Kirisubo

four years have passed and its time for the kirisuban local council and council of Daimyo elections.

Empress Fujiko had disolved parliment and hold the reins of power briefly while the votes are counted.

theres two main parties along with smaller political groupings. The Shogunate party which had influenced events since the foundation of the nation and the Kirisuban Liberal party their main rivals in the council of Daimyo's.

The Communist party has picked up support since the Kirisuban Workers Party was disbanded by the government following their attemped coup.

with the surviving KWP in prison police forces expect no trouble from them.

the Green party are also expected to elect more members to the parliment.

with the polls closed and the first results in from the northern provinces it looks like the Liberals are taking an early lead in the parliment but the Shogunate party are holding the cities and the large towns.

The Communists have 2 MP's already and the Green party have yet to register a seat.

so far these are the standings with 25% of the seats declared (20/80 seats) :

SP : 7
KLP : 10
CP : 3
GP : 0

This is Alyssa Sato from KNN reporting from the count in Hiroshima, western Honshu.

With 20 seats up for grabs and this province a traditional seat of power for the Shogunate party its expected that they'll make up some ground tonight.

with all the seats declared here (40/80) these are the standings so far.

SP: 19
KLP: 12
CP: 5
GP: 4

as expected the SP picked up the majority of the seats here as well as the Green party regisitering their first seats but the losers have been the KLP only picking up 2 seats here.

However with another 40 seats up for grabs and no clear majority yet a lot can still happen.

as the count continued all over Kirisubo during the night sitting MP's chewed their finger nails as they waited for results.

the eastern provinces were the next to declare and they voted as follows:

SP:7 (26 seats)
KLP:7 (19 seats)
CP:1 (6 seats)
GP:5 (9 seats)

Back at the Edo news room of KNN the results were relayed to the nation.

the woman tells the nation "so far the Shogunate party has a narrow lead over the Liberal party but the surprise tonight is the green parties performance. With 9 seats and a hung parliment looking likely they could well hold the balance of power.

With only the results from the southern provinces to come this looks like the closest election in years"

the count continued all night and into the next morning.

by lunchtime the following day the last 20 seats were ready to be declared and the result was totally unexpected.

A different female presenter at the election studio displayed the up to bar chart.

"The Green party has finished with 10 seats, a lot better than they expected to do.

The Communist party has 3 seats in total.

The remaining 13 seats will decide who runs the country"

she's passed another piece of paper and then tells her audience "the shogunate party have finished with 32 seats and the Liberal party have finished with 26 seats.

in the closest election in history they will have to elect a shogun once the Empress re-opens parliment in two days time. the KLP and SP are the favourites for the top job but with the spectre of a hung parliment you can expect the Greens and Communists to have a say in procedings as well as future decisions."

the programme comes to an end and the nation is left wondering who will take over the reigns of power for the next 4 years.
