The Cadian Tomb
06-07-2006, 20:28
A blighted landscape, on the doorstep of the greatest calamity of an age, Cadia. Home to a devil greater than any seen before by man. The blight of Cadia, forced to dwell in this accursed place until his servants came to him, dwelling on this Warp tainted travesty, shattered by his wrath. The guard had served him well in death, feeding his hunger. The civilians, all had gone to slake the unending thirst of this, the darkest of beings.
Cusith. The Barghest. Cwn Annwn. Gwyllgi. Bodu. Many names, all a single creature. Blacker than even the deepest void of space, vaguely canine, or was it a humanoid, it strode a wasted landscape, seeking after its prey. A fleeing trio of Cadians, one stumbles, and is immediately silenced by the beast, his life ripped from his body.
Above the world, terror greater than any before appears to ravage this place further. The ships were sleek and swift, but deceptively powerful. No uncouth Gothic monstrosities, nor fragile Eldar these. Not Hive Ship nor Ork Hulk. Tau were unknown in this area. Chaos ventured here often, but even their dark majesty paled before the sight of these dozen vessels, a mighty fleet by any reckoning. The Tomb Ships of the Necrons.
Below them, a man screamed...

The Cadian Tomb

The massive constructions of the Necrons began to rise on the surface of Cadias blasted wastes. Being so close to the eye was an uncomfortable feeling for the mighty Ctan, so close to the foulness of the Warp. A bastion of some type was needed, however, and so he swallowed his distaste, to begin the building of his foul Tomb.
Hundreds of Necrons, a veritable army of the luifeless machines, began their work. Raising up the strange pyramids and pylons of their once proud race, readying the dwellings of their mighty God.
OOC: I'm kinda at a loss for posts right now. The usual protocol in my past experience hasd been "OMGFTLKILLZITNOW!!!", so I kinda expected to have interaction as soon as I posted. :p

The rising of a new Yngir was of interest to the Council, it caused worry and concern, simply because it threatened the still at times fragile progress that had been made with the being known now as Ranisath. still at the very least it had to be observed, and so it was that darvin's was directed to observe the threads of fate arising from this matter.
He sat now in mediaitation deep within the Crystal Dome of the Mighty Craftworld, around him Runes floated and visions where sought. Fate was followed, whatever was occuring on the blasted remains of a Mon-keigh world far away could change the future for the keigh, but it had to be dealt with carefully, too much rested in what was being done already. The keigh could not afford a mis-step here, if they proved a problem they would have to be dealt with, if however they could be used... Or even simply redirected towards lesser matters the Keigh would not act directly.
This then was the decision of the Council, to wait and see.
OOCly sorry that at the moment this is little more than an eleborate tag.

Yet another branch of wayward family had emerged. A curiosity that could never have been truly anticipated, least of all by the great and terrible Set'thiran. The Great Serpent had established his own bastion, the Soyq system held in his iron grasp, drained and scoured of all wretched life. He had tasted the death agonies of countless races down through the centuries, slept across vistas of near infinite time, and now, emerging once more into the Universe, he had delighted once again in slaughter, be it subtle or overt.
Now a new fragment of a greater whole returned, not the banshee, nor the Messenger. Not the Dragon, nor the abhorred and maddened Outsider. No, this was something other than the Lord of Insanity, or any of the other delightful monikers that his brethern chose.
He let his thoughts, if they could be called as such, turn to musing upon this latest development. His grandest vessel would be called forth, and he would journey forth to the benighted and Terrible Eye.
There was work to be done.

After a few hours of witnessing the movements of fate Darvins stood, certain things still confused him about this creature. It did not appear in any of his people's legends, on it's own not surprising not every one of the Star God's was remembered, after all it was at the dawn of their races history that these creatures last walked the galaxy.
Still this did raise other issues, if they could not draw upon the ancient tales it made it harder to place his reading's in a context. To go any deeper they needed information, luckily they had a potential source. With a gesture a Channel was opened, running through the web the message was transmitted from Mars, to the Ambassador Jill'nais far away.
'Ah Cetchuman I have attached some files we need you to take them to Ranisath, see what he makes of this. It appears a new Yngir has arisen on one of the Mon-keigh worlds. We do not know much about this creature, and would be thankful about anything he might be able to tell us. I am sure he would also be interested to hear one of his kin has awoken.'
The Cetchuman simply nodded no answer needed she turned and left. Picking up the data on her way, it wasn't much it was hard to get over the nature of a vision, but the pertainent information was included enough hopefully for some sort of identification.

