're trying to prove here, but that-" he pointed at the mangled corpse, "Isn't all that bad. You can get the same effect by dropping him in a cage with a lion. Whatever did this was strong, and it wasn't taking any prisoners, but it was being efficent, not cruel. It wanted to kill him, not hurt him."

"I'm more interested in what scared these guys so much. Now, unless Griffincrest started hiring wussies since I last met, there shouldn't have been anything here capable of scaring these guys that much." He gestured to the cook dangling from the ceiling.

Alex pointed at a blood covered, steel tube coming out of the cook's chest -"I dont think he was scared or alive when the hung him..."-

"Nah. My guess is he was hanging himself when they shoved that through him. Look, the exit is higher up than the entry. Unless you figure we're dealing with midgets?"

"Well, I advise that we get him down from there and take a look at that tube. Any idea what it's from?"

OOC: Just for the record, yeah, Shadowmen are (rarely!) afraid, but they don't do cowering.

IC: "Alert. Power failure." Come the electronic voice, "Emergency awakening sequence, activated."

Laksi came out of the pod quickly, and glanced about. A quick survey of the other pods was all he needed to realize that something had gone wrong. He picked up his weapons and went to the observatory.

The window was blocked by the ice. However, a small part of it showed sky. Laksi quickly went to the next room, where the doors were. Sure enough, the airlock opened up to sky. Laksi sealed the airlock, and then walked down to the cockpit, where 'he' switched on the logs, and watched.

Lucius looked around the mess hall, sweeping his light and laser pointer around the room. Finally he turned to the shadowman. "It just hit me. How did you get here?"

The Shadowman grinned again, although it still wasn't visible. "Us? We've been here for a while. How do you think I knew about that ex-Kraven guy killing himself? We took a look around. Didn't go in here though." He waved at the mess tent. "We were waiting for you."

"So did you see what did this?" he said.

"No. That had already happened. Only significant thing was, there was quite a bit of steam rising from over there." He pointed in the general direction of the ship, though of course he didn't know it.

"Well I suggest we head over there then, lets go boys" Lucius said, walking over toward where the shadowman pointed. Other than him, Chris, and Alex, there was four other mercs and the shadowman.

OOC: It wasn't supposed to wake up yet? oops..i got the brief description of their mission but the details were few...

X-Z21's eyes shot side to side then he hit the release on the pod, it opened and the creature stepped out surveying the the area of the ship carefully scanning for other life forms then proceeded to the observation area. Somthing with the scene seemed wrong to the Alien as it strolled by the other pods which showed no signs opening. In the observation area the windows were covered with a strange cold substance, it ran it's long fingers over the window then proceeded to a control station initiating a system on one of the computers, it showed detailed pictures of earth, he tapped some buttons and it showed the postion on earth that she ship had crashed.

"This is Shadow One. We're heading over to investigate that steam plume. Over."

Laksi had found the internet. 'He' was currently multi-tasking between monitoring the cameras still functional, and reading over the internet's databases, specifically over the various nations. 'He' had also begun a list of target priorities, and was placing each nation on the list as he read about it.

His eyes snapped to one of the sensors, which was registering eight life signs approaching the ship. A predatory smile crept across 'his' face. 'He' changed form into a human form, with a strong resemblence to Halle Berry, and wearing just enough to avoid getting arrested for indecent exposure in most nations, and headed up towards the airlock.

X-Z21 continued to scan over files that contained information about earth, one of the abilitys his kind had was they could take in information very quickly only by glancing at it. The Alien flicked on another set of systems in the control room showing different sections of the ship, there was another freed lifeform on board...there was also another eight life forms approaching from above. The Alien creature knew if that being didn't know he existed it would be possible to investigate easily, X-Z21 climbed up the wall and scurried along on the ceiling towards the airlock where he would trail slightly behind the other life form.

Laksi cocked 'her' head to one side and listened. "You can come out, you know. I'm one of us." To demonstrate, she lifted her hand and briefly let it change back into it's true form. Then she shifted it back. "This is just a little something I put on to disarm our guests."

Alex nodded and signaled some other mercs to stay and fortify the position.

X-Z21 dropped to it's fleet silently cocking it's head side to side blinking, it stood there breathing heavily,

"What is it?.." the creature said in a raspy voice, it resembled a human which X-Z21 had previously done research on in the past..

The Alien appeared confused by the human form but took in all information very quickly noticing weaknesses in the layer of rubber type material(Skin) covering the harder part(Bones) of the life form. X-Z21 approached then asked another question,

"Earth?"

OOC: Just thought i would explain my description a bit, none of us here are idiots of course just felt it nessasary to do so.

