Earth Starfleet Diplomacy [FT]

Earth Starfleet

As part of a project to establish first contact with as many races as possible, in 2160 Starfleet launched a series of Warp 3 capable probes carrying information on Earth and the human race. Each of the thirty probes constantly emitted a very distinct signal, containing data packets with the location of Earth on a star chart. A bureau was set up to track the probes, and welcome any race who heard the call of the probes.

The Coalition of Planets Xenomorph Diplomacy Bureau

Welcome to the CoP diplomatic group. We thank you for taking the time to respond to the signals sent by our probes, and hope that you will be willing to establish an embassy in the San Francisco embassy quarter. We hope that our co-operation leads to a long and fruitful relationship.

Should you wish to establish an embassy, there are a few guidelines:

No more than 5 combat troops may guard an individual embassy. No military ground vehicles may be used. No military starships may be used for embassy transport.

We hope you understand these precautions.

Frrrkma stood on the apex of the small mountain, quite proud that he had managed to clamber to the very top. His species were not physically powerful as they came from a dimension where gravity was quite weak, and the gravity of this world was quite strong, and yet here he stood, all his limbs intact. His red eye looked around at the view and he absorbed the awesome landscape that surrounded him. Mountains with snowy peaks, dense green forests, lush with organic activity, a deep violet sky and more birds than even his superior intellect could count. It was truly a beautiful sight.

He was distracted from the vista as he heard an unusual sound from above. A roaring, followed by a whistle. He looked around and peered up towards the sky, his sideways eyelids squinting slightly as the red sun shone down on him. A ball of fire streaked across the sky and... and it seemed to be headed straight for him.

Frrrkma reacted quickly. He stepped out of the way, and streaks of green electricity seemed to come from the ground around him as he absorbed the energy of the local Vortessence. He took the energy within his body, and released it from the palms of his hands in a directed burst of green lightning. The streak of light impacted with the ever-nearing fireball, knocking it from its course. The object sped right by the peak Frrrkma stood upon, and slammed down into the forest below. Curious, Frrrkma began to scramble down as quickly as his back-jointed legs and clawed, triangular feet would allow.

He finally reached the bottom half an hour later, and jogged slowly into the forest, headed towards a pillar of smoke that spiralled up into the sky. He eventually came upon a crater in the ground. The centre of the blackened crater housed a small probe, obviously artificial in nature. The probe had writings and symbols upon it which Frrrkma could not understand, but he was fairly competent at electronics and mechanical engineering, so he hopped down into the crater and carefully reached out to the probe with his three-clawed hands.

The probe seemed to be designed to transmit a message on a loop. Without a subspace transceiver he could not tell what the message said right away, but he assumed it was an often-used 'friendship buoy'. Presumably the probe had been caught in the unusually powerful gravity of this world, and drawn down to its eventual demise here in this crater. It seemed to be fairly advanced, with some kind of conventional faster-than-light drive built into its tiny fuselage.

Frrrkma dug his claws into the metal and pulled open a small panel, revealing a series of controls. He did not understand the writings on the buttons or the tiny monitor, but he did understand electronics. He pulled the panel off to reveal the wiring beneath, and began to cross-wire some circuits. Finally he found a way to play the recorded message on the probe's emergency speaker, allowing him to hear its contents.

Fortunately, Frrrkma understood the language of the who-mans, through his telepathic link with the Others. He rose to his feet and contemplated the contents of the message for a time, before bending down once again. He began to fiddle with the circuitry of the probe for a while, discovering how it worked and how to manipulate it. Eventually he managed to encode a simple simulated voice message in place of the previously recorded message, and set the probe to transmit the message back to whoever had sent it. The resulting voice sounded very mechanical, but it was understandable enough for the who-mans to listen to.

I have comprehended the message you have delivered to this one. I am Frrrkma, and this one would like to encounter your people for closer greetings. If this is a desire of yours, please transmit directly to the device you sent to this one, and I shall arrive at your place.

It wasn't especially detailed, but it seemed to get the message through. Frrrkma sat down on the rim of the crater, taking a rest from his busy day exploring this natural world.

When the message arrived, it caused a buzz of activity. Nobody had actually expected to find much life out there with targeted explorers, much less random probes. Once the initial excitement dulled a bit, the first contact teams composed a message and transmitted it as directed by the reprogrammed probe.

This is the Coalition of planets Xenomorph Diplomatic team. We would be very happy to have you visit our world for diplomatic talks. We can dispatch a ship quickly, if transport is a problem.