ooc: Information acquired by way of Tor Yvresse -> The C'tan -> Websites operated by the same, as cleared on IRC. Oh, and a bit of fluid time is involved as well <.<
Screens switch on, minds are entered by datastreams, 3D images pop up out of the middle of nowhere.
Or not. Watching the news isn't compulsory. They're broadcasted anyway, though.
"Hello and good evening. My name is Miranda Veracruz de la Jolla Cardinal, and welcome to the eight o'clock news.
"Sources within the Eternal Necrontyr Empire have suggested that the seventh out of four remaining C'tan has... waitamoment... Hrm... Well, I suppose some idiot Eldar corrupted the holy texts and turned '40' into '4'... Anyway, a seventh C'tan, whose exact identity is hitherto unknown has apparently arisen. Travel within the general region the entity is speculated to exist in has been declared hazardous (That the critters can move at FTL velocities doesn't seem to concern anyone), but as the region has already been considered hazardous in the first place, this is of relatively little importance.
"In response to this developments, Chaos bitches. According to an undisclosed source, the present Emperor of Chronosia has stated that he 'wants more than four gods, too, DAMNIT! It's just not fair.'
"Rumours regarding a shadowy cabal of ships organising resistance movements among 'Unsuitably Developed Societies' still haven't been confirmed. The Strategic Engagement Unit Twink Factor has been quoted, saying that 'Any such rumours are laughable at best. The mere suggestion that ships could stage their own little Pseudo-wars without broad support from the general population can only be considered ridiculous.' However, further investigation by blogging-circles and conspiracy theorists have revealed..."
Switch off. Really, nothing interesting in the news, today.
The Zerg Infestation
07-07-2006, 21:17
The Swarm Comes..
No opponent was too powerful for the Zerg to strike; The Protoss, the Terrans, and even themselves. As world after world fell to the Overmind, the Zerg stole technology and adapted to themselves. Dozens of Terran battlecruisers were captured on Chau Sara when that world was infested. During the Battle of Aiur, where millions upon millions of Zerglings swarmed the mighty Protoss capital planet, the Zerg got away with a Protoss Arbiter, covered in Protoss, Zerg, and Terran blood alike..
They come now. Two score captured ships, led by the once-Terran owned battlecruiser Justice dropped out of hyperspace into the Cadia system. The name was irrelevant to the Zerg, actually. All they cared about was that it had a functional Yamato cannon, and they knew how to use it. Hundreds of thousands of Overlords carrying the Infestation dropped out behind them, closely guarded by wings of Mutalisks, Guardians, and Devourers.
There was no communication demanding surrender. No names given. Everyone in the Galaxy knew that distinctive look, the hideous blend of organics and technology, the smell of rotting flesh as Zerglings sacrificed themselves by the thousands to advance ten feet upon the enemy.
The Zerg came.

OOC Problems first off Cadia was annihalated into a field of rubble by CHaos during the Black Crusade
Second off the Imperium of Man keeps a large occupying force in the system and claims this territory as well as many base systems around it. Including the Arx Gap it allows the Ordo Malleus great observance power. This is hereby deemed a pointless thread and an act of war by anyone moving on the Cadian System which is under the control of the IoM. I give an official OOC warning before I attack ICly with my forces giving you all a fair chance to escape.

OOC: So... You'll attack... A Zerg Swarm, a Necron Tomb, an Eldar Craftworld, and possibly another couple of Necron Tombs, depending on who gets involved. That would be...unwise to say the least.
As for the field of rubble etc, I care not. I am not going to end my thread simply to satisfy your petty claim to a fictional system. Attack as you will.

Vessels of life... Food for the God... A buffet of varied lives to play out against his unmatched fury. Vessels moved among the heavens, orienting their massive forms towards the approaching foes with stunning swiftness. Bolts of sickly green energy shattered the void, clawing at the molecules and atoms of their foes, ripping them apart with a power poorly understood by human Mechanicus. Lightning, so at odds with this vaccuum they occupied, streaked through the endless darkness, reaching out towards one or another opponent.
Below the combatting juggernauts a small army waits, no more than 5,000 in total, spread out across an entire continent, matched against the sheer numbers of the enemy. It would be glorious slaughter. Cusith walked among his Warriors and Immortals, a dark presence, master of a dark army.
The first fools to touch this land would be met with the wrath of a being mightier than any they had ever known.