"Look, I'm a Kio, all right? I'm sure you know what that means. Your people have very good memories, if mine serves correct. You're X-Z21, right? My name's Laksi. And yeah, this is Earth. I've been looking at the logs, and it looked like our ship clipped an asteroid on the way in and we crashed."

X-Z21 nodded once to show he knew what Laksi was talking about, the alien lifted it's head towards the airlock then replyed,

"Humans approach...you have taken their form, i will guard the ship.."

The creature slowly moved backwards down the hallway into the darkness eyes still visibly glowing brightly and it's tall figure still visible, as it got slightly further away the light the eyes gave off suddenly stopped, the alien had dissapeared for the time being. X-Z21 went by all the other pods investigating the status of the others of his kind, it was not suprizing the others had not made it through the crash.

The Alien returned to the observation room where it studied the incomming lifeforms on the monitor.

Alex waited for someone to bring a Snowcat or something, it was freezing cold and the... whatever they were looking for was still far away...

Laksi nodded and stood in the room outside of the airlock, 'her' keen ears searching for the sound of the outer door opening.

OOC: Right. Which is why I'm familiar with the metric system. If it helps, a yard is somewhat less than a meter.

Alex caught up with the Shadow dude -"So, what do you think this... thing we are looking for is?"-

Shadow-One shrugged. "Whatever it is, it's strong. That usually means big, too. Didn't look like a firefight, so it's probably not going to be armed. Ugly as sin, too." He glanced ahead. "Judging by the steam plume, whatever it came out of is warm, too, so it's probably not having the best time ever with this cold. Of course, that's almost all conjecture."

X-Z21 tapped some buttons on a control pannel near by the one it concentraited on, after selecting afew different choices voices came through the peice of equipment so X-Z21 could hear the conversation the approaching humans could have possibly been having. He listened to the words with great interest, they started making sence to him after only afew minutes, he pressed a green see through button on the control pannel, in a raspy voice the creature said over an intercomm,

"X-Z21 has managed to get the system back on board, X-Z21 also hears the conversations of humans..the number two has seperated from the group and move towards us.."

The alien flicked afew more switches shutting down all the lights and systems in the ship except for the ones it was using,

"I hope their night vision is good as ours ha."

It let out an evil chuckle,

"Eh ha ha..haa" then took a deep raspy breath...

Laksi took a moment to adjust her eyes to the dimness. Since the airlock let in light from the outside, she didn't particularly worry about losing the effect of her appearance. "You know, X, I'm starting to like the way you think," she said, pressing the intercom. "Did you say that there were two of them coming this way?"

Suddenly, Alex fell to the floor, slwoly and with a disatisdfied grunt, he got up and looked at the thing that had caused him to trip.
It was a steel bolt, coming out of the snow -"What the fuc*?"- He used his hand to take some snow off it, revealing part of... something.

"Metal," said Shadow-one, kneeling. "Not any type I recognize. It's also curved slightly. Look at this." He pointed to a section of some trasparent material, "Looks like a window. It's frosted over though. Hold on... there's something here..." he pressed a panel, and the airlock slid open.

OOC: I think we should probably wait here for the others to post.

The Alien pressed a near by button which closed the reinforced opening to the observation area, the door slid shut and locked.

"X-Z21 will engauge systems upon Laksi's request to throw humans off, decoys and such..humans are not very intelligent, X-Z21 knows this to be fact due to research"

"What the fuck?" Lucius said. He saw the airlock slide open. "Well, send two men in there" he said, tossing a smoke grenade in. One of the Mercs went in, waiting for another to join him.

Alex put his backpack on the floor, and took out a flashlight, night vision googles and several flares, then he handed some of them to his mates.
-"Hey, shadow dude, can you keep and eye on my pack?"- he pointed at the MOLLE -"My wallet's in there"-

Perspective one

Shadow-One ignored the bickering pair and stepped through the airlock. He flicked his goggles from infrared to night vision. Shortly after he stepped through, a very attractive young woman, by no means dressed for the climate, ran into the room from a side door, threw her arms around his neck, and buried her sobbing face in his chest.

Barely audible through her tears were a few phrases, such as "not human" "experiments" and "please help". Akwardly, this being one of the few situations his training hadn't covered, Shadow-One patted her on the back, and looked to the others.

Perspective Two

"I'm going in X," announced Laksi, and then ran into the room. Picking the first human 'she' saw- at least, he was presumably human, the white suit made it hard to tell- she ran up to him, and pressed her head to his chest, doing her best impression of a crying human. She threw a few words into the mix, to add to their confusion.

