A single Borg cube exited warp above a small planet in the Chiss Ascendency.

"We are the Borg. Lower your shields and power down your weapons. We will add your technological and biological distinctiveness to our own. Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated"

The Borg Cube moved toward a space station hovering above the planet, and lashed out with it's cutting beam at the station, probing the ships, trying to get a feel for the ship's shields.

In the system were five Springhawk class cruisers, each about 1130 meters long. They were armed with Chiss masers, as well as missile launchers and electromagnetic nets. Each had an escort of three heavy starfighters, also armed with masers and missiles. The station itself had a further force of 20 more starfighters. The Borg transmission was not understood by the Chiss present, who began to run it through their translation programs. A response was sent back in Cheunh, the language of the Chiss:

You have entered the territory of the Chiss Ascendancy. Identify yourselves and your purpose here.

As the cube approached, and then fired its cutting beam, the Chiss scrambled their fighters and the cruisers began to move forward in a five pronged pincer movement, aimed at surrounding the Borg. A second message was then sent.

Cease fire immediately or you will be destroyed.

On the planet's surface, huge planetary defense maser arrays powered up and prepared to fire.

The Borg Cube continued firing

"We are the Borg, power down you weapons and lower your shields. You will be assimilated, resistance is futile."

As soon as it had finished, the cube lashed out with it's tractor beams at the fighters, drawing in any that it managed to capture.

As the Borg weapons began to chew away at the shields of the Chiss vessels, they siexed the moment to strike back. The cruisers opened fire from around the cube with masers and missiles. The fighters made strafing runs against weapons and tractor beam emitters on the surface of the cube.

The station itself also opened fire on the Borg, sending the blue flashes of masers and the white trails left by missiles across the blackness of space.



ooc: a maser works the same way as a laser, but instead of coherent light in the visible spectrum, it uses microwaves. I'm really not sure exactly how powerful Chiss weapons are, due to a severe information shortage, but I have been able to learn that a maser has similar effects to a regular turbolaser, but with a greater kinetic force associated. Chiss missiles should be comparable to proton torpedos.

The microwaves hit the shields and passed through. many Drones where disconnected from the unimatrix as their brains liquified from the microwaves.

<Beam over forces to ships through the unshielded portions. Get them off the ship.>

And so, 300 Drones were beamed over to the station, and 15 to every ship larger than a cruiser.