NS is freeform roleplay... if someone else cant do something because you occupy that system, then its an alternate reality where you dont, or some such... now shoo. And FYI, there is no NS canon, apart from the few things that will get you added to most peoples ignore. And you, by the way, are perilously close to becoming the second person on mine...

Ah! The enemy strikes the Swarm first. The Overmind recognized the immediate damage upon the obliterators, the battlecruisers of the Zerg. The shields were not at one hundred percent efficiency due to the infection; the Zerg were not capable of using all of the alien technology, so they just grew parts to replace it. A Terran battlecruiser, the Ragornak, fell before firing a shot, a thousand Zerg lives being snuffed out. However, as the Necrons would soon learn, a thousand Zerg lives extinguished was like trying to put out their sun with a bucket of water..
On the precious few battlecruisers that still had working Yamato cannons, numerous Zerg Drones integrated themselves into the mechanics and computer systems and opened fire, using the massive power of the Yamato against the forward Necron attack ship. Protoss carriers unloaded their interceptors, sending them on attack runs against the Necron tombships, and Terran guns that remained working opened fire with their burst lasers.
As the space battle ensued, the three hundred thousand Overlords that waited with the fleet began a perilous descent onto the planet, and any Necron looking up would see a shooting star...followed by hundreds of thousands more. The Overlords careened towards the surface, and the Overmind thought and sent orders to the Brood near the planet.
All Overlords are to impact in a circle around the defending Necron army. Build two Hives.
The Overlords, as they descended, spread themselves out in a wide circle around the small army of Necrons, and the first Zerg on Cadia walked. Thousands of Zerglings disembarked the Overlords, charging mindlessly at the Necron defenders. The Zerglings would die, certainly, but there were millions of Zerg on this planet now..

Plating buckled, hammered by the might of the opposing guns. And then, mysteriously, it began to repair itself. Seeming to flow back together, the gaping wounds in the Tomb Ships hull began to close as soon as they were dealt. Shafts of verdant energy once again boiled forth from the Necron guns, reaching out to score deep wounds into the hulls of opposing vessels, or to rip their shields to pieces, atom by atom...
Below, an army waited. Flayed Ones and Tomb Wraiths filled the front line, Spiders backing them. Following their bretheren the Flayed, Warriors and Immortals hefted powerful weapons, capable of destroying tanks with ease, and ripping even the powerful Asartes to pieces. Standing high above his loyal legions, a massive dog, seeming blacker than the deepest reaches of the oceans, eyes blazing with seeming infernal fire. Standing beside the representation of their God, seeming small by comparison, the Tomb Lord, and behind them, a score of Monoliths stood ready to advance into the enemy, shattering bodies with great bursts of Gauss fire. The greatest scourge of a hundred worlds charged to meet the doom of an entire galaxy...
Above the battle Jackals and Dirges flitted amongst the enemy Interceptors, lancing fel lightnings towards their nimble foes, and striking out at any larger ship that might bar their path.

