OOC: The last land grab I did turned out really crappy. Like 12 people decided to land troops, and we ended up with less than 6 who actually did anything worthwhile. After a while, folks refused to do anything at all.
Rules:
Realism strictly enforced.
Be active.
No WMDs.
Use paintshop to mark your movements and positions.
Please give a list of units and numbers whenever deploying new troops to the combat zone.
Notes:
There are no towns or natives on this island. I left landmarks on the map because they're useful when describing your actions. Whenever you make moves, please copy this map, paintshop your stuff in and post it for the rest of us to see.
Do NOT use light green except to erase old territory/movement boundries.
The Big Island
http://www.big-island.islands-travel.com/maps/map-big-island.gif
Island Features:
The scale is off. Island length: 390 miles. Width: 365 miles.
The volcano is mostly extinct and about 3,900 feet high at its peak.
Red lines represent rivers.
Assets and terrain:
The island is heavily forested with patches of grassland.
The terrain consists mostly of rolling hills with thousands of dispersed streams and creeks formed by old lava flows.
Many of the beaches are wide strips of sand with lots of shallows and reefs.
There are rumors of massive natural gas deposits under the island as well as shale and coal.
The nearby surrounding ocean has many deep crevices with lava jets and natural heat vents.
Geological and satellite searches detect oil deposits under the ocean to the north, north-west and west.

South Port, New Feluca
The discovery of a large island not too far from Feluca itself had caused heads to turn. A further exploration of nearby seas and a flight over the island had revealed some rather interesting features.
Chief among them was the location. Placed strategicly south of New Feluca, it would make an excellent buffer and listening post for the military as well as being large enough to provide plenty of housing and resources to make it a valuable logistical asset.
A single LHA-1 Frogger (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10910238&postcount=58) amphibious assault ship was dispatched with an exploration team to investigate further.

The LPH-1 Frogger had positioned itself near Hamakua Beach. A single LCAC hovercraft surged over the water, smashed through the waves and skipped across the beach in a spray of sand.
A few minutes later, it drove between two patches of trees and came to rest in a clearing. A troop of engineers and geologists wearing forest camo BDUs marched down the ramp carrying their equipment. A squad of infantry from the 9th Marine Expeditionary Unit were assigned as protection, mainly in the event of wild animal attack.
The Felucans were beginning the process of surveying.
Jerome looked at the report and chuckled. "You'd think they would have found all of the continents by now," he said to the young woman who had brought him the report. "Stake a small claim on the edge. We could always use some new land."
"Yes, sir."
***
The ship had an interesting history. It once been a pleasure yacht, but had been comandeered by one of the ever changing factions in Kologk, and guns had been strapped on every surface that would support them. After a different faction attacked it, it was abandoned on a reef, where Kologkian Realtors AKA criminal agents working for Jerome, had come upon it and salvaged it. Now it was functioning as a troop carrier, as it laid anchor not far from the north shore of the large island.
Mialio took the small landing boat to the shore, stepping onto the black beach, and nodding appreciatively. Nice scenery. This place would be a real seller.
As the landing boat headed back to the yacht to bring some more realtors to shore, Mialio turned to his aid. "Set up a perimeter, check for natives. If you find any, do not, I repeat, do not, engage. That's the last thing we need."
"Yes, sir," said the aid, and scurried off to give the troops orders. Mialio considered. If there turned out not to be any natives, he might build a summer home here. Smiling, he picked up a rock, and skipped it across the water.

Hamakua Beach
Marine Captain Harika stood near the beached LCAC, studying a map composed of satellite imagery overlays. The terrain wasn't too rough to make good progress, and the geology and engineering teams shouldn't find their jobs difficult.
A Navy ensign leaned down from the LCAC's bridge area, "Captain. Frogger Fifteen reports a RADAR contact due south. It seems to be a beached ship or amphibious vehicle."
Captain Harika frowned under his helmet's visor. "Map." The word an order as opposed to a question. The ensign nodded and handed over an updated map with the approximate location marked on it. Captain Harika assembled two squads and turned to march off into the woods and towards the reported contact.
(This is you, Kologk. Trans hasn't arrived yet appearently. ^.^)
Johan leaned up against a tree, picking his teeth with a large and wicked looking knife. Seeing the assorted anthros approaching, he put his hand on his rifle, which was leaning up against the tree next to him and grinned.
"Hey there. You from around these parts?" He also discreetly tapped a button on his com, signaling the rest of the senties.

The Marines stood silent, their AR-1 assault rifles held across their bodies, but not pointed at the sentry. The occasional twitching tail of one or two as their blank visors turned left and right denoted alertness.
One of the Marines stepped forward, the brow of his helmet showing a Captain's rank insignia. He held his rifle by the pistol grip, pointed at the ground. His tail revealed him to be a fox anthro. His voice emerged from the helmet, "Who are you? What are you doing here? This is private property."
"That's right, sir. From here to the beach, that's about three miles, and along about twenty miles, is the private property of my employer, Mr. Jerome Hassleton. I do hope this isn't going to be a problem, sir. Shame to ruin a nice place like this here island with a lot of shooting. So, are you from around here?" Johan asked, absentmindedly twirling the knife through his hands as he spoke. "If you folks live here, we apologize, and maybe we can work something out?"

The Captain's head tilted to the side slightly. "This entire island has been claimed by New Feluca. First-finders." The Marines behind him were still looking around. The soft click of an electronic device was heard from the Marine furthest to the right as he switched his vision system to thermal, but the hot sun made that useless.
Captain Harika gestured at the person with the knife, "You must return to your vehicle and leave immedietly. This island is claimed by New Feluca. The government of New Feluca. This is not a business venture. You are now violating the soverignity of a world superpower."
Johan held up his hands in a gesture that probably would have been more placating if he hadn't still been holding the knife. "Doesn't that make this government property, not private?" The man shrugged. "Now gentlemen- er... is that the right term? Anyways, I'm sure that we can works something out. Surely sixty miles isn't going to hurt anything? Mr. Hassleton will be more than happy to pay you for it, if it comes down to that. Anyways, I'm not the one to be talking to. You want to talk to the man in charge here?"

The Felucans looked at each other again, then back to Johan. "This is not open for our negotiation. The 'man in charge' of your operations will need to consult with the government of New Feluca concerning the status of land grants or property rental. Inform your employer that he and the rest of you have three hours to vacate this island."
The Marine Captain turned and walked back to his soldiers, who in turn began to disappear into the woods again.
"He said that? Well, men, dig in, and prepare to repel them."
"Sir, with all due respect, we can't take them."
"I know that Smith. But every time a new continent gets discovered, at least three or four people jump at the chance. Unless I'm badly mistaken, which we'd all better hope I'm not, they're going to have much bigger problems to deal with than us before long. So dig in."
"Yes, sir!"
Barbed wire was strung, machine guns were unloaded from the boat, mines were layed, and trenches were dug. A delaying tactic was to be adopted, so only a skeleton crew manned the trenches, with the rest strung through the forest. It should be noted that they all stayed within the sixty mile claim.

Hamakua Beach (Felucan Beach head)
Only the gray LPH-1 Frogger class amphibious assault ship sat off the coastline. A single landing craft hover craft was beached in the grass above the tide line.
The RADAR system on Frogger Fifteen however was still going. It had detected the approach a large group of ships, and warning had been sent out to those Felucans on the island who were further inland.
Mapping, survey and engineering teams responded with extra caution while completing their explorations before heading back to the main camp, which consisted of a dozen large tents and a light defensive perimeter set up and defended by a squad of Felucan Marines.
A broadband radio message was broadcast directionally south towards the large, unknown fleet:
You are in violation of previously-claimed Felucan territory. You are in violation of the soverignity of New Feluca. You must evacuate your positions immedietly.

Captain Harika of the 9th MEU stood on the deck of the beached LCAC. The fox anthro was irritated, his helmet tucked under one arm. "This is ridiculous. The island is turning into a circus. There are reports of multiple nations sending troops and equipment here." The ensign manning the radio nodded and sent a dispatch back to New Feluca.

Somewhere in the Godforsaken Pacific
"Sir! Captain Kensington reports all damages to his Cadiz's should be sealed off within an hour... he seems eager to dive and head off.", reported the eager Lieutenant, rushing into the large, luxurious cabin, saluting Fleet Admiral Vorn, paying little attention to the others sitting in the room. "Thats wonderful... the blasted fool think's im facing Sokern alone? You tell him that if one of his damned vessels sinks below sea level, im blowing them all to fuckin' hell. Im not taking this... this catastrophe on my damned shoulders.", shouted the enraged officer, slamming his black fisted hand on the table... causing the man to his right, Commander General Hirden to break out laughing. "What the hell are you laughing at you damned maniac? It's your fault we're in this mess in the first place!", continued the irrate Admiral. "My fault? My fault?! Was I the one who sent the fleet directly into that mess of Boonies? I dont think so my friend...", mocked the General. "The Fleet! What exactly do you call your little incursion into-", the Admiral began, quickly cut off by another man, bursting into the room carrying hand fulls of documents and photographs. "Goddamnit Vorn... I think I just found ourselves a way out of this mess.", Commander General Vincent DeMarque entered the room, a massive smile on his face, his uniform tattered and blood stained... but hope for the doomed Invasion Force seemed to emerge.
The Decurion, the codename for the massive invasion force sent to complete the invasion of the Boon Island Chain was returning to Kroando beaten and battered. The massive force had been tasked with completing an invasion and annexation of the 'Boony Islands', previously occupied by VITO Allied Forces, a long time opponent of the Coalition. The War against the VITO Alliance had initially gone well, as some 2.75 Million men were forced into the south of the chain, fighting the outnumbered and outgunned Allies through thick mountain chains into the north, over several hundred miles of blasted, rocky terrain. Coalitionist Armored Forces, superior to anything in the VITO Arsenal, were of no use due to the terrain, leaving the army to fight their opponents on foot. Months of battle raged on, with the tide turning back and forth many, many times over. However the one point at which it became clear the Decurion Invasion would be repulsed was at the Battle of Iral. The massive Boon City was interconnected with islands, bridges and odd land masses. The Coalitionist Fleet was repulsed, the army trapped and for the most part, killed or captured. Decurion was before long, forced to retreat with only a fraction of the original attack force present. The Government was left to sort out the mess, paying the Alliance for the captured soldiers. The disgraced Decurion Task force was now heading home... the officers and commanders of the invasion were certainly doomed to death once they returned... but here seemed to be a way out... a loophole in their destinies.
"Yes... yes Mr. Helicon... we understand. All yours. Oil to. Not a word to Sokern... you just keep them off our backs, and the island, and as much water as you desire, is yours. Just keep those Political Pieces of shit off my throat. Alright sir... thanks alot... yes of course sir... ok sir... ill send you a post card... ha! right... im sure the Misses would appreciate that... im sure she would... ok sir... ill update you once we've landed.", Vorn hung up the phone, a private line with Richard Helicon. CEO, Owner and Founder of the Multi-Trillion Dollar Company, the Helicon Corporation. He had a way in which his pockets could be filled, and the officers keep their necks. Helicon played an... interesting role in the Coalitionist Government, and had the power to heavily influence it's actions. The remanents of the Decurion Invasion Force were to occupy the island, and give it to the Helicon Corporation as a sort of birthday present. The gift would provoke Helicon to grease the wheels of justice, and save the men of the failed Boony War. Now to deal with those who went by the 'First Come First Serve'.
The Fleet stationed itself fourteen miles off the Southern Coast of the Island, and sent a landing force to make a presence. The gray sanded beach known as South Kona was hit by the wheels of some fourty five AAV-7A1's. Some two thousand men hit the apperantly untouched beaches, and immidiately headed inland several miles, setting up a perimeter. Scouts were deployed as Coalitionist Forces landed, Halcon Stealth Fighters flying over the area to search for native activity. Weapons, supplies and soldiers were deployed by the thousands... this was not simply a fight for some territorial aquisition... this was a fight for life.

I’m Admiral Wilson Arnold of the Dominion Navy. As in the Dominion of the Transylvania. Ever hear of it?”
“The southern coast is under the Dominion’s control, Felucan. Any ship or aircraft enter the waters or air around my fleet will be seen as an act of war unless those ships or aircrafts have permission. Stay away and we will leave the north alone.”
Harika trotted up to the LCAC which had become his de-facto command post. "He said what?" The ensign handed him a commjack, which he plugged into his helmet for a replay. Under the helmet's visor, his lips pealed back from his teeth in a snarl. "That's a threat. Give me that handset!"
He snatched the radio set from the ensign and opened a line up, "Listen up, jackass. We've claimed this island and it is now a part of New Felucan Territorial Holdings. Under the NFTH rules of conduct, any foreign power trespassing or otherwise violating our soverignity are automaticly at a state of war with our nation."
He threw the set back to the ensign and marched over to the tents set up, "Fall in!" The Marine platoon was soon assembled, "I want two squads on overwatch. One squad beach patrol and two squads outer perimeter."
The soldiers trotted off to their duties.
A radio transmission was sent to the Transylvanian ship.
"Hello. On behalf of Jerome Hassleton, and Kologkian Real Estate Lmtd, I would like to make you an offer. When and if you gain control over this island, we will pay you a substantial amount to retain control of the area we currently control. If you agree, we will also assist you as you request, through our contacts in the black market, and by obtaining, shall we say, unorthodox means of warfare to use against the Felucans."

"Hey you! Get off your ass and drag that barrel to the front damnit! And be careful! The thing's filled with friken napalm!", shouted Lieutant Fredrick LeBurque, directing several infantry men towards a mound of supplies near a landing site. The Lieutenant grunted as the two men slowly walked off, dragging their C1 Assault Rifles behind them. As the officer began to walk further down the beach, an ID-57 cut him off. The massive tank nearly running over his foot. "Watch where yer feckin' goin' damnit!", screamed the man, slamming his hand against the thick side armor of the vehicle. "Eh fuck you ya grunt.", replied the tank commander as he ordered the tank to open fire on a line of palm trees before the vehicle. The large 30mm Gatling Guns opened up, cutting down the line of trees with a swift volley. The tank quickly rolling forward, deeper into the jungle. Some 135 ID-57's had landed within hours, with another 45 Kraken I's following in support. Some twelve thousand infantry were deployed over the hours, as they began setting up the logistical means for annexation. Camps were set up, bunkers, trenches and fox holes dug. Sand bag walls set up. SDCI Anti-Aircraft/Missile Pods deployed. Machine gun nests set up... it was becoming deadly clear to the troops... their commanders were intent on taking this chunk of dirt.

“Felucan? Are you still there, Felucan?”
“Your govrment’s claim on this island is not official, it is void. There was not report of this claim made by your government. No News reports or anything. If you have a TV near you, turn it to Dominion New Networks. I think you will like it.”
It was a new voice on the radio this time, sounding younger, "Uh. Hello? No, he's not here right now. Hang on.." There was a muffled yell, "said void.. on television... like it?"
Harika's voice was heard faintly in the backround, ".. that ass I said f.. and shove it up his ... *static* his mother too!"
The ensign swallowed and lifted the radio, "Uh, Captain Harika said .. no." He set the radio down and mopped at his brow with the sleeve of his BDU and frowned while looking out over the ocean. "Sure hope the 9th gets here soon."
Southport, New Feluca
Felucan soldiers were assembling infront of the Southern Command Building at the parade grounds. The massive concrete area was overlooked by the imposing Southern Command Center. Marching in formation came thousands of Felucans dressed in woodland issue camo patterns as opposed to the typical black for non-combat.
Soldiers came to a halt in division formations of 5,000 each, forming ten huge squares on the parade ground.
Smartly, flag bearers carrying the battle standards of the divisions marched forward and formed a line infront of SCC. All were veteran units with campaign and battle streamers hanging from the unit's guideon.
This was an old ritual.. a tradition.
One grizzled Gunny Sergeant stepped forward and shouted at the blank face of the building, "Requestin' officer!"
And per-tradition, there was no reply.
The divisions came to attention with the click of fifty thousand sets of heels and shouted as one, "Requestin' officer!"
The door to the building opened and out stepped a handful of MPs in full formal uniform. They came to attention, as General Dmitri, commander of the Felucan military stepped out. "Who are these people?!" Shouted at the Gunny.
The flag bearers snapped their guideons into the air.
General Dmitri glared, "What do you want?!"
The divisions shouted as one, "Sir! Hooah! We wanna hurt somebody! Sir! Hooah! We wanna kill somebody!"
General Dmitri came to attention, which was mirrored by the assembled soldiers. Officers stepped out of the ranks and the divisions turned smartly to march across the parade ground to the big grey ships waiting for them with ramps lowered and sailors manning the rails.

The ensign didn't seem to be listening any more. The Felucans didn't reply, at least. They seemed rather content to wait for support. Another LCAC was deployed from the flood deck of the LPH-1 Frogger, this one carrying food and ammunition to the beach. Several tons of each.
AT-1 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10216701&postcount=30) anti-tank weaponry was passed out among the platoon while one of the scout squads moved forward two kilometers in advance of the entrenched position. This scout squad began deploying claymore and anti-tank mines, marking them on the combat network so that the HUD in individual soldier's helmets will warn them of the mine positions.
Remote sensors (Really mini cameras set up on poles or strapped to trees) were deployed to monitor approaches.
The Felucans would play it defensively for now.