The mercenary in the ship walked about 10 feet ahead of Alex and Chris, looking around nervously with the light on the end of his gun. Above ground, Lucius looked at the woman. What the fuck? he thought. "What happened to your clothes, ma'am?" he said after a minute.

Laksi chuckled inside 'her' head. Trust that to be the first thing a human would notice. "I... I was out clubbing," she stammered, stepping away from Shadow-one, her eyes darting back and forth, making a quick inventory of the mercenaries numbers, and positions.

Suddenly, she lunged forward, transforming her left arm into a blade, and aiming it directly at Lucius's chest. She did a back flip, out through the open door, and hit a panel which slammed both that, and the airlock shut.

"All yours X," she said, changing back into 'his' template form.

OOC: Puppet account. Sorry.

"Holy Sh-" Lucius didn't have time to finish the sentence. He grabbed the merc next to him, and threw him between himself and Laksi. The blade tore through the man, and blood poured from his back and mouth. Lucius opened fire on the thing. "KILL IT! KILL IT!" he started screaming, as the rest of his men opened fire as well.

Laksi winced and uttered a string of obseneties, most Kio, some Russian as a bullet skimmed 'his' arm. Then he was out, and the bulletproof wall was between him and the mercenaries.

"All right X, that's one down, and they're sealed in in there. What type of security systems have we still got the power for?"

"Fuck! We got three men in there!" Lucius shouted. "Shadowguy, you got any C4? We got to get them out"
"Hey...uh..chief...uh..what da hell was dat?" a mercenary asked
"I dont know, but it killed Joey"

OOC: Wait, is Lucius inside or outside? Shadow-One is inside.

OOC: He was outside, looking through the door. He is yelling trying to have the Shadowman blow up the door from the inside.

Shadow-One shook his head, "Stand back!" He shouted, and started firing. The bullets ricocheted off of the airlock. He shook his head again. "No use! We're going to have to find another way out!"

"Ah hell...come with me. We have to find something to blow the airlock off. Tommy stay here in case they get out"
"Alright chief"

The mercenary group walked back into the camp to find explosives, leaving Tommy the mercenary to stand guard at the airlock

"Lasers that block passages to the left and right of the main passage from the airlock, X-Z21 cannot manage to get any other systems up...no power"

The alien looked over the screens showing the ship, it seen there was human life forms on board like Laksi said,

"What would you like X-Z21 to do?"

"Just keep monitoring for now. I think I can handle them. Can you force them into the mess with those lasers of yours?"

Laksi entered the mess hall 'himself' as he spoke, and cut power to all of the doors except the one closest to the airlock.

The merc group finally came to a large clearing in the centre of a barracks compound. What they found was startling. A mound of bodies, about 12 of them, lay in the middle of the grounds, charred to a crisp. "What the hell?" one merc asked. That was the thought going through everyones head. "I think deres sumdin in da comms shack chief" another said. Lucius shined his light quickly to the shack, and watched something scurry away.

The Alien tapped away on the console, then turned on the bright green lazers at the far end of the hall towards the observation room it was in. Six lazers high moved through the hallway towards the section with the airlock at a quick speed, they rounded the corner where the intruders stood but were still far away, the gap was being closed quickly...

"X-Z21 has engauged lasers Laksi, they don't have the power to kill but are capible of taking enemy down..stunned..X-Z21 will try and scrounge up enough power to slice them in half.."

Lucius and his group entered the comm shack. Inside was a dog. A husky. There was supposed to be a number of these dogs on the base, to help haul cargo and such, but this was the first they had found. "Hey, look, its only a dog"

Alex walked down the hallways, closely followed by the rest of the Mercs and Chris, he signaled them to stop and wait, there was a light on ahead.

A mercenary, apparently Krawolski stepped forward. He was pointing the green laser pointer on his gun at anything that he saw, and he walked towards the light nervously

Jackson Chambers shivered from the antarctic wind outside the shack. He was covering Krawolski with his GLOCK 21, but he knew it wouldn't do much good, he was shaking so much...

Krawolski disappeared into the light, and Jackson lowered his weapon, sighing. He slowly looked at the dog. Chambers knelt beside it, putting his MP5SD2 on the deck and scratching it behind the ear.

As the man began talking to the dog, suddenly, it let out a deafening howl, as long, spider like legs shot out of it, and wrapped around Chambers. A number of tentacles formed as well, and began lashing out at the rest of the men.

"Hey Alex, ever get the feeling you're being watched?" Chris asked, nervously moving his head from side to side, scanning for any potential threats.

OOC: Krawolski, Inside. Dog, Outside.

Chambers screamed as he was lifted up by the thing. "Jesus Christ!"
He reached for the shotgun on his back, clicked off the safety, and started hammering the monster with shot, emptying the magazine into it.