OOC Well you are right on that no state however some claims Cadian Tomb made to me is what got me all riled up. After conversing in depth with Chronosia I found out a way that this works. Well I plan on getting involved since this is a direct threat to the IoM. On Kasr Partox inside A secluded fortress monastery of the Ordo Malleus an alarm sounded as the Auspex sensors went wild. The resident Inquisitor Tria rushed to the command center as the servos in his terminator armor whined with power. As he skidded to a halt Justicar Alaris bolted in right behind him. The Inquisitor looked at the screen and said, "It doesn't appear to be Chaos activity. However these readings are off the charts. The sensors are spiking off the charts. These readings are unique......but they are in fact of alien design. Ready the battleships and a force of your marines Justicar. I will contact the Ordo Xenos and call for their assistance. These readings indicate an alien creature that even the Eldar fear. These readings indicate the Necrontyr and even worse.........their C'tan lord." The Inquisitor turned and sent a message to the Ordo Xenos. This was high up on the Imperium's priority list and as such they sent a High Inquisition Lord.
Lord Gull was called to action for this imminent action and he was one of the Ordos best having faced the alien foes of mankind whenever they reared their ugly head. He drew up his weapons and boarded his Black Ship after recovering from some grevious wound delivered on him by a Dire Avenger Exarch before he drove his phase sword into the deadly being. As his mighty vessel moved from the Inquisition base a contingent of forty Imperial vessels followed suit. He smiled as the engines powered up with barely controlled energy and the vessels disappeared in a brilliant flash of light, reappearing seconds later near Solar Mariatus.
Moments later hundreds of Thunder Hammer and Deathwatch Marines readied themselves for battle as their vessels cloaked and moved silently towards the Ordo Malleus base. They were ready and once there they would meet up with their Grey Knight, Warpslayers, Hellblazers, and Daemonslayer brethern. With this threat also came another powerful vessel the Emperor's Wrath with the Psi-Lords and their Primarch Peras aboard. The Imperium would not underestimate such a powerful foe however they would wait and watch to see what the enemy would do. For the Inquisitors knew like the Blood Ravens that knowledge was power.
Inquisitor Gull, Peras, Captain Orios of the Deathwatch, and Captain Thera of the Thunder Hammers assembled in the command center. Opposite them Justicar Alaris, Inquisitor Tria, Captain Recos of the Warpslayers, Captain Orin of the Hellblazers, and Captain Gislor of the Daemonslayers. Inquisitor Tria met Lord Gull face to face and said, "We have determined that a Necron Tomb has awoken from the ashes of Cadia. They also have a C'tan Lord which would make seven recorded by the Ordo Xenos." Gull nodded and then looked at the auspex sensor saying, "Well let us hope that no more C'tan join this Necron in battle. I have brought Peras and his marines to aid us in this battle. I have equipped us as best as possible against the C'tan the only other thing we could hope for would be the Eldar themselves." Tria looked grim there is one other thing Inquisitor, "We have detected a new race of aliens a deadly race similar to the Tyranid. They call themselves the Zerg." Gull looked around and said, "Well it would appear we have forces to ready. Ready your Grey Knights Inquisitor as well as your other resident forces. We may have to interfere sooner or later. For now we must contact the Eldar. They have proven to be our enemies before however the Yngir concern them as well."
Moments later a coded transmission was sent out in the Eldar tongue,
Enemies of the Yngir we request your help in the battle against your oldest foe. We request an alliance with the Eldar in this battle against a mighty and terrible foe millenia old.
The Zerg Infestation

The Zerg were rapidly losing the space battle against the tombships, as the Yamato Cannon blasts had failed to do any serious damage, and as they recharged for a second blast, Necron gauss weaponry gutted fighters, disintegrated shields, and cut armour open. A Terran battlecruiser, as it fired it's Yamato Cannon at the superstructure of a Tombship, jumped to hyperspace, aiming to run into the Tombship at several thousand times the speed of light..
Protoss Interceptors and Zerg Mutalisks worked together under the control of the Overmind against the Necrons, killing and being killed; fighting and dying for the Overmind and the Swarm. The losses mounted in space as the Necron superiority was established..
On the ground, however, hundreds of thousands of Zerg landed, with the landings occasionally smattered with Necron anti-air fire, destroying an Overlord here or there. But still shock troops landed, creating the noose for the Necron army which was outnumbered so. One full million Zerglings had landed, and they became the first line of assault against the Necrons, covering ground quickly for they had no need for food or rest.
As they closed the distance, the Hydralisks and Ultralisks landed, massive beasts of war they were. With monomolecular blades as tusks, the Ultralisk could destroy Terran tanks effortlessly, and gut Protoss alike. They were not ready to advance yet; The Zerglings came first.
The losses would be massive for the Zerg, but it would be a victory, and a great victory it will be!