When the news about hostile forces on the northern areas of the island send by Admiral Wilson Arnold, the Count ordered another fleet to get together and pack up to leave for the island. Carry more soldiers in the area. If hostile people want to mess with the Dominion, they will have one hell of a fight to deal with.
The fleet that was being formed, which housed six Peninsular class trimaran pocket battleships (DN The Bloody Cry & DN The Black Anger & DN Neptune's Death & DN Pirate's Lust & DN The Angela & DN The Omen), four Johnston-class AA destroyers (DN The Fame Knight & DN White Glory & DN The Covert Star & DN Royal Shark), two Wixted-class scout frigates (DN Death‘s Knight & DN The Blue Chariot), four Nimitz-class aircraft carriers (DN Sóti Axe & DN Raiden & DN The Pain & DN The Sorrow), twenty Ivan Rogov class large landing ships and twenty-five supply type ships. Another fleet that had a lot of fire power and man power. They would get add to the naval forces in the area. Add more soldiers to the island. Unlike the first fleet, they would not be in the area until twenty-nine hours have passed. Four hours to load up the soldiers, vehicles, and supply and twenty-five hours to get in the area.
A few days ago...
CentCom was alight with action even at three in the morning. The finding of a new, unclaimed land usually did that to the war rooms. There was electricity in the air as people hustled about and shouted commands.
"Sir!" Captain Davidson shouted as he saluted on his way into the General's luxurious office at CentCom. "We have confirmation. Intelligence is reporting an unclaimed, uninhabited island measuring 390 miles by 365 miles."
The General in charge of CentCom paused for a moment in thought before replying, "Alright... call up the Commander."
Twenty minutes later Supreme Allied Commander Malcolm Granger III had been awoken from his bed by his personal team of bodyguards and was linked via video connection to CentCom. Both the Captain and General saluted as the Commander's picture appeared on the screen. General Hubbard spoke first, "Sir... we have confirmation."
Then the captain began filling in the details. "Sir, the island is 390 miles by 365 miles and is located at coordinates 0XZ005, 1YN003. Reports show that there are no natives or people inhabiting the island... nor any signs that they ever had. There is a volcano in the east that measures roughly 3900 feet to its peak, however, reports on its activity have yet to be gathered. The island's terrain is rolling hills, heavily forested with some patches of grassland, and some minor and major bodies of flowing water. Beaches are located heavily on the west side, though there are some on the north and east."
"Is that all?" The Commander said as Captain Davidson hesitated slightly for the first time in his speech.
"Well... no, sir," he admitted after hesitating again. "We have heard rumors, though not confirmed, that there are natural gas and oil deposits in and around the island."
"Interesting..." There was a momentary silence as both Hubbard and Davidson awaited the Commander's comments. "While drilling continues in the Antarctic for oil, and successfully I may add, we need more options. We must make a stab at the island."
"Yes, sir," confirmed General Hubbard. "No doubt other nations will attempt to seize it also, be there reasons strategic or economic. We must be prepared."
"Aye, that we must." Commander Granger again paused to take everything in before issues his orders. "Captain... write up a full report for the Leader. General, launch the 1st Expeditionary Force, put all overseas forces to Alert Level 2, bring all other Expeditionary Forces to Alert Level 1, ready the long range bombers... execute these orders."
All three officers saluted before the connection went black, after which time Captain Davidson began typing up the report and General Hubbard began issuing the orders.
Earlier Today: 3.2 Hrs from Landing
The 1st Expeditionary Fleet (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11317407&postcount=82) was only an hour out from the island, coming up from the south side. However, their destination was slightly farther north than that. The point of landing that had been decided upon was in the northwest, which they had named Freestone (Kohala). The reasons for landing there were threefold: One, recent reports had surfaced pertaining to multiple foreign forces landing on the island in the north and south; Two, the rumors of oil of the coast of the island was mainly in the west, northwest, and north; Three, it gave them a potential strategic, defensive position.
40 Mins from Landing
Five, modified XH-60 Black Hawk IIs soared across the ocean's surface, below radar level and as quiet as possible. Inside of each were twelve men from the Fox Cell, Special Forces. They were going in ahead of the main landing group to secure the LZ and to take up preliminary defensive positions. Afterwards, they would become quite handy in the dense forests of the island...
As they reached the northwestern beaches of Freestone, the 60 members of Fox Cell quickly repelled out of the helicopters. Within minutes the beach was secure and they moved out into the jungle to take up their positions. They would be on guard until the TempBase was set up and the regular guards took over.
Landing in 90 Seconds
Vice Admiral Griffin stood in the bridge of his flagship, the DDN Voyager (one of the three battleships in the fleet), as the red timer over the glass windows ticked down: 90... 89... 88...
Liberty Beach was in plain sight now as the fleet prepared to launch the landing force. As the time ticked down to zero, the 1st Expeditionary began launching its landing forces. Transport helicopters and landing craft began zeroing in on the beach and grassy land just beyond. Soldiers, tanks, vehicles, helicopters, and some small prefabbed facilities were brought in and landed.
In no time at all Echo Base had been set up...

45 Hours since setting off from Southern Farstra..
Admiral of the Fleet, Dietrich Kellerman looked proudly out of the conning tower window of his Victorious Class Battleship, spearheading the Farstran Battle-group (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=11319953#post11319953) heading for a newfound island, the Submarines of the Battle-group were half an hour in front of them, to search individually for threats.. Quite a big one too, so no doubt was in his mind that other Nations would have discovered it by now.
Due to the risks, Dietrich had the opportunity to send an Admiral in place of him, he refused this opportunity, he wanted to get stuck in and fight for Farstra.
He had stood staring for a good half-hour, until a tap on his shoulder snapped him back into reality. He turned to see a young, twenty-year old Communications Officer looking to him,
“Yes?”
“Sir, I have been told to tell you that we will be coming in view of the Island in ninety minutes. With the Landing ships on the Island a following twenty minutes after that.” He told Dietrich.
Dietrich nodded, “Thank you.”
As the Communications Officer walked away, the Fleet Admiral went onto the Inter-Ship comm, “I have just been informed that in less than two hours, Farstra would have taken it’s first step onto this new “Island”. Good work people, and let’s hope anyone already there is friendly.”
Cheers erupted on all of the ships, there was excitement in the air. This sort of thing didn’t come about often, and most were just glad they had the opportunity to take part in the Operation.
100 Minutes Later..
13:40pm.
“Sir.” The same Communications Officer said. “The ALSLs are about to leave the group, would you like to go with them?”
Dietrich sighed. “As much as I’d like to, I can’t. I have to “Stay with my ship in case of Hostile activity against the activities of Farstra.” Or something like that.” He grinned, “Ah well. Tell the ALSLs to leave as soon as possible.”
“Yes sir.”
The man bustled off to his post, and surely no more than two minutes later, the five ships were speeding off to the island that could be clearly made out in the bright sunlight. They were heading to the east side of the island, and a volcano could be made out emerging from the treeline.
Good luck Lads Dietrich thought, thinking about the troops, Let’s hope we’re the only ones here. I doubt it though.
On the beach..
The tanks rolled off the huge ships, moving to positions that formed a huge line across the beach.
Half of the Infantry had already took off into the trees in trucks and jeeps, determining whether the conditions were okay for the Tanks and AFVs to get through.
James Wyatt, the land forces commander heard his radio cackle, messing with the Frequency a little, he heard the voice of 3rd Division Infantry Brigade’s Commander.
“…Sir?” Ksshhhht, Kssshhht…
Wyatt continued to fiddle with the frequency.
“Sir? Are you there? Over”
Wyatt pulled the radio to his mouth, “I am now, I had some trouble with the frequency. How are you doing? Over”
“Fine sir.” The reply came. “About, fourteen miles into the island, the trees disappear, all I see now is rolling hills, the volcano is about forty miles to the north - west of me. Over”
Wyatt nodded, “Good work soldier, is their enough room for tanks to get through? Over”
The radio cackled with static.
“I would say so, sir. But only in single file. And I fail to see a reason for them as yet, unless possible hostiles around the island have been confirmed? Over” The man wasn’t next to Wyatt, but Wyatt could tell by the sound of his voice he was excited, he grinned, “Nope, no hostiles have been confirmed as of yet. Continue your mission and report back at 0230 hours. Over and out.”
The radio fell silent, and Wyatt signalled to an armoured Brigade commander, shouting over the shouts and vehicle noises, he said, “Tell all tanks to stay on the beach, and be on alert. Until enemies are confirmed there is no need for the tanks, the Infantry will now set up a perimeter and find another place to hold the tanks.”
The Brigade commander nodded, and made the OK sign with his hand. Then turning around and jogging to his tank.
Meanwhile, a mile or two up the beach, the Landing craft which had held the Land Rovers let the rest of it’s cargo go, the remaining jeeps, after the ones that had carried the troops into the forest, made their way up the beach, then stopping, they had to set up a temporary base.
Soldiers clambered out of the vehicles to unload the tents, setting the main HQ up, then moving to the hospital and bed tents.
Twenty Minutes later Wyatt’s radio crackled again.
“Sir, the tents have been set up and ready for your arrival. A Land Rover should be arriving right about now to pick you up.” At that moment the camouflaged Land Rover pulled up, about ten foot away from the commander, he talked into his radio. “Ah yes, it is here right now. I’m on my way.”
Just as he was getting into the vehicle, the ships had unloaded the last of their cargo and were backing away back to the Battle-group. They would be back in less than half an hour if the troops and vehicles on he beach came into difficulties.

Hamakua Beach (Felucan Beach Head)
Captain Harika was relieved to see the gray Felucan ships approaching, even if they were filled with army pukes instead of marines. The first 'wave' would consist of the 48th Air Cav, most of the artillery and air defense and some leading elements of VI Armored Corps.
Helicopters lifted off from the LPH 'Frogger' amphib assault platforms to zip over to the beach. The fronts of the Froggers bows opened up to allow the LCACs on the flood deck to surge forward, skipping over the waves to skitter up onto the beach. The hovercraft disgorged either vehicles or soldiers who immedietly began to disperse into positions prepared by the expeditionary engineering team.
A Colonel of the 48th Air Cav stepped into Captain Harika's command post, where the Captain and his handful of officers saluted. "Has the situation changed?"
Harika shook his head, "No sir. Still plenty of men and equipment down south as far as my scouts tell me. Not so much action from that private company we contacted earlier. I've put them pretty low on the priority list. As the fleet reported, there's another invasion force making landfall due west. I had the scouts draw up a list of targets for the artillery and strike aircraft."
Harika dug under the pile of maps on the table of the command post and drew out a sheet of paper about as long as his arm.
Meanwhile in the backround, more and more LCACs were landing or heading back to the Froggers to get more equipment and men to bring ashore. The warships were set up in picket formations based around the LPHes and aircraft carriers, which were serving as air bases temporarily.
Further inland, Longbow MLRS platforms were setting up. Both the standard A configuration as well as the B, modified for SAMs, cruise missiles and land-based torpedos. Alongside, Type-1 30mm and 47mm AAA were deploying to help cover the towed and self-propelled artillery emplacements.
Things were spreading out now. As well as establishing a three mile beach landing zone, the Felucans were pushing inland to set up a perimeter made up mostly of scouts and light infantry, but backed up with a deeper defense by elements of VI Armored Corps.
The Air Cav Colonel soon emerged from the command post and took a look around. Helicopters chopped overhead and LCACs buzzed past on their way to deliver men and equipment.
It was a damned fine day to be alive.
Echo Base
Echo Base was located between two large rivers, giving it a distinct advantage if someone attempted to attack it. Temporary bridges had been built over both rivers by the core of engineers, but they were also packed with explosives that could be detonated in a moment's notice should the need arise. The tents and small prefabbed structures had been set up and were now all fully operational (as was the whole base). The entire land force had been deployed with only the aircraft remaining on the carriers that sat just off the beaches and were surrounded by the rest of the Expeditionary Fleet.
The Base was heavily defended against attacks from all directions; Soldiers had dug themselves in and taken refuge in the dense forests; Machine gun nests and missile platforms had been set up; AA platforms and vehicles had been established to defend the airspace.
Patrols and scouts were scouring the area and finding the possible routes through the forest as well as setting up forward defense positions. Legionnaire S-15s, complete with a Fire Team, were deploying everywhere, forcing themselves farther inland and exploring the area.
Bridge of the DDN Voyager
"Inform CentCom that activity in the area seems to be increasing. And while we have not yet made contact with any hostile groups, we may need reinforcements," Vice Admiral Griffin stated as he stared out the window at newly taken area, Freestone.
"Sir... our next move?"
The vice admiral moved stoically over to the maps and began plotting. "We need to be prepared for an attack at anytime - that is why we will be taking the advancing slow for the most part. Take more land and fortify it before moving on. First, we will need to create a large buffer between the edge of our territory and Echo Base and then we will expand across to Prosperity Beach (Waipio)."
Command Tent
"So Fox Cell has been relieved of duty?" Major Brooks asked as he poured over the new information.
"Aye, sir."
After reading the intelligence reports from the teams in the field, Major Brooks decided to get a better look at the situation. "Load up three Black Hawks and send them northeast... low..."
The sergeant saluted before briskly leaving the command tent and hustling over to another nearby tent. A moment later, three teams of twelve men appeared in full camouflage gear. They moved towards three waiting helicopters that had been sitting with their blades spinning and loaded up in no time at all.
The Black Hawks rose into the air and when they reached their low cruising altitude, they took off to the northeast just above the forest line...

James Wyatt got onto the radio to every Brigade commander in the force.
"Have any of you found a new place to station the tanks? They're well open to attack here.."
Silence ensued, then, after about ten seconds the same voice as before, 1st Divison 3rd Brigades Infantry commander said, "Yes, my Brigade has found a space between two hills that would defend against any air attack. Although if there is an enemy and they managed to get on top of the hill...."
Wyatt interrupted, "I'm sending the tanks there, get me the co-ordinates and make machine gun posts at the top of the hills, make sure for every Machine Gun post, there is at least two Javelin LF ATGWs. I will also send five MLRS there to add to the ground defence."
There was a simple, yet unnerving reply, "Okay."
Although 3rd Brigade’s Commander didn’t know it, Farstran Submarines had found a Naval Force to the South of the Island.
Alec Tiser (1st Division 3rd Infantry Brigade Commander) shut off his radio and shook his head, looking to his Captain, Gary Madden, “Something didn’t seem right their” He told him “He seemed desperate to get those tanks away from the beach and into cover, like it’s imminent for us to be attacked..”
Gary shrugged, “I don’t know sir, maybe they know something we don’t, I fancy a bit of action though.” He grinned.
Alec grinned too, “Yeah, this place gets a little boring after you’ve seen a hill, then it’s all the same.”
The soldiers began to set up the machine gun posts on the top of four hills, four machine guns on each hill. Two of the hills were the ones on either side of where the tanks would be. One hill was in front of that, and one behind. Tiser had already ordered a path to be cleared for the tanks, it wasn’t that good, but it was better than it was before. And just as he was climbing to the top of the western hill, a roar split the silence, camouflaged tanks poured out of the forest, one after another and made their way to the clearing between the hills, fifteen took up positions at the end of the two hills, these would be the first hit if an attack came from there.
Alec Tiser jogged down the hill to meet up with the 1st Division 3rd Armoured Brigade Commander, his name was Adam Parry. They saluted one another.
“So, how are you doing?” Adam asked.
“Fine, just got the machine gun posts up. The tents are over there.” He pointed behind the eastern hill. “If you want any water, or food.”
Adam grinned, “Yeah, thanks. Your defence looks good by the way. Taking the high ground, nice.”
“Basic training, right there.” Alec laughed. “Well, anyway, nice meeting you, I better be getting back to my post. See ya.” He saluted, and before Adam could even salute back, Alec was off, again running up the hill. Adam grinned and walked back to his tank.

