Adronado, Midiri System
"We have just recieved the ESUS declaration of war, we, the Grey, need to decide our position in this combat. I vote that we stand with our allies in the Federation and begin all possible defensive measures to defend our people." said Delenn, the leader of the Grey.

"It is my position that we remain neutral. There is insufficient evidence that the GFFA caused this conflict and we can attempt to negotiate a peace with the ESUS. It is my belief," a Worker Caste representative said, pausing, "That this war is not as it seems, that a member of the GFFA has betrayed us!"

Those words caused an uproar in the chamber of the Grey, the two Warrior Caste representatives being the loudest.

"Where is the proof that any of our allies in the Federation have betrayed us? They have always stood by us, and we must stand with them. I vote that we mobilise the Mothball fleet and move into defensive positions." Satai Branmer of the Wind Riders clan said.

The response to this was cheering, the Warrior Caste favouring this obviously by the sheer amount of noise they created.

"Order, Grey. Order." Delenn said calmly, and the noise ceased.

"Grey, we have two choices here: We can save ourselves, or we can save everyone. Many Minbari will be lost as the oncoming darkness attacks us, and we must stand as a barrier for them. We will mobilise the fleet immediately. Satai Branmer, I am placing the supreme Fleet Command in your hands. This session of the Grey is dismissed."

Midiri System
Sensor systems went wild on Voidkeeper Station as hundreds of Minbari vessels jumped in-system, taking up defensive positions around Minbar proper, Voidkeeper Station, or one of the four Adronado class flagships in the solar system. Almost all vessels had reported as in transit or had already jumped in, save the White Stars that were out on deep space missions.

Transport Freighter, Midiri System, Mothball Fleet Area
On an unmarked transport freighter, thousands of crewmembers prepared to be transferred to their newest assignment in the Minbari fleet, a ship in the Mothball Fleet. These three hundred odd vessels had been retired between one and ten years ago, still in working order if necessary, but crew requirements necessitated their retiring. Now with this new declaration of war, sailors were being reactivated left-and-right and transferred to the Mothball Fleet.

"Where are you headed, Dur?" Barai ra Fi'sularae asked a longtime friend of his in the Worker Caste, Durlan ra Fi'irilmer.

"A Sharlin, I think it's called 'Valeria'. I heard it was retired about thirty years ago after the end of the Earth-Minbari war." Durlan answered, lounging on his bunk.

"I'm off to one of the Tinashi refits, I believe it's 'Hakan'."

"Ahh..Hakan, my dad served on that one during the Earth war. He worked in the engineering room, not glamorous but he served."

"The Grey's issued a call to arms for everyone able, I heard a wild rumour that we're going to be attacked by a few thousand ships. Our ships are good, but I doubt we're that good.."

"Don't be a pessimist, Barai. It's likely just to be a false alarm, we aren't the largest nation in the Galactic Federation, probably not a huge threat."

"You never know, Dur.."

Right then, the alert blared as the freighter reached it's first destination, the Sharlin-class vessel Hakan.

"All worker caste members assigned to Hakan, go to Docking Bay Four. Repeat, all worker caste members assigned to Hakan, go to Docking Bay Four."

"Nu'Ardri Unn'an, ai'fa Zhan, Durlan." Barai said in the Minbari language of Adronato. The phrase roughly meant "Live long, and be victorious" when translated to english.

"Ai'nu, Barai." Durlan said as he left the crewroom, headed to the docking bay.

It would be the last time Barai would see his friend..

Outside Whyatican Space -

Coming out of the gate, the ESUS forces quickly formed up into their respective nations fleets. The hundred ships in the Flaming Souls fleet split quickly and efficiently, with Rasputin's heading out to do quick scouting missions, accompanied by Megan vessels. The Balroggans swiftly took flanking positions to prevent surprises. The hulls of the mighty fleet shining dimly in the distant light of some unknown sun. The ESUS banner displayed proudly on most.

Galeel watched with pride as the ships did what needed to be done with no bickering. Time to get this done he thought dryly.

The ebon ship of the Empire faded into immateriality as they made the Uplift into T-Space.

Once there, the Infiltrator Cruisers extended their sensor ranges by deploying the Triple-S ships in their flight bays. The immensely powerful sensors began to peer down into Real Space searching for any hint of their prey. They also looked for traces of Hyper-spatial anomalies.

The battlegroup used their drives to quickly get into position and waited for the Prey to show.

Soon they will make the mistake and resist.