Shattering bolts of emerald fury crashed against ships and fighters alike. With the power to wipe out entire squadrons contained in some of those blasts, things would not go well for whatever vessel or creature was unlucky enough to be tagged. Dirges took hit after hit, seemingly unphased by the mounting damage to their hulls. Jackals, damaged beyond further use, shattered their swift moving hulks against the hull of whatever vessel came into their paths.
The Battlecruiser moving at Faster Than Light velocities would recieve a rude awakening, as it merely clipped a blade on the Harvester, ripping it away from the superstructure, so great was the impact. The speed at which these vessels moved and reacted was beyond reasoning, and only the Eldar were a true match against these eaters of the dead.
Standing still for a moment, a hush seeming to settle over the blighted wastes of Cadia, two armies face each other. Both terrify all those who oppose them. Both destroy any that bar their path. And both were going in opposite directions... Flayed Ones seemed a wretched sight, draped in the flesh of their fallen foes. Wraiths seemed to flicker from this reality, as though they were not totally real. Warriors hefted rifles capable of gutting tanks with a single blow, and Immortals waited. Silent death. Monoliths hulk over even Cusith himself, seeming at once ursine, canine, and humanoid. And then it changes. Has the battle suddenly sprung much closer? Foolishness. And yet, it almost seems as though the monstrosity has doubled in size. Once, a Barghest was thought to be a monster that devoured the souls of its enemies to increase its own strength. Now, it was all too true. Standing in the shadow of his God, a series of strange figures approach the Tomb Lord. His Scythe sheds fearful light on his features, and those approaching seem most out of place. Are they human, or something...more? Armed similarly to the Lord himself, bearing Scythes of war, a quintet of Cadian Pariahs moves among the soldiers of the Tomb.
Finally the silence ceases, though it has been but a moment, and the shattering cries of the approaching beasts are heard once again, as best a machine recognizes such things. Moving slowly at first, Flayed begin to break their ranks, flashing claws that are seemingly too long for anything effective, they are swift, and remain as deathly silent as they had in their motionlessness. Wraiths hover behind, terrifying to most foes. Many would say that what they saw could not be true, but it was. Wraiths sliding through obstacles and continuing on unhindered, leaving the object intact. Warriuors begin to advance slowly. And behind them all, terrifying in size and majesty, strode the Barghest. Seemingly unarmed and unarmored, he likely outmassed an Ultralisk by several times its weight, and he was armored in his very flesh, the Necrodermis that he inhabited able to shrug off blows from weapons mighty enough to sunder lesser warriors with ease.
Monoliths still stood above the mighty Ctan, but the difference was lessened, and their massive guns belched hatred, crushing into the Zerg ranks miles away, striking at enemies that could not even see to engage them. At their base stood the Tomb Lord, several Destroyers, half a dozen Immortals, the five Pariahs, and enough Scarabs to make anyone think twice about engaging this small, but extremely powerful, force.
The die was cast.
The Zerg Infestation

With a flash of light, the Zerg battleship Sarah Kerrigan de-hyperspaced. It was a ship grown for the purposes of the Zerg on the devastated world of Aiur, when the Protoss were soundly defeated by the Swarm. The Overmind sent it to tip the balance of the space battle against the Necrons, and at four times the size of a Terran battlecruiser, it could do that easily. It opened fire with it's acid-ball turrets, firing burning globes of acidic material that could eat through nearly any known material and continue to burn.
The arrival was perfectly timed, for there were precious few captured battlecruisers and Protoss ships remaining. Still they fought, dodging gauss gun blasts and returning with quad-laser fire. Protoss interceptors began to use their superior mobility to accelerate into the superstructures of the Necron ships, aiming to cripple them before the Sarah Kerrigan's fire hit.
On the ground, Necron artillery fire slammed into the ground, destroying scores of Zerglings per blast, but it was like throwing a rock into a wave, it never stopped. The Zerglings smashed into the front-lines of the Necrons, jumping and biting, attempting to gouge deeply into the enemy. These were the mere shock troops of the Zerg, and thousands were killed in the first few salvos of fire.
The cavalry soon arrived to support the Zerglings, in the form of the Hydralisks and the Guardians. Guardians had such a long range that it was nearly artillery for the Zerg, and it fired in the general direction of the Necron artillery, given a safety net of the open air. Hydralisks, when they got in range of the front-line, fired their projectile spines at the Necrons, outnumbering the Necrons by 600-to-1.