The time was spend well during the waiting for the back up forces to get there. Soldiers et up two more tent towns about fifty miles north-east and north-west of the Dominion controlled beach that is being call “Arnold’s Beach”, the Admiral who lead the fleet to the island. The three tent towns, first set up, are classified as Base Hope. Soldiers cut paths though the jungles to the northern tent town, classified as Big Brother and Little Brother., for the larger vehicles to drive in. The trees that were being cut down were being use as fire wood and other things.
Another tent towns was set up about fifteen miles away from Base Hope, classified as Base Faith. The Dominion had control of the southern tip of the island. The Dominion tent towns were guarded with machine gun nests with AMA7 belt fed machine gun, AMA8 belt fed machine gun and AMA15 grenade machine gun. A few soldiers were carrying a AMA22 semi-automatic sniper rifle with AMA500 series super sight system. Add to the armored vehicles around them, they would not be good to attack.
The military and navy men were waiting for somebody to strike. It was a waiting game…who will strike first and draw blood.
A day and five hours have passed by now, the island has four or five…the men watching the radars and satellite image loss count by then… nation’s navy ships and ground forces on different part of the island. Two Dominion spy satellites, which moved into place, were locked on the Felucan area of the island. Another satellite was pointing at the troops in the north-west of the island. Nobody knew who these people were. The landing ships of the newly arrived fleet began unload their soldiers and their vehicles as the ships with the cool weapons moved out and formed up with Admiral Arnold’s fleet.
On the bridge of The Enlightenment Inquisitor, Admiral Arnold watched as the ship did their jobs. He only had a few hour of sleep but nobody could see it in his face. He was a made on a mission and that mission was to make friends with the people in the north-west of the island.
He had message send to these people…that message was this.
“Friends from the north of this island, I’m Admiral Arnold of the Dominion Navy. We are holding a position at the southern tip of this island. I would to warning at the people on the north-east of the island. They are Felucans and said they claim this whole island for themselves. These Felucans are hostile or that is what it looks like for me. One of their commanding officers told me some rude things. Well, not going to tell you those words. I would like to offer my hand of friends to you. My forces watch your forces’ back and your forces watch my forces’ back. Sound good?”
Echo Base
A young soldier who was sitting in front of an impressive computer system and having only one ear covered by the headphones that rested on his neck broke the silence of the Command Tent at Echo Base. "Sir, we are receiving an incoming signal from the south. It appears the unidentified force to the south is sending us a message."
"Put it on the speakers," Major Brooks replied as he stood up and moved closer to the center of the tent. The young soldier did so and soon the message played throughout the tent.
"Friends from the north of this island, I’m Admiral Arnold of the Dominion Navy. Sound good?"
When the message ended, there was an eerie silence in the tent. Their response to such a message would be very important in the coming days and weeks. It could prompt a war if rebuked and prompt a war if acknowledged. Finally, Major Brooks broke the silence. "Patch it through to Admiral Griffin." As the senior officer in charge of the 1st Expeditionary, Vice Admiral Griffin was in charge of decisions of this caliber.
DDN Voyager
"I see..." Griffin said calmly after the message had played through the bridge of the Voyager. Another silence followed as everyone awaited the officer's response. "We can't allow ourselves to be backed into one corner or another. We will have to be ambiguous and non-extreme in our response."
He paced the bridge, holding his hands together by his back with his chest puffing outward. "Respond with the following..."
Greetings,
I am Vice Admiral Griffin, leader of the 1st Expeditionary, of the Dominion Navy. While we have noticed our neighbors to our northeast, there has been no known effort to make contact either way. We have heard no proclamation or claim thus far, but we thank you for your advanced warning on the matter. Those are words that we will keep not far from the front of our minds. On your offer for a mutual back scratching, I would like to agree, but unfortunately I am not in a position in which I can do so. I will, however, pass along the message to more senior officers in the Dominion who will discuss the matter and get back to me on our official response. However, I can say that while I can make no formal agreement to 'watch your back,' I can say that we will not be aggressive in your direction.
Sincerely,
Vice Admiral Griffin
1st Expeditionary, Dominion Navy

Hamakua Beach (Felucan Beach Head)
OOC: Updated the map with my line of advance. The two squares represent camps mentioned in my post.
http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/8519/bigisland4gh.jpg
Mobile bridging units backed up to the river and extended their folding ribbon bridges across the water. After securing the bridges into place, engineers placed markers in the form of orange flags and night-time infrared sensors. When the sun went down, the sensors would kick on and emit a ground-level (Cowled as not to be seen from the sky) infrared strobe that ran on battery power.
The bridging took place in four seperate locations along the river in Felucan claimed territory while a few miles inland from the beach, Camp Amanda. This would serve as a command and communications center, while further on near one of the center bridges would be established Camp Bart. Camp Bart served as forward refueling and ammunition depot, and would be very well protected by SAM, AAA and artillery sites scattered about.
At least a company of infantry would be in place to protect Camp Bart at all times.
Meanwhile at the forward edge of the Felucan lines, nimble little M50 Stalker (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10778756&postcount=47)tank-hunters seemed to scurry about in pairs and trios, covering each other while scouting for movement.
One patrol was tasked to approach and investigate the Farstra area, and thus a pack of four M50s stalked southwards, weaving between trees before breaking out into open grassland with the volcano visable ahead.
The M50s crept closer, until finally the imaging systems on their guns could make out movement among the hills in the northern-most Farstra positions. One of the M50s would creep along through the tall grass, allowing the gunner to count individual infantry and relay the information to the vehicle's commander, who radio'd that information back to Camp Amanda.
OOC: I have hyperlinked quite a few things, so if you don't know what some things are, check if they are hyperlinked.
Wyatt was awoken by a harsh ring of the wind chime on his tent, a logistics officer stood anxiously at the door.
“Sir, one of out satellite has just passed over the island and sent back information that you really should see.”
Wyatt immediately sat up, “Okay, give me five minutes.”
The Logistics Officer saluted, “I’ll wait out here and lead you to the truck when you are ready.”
Wyatt quickly got changed, the situation must be serious if he had to be awoken at 3am. He walked out of the tent, the soldier was waiting for him and showed with his hand were the truck was, and then led him to a Ptarmigan (http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/cs/cs_ptr.htm).
Inside were innumerable computers, all with an attendant, he was led to a computer which screen showed insane amounts of numbers, and another screen with heat-readings, the soldier say down in front of the screens and pointed to the heat screen.
He fiddled with the mouse and a blue circle appeared around some of the readings, “That’s us.” He said, pointing to the blue circle.
Wyatt stood stunned, the inhabitants of the blue circle were a minority, all across the island was other readings. Enemies.
“Do we have any idea who the other readings are?” Wyatt asked, still transfixed by the screen.
“No, I have already told Fleet Admiral Kellerman, he has sent one Astute Class submarine to check out if they have a Battle-group.”
Wyatt nodded, “Good work, could I possibly talk to Kellerman myself?”
The Soldier nodded, go to the truck to the right of this one. And sir..”
Wyatt nodded, “What?”
“These images are four hours old, it is possible that the hostiles, if they are indeed hostile, already know we are here.”
Wyatt nodded again, and swiftly exited the vehicle, Jesus, we’re way to underpowered. He thought, sighing.
Looking around outside he saw Land Rovers, just sitting idle, some with MSTAR (http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/cs/aad_mst.htm) on the back of them. He shouted to a man in one of them, “Get the jeeps with MSTAR up to the frontline infantry, keep a constant scan of the area going. Find Alec Tiser and tell him to ready his men, get that Artillery Locating Radar up there too.”
The man stood up, saluted and immediately got onto the radio to move the jeeps.
Wyatt began his movement to the next truck. A huge SATCOM was on the top of it.
Two minutes later he was on the radio to Kellerman.
Kellerman greeted Wyatt with surprise, “Hello Old chap, you’re not in trouble already are you?”
“We may well be.” Wyatt replied. “Send a message back to Farstra, we need one more Nimitz, two more LPH’s, somehow, I don’t care how, get me 30,000 more troops, 300 more tanks, Land Rovers, Phoenix (http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/cs/aad_phnx.htm), Bikes (http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/muv/muv_hdm.htm) , Starstreaks (http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/aad/aad_shvm.htm) , Rapiers (http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/aad/aad_rfsc.htm), ISTARS and, this may be the most important, Apaches, I don’t care how, stick them on a LPH or something, just get them here.”
There was silence, then after half a minute, Kellerman’s voice broke the silence, “That’s a tall order, it will probably take at least 3 days to get the equipment together and it may take two waves, and two more days to get it here. Can you deal with that?”
“I’ll have too.” He said, simply. With that he hung up the phone and walked out thinking, We’re in trouble if anyone attacks us..
On the frontlines..
Tiser was awoken at the top of the hill by the roar of the arriving Land Rovers, must have been 50 of them, carrying MSTAR to Machine guns to reinforcement troops.
The troops on shift looked stunned, then a man got out of one of the jeeps and walked towards Tiser, he saluted and asked, “You Alec Tiser?”
Tiser nodded, wondering what the hell this was all about.
The man looked relieved, “We’ve been told to reinforce you, we’ll begin unloading MSTAR shortly, Commander Kellerman told us to keep a constant watch using it, anf for you to, in his word, “Get your men ready.”” The man shrugged, knowing that Alec’s next question would be “Why?”, he then saluted, jogged back to his jeep and mounted a .5 Inch HMG onto it, all around other jeeps, having already unloaded their MSTAR, began doing the same.
Tiser quickly got onto his Bowman (http://www.army.mod.uk/bowman/index.htm) radio, to issue orders to all of the troops.
He sent sixteen tanks forward, heading for some tall grass and trees, just short of the snipers already placed. All the Land Rovers were on top of hills, and he requested to Kellerman that F-35 and F18 Super Hornets be on alert to help the troops out. This was obliged. He started his shift, knowing that, with this amount of panic, there must be unknowns on the island.

OOC: What sort of tanks are they?
Just north of Farstra infantry and tank positions
The lead Felucan M50 Stalker came to a complete halt. On the targeting system of the compact little vehicle, a ghostly triangle appeared, highlighting the closest tank up on the hill. The computer designated it as target 1-1, then the triangle moved to the next tank, designating it as 1-2. Soon afterwards, the positions of targets 1-1 through 1-16 were marked on the IVIS systems in the M50s.
Mainly, the laser designation systems determined range and position (To within a meter) via GPS and triangulation between three seperate M50s.
Near the edge of the woods, the commander of the patrol radio'd back. "We've encountered an enemy position. Infantry and armor lightly dug in on a hilltop that I am designating Hill 108. IVIS'n you now." And the Integrated Vehicle Information System relayed a signal back to Camp Amanda, where the data could be processed and redistributed to the rest of the Felucan forces.
Soon a text message was returned, "Acknowledged. Observe and report activies. Inform in the event of situation change. Defend as necessary."
The M50s settled into the high grass to watch for the moment.
OOC: What sort of tanks are they?
C2 = Challenger 2, sorry I didn’t specify. From now on I will put CR2.
By the way, I don’t know what sort of climate this is, so I added variables in the text. I’m also gonna say it is night.
Also, I didn’t know how far away your first tank was. So I said 1000 Metres.
For the Javelin, scroll down to the second paragraph.
IC:
Just South of Felucan F50 Positions.
The Commander of the lead tank stood up and opened the hatch, looking to his driver he said, “Keep a constant scan on, use the thermal imager, and if anything is found use the laser range finder. The driver nodded, immediately turning to his computers.
The commander stuck his head out of the hatch, the cold/warm air hit him hard, it wasn’t so bad in the tank, he had a heater/fan in there.
It was dark. The other fifteen tanks just silhouettes even though they were barely twenty metres apart. He jumped back down into the cockpit when he heard the driver speak, “What is it?”
The driver replied with an excited tone in his voice, even though he seemed to be whispering, “Sir, using the thermal imager and laser rangefinder the gunner discovered one bogey, about one thousand metres away, with another three one hundred metres behind that. They look like M50s, sir.”
The commander sighed, “Tank destroyers huh? Get onto the radio, we need four Strikers (http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/av/av_str.htm), about two thousand metres behind our current position, also, get two Javelins (http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/pw/pw_mat.htm) onto a Land Rover, right here.”
The driver nodded, flicked a switch and pressing a headphone to his ear. The commander once again popped his head up out of the tank. Looking towards where the enemy was. Come on you bastards.
The Strikers were given the word, followed by the Land Rover they headed to their destination, the Land Rover leaving them to carry on down to the CR2s, they reached their destination (15 miles away), after 24 minutes, the Land Rover reached the tanks 4 minutes after that.
The Striker’s crew immediately gained locks onto the enemy, waiting for the word to “Fire.”
The CR2 was about to give it, he was just waiting for the Land Rover, as soon as it came he ordered the Javelin crews to set up and lock about ten metres in from of the line of tanks, he then ordered them to fire, the Javelin rockets left two puffs of smoke in the air, the soldiers quickly reloading and preparing for another shot, the Strikers were also told to fire, powerful computers had planned the trajectory, including the wind strength. The high pitched scream of the Striker’s Swingfire missiles passed over the CR2s, the rockets were just visible as they passed over, that was enough for the commander, he got onto the Bowman radio which was linked to all 16 tanks, “Fall back to the hills!”
He then hopped up out of the tank and shouted to the Javelin crews and the Land Rover driver, “Get back to the hills, we don’t need a total battle when we are so underpowered!” He closed the hatch, “What about the Strikers?” The driver asked.
“We’ll get them on the way back to the hill.” The commander replied. I hope we’ve not bitten off more than we can chew here..

Felucan Forward Positions, Scout Platoon 22
"Flash flash!" The gunner had seen a pair of missiles launched in his night vision. The word for a missile launch was universal in the Felucan military, and the drivers of the two closest M50s threw their vehicles into reverse. Tracks dug into the ground and sent clods of dirt and grass flying as the Stalkers sped up, trying to get into the cover of the trees.
However, they could not outrun the Javelins. The missiles came down atop the two M50s and exploded just as they reached the edge of the woods. The two Stalkers and their crews were killed, while the other two Stalkers on the patrol which had stayed in the woods also began to get out of the area.
They were certain that they'd not been seen, staying in the trees and all, but it was best to clear out anyway. The enemy would likely send a patrol of its own out to investigate.
The M50s bumped and rattled their way through the forest, following the path they'd taken back towards Felucan lines.
The air was burning with radio messages back and forth among Felucan positions. They'd been attacked, six Felucans killed while simply watching over a military force that was now being labeled in command areas as an enemy, a target worthy of nothing more than extermination.
James Wyatt had heard the scream of the missiles from all the way on the beach, he immediatley stood up, and ran over to the communications truck. Asking the same man as before, "What the hell is going on?!"
The man looked as confused, "I don't know sir, I'm trying to patch up with the lead tank commander as we speak."
He typed franticly, his hands a blur. When eventually there was sound. It was the tank commander who ordered the attack, he then asked, "What is this about?"
James grabbed the mic, "What is this about?! What on earth is going on out there?!"
The man replied, simply. "We fired at enemies."
James stood, flabbergasted, "You fired, without permission from me?"
"Yes."
James's mouth fell open, "And who fired first?"
"Us, sir."
James stood, hand on his head and looking to the roof, "What was the enemy?"
"Four F50 Stalkers. A Felucan design, I f..."
James interrupted, "FELUCAN? THE FELUCAN'S ARE ON THIS ISLAND!?"
"It would appear so."
"And you FIRED ON THEM?!"
"Yes."
James told the Communication officer to stand up, just so he could sit down.
"Do you KNOW how underpowered we are compared to other forces on this island?"
The radio went silent, "I wasn't told we were weak, sir."
"What?!" James thought, "The communications are terrible."
"You didn't actually hit them, did you?" James prayed for the answer he wanted.
"We believe we destroyed two of their Vehicles."
"Six Men?!" James shouted in his head, "The Felucans aren't going to like this."
"Okay," he spoke to the radio, "You and your men bring your vehicles back, form a compressed defence between the hills, put all the Land Rovers on top of the hills and reinforce the bunkers."
"Yes, sir." Was the reply, and then the radio fell silent. James got up, and walked slowly, still stunned at what he had heard, back to his tent. "Bloody hell" He thought, "Those reinforcements better be quick."
A small fishing boat nears the island, in the hull a group of men load weapons. In fron of themt is a map of the island. The boat belongs to Frederich Tuna Fishing Company, but was being used to transport a group of mercs to the island. These men had no connections to the government and were hired by a man working in the Foreign Affairs Office of the Department of State.

Camp Bart, Forward Post
In one of the battery command centers for artillery, a sleek female fox anthro traced a finger across her computer screen. Under the visor of her helmet, she nodded. "Alpha Strike on Hill 108. Designated locations, 1-1, 1-2, 1-3.."
A minute later, the assembled artillery at Camp Bart rippled, cutting loose in a massive volley. The sky lit up, and the flying meteor shapes of rocket propelled artillery could be seen streaking upwards.
After two minutes.. a wave of sub-munitions fell across Hill 108. They were basicly balls of HE wrapped in fragmentary shells, which exploded about 10 meters off the ground.
Next came the solid artillery, which exploded in gouts of dirt and flame, drilling holes into the ground. That's the basic premise of impact-fused artillery. Putting holes in the ground.
The positions that had been occupied by the CR2 tanks when the M50s scouted them would find massive 250lb guided-munition artillery falling on them, accurate to within a meter or so at this range.
And a new suprise for this war. The Felucan's latest...
A half dozen shells went off about 15 meters off the ground. These did not explode, so much as just burst open via primacord. Out came clouds of white mist, which began to drift towards the ground. Three seconds later, four more artillery shells came in, air-bursting in the cloud of what is essentially.. fuel vapor.
In a massive fireball, the fuel caught on fire and errupted.

IC: A week ago....As, King Winston I read his daily briefing reports, a small image of an Island caught his eye. Pressing the blue button, he rang for his Defense Misiter. "Henry, prepare 3rd and 11th Fleet to set sail for this Island. Assemble XXII. Airborne Corps, take the 87th division and secure the Island and the rest of the force will follow within a few days." At that the King returned back to his daily reports.
Today....As 3rd Fleet neared the Island, darkness was starting to rise, as the sun slowly but surely faded into the distance. A perfect time for a secert landing. Orders were issued to all ships in the 2nd Amphibious Task Force (which was part of 11th Fleet) to prepare to embark all troops. By 6 P.M. the first troops were ashore, it was then that it was discovered that the forces of United Earthlings were not alone and that the 87th Infantry Division was on its own until the rest of its Reforcements arrived.By Dawn the next day, the forces of United Earthlings had secured a beachhead some 1.5 miles in area around the area of Kailua-Kona. With the first objective secured, defenses started to be built and a small outpost set up for command and control. While all this was going on, the forces of B,C and D Battalions of Echo Regiment were slowly and carefully making their way inland.
OCC: Also, if someone could add me in on the map or draw me up one as I don't have a photobuck. Thanks.

The men arrive on the island, they are to meet with the Felucans and aid them aganist the invaders. The men were armed with Thompson M1928s, and they headed to the Felucan base. The leader was Roland Fremont, Brydog's most famous gun-for-hire.