"Sir, we've just recieved a transmission from the Hunter's Mercy." the comm officer reported soon after exiting from hyperspace.

"Go ahead." responded Roran.

The audio played over the intercom of the ship, as well as over the intercom's of the rest of the Megan fleet. After it finished, Roran ordered a channel opened in order to address his fleet.

"This is Fleet Admiral Roran Telasnor. By now, you have recieved your assignments and instructions. I trust that you will follow them with the dignity and tenacity of a Megan soldier. Know this, you WILL heed the orders of any superior, even if they are not a Megan. Derision and disrespect to any superior will not be tolerated. I cannot stress this enough. Our actions as a fleet must be fluid, with no discrepancies. I will not have it recorded in history that a battle was lost due to a failure on part of a Megan."

He paused to allow each Megan who hadn't to grasp the enormity of the situation.

"Take heed, for each of your names will be recorded in the Manuscript (Megan book that retains the names of persons of distingued service to the Entente) as heroes. Remember this in battle, and let it spur you on to victory. Telasnor, out."

Roran couldn't physically hear it, but he knew in the back of his mind that a battle cry had been uttered collectively from the entirety of his fleet.

Voidkeeper Station, Midiri System
RED ALERT - HOSTILE SHIPS INBOUND

"Shai Alyt, the anti-cloaking net has detected several cloaked vessels entering the system. My best guess says that they are scouting our system, not a full-out attack. The automated defense systems are tracking them now."

"Give the defense satellites the order to open fire on them, destroy them before they can get more information. Arm all jump-point mines, when their larger capitals enter the system they'll be used against them. What is the closest task force to us?" Shai Alyt Kalan said to his First Officer, who responded with "Task Force Gamma, sir. They're two AUs off."

"Order Task Force Gamma to take up defensive positions around the station, bring in Task Force Alpha and Beta. All other forces are to defend Minbar, this is possibly a feint to draw our defenders away from Minbar. Send a transmission to all GFFA members, ask for reinforcements, it will be some time before the ESUS fleet arrives in it's entirety and if this is just a fluke we can reinforce others who need it. Open fire when the enemy forces are in range, and I will be in the battle bridge." the Shai Alyt Kalain said in the general direction of his Executive Officer, as he broke into a sprint towards the combat bridge.

The door slid open to the combat bridge and automatically sealed itself as a 3D view of the soontobe battlefield. It showed faint outlines of ESUS cloaked scout-ships as they drew closer to Voidkeeper Station and the ring of defensive satellites that were the first line of protection. Kalain saw four satellites gaining power readings as their shielding and stealth systems powered up, locking onto the lead ESUS scoutship.

Space, Defensive Satellite Ring
Four type IX defensive satellites powered themselves up when the order came in from Voidkeeper Station, powering up their one anti-capital neutron cannon and several of the lighter point-defense guns. These four satellites targetted the lead ESUS scoutship as it approached, continuing to trip the gravitic/emission early detection sensors.

Other satellites powered up and moved into positions to attack the next wave of ESUS attackers, using the famed Minbari stealth that served so well against many younger races. The first satellite opened fire on the lead scoutship, exhausting it's shot for ten minutes until it could recharge for a second shot. The other three satellites soon followed, spraying the area with point-defense rounds. A missile sat locked onto the formation with an anti-cloak missile, which accelerates to appreciable fractions of lightspeed before exploding forward, sending shrapnel and shards of explosive materiel at high speeds.

Task Force Gamma, two Astronomical Units away from Voidkeeper Station, made small arcing turns and accelerated past the outer defense ring and prepared to make defensive maneuvers to defend the station.

The ESUS-GFFA war had touched the Federation, and they would not be defeated..

OOC:Um, none of us posted anything about cloaks. FS said he had sunlight glinting off his hull and I don't even possess cloaks. You can see us, unless this was arranged over MSN.

It would not change the outcome so it doesn't really matter but I felt it was important enough to mention.

IC:

"We are picking up launch signals from our long range sensors. They regestered on gravemetric and dimensional but did not show on conventional sensors."

"They must be using some sort of cloaking system. Relay a copy of the readings modified so their systems can handle the data. Convert it to a standard STC reprensation abd encode the data with the agreed ESUS encryption."

Moments later, the data stream was being received by the allies of the Empire.

Deep within T-Space, BattleGroup Sigma watched and waited for orders. They had been instructed to cover the flank of the fleet and immediately Uplifted to enable them to simply pop out when the Prey foolishly attempted to attack the main body.

That would be another phase of the operation.