How positively delightful when ones siblings re-emerged, especially when they brought such new and diverse promise. An entire race of the biological, almost a beautiful paradigm lay like a feast before them, the stranger far below. The vessels came into being, runes and symbols upon their hulls identifying them as agents of the Great Serpent. The Devourer.
Upon the deck of the largest tombship, it languished, watchign the tortured world below, stiffling a chuckle. It had refined melodrama to a high art amongst its servants, and it itself was no different. gesturing lightly, brought two favored Lords to its side. One had been named as Devourer of Light in the days of the Eldar, the other bore the title of The Serpents Maw, named so by those who had witnessed its predations engulf whole systems in the name of Set'thiran.
"We shall proceed swiftly to the surface and determine if it is one of my errant siblings who shows its face at last upon the Universe, or whether it is some poor imitation. I will not have my harvests disrupted by dissapointment in the shadow of this travesty." Mighty constructs held the warp at bay, and Pariah's would dutifully suppress the taint of the psyker within his halls, but the ugly blotch upon the face of existence, the plane of bruised and battered space and time, was still an eyesore.
"Go forth, my favored sons. Let them know again the stench of fear"
They nodded. The Maw seemed to gaze out at the world for a moment, a faint amusement, or at least a shadow of it, crossing his mind. Long ago he had been liberated from the Flesh. Yet he remembered much, and understood still more of his Lords designs. He was not pure and soulless as his kin, but he was favored, and the idea of pleasing his Master and once again tasting the resistance of the living pleased him, in so far as he could be content.

However, in case of..upsets...they began planning, surreptitiously. The star could not be made to go nova and kill the entire system; however it would be possible to induce a solar flare that would make conditions uncomfortable for most lifeforms for a few days.
The process of inducing a flare was complex, time-consuming, and would become obvious in it's latter stages to all within the system. However the risk of failure was judged worthwhile.
A General Systems Vehicle stopped off about a dekalight from the system, and disgorged several Fast Combat Units. These would be sacrificed in the attempt. They risked detection in their approach, but the fleets in-system all appeared occupied, so again the risk was judged worthwhile. The attempt continued.
OOC: Hopefully that is more acceptable to you, and clearer as to my intent. For clarity FCUs are...sort of light cruisers...so quite a small force. And if you bother to engage them, there will be no solar flare. If you don't, many will die on the planet's dayside, but by no means all.

The temptation was to let the various factions of evil kill one another.
However, in case of..upsets...they began planning, surreptitiously, to make the star go nova. It would be difficult, and require sacrificing several Fast Combat Units as their effectors manipulated the star sufficiently...and if interrupted the blast would be disappointing.
Nonetheless a GSV moved to within a kilolight, and the FCUs left it to quietly make their way towards the star at the heart of the fuss.
Huh, yeah no. One, you're killing a system, which is twinky enough, two you're gonna do it without my permission, three you're going to do it in my freaking INTRO THREAD, to my HOME PLANET. That's WAY out of line. Random fleet of bioships is cool, OMGSYSTEMKILL! is not.

OOC: Huh. Not the response I expected. Maybe I should have OOCed that I wasn't actually planning to do it...just use that as a way to become involved, in a small way, with the goings on in the system. Obviously that wasn't clear from my post. Edit in progress.

An entire fleet... Something unseen for a very long time by these servants of the Ctan. These dozen capitol ships were all that remained of the fleet that had once answered to Cusith. And now, aid from a lost brother. Unforseen, but not unwelcome.
Shards of lightning ripped away from the necron vessels still engaged in combat, with the escorts sweeping away the opposing fighters, and easily able to match their speed, things were swiftly calming down above the planet. All that remained were the capitol vessels of their opponents. Arcs of lightning and particle whips snapped through the distances, clawing at the enemies remaining defenses. The new arrival recieved a singular honor. The activation of the Star Pulse Generators of the Necrons. 4 of them reached out in a radius of several thousand kilometers around each vessel, any opposing vessel within that range would be hammered by the strikes. Individually they were less powerful than the Lightning Arcs and Gauss Particle Whips, but they were much more broadly ranged, and more able to damage multiple vessels in a single strike. Combined with the continued lancing of the main batteries, this battle should soon be finished.
On the ground things were not looking so pleasant. Cusith waded through piles of bodies that stood dozens of feet deep, and stood toe to toe with an Ultralisk, grappling with the beast for a moment, and then pausing mysteriously. Hmm... My brother is come to aid us, but which? Such unlooked for assistance is most welcome... It would be well to preserve what I might from my remaining legions, and retire from the field. Allow my sibling to aid me in this endeavour. Then let us retire, and fall back to our tomb, to await the coming of my lost brother.
And it was done. Disappearing totally, even the dead did not remain on the field at the end of combat, being taken back to the tombs by the action of their God. The Lord was shattered, his torso remained intact, but from the waist down was a twisted ruin. Several hundred assorted Warriors, Flayed, Immortals, Wraiths, and Spyders had survived the battle, but that was the extent of the army. Barely a quarter of the army remained, overwhelmed by sheer numbers.