To be a member of the 16th Shadow Foxes, one must be picked to join into the ranks of the best of the special ops divisions within the Dominion Armed Forces. One must be recruited into the ranks from any of the other forty-nine divisions of the Dominion Armed Forces. Foot soldiers, support soldiers, anti-armor and anti-air soldiers, heavy weapon soldiers, snipers, etc. Whom ever they are, they must be the best of the best of the best to get into the 16th Shadow Foxes.
The training for the 16th Shadow Foxes mades the former US Navy SEALs or any other special ops team look like little kids with pop guns wearing face piant playing War. The 16th Shadow Foxes use training from all known special ops units, the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta also known as “Delta Force” to "Green Berets" to Navy SEALs to Kommando Spezialkräfte to British SAS. Any special ops unit’s training has been incorporated into the training of the 16th Shadow Foxes, making them into a bunch of the power hunger soldiers the world has ever seen. The 16th Shadow Foxes was formed before World War II, the first special ops like team used by the Dominion.
The black hummer was left at the edge of the Dominion controlled area of the island. A few Dominion soldiers would get the hummer in about five minutes. The five team unit had their helmets on as they walked through the jungle. The inner lining of the body armor did two things, keep them cool in the rainforest heat and help block out their body heat. Meaning one thing, they are ghosts to spy planes and spy satellites above. Only way to see them is, if they take the armor off or have a fight-fire with the enemy.
Priest had a AMA22 semi-automatic sniper rifle with a AMA500 series super sight system and a silencer over his right shoulder and his G4 in his hands. The unit with Priest and Reinhardt in front five feet apart, Verlaine in the middle six feet behind the other two and six feet behind was the Nightmare twins at the rear five feet apart. The five spec ops soldiers carried small packs that held everything they need to survive on. Med kits, extra ammo, C4, grenades, mines, etc.
“Passing the half a mile mark…now.” said Priest in his radio.
“Copy that, Priest.” said Verlaine. The unit moved forwards through the jungle.
Near the Felucan base
The 6 men decided to camp out, they had about 25 more miles to go. The men cleaned their weapons and checked their ammo count. Roland wondered why the didn't get a vehicle for the job. They were going to meet a lot of intresting people, some would face his gun. He were lighty armed and were carrying only the basics they needed. They found a tree and climbed into it to sleep.
Brilliant progress had been made by the expansion teams tasked with creating a larger buffer zone between Echo Base and the perimeter as well as securing a line to Prosperity Beach (Waipio). They had met no resistance along the way and while the forest was dense, paths could be found by the vanguard and when they were, they were marked on the VCCS for the rest of the team to see. As they progressed cameras, mines, and sensors were dropped "randomly" through the area and marked for the entire force to see.
They had made it across to Prosperity Beach within a few hours and began setting up a mini-camp. It was just a basic camp to oversee the beach and coast. About eighty soldiers in total with a few vehicles and a small weapon cache.
However, along the new border which the expeditionary force had just created, pseudo-guard posts had been set up. The force had found that there was a pretty consistent line where the forest ended and there was just plain grass, rolling fields for as far as the eye could see (many miles). It was decided that the border would be established just a few hundred feet inside the rolling hill area on the edge of the forest. Every mile along the ninety mile border from Echo Base to Prosperity Beach an armored Legionairre S-15 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9570518&postcount=246) fully loaded with weapons and five dominion soldiers sat on the top of a hill right on the edge - literally with the backside of the humvee nearly touching the trees - of the forest overlooking the border and grasslands.
It was a show of force. A line in the sand...
Echo Base
"Sir!" Private First Class James said loudly as he burst through the commander's tent flap. Major Brooks had been taking a nap, having been up for more than thirty hours straight overseeing the beginning of the expedition, but now he shot straight up in bed.
"W.... wh-what is it, private?" he said groggily as he wiped the sleep from his eyes and put his fleet on the ground.
"Sir... I thought you would like to know... the island is officially a hot zone." A hot zone was the term given by the military to any area in which any form of fire was exchanged by two or more opposing parties.
"Where?"
"Due east - coordinates A40320, D19087. Scouts report artillery bombing by the Felucans. Our satellites and planes confirm that positions to our east of an unknown force were attacked."
"Damn't..." His mind was racing to take in everything at once after just having woken up from a weary nap.
"Sir?"
Major Brooks walked to the tent flap and exited leaving the unsure private behind. "Let's just hope our neighbors to the south weren't right..."
Somewhere in the Ocean - Off the coast of Liberty Beach
All but two of the subs from the 1st Expeditionary Fleet had spread out in the depths of the ocean. They were the first line of defense and alert for the beaches the military now controlled. The subs patrolled the waters, making sure nobody was trying to sneak through unnoticed...

[The blue dot is still Echo Base. The green perimeter around it is essentially the secured and occupied area of the Dominion. The long green perimeter that stretches up to Waipio Beach is the perimeter that I talked about in the first part of my post in which there is a humvee every mile at the edge of the forest (which is essentially where the line is). The area behind that is sort of controlled by the Dominion. While there are no forces or anything there, it has been cut off from the rest of the island by the military and the beaches that have access to it are controlled or at least have dominion forces on them.]

8 A.M.- D-Day +1.
With the main objective completed, the secureing of a proper beachead and the sending out of B,C, and D Battalion to futher secure the area. The time had now come to move the offshore command and control facilities to onshore, but the question was where? While the beach was nice- the defense of it would be a nightmare, the river offered a nice defense terran- but it too had its disadvantage. Finally after a heated debate, Colonel Jack Sheppard, the man in charge, exerted his authority and ended the debate once and for all. "Take some explosives and clear me a spot in the forest". While the explosion can be heard for miles, it accomplish two things. The establishment of Base Island, which would be in no time up and running and the announcement to other forces in the area that they were not alone.
Base Island:
With more men departing the ships for Base Island- the strength of the forces on the Island had grown from a single Regiment ashore to almost a full division. With this happening, Colonel Jack Sheppard was instrucated to wait in headquarters for a new assignment from the now in charge Major General Omar Bradley.
"Jack, I want you to take a single squad north and find out what the forces up their are doing and what they want. Do Not fire unless you are fired upon first, I don't want this turning into a shooting war." Your Orders- make peaceful contact and see if you can come to a mutual understand. Thats all dismiss!"
OOC: This is in response to Xeno/Feluca's Long range artillery strike on me.
Sorry it took so long, sleep, school, and footy training got in the way...
Xeno/Feluca, I didn't know how fast your "Rocket Assisted Artillery" woul get here, so I guessed at 2 mins. BTW, I looked up "Rocket assisted artillery", and got this. "This two-ton howitzer can fire shells as far as 19 kilometers away. The M198 is the standard towed 155mm howitzer. It weighs 8 tons, and can fire conventional rounds as far as 22.4 kilometers (for rocket-assisted projectiles, the range is 30 kilometers). "
BUT, afterall, this is NS, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

IC:
The Farsran troops were buzzing with excitement, just hearing about the unexpected attack on the Felucan light tanks. Word of war had spread throughout them, hardly any new how really underpowered the Farstran's were.
A young logistics soldier, in a forward radar base first spotted the counter attack. The radar flashed many incomings. He jumped out of the truck, shouting, "WE HAVE INCOMINGS!"
The soldiers looked about, the RAAs were clearly visible in the dark sky, men forgot about their posts, running down the hill and into tree cover, for some it was too late. Metal rained down on them, screams erupted as men fell to the floor, land rovers lit up into huge balls of fire, and ammunition was set off in machine gun posts, from the beach, the terror was clearly heard, and the RAA seen. Wyatt immediatley got onto the radio to Tiser, yelling into it, " What's going on!?" No response from Tiser came, just the amplified screams, both of the Artillery and Farstran soldiers, explosions of the jeeps deafened him. He just flicked off the radio, he knew this would come. Pointed to a Communications Officer, he told him to get as many men and vehicles into the tree cover as possible, prepare for guerilla warfare, and get any ammunition they can.
Meanwhile, it was way to late for fifteen of the sixteen CR2s, one had realised, the gunner screaming into the radio for the rest to run. While his tank was the only one to heed those warnings. Making for tree cover and not looking back.
When the barrage had appeared to stop, the commander looked out of the hatch. Fifteen, black, smoldering, un-recognisable vehicles met his eyes. No-one would have survived it.
Wyatt, at the beach HQ tent held his head in his hands.
By the end of the barrage, news from the frontline met with Wyatt's ears.
459 Infantry missing, presumed dead.
35 CR2's Destroyed, along with their crews. 140 Tank crew missing, presumed dead.
46 Land Rovers Destroyed.
3 Strikers Destroyed.
6 Warriors Destroyed.
3 MLRS Destroyed.
Wyatt shook his head in disbelief, with reinforcments still 3 days away. Was their any hope left for the Farstran's?

Overhead Hill 108
A single UAV drone circled several miles from the hill, its cameras zooming in to examine the shattered terrain carefully. One of the cameras twitched back and forth while searching for survivors, but finding none.
Camp Amanda
A group of officers stood behind a young specialist as he guided the camera's eye. Another specialist was doing the lying. On the soldier's computer screen was fed a real-time image of what was once a tree and grass covered hill, now a blackened and pock-marked scar.
A Colonel of the Felucan artillery arm nodded his head, "Those FAEs worked just like in the testing phase. It's not really a kinetic force as much as it is a heat and oxygen issue. It burns better when it's in vapor form. It'll suck up all the oxygen. Hell, it's practically an implosion."
Camp Bart
A platoon of Redwood IFVs lead a small convoy of Armadillo trucks southwards along the path marked earlier by the M50 Stalkers. A convoy of twenty three trucks lead by nine IFVs sped forward while using night vision for navigation.
They'd be arriving at Hill 108 in about three hours.
Some of the soldiers lay down to rest in the trees, most using their backpacks for headrests. They would, again, each have specific times at which to keep watch.
A lot of them were talking, blaming the slaughter on the incompetence of the Command. How, in this day and age, could communications be so bad? Was the main querie.
Alec Tiser walked wearily about the men, although he was tired, he wanted to keep the mens spirits up, and just seeing him still alive may do it.
He had ditched his pack and radio in the attempt to get away from the hill. He had no comms with the command at the beach. It was no use sending a team at this time of night, they could easily get lost, so he decided to wait until morning.
He then stood at the treeline, looking up at the hill that had once held many men and machines, not much was visible up there now, just the odd flame. The true slaughter would be seen in the morning.
OOC: Sorry for the short post. I'm kinda tired. It might even be the last one of the night..

Hill 108 - Dawn, 6:30AM
The first Redwood (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10214020&postcount=22) rolled out of the tree line and into the grassy region that Hill 108 overlooked. Several hundred meters out into the grasslands were the blackened hulls of the two M50 Stalkers that had been ambushed and destroyed.
A kilometer or so south was the blackened ruins of Hill 108 which had a cloud of black and grey smoke settled about its top from the few fires still burning.
The lead Redwood's turret swiveled back and forth, examining the terrain carefully for hidden enemy positions. One spot that seemed particularly suspicious was noted near the base of the hill. The Redwood's chaingun spat out a handful of rounds, the tracer rounds arcing downrange to impact among the clump of brush.
The Redwood's commander grunted, "This is Bandit Two. We're clear."
"Roger Bandit two, convoy moving forward now. Deploy."
Four of the IFVs rolled across the terrain towards the hill while two more took positions covering the approach. The lead element was followed by Armadillos (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10962806&postcount=65).
Upon reaching the base of the hill, the Armadillos came to a stop and squads of infantry disembarked and began making their way up the slope on foot carefully. It was about 150 infantry total, which spread out. The lead infantry closely examined the ground for mines or traps, but it seemed the hill had been cleared out in a hurry.
From the top of the hill, a soldier called out, "Lieutenant! I see armor tracks. Looks like the artillery didn't kill everything." A woodland-camo clad Felucan wearing Lt.'s insignia nodded her head once and turned to radio the message back to Camp Bart.
Camp Bart
Members of the 48th Air Cav began assembling at their helicopter pads, while a batallion from the 65th Armored Division rolled south towards the area formally occupied by Farstra.
Meanwhile, two brigades from the 65th Armored turned their paths towards the volcano and set out. This armored force was screened by a skirmish line of M50 Stalkers and M10A Redwood IFVs. Among the collection of M1 Gryphon (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10213872&postcount=21) and M2 Chimera (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10933663&postcount=59) MBTs was an array of Armadillo troop transports and M11 Pinetree APCs (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10214044&postcount=23).
A forward base would need to be established soon enough for artillery support as the battle line moved on.
The troops and machines, who had fled the hill and were taking shelter in the trees just behind it were awoken by a burst of machine gun fire, vehicle movement and shouting. The looked at eachother in disbelievment. Outmanned, and outgunned they took up their positions between and behind tanks.
Tiser popped his head inside a CR2, "Any idea what vehicles they have?"
The crew shrugged, the gunner replying, "They may be more IFVs, some large IR signatures headed south, they looked like MBTs, they're out of the picture now though."
Tiser nodded, "You think you can take out the nearest vehicles."
The gunner grinned and nodded, "Hell yeah we can."
"On the word: Mercury, all tanks fire at will. Get onto your radio and tell the others."
Without any sort of verbal response the man held his radio to his head. Issuing the orders.
Wyatt got out of the tank. Reinforcements were most likely on their way to the Felucans, he'd need air support. Jogging over to the nearest Land Rover, he issued the order, "I don't care how, just get back to the beach, and tell Wyatt to get Air Support from the Aircraft Carriers. Make it as quick as possible, we'll be attacking their nearest vehicles soon."
The driver acknowledged his orders, immediatley jumped into his jeep, hit the ignition and turned around, the roar of the engine faded into the forest.
Tiser ran back to the tank whose crew he had spoken with earlier, "Are the orders out?"
"Yeah. Ready to fire, sir."
Tiser stood on top of the tank and yelled, "MERCURY!" He instantly jumped off the tank, telling the infantry to bear arms.
"Aim straight chaps. And if you see the enemy, DO NOT, STOP, FIRING!"
The tanks turrets shot off their ordinance, their shells disappearing into the darkness. They each fired four shots, then stopped to analyse the damage.

Hill 108 (It's dawn, remember.)
Infantry scattered on the hill as tanks opened up on them from the southern tree line. The vehicles parked on the north side immedietly revved their engines and started to circle the hill, so as to bring the enemy into view.
The Felucan infantry found cover in artillery blast holes and behind wrecked enemy vehicles and took stock of the wounded or dead from yet another ambush by the enemy.
Meanwhile, four Redwood IFVs emerged from the western side of the hill and focused their chainguns on the enemy vehicles in sight. The guns opened up, spitting out streams of 25mm shells while their ATGM launchers flared.
The guided anti-tank missiles lept from their launchers to streak down onto the enemy positions.
With this fire base established, the infantry on the hill began to move down the eastern side of the hill out of sight, packing along their gear and equipment.