Until then, the ships would remain in T-Space relaying the tactical information they were able to collect on the movements of Wyatica ships.

The details of the encounter with the scout ships and the Minbari response were carefully studied to detect any sort of weakness in their ships. The tactics of the defenses the aliens used were also studied. The data files from the ESUS were used to determine any possible patterns. This was when it was discovered tin the Imperial Records a report of a recent encounter of ships from Wyatica in the Trill system. There was footage of three Minbari ships fighting some alien vessel before they left using some sort of wormhole or rift. There was also a large vessel over 15 times larger than the Empire’s Intruder Carrier serving as their Command Ship during this maneuver.

The data was added to the report the AI was compiling.

For the time being, there was nothing for the Empire to do other than watch and wait.

OOC:

Sorry, I am not part of the actual survey group.

For the record, the ships I have in this Theater are:

Intruder Carrier - 1
Kython Battleship - 2
Infiltrator Cruiser - 3
Interceptor Destroyer - 3
Kython Frigate - 7

You can find details about them OOCly on my web site link in the sig.

Aboard the USS Allanea

There was a powerful flash of light as the enormous Management Buyout Mark I Mod B battleship Around it, more, smaller Allanean ships tore into realspace with a happy firework of flashes. And aboard the ship, Captain Josh McKinley was standing at attention, as he listened to the voice of Grand Admiral McCoy, rebroadcasted through a thousand loudspeakers all over the Management Buyout and other ships of the fleet – the monstrous Freestar III carriers, the small-sized Mgweni-class cruisers, and the miniature Hugheys.

“Crew. Sailors. Allaneans. We is about t'enter combat aginst th' Whyatican Minbari wifin a few hours. This hyar is our duty t'th' safety of th' galaxy. This hyar is our duty t'th' ESUS alliance. This hyar is our duty t'Allanea, t'liberty itse'f. “

The sailors – happily, except for a small badge bearing the symbol of the ship and a pair of armbands with your rank, there is no uniform duty in the Allanean navy, except of course on parade – stood at attention. Some wore elaborate (though assless) fursuits, some wore the shirts of their favorite TV shows, and one strange fellow wearing a Roman toga.

“This hyar is a duty – an' this hyar is a duty in which ah knows yo' will perfo'm fine. Yer Allaneans – Hashi, Mgweni, elves, Ferengi, human, Dohwar – ah knows yo' will all perfo'm fine today. Th' Whuffo'aticans is weak. Their culture is based on an outdated caste system, dawgone it. Their navy is small, ah reckon. ah tell yo', varmints, we will easily triumph! Fry mah hide!”

Next to Captain McKinley, a Ferengi female in traditional garb (except for the obligatory badge and armband) nodded happily at this. Next to her, a Hashi officer with a head shaved bald winked at her and touched her earlobes slightly. The whole 'attention' thing was very loosely followed in the Allanean navy, really.

“Th' Minbari navy is inferio' t'th' joint ESUS fo'ces in ev'ry respeck. Due t'this, all off-duty personnelnel is to repo't t'th' recreashun decks of their vessels as of this hyar moment. ah recommend yo' git out th' wine, th' beer, th' hemp an' th' eckies, an' proceed t'drugs, sex, an' rock'n'roll, on account o' by th' time it's yer shif', we is a-gonna haf won this hyar war an' celebratin' on th' beachces of Yedor! Fry mah hide! Now, hoof it! Gunners, t'yer turrets! Ev'rybody else... it's party time.”

Forty minutes later, Deck 567-B of the enormous USS Allanea was full of sailors, Space Marines, and so forth, drinking and carousing in all sorts of strange ways. High-power loudspeakers roared – they had a ten-meter safety zone around them that people were prohibited from going into for their own safety – they were playing a song, the same song that was now transmitted all over the Allanean fleet and all over the star system on a multi-frequency broadcast playing at full power – strong enough to fry some old receivers outright if they were too near it.

“I Never Gonna Leave You Alone
The Tide Is High And The Groove Is On
She Said Her Name Was Cindy
'Would You Like A Drink Of Me?'
Bikini On The Left, Daquiri On The Right
Come And Give Me Lovin' All Through The Night
Do The Wild Thing, Dingalingaling

The Captain bent over his table and sniffed down a long line of UltraCoke. This was a great night. Below him, he could see that Mgweni officer, now without his shirt, kissing the Ferengi lady's earlobes He saw meth and PCP beng 'smuggled' out of the party room – for the on-shift people, he guessed. He didn't mind – as long as it wasn't beer or THC, which would make them fall asleep on shift. These particular drugs would actually enhance their capability to do their duty. And so they were good, thought the Captain.