A silent and invisible Strike Cruiser sat in space and watched the battles on the planet but then the alarms sounded as another Necron fleet came into Cadian System. Inquisitor Gull was watching the Auspex sensors when they finally registered not one but two C'tan. Inquisitor Gull was now shocked and he looked at Peras who nodded silently. Peras then spoke, "It appears they have surrounded themselves with protection from my gaze. Cadia has always been hazy but this new C'tan has guarded himself just as well." The Inquisitor nodded saying, "I do not know what they have planned but against so many C'tan I do not know what we could do. They are incredibly powerful and incredibly gifted. And while you, my Primarchial friend, are powerful I do not think even you could stand against two C'tan. We will continue to watch then we will make our move."

OOC: Iain M Banks style effectors...the whole concept of my intervention robbing shamelessly from his Culture. Thinking back to Look To Windward, where they talk about two stars having been destroyed...whoops.
IC: Arcing in, well above the plane of the ecliptic, the five FCUs were about an hour out from the star. Once there, they would enter its outer layers, testing their shielding to stay hidden; scatter to dispersed points around it; and begin their work.
Not one expected to return afterwards, though they had not given up hope.

Any ships attemptingto slip past Necrons would be sorely disappointed. The fastest ships in the(ir) known universe set off in pursuit. A quartet of swift Raiders led the way, while a pair of Shroud Cruisers, and a single dealy Scythe followed close behind. The Lightning Arcs of the Dirges would harrass the opposition, until more powerful vessels could be brought forward. The Star Pulse Generator of the Scythe would be most useful in dealing with the cluster of opponents, with enough range to mete out death and destruction to most any vessel in the surrounding area.

The Strike Cruiser began to work it's way deeper into the territory of the C'tan Lord. They closed in on Cadia with sensors going wild at the massive readings they were gaining. The Inquisitor looked carefully at Peras and it seemed he was beginning to develop a headache from trying to use his powers to scan the planet below. Slowly the Strike Cruiser entered high orbit and opened up it's sensors to full power. The weapons were readied for firing and the cloak was holding and soon the would strike.

They might strike, but not at the target they expected. As soon as their sensors came fully online they were targeted. Those emissions were impossible to miss, especially with Necron technology. With the Zerg being swiftly eliminated in space, and an allied fleet in evidence, there was little need to focus solely on the biological feast. Which is why the Cairn, and a Scythe, directed all of their weapons solely at it. Powerful shards and webs of Lightning reached out to hammer at the enemy, and Gauss Particle Whips tore at defenses, while they closed with the intruduing ship.

Peras had caught the signs before even the trained sensors of the Strike Cruiser did. He called out and the ship moved with amazing agility to avoid the most powerful of the attacks. However the ship shook as armor plating was ripped from the hull and many of the weapons systems were rendered useless. Inquisitor Gull called out orders, "Raise shields and drop the cloak. Target the Shroud with full lance batteries and the bombardment cannon. Let loose with full salvoes of quantum and stasis torpedoes let's leave that ship and the area surrounding it in a state of frozen time. And power up the fold drive to jump to rendezvous point Mike." With those swift orders the plasma lance batteries opened up with their full force on the Shroud followed up by the torpedoes and the bombardment cannon. Then in a brilliant flash of white light the Strike Cruiser disappeared completely from the sensors of the Necron.
The fold was too rapid with the ship so heavily damaged and many of the people aboard the Strike Cruiser had passed out from a feeling of vertigo. Peras was one of the last to awake because of the psychic shock his system had endured. The proper fields had been raised barely in time but it was necessary for them to have survived. Peras looked around and soon his psychic powers began to return to him. He ordered, "Fold space into the gravity well of Kasr Partox so the Necron fleet won't detect our location." Then in another flash of light the vessel appeared in the gravity well where it docked with the orbital yards venting atmosphere. The surviving crew returned to the fortress and the Inquisitor battered as he was began planning. It wouldn't take long for the Strike Cruiser to be repaired using the dockyards in orbit. Now it was time to plan an attack on these enemies. The Inquisitor opened up communications with fleet command and sent a coded transmission,
We have found the location of two Cairn-class Tombships. The enemy is strong here and there are two known C'tan we require reinforcement fleets as soon as possible.
A few hours later nine hundred Imperial vessels had readied themselves for combat in the Asurian System. From there they would fold space to join the remaining Imperial vessels in the Cadia system to battle the C'tan threat. Space Marine Fleets and Imperial Naval Fleets would join the fray in one large offensive.