Early Morning, D-Day +2
By the second day of the operation, the forces of United Earthlings had moved north at a rapid progress and had secured the area a few miles south of Kohala where the bend ends above the area of Kailua-Kona. Though, the base to the north was an unknown, Colonel Jack and His sqaud were going to find out soon enough, what their intentions were- whether they be good or bad. While, the northern advance had stopped, the southern and easterns advances continued at a normal pace.
Base Island
As General Bradley prepared for the day- filled with reading over boring reports, reporting those reports to high command, for once he wished just once for a little action. Little did he know in a few minutes that he'd get his wish.
All of a sudden out of the blue; explosions could be heard ripping the air apart, as they made their way their the forests and streams of this once peaceful Island. His first reaction to the sound was, oh crap what did I wish for now- were under attack, but once he heard the second explosion while no as load as the first, his years of military service had taught him the sights and sounds of battle and he knew that while someone was under attack, it was far to the north.
Reacting quickly, he order in his staff sergeant, With a firm voice Bradley Issued the order, "Order all forces to halt where they are and to secure positions, and sarge get me a UAV- over the area that sound came from ASAP."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Delta Sqaud (South of Border of unknown force)- Handing his weapons and equipment to his sqaudmate expect for his knife and compass for which he had hidden in a place no one would look, Jack- prepared to complete his mission and make contact with the unknown force- before departing his squad he issued one final order "If, I'm not back within 8 hours you know what to do", at that his entire squad noded.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the South Border of the Unknown Force
Slowly and quietly, Jack made his way towards a known checkpoint as reported by High Command, their it was, a single Humvee with 5 soliders in and around the area from what he could see. He knew the moment of truth had come it was now or never, what happen next would determine the course of events.
Approaching the vehicle and its guards slowly, he spoke out in many different dialect speaking the same 4 words over and over again, "I Come in Peace", in as many different languages he knew. While at the same time Jack was waving a white flag as fast as he could. He could only hope, the soiders in front of him understand one of the languages and didn't open fire or was he going to be in a rock and a hard place.
On the frontlines..
The enemy vehicles circled the hill;
"Get Javelins up there, destroy as many as possible." Tiser ordered. He then shouted along the line, "DO NO, UNDER ANY CICUMSTANCES, LEAVE YOUR POSITIONS. AIR SUPPORT IS COMING." He then turned back to face the enemy and though, At least I hope it's coming...
Meanwhile, the enemy tank busters had also been busy, no more than ten seconds after Tiser issued these orders, four of his own tanks lit up in a ball of fire.
The Land Rover that was sent back..
Just as the sun was rising over the sea, with the EFN silhouettes about ten miles out, the Land Rover's tires, after thirty minutes of driving through forest, met with sand. The crew drove about ten metres into the beach, then stopped, looking for the base camp.
"So, can anyone see it?"
"Yeah." Replied the Gunner, "About a mile south."
The whole crew looked, and there it was, the base camp for Farstran operations.
The land Rover set off, sand spewing up behind as it reached higher speeds. It was there in a few minutes, before the jeep had even stopped, the gunner was out and looking for Wyatt, he was in the Logistics truck, the Gunner burst in, quickly saluting he then told the Commander about Tiser's request for Air Support. Wyatt quickly got himself a radio, yelling down it for Admiral Kellerman.
"Admiral, the soldiers have come under serious assault and are requesting that they have immediate air support, they are at the following co-ordinates."
In the Fleet..
Kellerman nodded, he straight away ordered his communications officer to get the word to the carriers. In no less than five minutes, Fifteen F-35s, Fifteen F-18 Super Hornets and twenty Lynx Mark 8s, armed with machine gun pods were off and flying, the aeroplanes ETA was under two minutes, with the Helicopters two minutes later. They were prepped to be underfire.
(I'll give you a chance to respond..)
Back on the beach..
Wyatt turned to the Gunner, handing him a powerful radio, "Get this to Tiser, it should be easier to do now that the sun is up."
The gunner, without even a thanks ran back to the Jeep, and it was off back to the Forest.
They had seen him miles before he arrived. The open fields of rolling hills were not a good spot to sneak across as there was next to no protection. The humvees scopes, sensors, and thermal imaging had noticed the incoming soldier and its weapons were locked on as he approached closer. While it was obvious that he wasn't or at least didn't appear to be a threat as he screamed out, "I come in peace," and waved a white flag instead of toting a rifle, the Dominion soldiers were not taking any chances; their weapons were trained on him as he approached, and from the forest behind them a sniper was aiming at him from his hidden spot.
Only the Corporal didn't have his rifle menacingly aimed at the soldier. Instead, he held a powerful Viper R-90 in his right hand at his waist. When the soldier was within twenty feet, he spoke up, "By mandate of the Admiral, you are hereby ordered to stop your forward progress or risk trespassing on Dominion soil, which will be considered an act of war and met with the appropriate force."
Echo Base
The entire scene on the southern border was being broadcasted from the tiny camera mounted on the Legionnaire S-15 back to the Command Tent, where it was being displayed on a large pull-down screen. This was their first face-to-face contact with anyone else on the island... everybody was holding their breath.
In the background, the roaring sound of helicopter's starting up was heard, as two Zenith X-20s were loaded up with four soldiers each and headed off towards the southern border...

Hill 108
The infantry with the javelin anti-tank weapons were being fired upon by 25mm chainguns as well as Felucan infantry which were by now, flanking in from the east supported by a pair of Redwood IFVs.
There were around fourty infantry at the eastern flank of the enemy, picking their way through the woods under the cover of the Redwoods.
Meanwhile, where the four Redwoods were still positioned, they continued to simply chop their fire at whatever enemy showed himself. At this sort of range, a Javelin would be pretty useless anyway, as most of the fighting is occuring at 75 meters and closer.

A pair of E-1 Telescope AEW&C aircraft circling overhead began to detect aircraft launching from the enemy fleet. A radio message was immedietly relayed down to Camp Amanda, then back to the Felucan fleet sitting miles off the northern coastline.

The aircraft carriers began to launch their own fighters. Fourty seconds after the first Farstra fighter lifted off, the first Felucan fighters entered VTOL mode and took to the air and turned south. That's the advantage of VTOL aircraft, being able to launch more than one at a time.
Using two catapults and six launch points, the sky was soon filled with F-10A Raptors. The first wave of thirty turned south on afterburner, followed by a second wave of thirty three minutes later.
At 1,500mph, that translated loosely into 25 miles per minute. Thus, by the time Farstra's last aircraft rolled off its carrier (The process took Farstra 5 minutes, the Felucans about 2 minutes.), the Felucans had already been in flight for approximately 2 minutes already and had covered fifty miles.
The Felucans and Farstra air forces would be arriving at pretty much the same time.
At 55 miles, Farstra fighters entered the missile envelope of the AIM-1 Fang (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10212873&postcount=9). Using the AWACs to point out individual air targets, the F-10As focused their RADARs, and began to launch their missiles. The AIM-1s arc into the sky on a ballistic path, so that they can 'look down' on the enemy fighter craft, then streak in out of the early morning clouds.
Hill 108
One Lieutenant on the hill radio'd the rest of the units, "We've got incoming aircraft. The Taskforce has launched interceptors. Keep under cover though."
In the thicket of the woods, two pairs of eyes looked out, observing the battle at hand. Elsewhere around them, seven other members of Fox Cell had taken up defensive positions to guard the scouts. They were simply on an observation mission - no firing and no contact with either side. They were to be ghosts...
A few miles deeper into the woods was a Elusive Class Vehicle covered in a camouflage tarp. Should the battle turn too hot or their position somehow exposed, they would high tail it out of there and head back to a covert base deep in the densest part of the woods where there were no owls.
The High Seas
In the ocean, roughly one hundred miles off of the southern coast of the island, three ships cut through the water on their way to Liberty Beach in the west. There was one non-descript, clearly non-military vessel, flanked on either side by two Search Class Destroyers. However, underneath the churning waters rode three more Hunter Class Submarines - any attempted ambush of the convoy would soon turn into a full out battle.
On board the civilian ship was a large team of scientists, researchers, and construction workers as well as a whole load of heavy equipment and instruments. The original military wave was for securing the area, this ship was to check the rumors and put the area to use.
The High Skies
High above, in the upper stratosphere over the island soared multiple SR-75 Aurora spy planes. They traversed the lands, especially those that had been explored and/or established, and examined the goings on.
Somewhere along the way, two more heavy transport ships had joined the convoy, coming from a base in the west to meet the group about fifty to sixty miles southwest of Liberty Beach. They carried more supplies as well as a flock of soldiers and multiple more vehicles. Now that a new force had claimed territory - and with it, the waters around the area - to the south of the Dominion's lands, the trip took about an hour longer so that they stayed away from any possibly threats or misunderstandings. Nonetheless, by mid-morning, the convoy of five surface ships and three unknown Hunter Class Submarines arrived at the newly constructed docks of Liberty Beach.
The two destroyers that had accompanied the other ships to the island had also carried a small compliment of soldiers so as to perform two tasks at once (defense and transport). The three hundred [2x 300] soldiers on both ships disembarked and landed on Liberty Beach where they were processed and sent to their respective camps to get situated. The two heavy transports had carried twelve hundred [2x 1200] soldiers each as well as one hundred twenty [120] King Zeus MBTs and eighty [120] Bull Warrior FVs, which were all transported to the main base via landing craft to the beach. The final ship that had arrived and was the main reason for the convoy other than bulking up the presence in the area, was the civilian transport and research ship sent from DMI. When it pulled into the beach head, a massive, shallow-water transport came out of the front end and landed on Liberty. Off of the transport came many large trucks with all sort of equipment on them. After the equipment had been successfully removed, the civilian researcher and scientist teams were unloaded and escorted by a personnel detachment of six hundred [500] more soldiers.
There was no rest for the weary, however. After the ships had finished unloading, the newly arrived soldiers got to work. As part of a newly expansion plan, the three thousand newly arrived soldiers were split up into groups of a thousand and aided by forty of the new Zeus MBTs and Bull Warrior FVs each (as well as some troop transports and humvees). Their tasks were to set up new strategic bases on the frontier by nightfall. Charlie Team moved northeast through a series of previously established routes through the forest until they arrived at the current border, and then continued onward over the open, rolling hills. Eagle Team moved more or less due east to where a site had been IDed for establishment. The final group, Gold Team, traveled south, southeast to complete the line of forward defensive and strategic positions for the Dominion Military.
Elsewhere, the remaining five hundred troops that had recently landed at Liberty and tasked to guard the civilian corp, began moving with their protectees to the north. The civilian corp was there for a simple reason - the only reason the dominion was on this island at all - to find the oil... It was rumored that there was oil in the north and northwest of the island, and the Dominion had almost monopolized it, or at least where it was rumored to be. Now came the part where the entire mission would be justified or criticized. The civilian ship they had come on was not merely a transport ship. It too was a research vessel that would be looking in the oceans around the Dominion's territory for oil buried beneath nature's most mysterious place. Tasked to guard the ship, unbeknownst to anyone else, were the three Hunter Class Submarines, which were slithering somewhere in the darkness of the waters.
It was decided by Vice Admiral Griffin that the waters around Liberty Beach and Echo Base were relatively secure with the number and types of ships already present and defending, and so the two escort destroyers were ordered to move north around the tip of the island and drop anchor off of Prosperity Beach (Waipio). The small base that had been established there wasn't growing all that much, though it had slightly, but defending that beach was crucial if they were to hold their territory in the event of attack. Prosperity Beach would allow attackers to get behind the frontlines and then have open (well, technically forested) lands to run through where there was little - though some - defense set up.

OCC: I didn't want him to be seen, until he was just a few hundred yards from them, as being seen would be a bad, but I just have to be more clearer in the future. So, in the meantime I'll just work with what you typed.
IC: Stopping dead in his tracks, Jack knew now exactly why he was given this mission, anyone would of been dead scared after hearing those words, but to him, they were just soliders doing their job and a good one at that. After what seem like an eternity, but in reality was only a few seconds- Jack yelled out to the soliders up ahead. "I want to talk to your superiors, this matter is the upmost of importance. I am unarmed and again I say I only want to talk."
[ooc: Sorry. It is just that I stated the line was made at the edge of the forest so that there is only rolling hills for miles.]
For a long silent moment, the Corporal said nothing; he just stared out at the foreign soldier. Finally, he received word from Echo Base that it would be okay, provided he was 'secured.'
"You will have to remove all weapons, submit to being frisked, handcuffed, blindfolded and driven to our base. The terms are non-negotiable..." The words hung heavily in the air.
Soon, the silence of the morning was broken by the sounds of blades cutting through the sky. Over the forest appeared two vicious looking helicopters as they took up flanking positions on either side of the humvee. Their weapons were trained outwards and two men hung out either side of both choppers manning built in machine guns. Above all four of them, stood four more men holding rifles.
If this was a trap or ambush of some kind, there would be hell to pay. The Zeniths were ready to take up the guard if the humvee moved out or was destroyed.

In the air..
“Shit, we’ve got bogeys, east of us and heading for us at high speed.” Announced Squadron Leader Dennis Ango, of the F-35 Squadron.
“They’ve fired at us!” bellowed Cody Halsall.
“Get low, get fast.” Ordered Dennis, “For Gods sake don’t get shot down, our foot sloggers really need our help.” He then flicked a switch, allowing him to communicate with Ethan Moss, the Squadron leader of the F-18E/Fs called into combat. The radio connected, but not before Dennis had to hit mach 1, “Jesus, the missiles are in sight. Stay Low!” At the last second he pulled up, a missile whizzing below him, around him he saw his mates falling from the sky, screams filled the radio, “Bloody hell, they must outnumber us at least 2-1!” He barked, as he was desperately trying to avoid a missile that was tailing him. His HUD went back to green, Phew, dodged it. He banked back, so he was now facing the island, putting his throttle to full afterburner he sped to it, he had lost ten of his squadron, five remained. “Ethan?” He asked down the radio.
“What?” was the simple response.
“I lost eight from the squad..”
Before he could even finish his sentence Ethan’s voice drifted across the radio, “I lost six, we’re turning to engage.” The enemy was now within the range of the F-18E/Fs AIM-120s, immediately the button was pressed, nine missiles left the nine planes, as they carried on to the enemy aircraft, “We’ll try to keep the Felucans occupied, you carry on to the target.” He then switched off the radio, pushed the throttle to 100% and hastened o the bogeys, then getting onto the radio to the carrier group, “Get every combat plane you can up and flying. And tell the destroyers to be ready, we’ll try to drag the Felucans over.”
Soon enough the remaining thirty F-35s from the CVF lifted off, heading to help the Super Hornets, with twenty more Hornets heading the same way.
Destroyer Section…
“Sir, enemies are well within range now, hits on them are almost imminent, would you like us to open fire?”
Captain Hugh Wilton thought for a moment, “Yes, fire at will. We want to keep those planes at bay. Send out the word to the rest of the Destroyers as well.”
Within 30 seconds the Type 45 destroyers and Dauntless Class Destroyers were firing Aster 30 missiles at the bogeys, each ship shot ten missiles in the direction of the Felucans, totalling seventy missiles.
“Missiles are on their way, ETA on the enemies, fifteen seconds.”
F-35 Squadron – 3 minutes earlier.
“Coming up to enemy ground targets, selecting Paveway II guided bombs.” Told Dennis. He touched his HUD, it then lighting up with a view of the aircraft, and the weapons chosen. “ETA, 30 seconds.”
Movement caught his eye, looking to the right he saw a young pilot, his plane was wavering and banking.
“Something wrong, Rayer?”
“Not with my plane, sir. But…I can’t believe we lost so many men back there.”
Dennis heard the tears in his voice, “It’s okay, mate. But we HAVE to complete our mission. More people are dying down there, and with reinforcements on their way, if we hold our ground a little longer, we will be able to kick ass the day after tomorrow.”
“Mmmhmm.” Was the only response.
“Hill 108”- 5 minutes earlier
The Javelin crews were being ploughed down, and Tiser had saw the enemy infantry attacking from the side. He cupped his hands around his mouth, “FALL BACK!” was his order. The thicker trees may give more cover, and they could then observe the, hopefully arriving soon, air support’s attack.
Men ran past him, vehicles roared past him, he was still firing his G36, every enemy soldier he saw he fired upon. His mag running out of ammo he put it into his pocket, in less than two seconds he had a new one in, continuing the fire while he walked back wards, he had to step over dead bodies, reports from other men had said attacks from the east of the line had crippled the force. They needed reinforcements, and fast.

The Air
The Felucans would not enter a missile envelope for the destroyers, or the carriers. The F-10As were not currently configured for an air-to-ground/sea role at the moment, and saw no benefit to closing the range. Perhaps later, the Felucan carriers would launch some F-10Bs and see if they could strike at the enemy fleet assets.
22 of the F-10s would remain behind to brawl with the enemy fighters, while the remaining 8 punched afterburners and chased after the enemy aircraft still heading towards Hill 108. That was the primary mission, afterall.
Interception Group
Of nine missiles fired, the Felucans targeted went into defensive manuvers. Jamming pods kicked on, and they punched their flares. Still, four missiles found their targets and blotted out Felucan F-10s in balls of orange and black flame.
Still though, there were 18 air-superiority fighters left. These split into elements of pairs for the most part, and proceeded to trigger their AIM-1 Fang missiles at the F/A-18s they dueled with. The sky soon filled with 19 Felucan missiles.
One of the controllers onboard the AWAC miles to the north radio'd a warning, "Intercept Group, the enemy is launching more aircraft. ETA, two minutes. Stay away from their fleet assets."
The second wave of Felucan fighters were still on approach, their own ETA about two minutes yet.
Persuit
Those 8 fighters toggled over to their long range AIM-2 Claw (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10212900&postcount=10) missiles. The internal weapon bays on the F-10s opened up, the missiles lowered, and locked onto the bright, beautiful targets of the engines and thrusters attached to aircraft they were chasing. As one, each of the fighters fired a single missile.
The AIM-2 Claws switched over to active homing all on their own, sped up to Mach 3.6 and chased after their designated targets.
This allowed the pilots to immedietly switch targets, and fire off another wave of eight missiles at the asses of the aircraft they persued.
Hill 108
The Redwoof IFVs were not as manuverable in the woods, so they would stay near the edge of the trees for now. Under cover, but not very deep.
The infantry however, were free to persue the Farstra infantry. They would do so for a few hundred meters, before breaking contact briefly. Armadillos rolled up through the woods from Hill 108 to deliver ammo and some more troops.
The Felucans, like Farstrans were pretty much in the woods by now, occasionally taking shots now and then.
OOC: Just wondering what happened to my destroyer attack...Aster 30 missiles have a range of 80km. ;)
In the Dogfight - F-18s vs Well, everything...
"Bloody hell, we're getting our asses kicked up here!" Ethan yelled, as yet again he and his plane ducked and dodged to avoid another missile, all around him there was a blur of missiles and jets, out of his squadron, four jets were left, out of the nine that had tried to intercept the enemy F-10s.
Outnumbered, outgunned, Yet again! thought Ethan, just as his HUD turned red again, and another F-18 went crashing into the sea. He then got a lock, firing a sidewinder he didn't even bother to look if it hit, in the distance he thought he saw the afterburners of the reinforcments, both sides reinforcments. It was just him and his wingman now, "Dive, get down to sea level and make a beeline for our reinforcments."
Without a verbal response, the wingman's F-18 dove down, a hail of bullets clearing the road in front of him, Ethan was right at the side of him. Soon they had reached Mach one. Mach One.One. Their HUDS were again red, this time, the missile hit, clipping Ethan's wingman's wing. "Eject, Eject!" screamed Ethan, nanoseconds later, the canopy of his plane blew off, the seat of his friend flying out and a parachute expanding hundreds of feet above Ethan.
The reinforcments flew over, their weapons locked they fired at the enemy, Fifty missiles from fifty F-35 and F-18s. At least we stand a better chance this time.
"Pursuit"
The F-35s dropped their ordinance, the unguided bombs. Then, the worst possible happened, all of the aircraft's HUDs went red, their helmets growled to them, showing someone had fired at them, "Dive between the hills! The missiles are maneuverable, so keep it tight!" The seven planes dove, for five it was too late, they erupted into flames, two had ejected, most likely above enemy territory.
The remaining two turned around and headed at 100% throttle back to the fleet. The F-35s were designed so they could land quickly, that is just what they would try to do.
"Hill 108"
Tiser threw a grenade, then ran. He, like the pilot didn't even check if his attack had had an effect. Occasionally he would turn around and fire a few shots, the sun was strong now so he could look and listen for enemy troops.
The beach was coming up, they would need to create a strong defensive line there to keep the Felucans at bay.