And so did the Allanean ships approach the Minbari system. And they were many, and they were powerful. And their music also made them painfully obvious.

Captain Jay Strack studied the readouts on his personal command console, his thin, wiry frame stooped at an odd angle, due to his height. His purple-hued eyes darted around, scouring the smooth surface of the PCC. Occasionally, he would tap something, coaxing a 'beep' from the console. Scanning the sensor readout, Jay's body stiffened, the violet hair on his neck stood on end, and a frown swept his face.

A glance at his tactical officer was acknowledged by a nod, confirming Jay's silent order. Jay gripped his PCC, and held fast as his Oberth-class destroyer, the Ninevah, was rocked by the first volley of fire. The tac officer spoke first.

"Shields holding, captain."

Jay allowed himself to sigh relief on the inside. They had not been obliterated by the initial defenses as a fly is smashed by a flyswatter.

"Return fire! STS cannons, full barrage. Fire missile racks one and two."

"Aye, sir." Was the quick response from the tac officer.

Their war had finally begun.

---------------------------

Roran paced the bridge of the Falcaro, to the great annoyance of his bridge crew. Some even began to speculate on the degree of his worry, and whether or not he was fit to command such an undertaking. Roran's thoughts proved to be his own, however; worry had not the power to drive him to circle about his comrades, it never had. The emotion that spurred such action in Roran was that of anticipation. Anticipation of glory. Anticipation of honor. Anticipation of the adrenaline rush. The comm officer jolted up, nearly falling over his chair.

Anticipation piqued.

"Captain! Scouts report contact with Whyatican defenses. Scans indicate a grid of satellite platforms have opened fire, and several of our ships recipricated. Initial casualty reports coming in now, sir."

"Direct them to my PCC." Roran responded as he crossed the bridge in two strides. His grey-green hued eyes softened as the names of two of his destroyers leapt under the killed-in-action category. His heart felt for the crews lost, as any good commander's would, but he didn't dwell on the inevitable, instead ordering his comm to query the Hunter's Mercy as their Soulian commander's orders.

“Sir, I am picking up several vessels appearing in the system>”

“Damn! Whose are they?”

“The transponders coincide with registered ESUS member Allanea”

“Any sign of Enemy activity? What of the survey squad sent forward?”

“Long range sensors show the destruction of several Megas destroyers.”

“Continue to relay the converted sensor reading to the rest of the fleet through encrypted ESUS channels.”

“Sir, should we send in reinforcements?”

“Negative. Allenea or one of the others can do that. We have our orders. If the Enemy tries to outflank the group, we get to deal with them. Until then, we just sit and watch.”

The Imperial Battlegroup continued to remain scanning the distant battles with their sensors and relaying the information into Real Space so their allies would know what is happening.

Sorry, orders…

“Ma'am, we're going to emerge into the Minbar system in one minute.”

“Understood, thank you.” Kifung Manaan sighed and glanced at the three-dimensional plot, displaying a midsized planet with a large ice cap and two moons. “The Minbar Federation has requested that we exit hyperspace and maneuver to their Voidkeeper Station. We will remain on station approximately 500 kilometers from it, providing additional hyperspace sensors and hyperspace inhibitor systems.” She nodded and tilted her head to the left. “Our true purpose here is to observe the actions of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, which is why we will continue using full ECM and ECCM until we are given orders by the Minbar to open fire.

She stood up and pointed a hand towards the forward viewscreen. “Keep in mind that we are one of the only two purpose-built Nalthoran scout cruisers in the 15th Expeditionary Fleet, and that our business here has two purposes as well – one, to provide early warning systems for this Voidkeeper Station, and two, to not get shot and die!”

“Exiting hyperspace in 5 seconds.”

“Thank you. Upon exiting, spool up the laser systems so that we can quickly engage targets if necessary, and activate the ECM and ECCM systems.” She sighed and calmed down a bit. Battle seemed to get her excited too much. Perhaps it was in her blood as a member of Kiith Manaan? Or did it have something to do with the aura of the unknown? Yes, that was it. Being one of the first Hiigarans in this system definitely had something to do with it.

A blue dot appeared approximately 800,000 kilometers away from the planet of Minbar in the orbital plane. It elongated into a blue line, then opened again into a blue window, just large enough for a Nalthoran star cruiser to exit. The window remained open for ten seconds to allow the kilometer-point-one vessel to pass through, closing in a similar manner to its opening. The Hiigaran Grand Navy Ship Majestic, aided by the powerful hyperspace fields of her earlier escorts, emerged into the Minbar system.