The laser defence system X-Z21 engauged moved towards the intruders on the Alien ship, the lazers would stun them if they did not move towards the mess hall, if stunned Laksi would have enough time to move in and kill them on the spot.....

"Holy shit." Chris whispered, eyes wide as saucers. "We gotta get out of here!"

OOC: who evers on the ship should see the laser defence system comming towards them.....forcing them to run in the direction of the mess hall, the lasers do not have their full power..therefore can't kill anyone but will give who ever makes contact with them a HELL of a shock..

Krawolski walked, alone to the mess hall. He threw about the green laser wildly, hoping to find something in the dark ship. He saw something, and fired. What he saw was apparently the controls to a door, which slammed down as he put his arm back to grab another clip from his waist pack. His hand was severed. He screamed, but in the darkness of the ship, he doubted anyone else could here him.

OOC: Ahem, dog-thing attacking my character.

OOC: um, Blackhelm?

The monster let out an ear shattering screech, and smashed one of its tentacles through the ceiling. It then scurried onto the roof, and crossed away onto another building, were it entered, once again, by smashing through the roof.

Laksi appeared out of the darkness. 'He' had increased his height to seven feet, and his skin was a dark grey as he blended with the shadows.

"Human," he said, in a voice out of nightmares, "Make your peace with your gods." He transformed one of his hands into a knife, and slammed it down towards Krawolski's head.

Krawolski pissed himself. He looked around frantically, and grabbed his G36E, and began firing it at Laksi with his remaining hand. "What the fuck are you!" he screamed.

Laksi deftly side stepped as the firing began, and brutally kicked at Krawolski's remaining hand. "I am far too much for you to comprehend, little worm!" 'He' shouted, aware that between the firing of the weapon and his shouting, the others would likely be there soon.

He drew his weapon and fired at Krawolski.

Chambers sighed with relief as the thing let him go. "Thank god, thank god..." he moaned, as he panted on the floor. He slowly sat up, drew his shotgun across his lap, and started reloading it. "What... the... hell... was... that... thing?" he asked between heaving breaths.

Krawolski dropped instantly. He was already on the floor, so I guess only his top dropped, but whatever.

Outside, Lucius stood, dumbfounded, jaw dropped, staring at the comms shack, trying to figure out what the hell just happened.

Jackson caught his breath, and looked at Lucius.
"Well, you think we should go out and kill that fuckin' thing?" He asked as he slowly stood back up.

"Uh...think we should, your the biohazard guy. Your supposed to know what to do now right?" Lucius asked.

Jackson laughed. "Biohazard guy?" He sighed, Operation Raccoon, all over again. "Yeah, we should try to find the damn thing, hunt it before it hunts us." He chambered a shell, and stretched his aching back...

X-Z21 monitored the fight going on in the mess hall trying to figure out what else it could do to help the situation, quickly it went over all the systems that were still online which wern't many,

"Ahahahaha" A raspy laugh came over the intercomm...

The voices of the intruders had been recorded for future use....

Chambers looked at Lucius in disbelief. "It's a dog that turns into a tentacled monster, clearly. How the hell should I know what it is?!" He turned to his MP5, and made sure it was loaded and had a round chambered.

"So is it like, our fault. Jesus, whatthe hell were they dong out here mutating dogs? That was the strangest thing I ever saw" he said, as he walked into the snow that was now blowing fiercly. He was heading towards the building the thing went into, which was an armory for the base.

"Strangest thing I ever saw" he muttered again as he walked.

"Oh, just freakin' perfect, that thing went into the armory." Chambers paused and looked at the other mercs. "Just watch your fire, assholes, or we'll be blown sky-high."
He clicked the safety off on his MP5SD2, and kicked open the armory door. He moved inside and started looking for the thing.

OOC: Uh... Blackhelm?

Something moved across the building in the darkness. "Well, lets get some light in here" one of the mercs said, lighting up a flare. "No you idiot!" Lucius yelled. It was to late, and the merc threw it in. It set of a bunch of ammo,which began firing around the room, but none of the explosives inside went off. The monster shrieked, and a tentacle lashed around inside.

Chambers saw the flare go in. "OH SHIT!!!" He dove out of the armory just as a crate of ammo went up like a powder keg.
"Which one of you dumbasses threw a flare into a room with a few thousand unsecured rounds in it?!" He shook his head and peeked inside...
The monster didn't seem to mind the bullet holes, but it was thrashing around where the flare was touching it.
"Hey, Lucius, look at this: think fire hurts it or somthin'?" Jackson showed what he saw.