Hill 108
A roar overhead. The few Felucans standing around at the Redwoods near the edge of the woods looked up, just in time to see blasts begin pounding away at the pretty much deserted hill.
They ran for cover, climbing into the IFVs and slamming the hatches closed. A few bits of shrapnel and rocks clanged off the IFV's armor. On the hill, several soldiers who had been doing nothing more than standing around were killed.
Inside one of the Redwoods, a soldier looked at his buddy, "Who did that?" The other soldier shrugged blankly as they both peered out a rifle slit towards the smoldering, bombed hilltop.
One of the Redwoods that was closer to the hill was covered with an inch of dirt, and a tree snapped and half and fell across the vehicle, damaging and disabling it. The crew climbed out dazed.
Overhead
The persuit force continued to chase after the strike aircraft. Another wave of AIM-2s were launched, before they switched over to cannons as the enemy began to dive into the hills. The Felucans persued, gaining ground with afterburners to bring the enemy jets into cannon range.
Air Battle
When the Farstra reinforcements arrived, the Felucans entered defensive mode. Jammers and chaff/flares went out, but still more than half were struck by enemy missiles or proximity explosions.
Eleven Felucan jets fell from the sky in pieces, while the remaining seven turned their noses towards the enemy and cut loose with seven air-to-air missiles.
By this time, the AWAC had steered the Felucan reinforcements in.
Thirty F-10As swept in from the north, cutting loose with thirty missiles of their own. On afterburner, they drove directly into the enemy fighter formation, cutting the range down to point-blank as they switched over to cannons. It was going to get bloody.
"Hill 108" or the forest/beach behind it..
Tiser's boots met with, instead of hard soil, soft sand. He had made it to the beach, men, tanks and all vehicles had formed a line, they had seen the airstrike and it gave them hope, they would not be giving this beach up without a fight. With reinforcements possibly coming tomorrow, all was not lost.
Pursuit
"They're firing at us!" exclaimed Dennis, as cannon shots whizzed past his canopy.
"Really?" His wingman said, sarcastically, trying to evade yet another missile, it exploded beneath him, on the side of a hill. The man thought he had gotten away with it, until he saw the 3D Diagram of his aircraft in a display screen, shrapnel, or a cannon shell must have hit his tail, it wasn't working properly.
"Head for the forest!" Shouted Dennis, "We gotta get back to the fleet!"
Dogfight
The reinforcments had arrived, but had already been locked onto, Bloody hell, the squadron leader, Thomas Bennett thought, They locked onto us in a furball like this, those are some good missiles. He fired his cannon at an enemy as soon as his HUD went green. Some weren't able to do that. Twenty-Three of the fifty reinforcments had already been shot down, they thought it was impossible to get loked onto in this sort of fight.
The enemy reinforcments burst onto the scene, and Tom's radar lit up like a christmas tree, "We've got bogeys, everywhere!" Blurted out a member of his squadron, as he let go a short burst of cannon fire.
Another enemy jet swept over Tom's canopy, he gained a lock onto one in front of him, it was glinting in the sunlight, he pushed the trigger, a sidewinder bolted from beneath the wing, chasing down the jet. Man this is fun.

Persuit Element
The eight Raptors considered this little more than a tactical exercise of seeing under what conditions their missiles could strike the enemy. Even still, they split off into pairs to persue the remaining enemy jets, toggled their cannons again and began to take shots whenever they made themselves available.
Dogfight
The arrival of reinforcments again swung the fight into the favor of the Felucans. After making a single pass through the enemy formation with cannons and missile fire, they turned sharply inland to the west, made tight turns and proceeded to mix it up in a confused melee.
Fifteen more Felucan aircraft tumbled out of the sky trailing smoke, while the rest launched their shorter range AIM-1s when they could, but not very often. It wouldn't do to have a missile stray off after a friendly target. And a 30mm gun was enough to punch holes into an aircraft and its pilot anyway.
"Fox one.. kill! Spear Leader, this is Spear Nine. I'm Winchester." Which meant out of missiles. He still had most of his 30mm ammunition left, though.
"Spear Five, same."
"Spear Eleven, same."
"Roger, Spear Element. Break contact prepare for RTB."
The Felucans began to drift further and further inland, occasionally firing missiles, but mostly sticking with their guns. If possible to do so safely, they will break off the air battle.
Pursuit
The wingman shook his head, then proclaimed his only option down the radio, "I gotta eject."
Dennis, still ducking and weaving briefly looked over to the other aircraft, "Why?!"
"Well, shrapnel, or a shell hit my tail, and this would be the best time, as we're nearly over the beach."
He was right, they were between the two hills, the smoldering tops of them were clearly visible, and the forest coming up.
"Throttle at zero." The wingman issued, this would prove a problem for any high speed chasers behind him, "Ejecting." The explosives blew off the canopy, it also flying behind the aircraft, less than a second later his chair was ejected up into the morning sky.
The trees had arrived, Dennis pulled up, the belly of the -35 skimming the tree tops, just as a burst of cannon fire flew past his canopy, his aircraft jerked to the right, and he couldn't get it back to the horizon, a cannon had hit his right wing, and must have ripped the hydraulics up. As he crossed the beach the troops below him cheered, and as the Felucans passed over they fired their weapons, probably not hitting anything, as the Felucans were going to fast now.
Dennis's altimeter began to drop, now just thirteen foot above the water, and falling. Well old girl, you did me well., He pulled the throttle back to 0%, then pulled the eject lever. As he gained height his plane lost it, falling way behind him, he pulled his parachute above the water, Wait, is it shark infested?
Dogfight
As yet more aircraft fell from the sky, both Felucan and Farstran, Ethan issued a comment over the radio, "They must be running out of ammo now!"
It was still a big furball, he was unable to tell whether an aircraft was chasing or being chased.
"Yeah, well so are we!" was the response, "I've only got two missiles left!"
Ethan grinned, "Use your cannon then!"
"You sound like you're enjoying yourself, sir!"
Ethan kept quiet, although he didn't answer this, he did secretley enjoy a good dogfight. He was also running out of missiles, on left. Although plenty of cannon shells.
The dogfight was heading inland, "Do not, let them retreat!" Ethan yelled, he was desperate for a victory after the massacre of the infantry.
The response was a unanimous, "Yes, Sir!"

Persuit
Axe Element, the eight aircraft sent in persuit of the enemy strike aircraft continued on the tails of their foes. Axe Three was a young, female fox whose teeth gritted under the visor of her helmet as she fought against a high-gee turn that brought the nose of her Raptor-Alpha in line with the tattered tail of the jet she'd been persuing for some time.
"Axe Three, Charlie." And she triggered her cannon, just a half second before the pilot of the F-35 ejected. As the enemy pilot shot up into the air, she walked her 30mm across the fuselage, and the aircraft tumbled into the sea. She jinked to the side to avoid the parachute. "Axe Three, kill. One 'chute."
Axe Element turned inland again. "Axe Leader, watch yourself. There's fire coming from the beach." She noted the occasional tracer round zipping up from ground level towards the Raptor of her squadron leader. She muttered, "So you think you're gonna hit something going Mach one point six at ten thousand feet, do you?" She rolled her Raptor over, jetted south, then turned north to come up the beach. She dipped the nose of the Raptor slightly, and called over the radio, "Axe Three, Charlie!" the 30mm gun spit out a stream of tracers, like a long glowing rope as she strafed the beach, then turned inland to follow the rest of her squadron.
Dogfight
The Felucans were still holding their own. Several more had been taken down, but there remained ten who were viciously fighting. One of the Raptors that was being chased went into a steep climb, then cut in his VTOL mode. The Raptor quickly lost forward momentum, the nose tipping back down, just in time to see the F-18 that had been chasing drive right past. He locked on his last missile and triggered it before rengaging his engines and diving towards the deck.
The AWAC in support fourty miles away noted the positions and the situation, and enabled its jamming. Splotches would appear on the RADAR scopes of friends and foes alike, ghost images and interference. Perhaps the Felucans were sending another wave now. The Farstra fighters probably wouldn't see them coming if they did, not with the jamming on.

On the South Border of the unknown force
Yelling out to the soliders ahead, Colonel Jack replied "Your terms are acceptable, however before I submit to such a request I want a guarantee, that once the talks are over, I will not be harmed and allowed to return from where I came and not become your POW."
Base Island
With the secureing of the entire Kailua-Kona are, plans were now being drawn up where the next advance would be directed. Whether that would be north, south, or east.
In the meantime, major defensives were being set up along the northern border of the unknown force, this included checkpoints ever mile or so and the laying of milefields to prevent any unwanted guests. An artillery base was also being set up, equipped with 105mm Howitzers (http://www.armedforces.co.uk/army/listings/l0048.html) and 155mm Howitzers (http://www.army-technology.com/projects/ufh/) should long range fire support be needed. Anti-Air, Anti-tank (http://www.army-technology.com/projects/centauro/) and Mobile Machine Gun (http://www.army-technology.com/projects/eagle/) traps were hidden among the jungle and hills along the main line of defense set up a mile or two south of the unknown force.
Out at Sea
Should the forces of United Earthlings come under attack, a massive fleet was stationed just off the coast to provivded a massive air sortie.

"We are not at war, are we? So how could you become our prisoner of war... unless your people have plans to attack us while you are inside," the Corporal said, while his pistol was still held loosely at his side. "I'm just fucking with ya. We promise to release you and return you to the outskirts of our borders once we are finished...."
[ooc: Hope, you don't mind, for simplicity sake, I went ahead and had your soldier go along with the Dominion soldiers as he said he would. Will edit if you want it.]
After he was done speaking, the Corporal waved to two of the soldiers with his pistol hand. They released one hand from their rifles, letting them hang over their shoulder and supported by one hand on the handle, and then moved forward to secure the 'visitor.' They moved silently and without any words. Once behind his back they tied his hands together (with those straps you pull tight) and blindfolded him before leading him to the Legionnaire and putting him in the back.
Once inside the humvee, one of the soldiers hopped in next to him while the other got in the driver's side. When the Corporal sat down in the passenger seat, the vehicle took off down the path and through the woods...
Forty-five minutes or so later, the vehicle came to a stop and the door to the back opened. The two soldiers, who had secured him earlier, now supported him as they guided him to an empty tent. Inside were a table and a pair of chairs, one on either side. Before taking up sentry positions, one of the soldiers cut the bonds open and removed the blindfold.
"Greetings..." Major Brooks said, seated across the table from the visitor.

Pursuit/Beach
The soldiers on the beach frowned as the jet they had been cheering splashed into the sea, they then spotted the enemy fighter heading back to them, "Move!", the shout from down the beach was heard by everyone, immediately after this scream, troops split up, behind and in front of them the tracers threw up sand and rocks. By the time the aircraft had passed over, three men were injured, but not seriously. They were quickly rushed to the hospital tent.
While this was happening, Dennis, who had earlier ejected and seen his fighter smash into the sea had hit the water, quickly getting away from his parachute he treaded water for a second, then began the swim back to shore, it wasn't going to be easy.
Dogfight
Another Farstran was taken down, hit by a missile from a plane that used the VTOL technique.
The numbers on both sides were dwindling now, but both still fought ferociously, flames were erupting all over the shop, and to help this along the radars appeared to be failing.
"Wow, my Radar just went blank!"
"Mine too!"
These were two of the surviving pilots speaking, Ethan interrupted,
"Use your bloody eyes then!" As he yet again unleashed a barrage of cannon shells at an enemy aircraft.

"Greetings", replied Jack. "How are you today"?
Never one to beat around the bush, Jack come right out and stated why he was here. "Major, what nation are you working for and what is your intent towards my comrades to the south of you"?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the southern Border
At exactly 9 am in the morning, Fire Base Rain was given the order to open fire all along the southern border to clear the way for the Airborne forces that would follow to secure the area. If anyone was in the area that was designated to be shelled, they better have God on their side for the next 15 minutes.
For the next 15 minutes every M777A1 and M119 Howitzer laid down a barrage of almost a thousand rounds all along the southern border out to a range of 5-10 miles.
After the order to cease fire was given and only with a few minutes passing in a perfectly timed operation, dozens of C-130's (http://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/hercules/) and C-17's (http://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/c17/) filled the sky over the southern border as hundreds of paratroopers of the 83rd Airborne Division did a precise drop over their assigned targets.
To make sure, if trouble arose that the paratroopers would be well covered, aircraft from the various carriers and Assault ships were ordered to provived close air support.
Once, the planes got raid of their cargo, they would proceed to the newly established airfield to get refilled.

The Major in question took a sip of his morning coffee. "Pleasant day, strong coffee, progress is continuing," he said, listing off a few good things that had happened thus far. "So I guess I have nothing to complain about," he ended with a jovial tone.
"What nation am I working for? My own of course," he said with a slight chuckle as he took another sip of coffee. "Ah... but you want to know the name. You know... a man once said, 'What's in a name?'" Apparently the visitor wasn't one to play games and so Major Brooks' attitude changed drastically. "We here are from the Dominion of DMG and have set forth claim upon these lands as so marked by our forces. My intentions towards your men in the south are to have them stay out of our way and as a result out of our gun fire..."
Landing Strip - Echo Base
The roaring sound of four massive TLS engines blared through Echo Base as a C-57 Galaxy Lifter touched down on the temporary runway. On either side of it a pair of A-7 Wraiths was taxiing in from their escort role. Their air-to-ground missiles had been removed in order to make room for additional fuel so that they could reach the island all the way from the Dominion where they and their protectee had taken off.
The engines of the monstrous transport plane slowly purred to a stop as the aircraft parked and the loadmasters began unpacking the cargo. Boxes were tossed onto weighting trucks on the tarmac where they were delivered to the armory. The new Cyclops ULVs had arrived…
In the North
The civilian corp and naval research vessel had been at it for days. There search was continuing full steam ahead and they were making progress...

What Ranks do you use for your military? Do you use one of your own creation or do you use the standard US Military Ranks? I use the standard US Military Ranks

IC: Making sure he stayed on the Majors good side (OCC: I edit out his rank if I don't know it), Jack also gave a slight chuckle, but was thinking at the same time, was everyone becoming a comedian. Once, he heard the Majors tone changed, Jack knew now he was getting somewhere. If the Major was trying to intimidate him, Jack wasn't the least bit scared. Replying in kind "I acknowledge your intentions, Sir". And just at that moment Jack stood up and finished what he was saying, "My nations intentions towards your men in the north are to have them stay out of our way and as a result avoid their deaths." At that, Jack Saluted the Major to show a sign a respect, and in a final word stated "We (the nation of United Earthlings), wish your Supreme Ruler the best, and I would like to be returned now from where I was."
In the Air over South Kona.
Once the C-17's and C-130's had dropped all of their cargo, they headed due North to land at the makeshift airfield and refuel for the long journey home to pick up the rest of the 83rd Airborne that could be transported by plane. Those units that could not be, would board the ships of 10th Fleet for the journey to Big Island.
10th Fleet
With the finishing of loading of the 86th Infantry Division and the parts of the 83rd Airborne that wasn't dropped or to be airlifted, 10th Fleet prepared to set sail for the Big Island. ETA was to be 2 days, in the meantime the 87th and the section of the 83rd would have to hold the area themselves.

"Good day..." he said after the soldiers had finished blindfolding the visitor, and began leading him back to the humvee in which he had arrived. In the same configuration as before - one soldier in back, one driving, and the corporal in the passenger seat - they left Echo Base and began their forty minute ride through the forest back to the same spot as before.
Slightly more than forty minutes later, the humvee came to a stop and the door opened. The visitor was pulled out and his bonds cut without a word. After standing him up, the soldiers hopped back into the vehicle and drove about two hundred feet back to their guard post.
The two helicopters that hovered over head would remain for another thirty minutes before returning to base...