OOC: Perhaps you mean the Scythe?
IC:
The lances of the opposing ship shook the sturdy vessel, and fort a moment, it seemed like things would end badly, until the Star Pulse Generator of the Scythe wiped the torpedoes from space.

The Copen Republic had been known to meddle in the affairs of those who lived in the Milky Way Galaxy. In the long-run, they'd tried to bring several representatives from each space-fairing nation into their midst. In some cases, this worked. However, some six thousand years ago, the Republic had tried this before.
With the Necrons.
Realizing the danger they posed to the universe, the Republic at the time decreed that eternal war would be waged against the C'Tan to purge them from the universe.
They had been successful in their galaxy, and now it was time to move on to another.
A hole in the fabric of space-time opened not more than five million kilometers away from Cadias. From this wormhole spewed forth two Colony-class ships.
Each cylindrical ship dwarfed even the mighty Cairn Tomb Ships, measuring nearly thirty miles in length and ten miles in diameter. Within them were hundreds of thousands of smaller ships, some barely breaking six hundred meters. Although these ships paled in comparison to the mighty Colony-class ships, they, by no means, were weak.
Piloting these said craft were tens of millions of people from many different races, the most notable races being the Eldar, Tau, Sangheili, Protoss, and Terran. To the C'Tan, the number of creatures presented to them would be a near-eternal buffet.
A transmission was then opened, directed specifically to the frequency that the C'Tan actually spoke with each other on in their own realm.
"Your presence in this galaxy is unwanted as much as it was unwanted in our own. Prepare to feel the wrath of those who you've slaughtered in the past."
As the transmission ended, the ships seemed to literally slide out of existence, only to appear nearly ten thousand kilometers from Cadias in a blink of an eye.
They had tesserected.
Almost immediately after reappearing, the Colonies opened their main hatches, releasing thousands of ships, along with their payloads of mobile suits. As soon as the ships had made it to clear space, they began pouring them, consisting mainly of Den'an, Berga, and Vigna series mobile suits.
The mobile suits rushed forth towards the fray between the Zerg and the Necrons, firing their beam rifles at any hostile contact they met. Their mother ships followed suit, blasting away with their stronger mega particle cannons, heaving a massive barrage into the enemy.
The Colonies had a similar idea, but on a larger scale. From the weapon hatches on their exterior, twenty Keilas Guille-class anti-orbital satelite cannons protruded, focusing on the two Necron fleets. They charged, showing a bright purple glow near the tips of their barrels, until they unleashed their own barrage, each shot capable of sheering holes into even the mightiest of star ships.

My god that is wanky... I'm not even going to dignify that admittedly well written piece of trash with a response.
I mean, good god. That had better be your entire freaking NAVY. And not just that, it had better be your entire damn MILITARY. I mean, honestly, you describe yourself as having tens of millions of troops, and hundreds of thousands of ships. There are nations at 6 billion that don't have more than 6,000 ships. Get out of my thread.

And folks, if you're going to play the Culture, at least do it to the hilt. The Culture doesn't just send things to kill, SC's Minds debate at some length how to proceed, usually in a complex way involving pressuring a civilisation at key points. If there's meant to be innocents on the planet... That's absolutely not their MO. Megadeathcrimes are bad. Mmmkay? Further, it takes them time to do stuff. They're not necrons, their top speed is in the hundreds of kilolights. Getting agents to somewhere is often a goodly slice of the book.

My Ctan has to be physically THERE to talk to you. And the Necrons communicate by $handwaveordertransmissions. And, as a Necron fan, I could swear Ctan actually lived, as a general rule when they lacked Necrodermis bodies, in suns. And a sun does not their own realm make.

Nah, I mean The Culture (http://www.cs.bris.ac.uk/~stefan/culture.html), which is what the guy who wanted to make the solar flare was basing his stuff on. You'll usually find Cusith in a star, or on the bridge of the Cairn you see in orbit currently.
I would not compare Guard with Colonial Militias, UED, or Confederate Marines. Well, maybe with the Colonials, but not the rest of them. 'toss and Terrans fell out pretty quickly after the Overmind died, and Eldar are notoriously fickle.
