MEDIUM ÆVUM
The Middle Age
This is a new idea that I've just gotten, after looking for a good RP that goes throughout world history with interesting twists. Right now, my post meter isn't very high, considering that my last nation was deleted [mostly because I forgot about it, but I should have known better than that :(] Anyway, I'll be opening this up to people for at most a week, before I decide whether this thing is worthwhile. If people are really interested in this idea, then I will open the RP earlier.
Some rules of conduct:
1. RP reasonably - no one likes bad rping, especially the veterans of yore. So please make a good effort to make things realistic, especially for an age that is so long ago. That's one of the things that I think makes these kinds of RPs exciting, so when someone becomes ballistic and starts to conquer the world [granted it will happen, but in a way that makes the world seem so small], it just spoils the game. So let's say this - if it spoils the RP, it's not reasonable.
2. Listen to the Moderations - I know that I'm not going to be the only uber-crunch for this period, so I'll probably recruit helpers to moderate the threads [albeit, they won't be called "mods", since that ticks the real mods].
3. No godmoding - this goes in hand with RPing reasonably, but this is ultimately one of my biggest pet peeves on NS. If you don't know what godmoding is, this is the wrong place for you.
4. Be constructive - this also goes in hand with RPing reasonably, but it also extends to OOC chatter, since I know that some people will resort to "bad" words frequently when pressed; you can read the long lines of "$%$#&*@%($#&"^*(!@#*^&#@&!&$^^#&!^@@&%&#^@!" when they see something stupid [either by others or themselves]. If it doesn't help the argument, don't say it. If it doesn't help the RP, don't post it. And no spams - I don't want real mod attention coming to this forum - I haven't seen a forum ban yet, but I've heard of them.
That's my list for now - it might grow, although I don't want to have to make it grow.
For the fun part, here's the details on the actual RP.
The RP will begin in the year 1000 CE. We will use real-world stats for the year 1000 CE to start up the game, and progress hopefully as far as we can get before the game become boring. Despite the early time, I think that we can find alot of nations to play around with - especially in Europe and Asia.
First of all, Europe is going to be hard to RP, since there are so many duchies and fiefs. The only country with the most centralized power is technically China [or Japan - depends on the historian] - even the Arabs have their problems, feuding over arguments in Islam. So, with that in mind, players will not have any centralized governments - instead, we will start off with fiefs and plots that will hopefully progress into a country of sorts by the 14th Century.
Years will progress by day until the year 1700, after which case, years will progress by week. At this rate, the year 1700 will come around in about two years and the year 2000 will come in at about 5 years. That means a lot of RPing will be done the old fashioned way - i.e. swords, arrows, and lots of rocks. Hopefully, no one will want a nuclear apocalypse in the year 1023, but I'm having my fingers crossed.
With all of that, who's interested in this?