OOC: No.
Dogfight
The Felucans continued to drag the enemy further and further inland. Another jet was struck with cannon fire and one engine went out. Trailing smoke, the aircraft turned north in an attempt to get back to the Felucan fleet.
A minute later, the eight aircraft from the persuit element came swooping in on afterburners from the east with their weaponry blazing at Farstra jets.
Strike Element
The Felucans were jamming for a reason. It was mainly to cover up the approach of a flight of 24 F-10 Raptor B's. These are of course, the strike version of the Raptor A.
Just more blobs on the RADAR which is already filled with blobs due to jamming, the flight approached the Farstra ships from the north.
OOC: I'll say I have about...15 aircraft left in the fight.
Both sides were now crippled, way down on their initial power, the kill ratio was unknown, but probably around the same, and as more Felucan fighters joined the fray, the Farstrans were really up against it.
Ethan grimaced behind his respirator, as he sustained a High-G turn to stay on the tail of a Felucan fighter, he, for what seemed like the 100th time fired a barrage of shells at the aircraft, it had turned off sharply. Ethan carried on with the turn, he himself had Zero missiles and 50% Cannons left.
"They have more coming in, we don't stand a chance!" A squadron member uttered, the tears were clearly heard in his voice.
"Come on mate." Ethan replied, diving down to get some speed, "You're fighting well, remember what we're doing this for."
The eight arriving aircraft unleashed their cannon on the group, they weren't very accurate, because of the amount of planes in the fight, but at least one shell hit Ethan's left wing, Bloody hell, he thought. He didn't tell anyone about his hit, but he started feeling lots of vibrations in his stick, and the plane wasn't turning as nimbly as it had been. He didn't eject, however, that would destroy his squad's morale, and as they only had 5, no wait, now only 4 missiles left. That would be disastrous.
OOC: Im not responding to your fleet attack yet, I didn't know if you had just blocked my aircrafts radar or my fleet's radar.

And those eight aircraft took extra seconds to make sure that the little squares of their targeting systems were locked onto engine returns from the Farstra jets. Then, they ripple-fired a single missile each.
Sea
The jets continued onwards, trying to get within range for their air-to-surface missiles. This of course, would have to be under 20 miles due to the nature of the weaponry.

Northwest
The bossman of the Civilian Corp. peeked out of his tent and stared at the large circle of workers who stood surrounding a hole in the ground. They were all looking down at one man who was concentrating on a small device he held in his hand. "Beep." With the machine's sound everyone gasped... the results were in... they waited, holding their breaths, for the answer.
Frank, the man with the device, stood up and took his time to dramatically bestow the answer upon the silent crowd of dirty and sweaty men. "It's here!" he shouted, getting a roar from the crowd in response. Jim, the foreman who had been peering out of his tent, shook his fist in the air victoriously and then went back to the tent inside.
Clicking on a communications device, it linked up with a satellite in space and then back to a computer in the Dominion. Only three words were typed. Three words that would have a profound effect on their operations here: "We've got gold..."
Port of the Dominion
With the recent confirmation from the Dominion, the ships waiting in the port of the capital began shoving off for the distant island. There were numerous different types of ships; oil tankers, transports, equipment ships, supply ships, and finally an escort of six Dragon Class Destroyers and two Sentry Class AA Destroyers. Their mission was to begin operations to pump oil from the island and create a study flow back to the Dominion...
After a lengthy two day voyage across the open seas, the fleet of ships arrived just north of Liberty Beach on the western side of the island and began unloading their supplies. Amongst the throngs of equipment they had brought for their job, there was also a customized pre-fabbed town designed by engineers and architects from DMI. This town - to be named Slicksville - would be the home base (and literally home) to the hundreds upon hundreds of workers that would be building and maintaining the oil pumping on the island.
Deploying all of the equipment to the sight in the north would have taken a while, but the people aboard the ships were so energetic with eager anticipation that they hauled ass like the devil was coming for them and made it there in no time. Soon after the new arrivals were divided into two teams of workers, the development process began and the two projects were underway. The town began springing up as pieces were put together, while the more drilling for oil commenced as oil wells and derricks were placed. Once the infrastructure had been put in place a small port was needed to the west so that the oil could be loaded onto tankers and shipped through the open seas back to the Dominion.
As the days passed by in isolation from the others on the island, structures were becoming more and more permanent and people began settling in. The three military bases near the border of the territory were closer to looking actual bases rather than momentary military depots. Echo Base had been paved, walled up, and buildings emplaced. However, most impressively, Slicksville, the oil pumping, and pipeline which lead down to the port had all been erected, established, and operating in record time... all thanks to the hard work of the men who had left their families for the benefit of the Dominion. They would be receiving fat paychecks for their noble contribution to the benefit of society.
Soon, the first tanker would be hauling up anchor and setting sail for the mainland...
[ooc: The above happens over a period of many days to weeks (most of the buildings and equipment had been pre-fabbed in the Dominion and only needed to be put together which takes no time at all. I did this because the RP was slowing and I was involved in no conflict.]

IC: D-Day +2.5/3
Watching, the vehicle drive away for a few minutes, Jack made sure it was all clear and took off running into the woods to regroup with his squad he had left behind. After traveling for a few hours, Jack knew he was nearing the RP of where his sqaud would be. And sure enough their it was, calling out the password to let his squad know he was back, he recieved a reply from Sgt.York's crude sense of humor. "That didn't take long, Sir; No Pretty ladies for you to hit on up there." Giving a little smirk, Jack was not the least amused replying, "Oh, they were their Sgt, but when they heard you were near they ran for the hills. Their was of course a lovely Major you might like."
Jack's Sqaud
Upon regrouping with his sqaud, all 12 men headed back to Base Camp. Everything had gone without a hitch, though a few of the men, Jack could tell were eager for a little action, rookies he thought.
Base Island
Reporting directly to the General, Jack reported the following. "Sir, they are of the nation of DMG" As such, I would recommend we stay on high alert to on our northern border, just in case they try anything. However, I suggest we keep our forces in place where they are up north and keep the mile or so that is already their in place. Staying out of each other way would seem to me to be the best policy, Sir".
Taking his advice under advisement, Bradley would relay Jack thoughts and his own back to the King. In the meantime, it would be business as usually along the northern and eastern border.
For miles the rumble could be heard as dozens of C-17's and C-130's took off after being refueled to head back home, to pick up the rest of the Airborne Force and return them to this once peaceful Island. While the Aircraft took off, work continued on turning the airfield into a perment one with concrete runways and buildings to manage Air Traffic Control.
Southern Border
With the Airborne drop a complete surprise, the southern border had edge out a few more miles in favor of United Earthlings. What to do now, would be up to high command, but in the meantime- all those animals killed and injured by the Artillery Bombarment were collected and turned in to the cooks at the newly established Eagle Base, which would be the command and control for the 83rd Airborne Division. Some had to thrown out, others were quite good, once the Shrapnel was removed.
The cooks had their work cut out for them, as a rest party was to be tomorrow.

All across the nation TV screens flicked, and a message appeared. "Breaking News!"
The Television screens switched to the National News channel, a young woman st behind the desk.
"Today, through unknown means, this news channel has discovered that the newly discovered island doesn't just have Farstran troops on it. Satellite imaging shows at least four different nations have landed there, with our men and women already engaged in firefights on the east of the island. Our sources say they have recieved devastating losses, and, compared to the other forces on the island they are seriously underpowered. And although reinforcments are due to arrive late tomorrow afternoon, is this really a war we want our troops to be fighting?"
Dogfight
Bloody hell, Ethan thought to himself, as he avoided another missile and saw it shoot off into the distance, How many missiles do they have left?, soon he wouldn't even have his cannon to fight back with, and as three of his remaining squadron shot of the last of their missiles, neither would they.
Ethan, who hadn't particularly looked earlier, now noticed the trees below them, "They're dragging us inland!" He shouted down the radio, "Try to get back to the fleet, but for god's sake don't get shot down, I think I know what they're up to.."
Fleet
"How are our boys doing?" Kellerman asked his comm. Operator.
The man shook his head, "They're already down to 12 aircraft, and outnumbered, although the numbers aren't as bad they previously were. For some reason they are also drifting inland.."
Kellerman looked up at this statement, he'd seen this trick before, "Prep all SAMS, and get the Destroyers ready, I have a feeling somethings going to happen.."
Right on cue, one of the Battleship's Radar operator's came running, he saluted, "Sir, radar is down. We can't fire any missiles with accuracy."
Kellerman stared at him in disbelief, "Alright, they will be attacking us. Get every weapon we can use up on deck, aim at anything that moves and isn't Farstran."

Dogfight
Spear Flight Leader glanced down at the mapping on his HUD. They were far enough inland now. "Looks like they just realized what's happening. They're either bingo on fuel or completely Winchester. Let them disengage. It's too late now."
With a few parting bursts of cannon fire, the Felucans broke off and let the Farstra jets turn back towards the sea. The Felucans turned north, climbed to 40,000 feet for fuel efficiency and headed back towards their own fleet.
Farstra Fleet
About that same time...
The flight of 24 Raptor B's were not visable to the naked eye at about 22 miles out, supercruising at 47,000 feet just above the level of the clouds.
This was called Striker Element, and the Striker Element Leader called over his radio, "Before the jamming kicked in, the enemy fleet was last reported about twenty one point seven miles directly south. Striker Thirteen, take your squadron low and deploy torpoedos."
Twelve of the Raptor B's dropped down out of the sky and began to skim the waves at about one hundred meters. The other twelve came down below the clouds somewhat.
A minute or two later, they could see the glimmer of ships ahead. No doubt, the enemy would be looking -up- and not at the water.
Thus, Striker Leader lead his twelve jets in a tactical dive towards the enemy fleet, jinking left and right to throw off AA as their weapons bays opened up, laser targeting systems locking onto the aircraft carriers and allowing their LGBU-2 1,000lb laser guided bombs to take a 'look' at the laser beam.
As they passed over the fleet, the 12 Raptors dropped 3 bombs each, allowing 36 bombs to streak down out of the sky towards the aircraft carriers.
A second or two after the bombs would be hitting, the other 12 Raptors of Strike Element came in from sea level, pulling up at the last second and dropping their own munitions.. torpedos this time. The torpedos did not require RADAR for guidance, and thus would work in the soupy jamming enviornment.
The Mk40 torpedos (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10216995&postcount=35) had their RADAR sensors disabled before they were even loaded onto the Raptors for this mission. For this attack, they would be using their magnetic guidance package. Once released from the aircraft, the Mk40s engines flared, and the noses pointed towards the ships that they were aimed at. (Aiming for ships other than the aircraft carriers.) For the 12 Raptors, they dropped 4 torpedos each.
Dogfight
"They, They're leaving!" exclaimed a young pilot in the squadron, clearly excited.
Cheers were erupting from the radio now, but Ethan was not happy.
"They may be retreating." He said, silencing the cheers, "But WE are out of ammo, and running on fumes, and right about now our fleet is gonna get battered, that's why they dragged us inland, now get your noses pointing to the fleet, we'll be lucky to make it back as it is."
The ten remaining fighters spun around and sped towards the fleet, they kept at the altitude of around 6,000 feet, if they climbed they would waste fuel, and if any lower they wouldn't be able to glide if they ran out of fuel anyway.
Fleet Attack
The fleet sat there, glistening in the early sunlight, all crews were placed on full alert on the presumption that an attack was impending. Then the first shouts were heard, "There they are!" Thousands of faces, inside and outside of the ships turned and faced the diving aircraft, now visible beneath the clouds. AA fire blared at the dodging aircraft, ships engines started and they began to swerve, inter-ship radio was now no more that In-Op, shouts from each ship were erupting from the radio, the two carriers were the first targets, the CVF took a direct hit to it's stern, a fire immediately erupted as more bombs rained onto the ship, AA fire from the carrier stopped, and the ships began to lean.
The Nimitz carrier faired a little better, it had avoided a lot of the bombs with a sharp starboard jink, although it had took damage to it's bow and stern, the, debris was clearly visible on the deck from crews on other ships.
Meanwhile, the torpedo aircraft began their attack, CIWS from the ships shot rapidly, Deitrich's battleship was hit, but it stayed floating, the crew still try to get a few kills. A Type 45 destroyer erupted into flames, it's crew jumping off the deck as it sank to the depths of the ocean.
The Type 23 Frigates fought back the best, their Seawolf missiles used their IR tracking to fire back, and even though it was hell all around them, their missiles kept firing, their 114mm Mk 8 Mod 0 gun also blared a relentless sheet of munitions at the aicraft, two were taken down into the sea, hit by two torpedoes each, and in the same place they didn't stand a chance, but until the last possible minute the ships weapons were firing.
MCMVs had no chance, five out of the six were destroyed, and the remaining one was crippled.
Then, throughout the screaming radio, a thunderous roar was heard, an explosion on one of the four battlehips, EFN Heedful began to sink, now on an erratic course it collided with the CVF, forcing the carrier to topple, within minutes it was below water, never to be seen again. The battleship, however, carried on it's course, away from the fleet. All of it's guns blazing, it's 16 Inch Heavy guns and 24mm Autocannons alike, all unleashing a barrage of weaponry at the squadron of aircraft.
Total Losses:
1 x CVF
2 x T45 Destroyer
4 x Dauntless Class Destroyer
1 x Victorious Class Battleship (1 Crippled, crew to be lifted to other ships)
3 x Bay ALSL
4 x Type 23 Frigates
5 x Hunt Class MCMV
Total: 20 Ships Destroyed
Total Loss of Life: 4,543

Strike Element
Of the first twelve aircraft, none were even scratched by the AA fire, mainly due to the fact that with the tactical dives they'd never approached lower than about 12,000 feet or so. They swept eastwards out to sea and then turned north to return back to their own fleet.
Out of the torpedo aircraft, several were struck by AA, and the missiles proved much more effective. One of the fightercraft as it pulled up out of its attack run was struck by the proximity of an explosion. The rear half of his aircraft began to fall apart, and the jet ejected him automaticly. A minute later, he was drifting on a parachute towards the ocean below, right in the middle of the enemy fleet.
Four other F-10Bs also fell out of the sky, but none of them managed to eject.
What was left of the group turned north to head back to the Felucan fleet.
Felucan Fleet
A combat air patrol was already up, F-10As circling over the fleet and running exercises. Various ASW helicopters also continued their patrols, dipping sensors down into the water to ping for enemy submarines and such.
The Dominion
Just over two days after picking up anchor in North Liberty Harbor, the first oil tanker, escorted by two Dragon Class Destroyers, pulled into dock in the Dominion mainland. When it arrived, it was met with a large crowd of onlookers, all of whom where cheering enthusiastically at its appearance. This arrival was more than just another oil tanker to fuel the armed forces; it was another step towards fuel independence: A world in which the Dominion wouldn't have to rely on any foreign nation or corporation to fuel the military.
The oil began unloading through a series of massive pipelines that led to the military bases only fifteen minutes after reaching harbor. However, there would be no rest for the weary. Once the oil was fully unloaded, the tanker would once again set sail for the un-named island of prosperity...
Echo Base
"What's the update?" Major Brooks said as he wiped a short nap from his eyes and looked to a sergeant manning a nearby communications console.
"Sir, it looks like the Felucans and Farstrans are still beating the crap out of each other," the wily young sergeant replied, clearly bored of the endless updates coming through from intelligence. "It appears the Felucans are maintaining their superiority in the battle. I'm not sure how much longer the Farstrans will be able to hold out without reinforcements..."
"Alright. Keep me posted if anything interesting happens," the Major replied, mimicking the boredom of the sergeant. And with that, he once again left the command building and returned to his room where he was going over a few reports.
News Report
"It appears the Dominion is there to stay. That is right, all appearances point to a permanent military and civilian presence on the recently discovered island that is yet to be named. Our forces have yet to engage in military conflict and as you all no doubt know, oil has been found buried underground and beneath the surrounding waters."
"A very exciting find indeed. With the military bases and civilian town being built to last, the military made one final push to extend its borders. A small force of soldiers crossed the claimed territory line into unclaimed land and set up a new line for the Dominion. All signs point to this new line being the final push as new reports indicate that civilian contractors from DMI have been hired to erect a massive fence across the entire frontier. It is two be a double layered fence, fully monitored by a host of sensors, cameras, and indicators. The fence will be approximately two hundred and thirty five [235] miles upon completion...

The small black specs out in the water are also derricks. The new green line is where the fence is being built.]

Island and Eagle Base
Throughout the area controled by UE forces, RR had been approved for all forces both on the lines and behind. Fireworks were shot off when darkness descend and free beer and hot food was passed out. All in All it was a quiet day and evening for a day filled with stress.
But, for a general in a hot zone, the stress never ends. As Bradley was sipping his beer, Colonel Jack barge in yelling, "Good news sir, intelligence reports have figured out who the other nations are on this Island. Of course, you already know that to our north is the nation of DMG and her forces. To the south is the nation of Transylvania or something to that effect, reports are still coming in on them. To the east are the nations of The Xeno and Farstra- both of which are involved in heavy fighting against each other. The Farstraians seem to be on the losing side, Sir."
"Well colonel anything else you got now that you disturbed me?"
"Yes, Sir. The forces of DMG have expanded their border and their southern border is closer to our northern one. However, they seem to be building a fence or something. Will have confirmation tomorrow, Sir.
"If they make any more advances let me know, Jack. And specificly If they approach our southern border anymore, let them know our responence immediately. Between the landmines that will go off and a nice dose of Artillery should send them a clear message that they are getting in our way, as you told them they would be wise to aviod doing."
With a Salute and reply, "Aye, Sir". Jack left the command building.
Island Base Airfield
Arriving from state side after an eight hour trip, 2 squadrons of Air Superiority fighters and 1 squadron of Ground Attack aircraft landed at the makeshift airfield. With the aircraft out at sea on the ships and now the land based aircraft would, when and if the need arose give the forces of UE better control of the air.
StateSide
With the 10th Fleet still enroute and not expected to arrive till tomorrow, This was good news as it would increase the strength and presence of the forces of UE, as those elments of the 83rd Airborne that did not board ships were loaded onto C-5B Gaxaly's, C-17's, and C-130's and took off for the Island for a 12 hour trip. That were expected to arrive at the same or around the same time as 10 fleet arrived to replace 11th Fleet.
Their was also unconfirmed reports that the governments of United Earthlings and DMG had enter into high level discussions on possible trade agreements and a settlement on a division of the Island. If, such a discussion is taking place both governments are keeping them behind close doors.