“Communications, this is CO. Open up a signal on most elecromagnetic bands and try and aim it at the Voidkeeper Station. I want the same message on all EM bands. Message reads as follows, repeat after each transmission to allow their translator software to get used to us.”

This is the Hiigaran vessel HGNS Majestic, dispatched to Minbar System on 24-07-102 AH under orders from HGN High Command to perform scouting actions and become an ambassador ship to the Minbar Federation. Message repeats.

Sir, we have a Hyperspatial disturbance. It appears to be near Minbar just under three light seconds away.”

“Identify that ship”

“Unable to Sir. Unknown configuration.”

“Scan the vessel.”

“Yes Sir, it appears to be 1100 meters in length. The ship class is unknown. The Sensor….Sir, they are transmitting a message.”

“Relay it to me.”

This is the Hiigaran vessel HGNS Majestic, dispatched to Minbar System on 24-07-102 AH under orders from HGN High Command to perform scouting actions and become an ambassador ship to the Minbar Federation. Message repeats.

“Direct one of the ships to keep an eye on them. Update our sensor profiles with the current data on their ships. Check ESUS Records for data on them. I want to know whatever we can about our new arrivals. Are they going to join in or do we get to sell them popcorn? I want to know.”

“Bridge, this is Sensors. We've just been lashed with active sensors, direction one-thirty-five by two-four, they don't match the arrays we've been recognizing as Minbar systems.”

“Damn it! Electros, this is Bridge. ECM and ECCM full power, I want this ship to become a hole in space right the hell now! Cease communications and fire one burst communication directly at Voidkeeper Station and try and lock on to further active lashing using the passive array! I don't want anything seeing us at all until it's necessary.”

“Aye, ma'am, ECM and ECCM at full power. We're running cold.”

Kifung stood up from her seat and waved a hand in front of her. “Engines, this is Bridge. Move at speed on vector three-one-two by two-four, use as few drive rooms as you can. Maneuver into position so we can get a quick firing solution and fire missiles when necessary. Clear baffles once every five minutes.” There's a good reason why Kifung Manaan became one of the first female scout cruiser commanders in the Hiigaran Grand Navy.

“Aye aye, ma'am. Accelerating to 5500 kilometers per second on vector three-one-two by two-four acknowledged, clearing baffles once every five minutes. Running on seven of thirty drive rooms, with ten on standby.”

“Good. Shields, this is Bridge, power down shields to one-five percent of total strength and allow five-zero percent of strength to be activated when necessary.” She punished herself slightly, how the hell did someone find her already? She shook it off mentally and focused on the task at hand.

“Sir, The Majestic just went Silent Running. She fell off conventional sensors.”

“Do the Gravimetric sensors read her?”

“Yes Sir, there is some distortion but the ship still has mass and the distortions it is causing can be traced. She is accelerating and changing heading. We can also pinpoint them on our Dimensional Sensors without any problem. It appears they have no knowledge of Dimensional Technology. They might not even be able to detect our sensor direction.”

“No. it might be detected as from random directions or even from within their own vessel. That is the problem with attempting to get a bearing on sensors from other dimensions, which way is the 5th dimension from there.”

“Orders Sir?”

“Ping them at random intervals to keep them spooked. They might think they are surrounded. Otherwise hold position. We are here to prevent any flanking maneuver from succeeding. Just keep logging all data you get from the ships into the database.”

“Yes Sir.”

OOC:

I don’t know what techs you might have beyond conventional so I had to assume your Gravimetric Technology cannot be very great seeing as how long you would have to research it ICly.
I have a basic knowlege of HW tech. I played HW and HW:Cataclysm. My computer will not support HWII. I even took some ideas and developed them from those games. You might recognize some of them later if I get into actual combat.

If I am wrong please let me know or TG me.

OOC: This is a modified form of Homeworld2 tech combined with technology from the novel “The Shiva Option” by David Weber, apparent very quickly in the use of drive rooms and a drive field.

I'm going to be writing up a shipguide for the ships and weaponry I'll be using in any case, here's the stats on the J5 cruiser. http://aralonia.wordpress.com/bcr-j5-expeditionary-cruiser/ But don't worry, I'll make sure to put up a good show!

And it's going to be interesting to see what you're going to come up with, using these HW1 and HW:C ideas. (Please not F2 K ZZZZZ, or Scout Kamikaze.)
