1453:
A group of men, dressed in Byzantine robes, stood together in a room. These men were nobles of the Old Empire. ''We must flee Constantinople. We can bring citizens with us and build a new Empire.''
''Leave the City, the Cathedral to these Turks?!''
''Unless you want us to see St. Peter early or be enslaved.''
After a discussion, they decided to go. They boarded ships with citizens and sailed away, looking behind as their city was in flames and their city fell to the Ottoman Sultan, Mehmed II, Fatih.
They had several groups of ships, some had Orthodox clergy on them. They sailed for a time before landing on a piece of land. Looking, they saw a great land, bountiful, filled with many things. They landed and began exploring the land. They claimed it:
''In the name of God, the Eternal Father, We, Byzantines, claim this land in the Banner of Constantinople.''
New Constantinople was to be built and in some time, it was built. The Cathedral of Thanksgiving was built, in honor of finding the land. Orthodox Christianity became the head faith, Greek Orthodox, etc. In some time, more towns and cities were built and Orthodoxy spread.
The Emperor, Constantine I is said he did not want to be called Constantine XII. However, some did give him the name, Constantine XII.
Constantine I is known for building the Cathedral of The Trinity, a great cathedral built in honor of the Trinity. It was a project like Justinian's Hagia Sophia. Constantine I built it and soon had it the place where Emperors were crowned.
After Constantine I, Constantine II took power. He was a good hearted man and began expansion once more. After several rulers, it was Manuel II who began trade with Europe.
However, it was John IV who had to deal with relations with the state, of the Ottoman Empire. The Sultans were a bit surprised that the Byzantines were still kicking and they opened trade and relations.
Constantinopolia in the 1700's was a peaceful society. The Cathedral of the Fall is a cathedral built in the 1600's where you can hear laments for the Fall of Constantinople, May 29 is a Anniversary Day. When it is Tuesday, May 29, you can see marches and crowds of people, in remembrance of the Fall of Constantinople.
Constantinople's founding is also a holiday. Another holiday is the Coronation of Emperor Constantine I, known as Coronation Day. The day Constantinopolia was founded is also a holiday.
Constantinopolia's national language is Byzantine Greek, the majority faith is Orthodox (Greek, etc) Christianity. Catholics (Roman and Eastern), Protestants and possibly others do exist.
A statue of Constantine XI is in the capital, New Constantinople, in Palaeologus Square. There is also a statue of Mehmed II, in battle with Constantine XI, near the Museum of Constantinopolia where Byzantine things are stored.