All Along the Borders: D-Day +4
As the sun finally began to shed its graceful light, Elements of the 83rd Airborne and 87th Infantry Divisions began a limited advance to the east, southeast, and south. While this was going on, out at sea and in the air, the remaining elements of the 83rd where being drop off at the landing strip, one plane landed- unloaded its human cargo and their equipment, took off for home and another one landed to complete the exact same thing. It was Logistics down to a science of perfectation. While the aircraft were discharging their cargo, the 86th Infantry Division was being offloaded from 10th fleet. With the arrival of 10th fleet, all aircraft from 11th Fleet were transfered to 10th before departing for home.
In the hills and jungles, two new firebases were being set up to provived local fire support. Fire Base Rain would be moved futher south to provived fire closer to the southern border should it come under attack.
While not a huge undertaking, it paved the way for the next operation.
New Map-http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/7734/6a11a426nh4.png
As Before, the Blue dots are the bases, the small red square is the airfield and the two red circles are where the two new firebases are.
Island Base:
After all day of supervisioning the unloading of troops, the conduct of a limited advance, and the reading of intelligence reports. Thinking to himsef, if only I had stayed a colonel and not become a general, I could be resting right now. Oh, well he thought as he laid his head on the pillow, the burden of command. Just as he was about out, he heard a tapping at his door. "Sir", Jack called out.
"What is it colonel?" Letting himself in, Jack answer in a heart beat. "Sir, high command has made up its mind, we have no orders."
"Well, what are they!" Handing the general the piece paper the orders were written on, Bradley read over the order from high command. Looking at Jack- "Are they serious, they want us to launch a major operation now. Thats just nuts attacking them, were going to get our asses kicked." So much for sleep, thought Bradley. "Jack, issue the orders to the commanders of the various units." "Tomorrow is going to be a big day." "Aye,Sir" replied Jack.
Well atleast high command promised reforcements from stateside of the 33rd Corps if needed. Thinking to himself, well were dam sure going to need them.
Will just have to hope that we can hold on until they arrive in a few days. Leaving his set up home, it would be days before he saw it again.

Aftermath of Strike Element..
The crew of the Frigates were cheering, they had taken down five enemy aircraft. But not one had turned to see the damage caused to the fleet, the moment they did the ships fell silent, one lone pilot was in the sea, his body bobbing along with the waves. Immediately a helicopter was sent to rescue him, taking him back to the Admiral's ship.
Submarines retreated back to the fleet as well, there was now a fear of a naval assault, in which they had now air superiority, at least until the reinforcments arrived, in twelve hours.
On the Beach..
Smoke was clearly visible coming from the ships now, even on the beach. Men just stood and watched, stunned. The high pitched scream of the retreating fighters could also be heard, but none were seen.

Over the past few days we have set about on a plan to colonize and defend an area of this newly discovered island. Our armed forces have deployed and set up defenses and we have already had civilian research groups here to search the area for useable resources. This message is simple: We plan on staying here and continue to use the resources of this island. While we are planning on maintaining a small military force here, we would like to scale back our current deployments and for this we ask each of you for a non-aggression pact concerning our lands.

Too many lives have been lost and stopping now would only do the dead and their a complete dis-service.

We are not asking for peace between the rest of you, just between your nation and our own. Should you somehow overcome the Felucans, we would like to feel safe within our own borders. Currently, two of the other nations have complied (while one we are awaiting a response from) with this non-aggression pact and refuting it would seem hostile.

Said letter from Tranny was crumbled up and tossed aside into a trashbin.
Both Wyatt and Kellerman recieved the message from "Trans" at the same time, and both their responses were a slight laugh and a sigh.
Wyatt had read it in seconds, aloud he said, "I guess we're not gonna be calling them Tranny then, although those pompous Felucans may, they don't seem to care what happens to them."

Do we not already have a Peace Treaty between our two nations or have you revoked that Treaty and we are now in a state of war? D-Day +5 a summary
Throughout the 5th day of the operation, plans continued on the expected operation. An additional squardron of Air Superiority fighters arrived bring the total to 3 sqaurdrons plus that of the ground attack.
Reforcements were on their way but not expected to reach the Island until Day 7. All in All it was a busy day a bit a quite one, but that was going to change tomorrow with the kickoff of Operation Mine.
D-Day +6; a summary
With the canceling of Operation Mine, complete chaos reigned as to what to do with the Land now occuiped by the forces of United Earthlings.
Should they stick it out and risk war in the future being surrounded by hostile forces, launch a major invasion of the Island to secure the whole thing or retreat in disgrace. Liking none of the opitions, Bradley hit upon a genious of a plan. Make a Pact with the nation of DMG.

I'm sorry, but you may be mixing up a non-aggression pact with something else. A non-aggression pact states that there will be no aggressive moves against each other, not that we are going to cease aggressive moves, thus it does not mean we were at war.
I'm sorry, it is quite late right now as I am writing this, when was this treaty signed again?

A single CH-1 Elephant (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10785656&postcount=50) helicopter approached the Farstra ground positions. Two door gunners manned the 25mm miniguns, which were for the moment pointed at the sky.
The helicopter approached slowly, flashed its landing lights several times to make sure that Farstran ground forces could see them, then did a flyover. From the cargo ramp, a trio of Felucans began pushing objects out the back of the chopper.
They were stacks of papers, which began to drift to the ground like rainfall. The papers are a printed out copy of a gunsight image, showing the sophisticated targeting system of a F-10B locked onto what had once been a Farstran aircraft carrier, obviously seconds before it was destroyed. The lettering reads,
"So far you have fought against our light infantry and one wave of our naval aviators. You have six hours to begin evacuating onto your ships. After that deadline, if you are still in the process of evacuation, you will be granted an additional fourty-eight hours. If you are not evacuating, we are going to send in our Marines. They will kill you all."
The helicopter unless shot at, would drop the rest of the papers wherever Farstran ground forces had been sighted, then turn north again and head back towards the Felucan basecamp.
The timer was officially started. 0000:00:01

That confused me.

OOC: If necessary. The Felucans set the deadline to begin retreat at 6 hours so that you can use your reinforcement ships to help with evacuations. If they deploy for battle, well.. then we fight on. :)
OOC: Okay, this RP be not dead.
The whole beach had seen the approaching helicopter, many men had raised their weapons but Wyatt had seen the flashing lights, and had promptly bellowed, "DO NOT FIRE." Then, the leaflets dropped, after precisley thirty seconds laughter erupted from the troops, and soldiers made hand gestures towards the helicopter, but none the less let it fly away unscathed.
The Farstrans were going to fall back, however. But just to the fleet, they would wait for their reinforcments to arrive, then take back the beach by force if necessary, Air Superiority fighters were promised.
Five hours later
All of the remaining tanks and AFVs had been taken, by landing craft, to the fleet, along with a majority of the soldiers. Around thirty, however had stayed behind. They were laying booby traps in the forest behind the beach, with only certain routes passible without a threat of exploding, these men were then taken back on inflatable rafts, the beach now completley deserted.
Morale was boosted, the reinforcments were now visible on the horizon, ships of all shapes and sizes littered the eye-line.
The Farstrans weren't going down without a fight.
OOC: I will get a list of ships my reinforcments consist of up by tomorrow. :)

FROM: King Winston I, ruler of United Earthlings
I and my people have debeated your non-aggression pact and have come to the following decision. We will not sign it, however we offer the following deal instead.
All land, sea and resources on the Island that is currently controled by us we are offering to sell to you for a one time fixed price. In exchange, all we ask is access to some of the oil you have collected also at a fixed price.
We are also willing to leave a token force behind under your command to help you defend the new area shall you approve the deal.
We are willing to negotiate a price.
Sincerely, King Winston I

That sounds like a fair deal to us. A team of civilian contractors will be entering your part of the island soon via the southern gate of our territory. From there they will begin research and inspection of your area and begin setting up their equipment. We offer to pay a one time price of ten billion dollars. In return, we will begin sending one million barrels of oil per day into your territory via a new pipeline to the south at a cost of twenty-five dollars per barrel.
The force you offer will not be necessary, but I thank you anyway.

OCC: Everything, the land, access to the resources, the claimed sea zones. If, I claimed it was I was thier its now yours if you agree to buy it. I can also leave the buildings built for you, I'll would have to clear out the equipment though. There is also the unfinished runaway, It has concrete but its not the best as we were in a hurry and would have establish a perment one later. Some buildings are up around it and a few small hangers were built but not a control tower. I plan on leaving the Island, which is why I'm selling the land. We deemed it better to sell it all off and strike a trade deal with you over the oil then pay to maintain a garrison their. And this way, you have about half the Island under your control and we get a nice bit of money and oil for it.
IC: We agree both to your price offer for our part of the Island and the amount and price of the oil. We will have some of our Engineers meet your contractors at your southern border, we laid landmines all along our northern border and are just beginning the process of removing them. Our Engineers will be unarmed and we will hand over the map of where we placed the landmines should you want to leave them or remove them yourself. We set up a place for the contractors to work at our main base (Island Base). It has a working airfield should you need to fly in supplies in a hurry. We will also feed your contractors until we have completed our withdrawl and turn over the section of our Island officially to you. The withdrawl of our forces should take about a week, if you agree to the deal.
I'll be sending my Secretary of Commerce to your nation to sign and approve the paper work to turn my part of the Island over to you, while he is also their we can arrange the manner in which I can aquire that million barrels of oil for 25 dollars a barrel. I can supply my own tankers to pick up the oil, however whether you would like them to load at the Island or in a port in your nation we will leave to your decision. Also, whatever method you would like to pay us the ten billion dollars for the land is fine with us.

We wholeheartedly agree to this deal and thank you very much for the offer you have presented us with. The money will be wired to an account in your nation as soon as our contractors cross into your territory - which should be relatively soon as we sent them off roughly forty-five minutes ago.
The oil that we have promised you will continue to flow until the island runs out or you decide to cancel the deal. Seeing as we already have tankers running to the island and back, we would be more than happy to load the oil onto one of our own ships and send it to you. One tanker carrying all of the oil will be sent everyday to your mainland.
I again thank you for doing business with us and wish you the best in your future endeavors.

The response to the news of the Dominion's recent deal was wide spread and uniform: everyone was happy. In recent months, numerous new colonial territories had been established by the Dominion and the news of a peaceful and relatively easy take over of a majority of the massive island was very pleasing to the general populace.
Though this island would not be inhabited beyond the necessary work crews and security force, it did mean that there was just one more source of materials for the Dominion's ever growing populace.
Echo Base
A team of contractors had been sent via two humvees through the Southern Gate and to the meeting point. There they greeted the team of engineers from United Earthlings and quickly begun their business in the soon to be Dominion Territory.
The Wall
With news of the Dominion's new claim reaching the military long before the public, the engineers setting up the double layered wall along the entire border stopped their work and awaited further instructions.
A couple of hours later, the decision had been made and the contractors drove off in their vehicles to continue the job elsewhere. It was decided that the Dominion would make a bold move by vastly expanding their assets and creating a new border that was concave rather than convex. This simply meant that it was taking a majority of the land and leaving the rest for the victor of the Felucans/Farstrans.

We do not wish to go to war, however we will do so if it is not acknowledged that we are deserving of at least half of the island."

IC: Working out the Paper work was always the hard part in any deal, but like everything else, the wording meant everything. Thereby- the following Trade Agreement was submitted to the government of DMG.
Trade Agreement For The Island:
We, the nation of United Earthlings, hereby turn over all our claimed areas to the nation of DMG for a one time price of $10,000,000,000 USD. All structures, placements and resources inside this claimed territory are hereby turned over to the control of the nation of DMG.

"All materials we have on hand are at your control, included all the wood, steel, and concrete. If, you need anything you can contact General Bradley and he'll see about getting it. We are at your service until we depart in one weeks time. Our forces still on land will continue to provived border defense, however our forces on land why here will be at your disposal. Dietrich looked with hope over the new fleet. Below him, in the vastness of the ocean was once proud, sunken Farstran ships. Those were to be the last. The EFN prides itself on being able to bounce back from disasters, this was to be no exception.
Right then the troops and vehicles were being prepared for landing on the beaches, with the new fighters and multi-role aircraft available to them they shouldn't be faced with any pressure from above.

Reply DMG,
"There was a mistake made when the message was transmitted. When we replied with, 'We would agree to the following border, which splits the land basicly in half.' There was supposed to be a map attached with more-fairly represented our share of the island. We do remind you that so far, your occupation has been bloodless. We do not want to fight on two fronts, but if we are not respected or treated as equals - we felt quite generous in offering you the greater share with our revised map - then we would regret what must be done to ensure that the Felucan people are represented fairly."

Seeing as how you are getting the lion's share of land, we will not adhere to the first condition. The island is in an extremely strategic position to defend our mainland, and may serve as a staging point for future operations both offensive and defensive.
For you, it is simply an outpost. For us, it is a part of our strategic defense.

In that case, we cannot allow any of your soldiers or military force to come within ten miles of the border. I am sure you won't be needing that ten miles for your military and it gives us a sense of protection since you could be bringing hundreds of thousands of troops.

Considering we've allowed you to take advantage of our distraction with Farstra to sieze a huge portion of this landmass which we originally found, you are not in a position to dictate to us how we use our territory.
We will agree to the second and third conditions, but will -not- be pressed on how and where we station our own soldiers.

The fog of morning dissapears to the appearance of a submarine appearing abovewater about 150 yards offshore of the northeast.
"Are you sure about this entrypoint?" Asked Commander Stukov. Stukov had always been the questioning type. Even if it was a certain success plan, he always questioned it.
"Yes Commander," replied BSF Ensign Frodik (Bintic Special Forces). "We can enter from this northwest chunk sticking out of the island, from there we should be able to recon through shore guard posts. Once we reach he center, Doctors Kreiner and Dean can conduct their 'buissness'."
The Determination in Frodik's eye give Stukov an assured feeling of victory. Frodik had always been the best BSF squad leader, and every time he had that face, his victory face. Stukov knew they would suceed. And he always did.
"Allright, is everybody ready to swim for shore?"
"Good,"
Everyone was aiming for the islands land,

First of all, you did not allow us to take advantage of anything... that is why it is called taking advantage. While you may have originally found it, that does not rightfully or legally make it yours, nor did you even state to us in any official or public way that you had claimed dominion over the entire island.
Seeing as we did not take advantage of your conflict to simply wipe you off the island all together, I believe it is you who should be grateful. I find it particular hypocritical and insulting for you to tell us we can't dictate to you how and where to station your troops when that was the very first point of your conditions.
However, after stating all of this, which we find grossly disturbing, insulting, unprofessional, and unbecoming, we have concluded that our business with you is done. We have nothing further to say.

The option of beginning a second front against your forces was considered. However, we were under the opinion that the Dominion was above sweeping in like bandits to lay claim to what they did not earn. Were we incorrect?
Secondly, wiping us out is harder than you might think. - The proximity of our homeland by all intents and purposes, should be understood that you are expected to maintain a garrison, but not a force capable of an offensive.
No reply was sent to the Felucans. There was nothing left to say...
The Future
In the coming weeks and months, the new colony continued to blossom, though not in the traditional sense. It would remain closed to non-contracted civilians and thus the blooming was that of the industry. The oil production and a few mineral mines were increased as the town and military bases were solidified.
Eventually, after numerous changes in its orientation, the double layered secure thirty foot wall was finished along the agreed upon Dominion-Felucan border. There were three gates along the wall: one in the north, one in the middle, and one in the south, all of which were guarded by a contingent of one hundred soldiers and numerous vehicles.
The Colony has officially been ratified and all actions are deemed completed.

OCC: Last post for me to.
The Future
Over the following weeks, all military personnel of United Earthlings forces were loaded aboard ships or aircraft for the long journey back home. The trade agreement had been signed and ratified by both DMG and United Earthlings.
Both General Bradley and Colonel Shepperd, were glad to be leaving this Island. But, at the same time they were also not to happy. The first use ever of the military forces of United Earthlings outside its core territory had just ended with no new territory annexed, no enemies conquered. To alot of the senior commanders and their troops, this had just seem like one gaint exercise. Why Histories would debeat the reason even behind the invasion, that would be many years from now, but for now some good had come out of it atleast from an economic point of view. A new source of oil had been aquired without having to wage a major war. The sale of the land in of its self had payed for the operation with change lefted over. The military got to test new tactics and to see if it could work in a crisis. It had, though their were mistakes- improvements were being made to correct them.
As days turn into weeks and weeks into months, news of the Island gradually faded from the minds of the citizens of United Earthlings, until it was no more a topic of interest to the government and the people of United Earthlings.
OOC: Mandlorian: Unless Farstra really wants to fight, or DMG won't agree to my conditions.. it's basicly over already, mate. Besides, your nation already has a big military commitment with the Blackhelm thing. I somehow doubt you can fight on two fronts.
NS]Bintic: No. Just.. no. Please stop posting here.
OOC: Nah, I'll end it.
IC: The Prime Minister himself had called the fleet and overseas army, he wanted the assault halted, too many people had already died and the small island was not worth it. The fleet, with the armyt with them made thier way back to Farstra.