[Which I highly doubt it will be :D]

Message follows: The Prime minister of the British commanwealth had asked us request that out Xenological teams be allowed to have access to the new race that you have made first contact with. The BEF-01 Belfast is on route back to Earth after a success full test flight to the Alpha Centuri star system and there researchers would be very greatful if they could have a chance to use there skills for the first time. If this is acceptable then please inform us so that we can deploy the team.

on their new homeworld in Federal Union space the Tairo read a transcript of the probes message with interest.

the fact the message came from earth interested her since the Kirisuban Empire was still intact there.

she called in the commander of the exploration fleet and orders went out to send the following reply.

"this is Aiko Fujikawa, the leader of the Kirisuban people. we wish to learn more about yourself and we can send a starship to Earth if need be"

while they waited for a reply the NKS Honshu with Captain Aiko Satsumo was readied and given orders to transport the leader herself to a possible meeting.

The female captain met with her leader and understood what was required. Diplomacy was even more important due to the disaster that had overtaken their people.

the repairs and upgrades which included a federal union cloaking device would be finished soon and then they could leave if needed.

Frrrkma sat silently on the edge of the crater for some time, his big red eye and the smaller surrounding eyes closed as he meditated, contemplating the Vortessence. His body was beginning to grow uncomfortable in this excessive gravity, though he held it perfectly motionless regardless. He was stirred from his musings when the probe began to make a bleeping sound. Opening his eye he glanced down at the damaged craft and saw a light flicking on and off, to signify that a new message had arrived. He rose to his feet and carefully made his way back down to the crater, and fiddled with the probe until the speaker worked once again. It played the new message:

This is the Coalition of planets Xenomorph Diplomatic team. We would be very happy to have you visit our world for diplomatic talks. We can dispatch a ship quickly, if transport is a problem.

Frrrkma looked up once the message had finished. Curious, he reached down again and tapped out another simple message.

This one shall come to you now. No vessels of the stars will be needed to facilitate my impending arrival.

He sent the brief message off to the source once more. This time though, he bent down and placed his clawed hands together in a prayer motion. He began to flux shift, speaking in the peculiar and completely indecipherable language of his people, using his vortal inputs to chant a complicated incantation to allow him to concentrate enough to summon the power of the Vortessence. He began to glow as the green energy welled up inside him, and when it seemed like he could hold no more...

A portal suddenly swelled up where he stood, a brilliant light engulfing his whole body. The portal pulsated and glowed for a few moments, with energy sparking out from within it, until it suddenly shrank and disappeared. Frrrkma was nowhere to be seen.

After a brief stop in Xen, Frrrkma completed the transportation and arrived at the source of the transmission. He swayed slightly as his body adjusted to the new gravity, and looked around at his surroundings. He had no idea where he was, but he presumed he was in the domain of the people who had communicated with him.

Just on the edge of their territory, one of the probes was observed by the reconnaissance ship Cyclopes. Additional inquiry produced the original message which was forwarded back to command. From there, it made it's way straight to the Dominion's leader.

***In the office of Ralpmet, leader of the Dominion***

Ralpmet looked around the great table, taking in the people who sat there. "Well gentlemen, what do you think?"

The first to speak was Foriegn Minister Carl Zimmser. "Sir, I believe we should make contact with these people. We have nothing to lose and much that we could possibly gain."

"I quite agree with Minister Zimmser. With successful negotiations we could open up trading channels. That could possibly save our plummeting economy." That was the Minister of Trade.

The Defense Minister turned in his chair. "And I they aren't friendly, Mefis? Do you think we could deal with that on top of the problems we already have?" He looked over at The greying man in uniform, "What do you think, Admiral Byrnison?"

Admiral Iorek Byrnison, Commander of the Arcadeosi First Fleet, steepled his fingers, and sighed. "With the Rhithin becoming bolder every day, it is only a matter of time before they try to directly attack us. If a second force were to oppose us, I do not believe we could avoid annihaltion."

"I think I can convince them not to take up arms against us." said Martin Diplomicus, Head Diplomat. Just then, there was a knock on the door and a liveried guard poked his head in.

"I thought I said that we were not to be disturbed." growled Ralpmet.

"Yessir, but I have an urgent message for the Admiral."

"Let me see it." said Iorek as he heaved himself out of his chair. He took the message from the guard and reading it, he slowly turned back to the table. Looking up, he began "Sir, the Rhithin have engaged our forces at one of our space staions just outside the Pana system."

Ralpmet stood, "Admiral, take the your fleet and aid our forces there. Carl, I want you and Martin to do something about this other matter. Just don't worsen our situation. You're all dismissed." He slumped down in his chair again as everyone left, staring off into space.

San Francisco, Office of the Xenomorph Diplomacy Bureau

As the odd portal began to open in Commodore Wellington's office, he had some early misgivings.

"Holy sweet Jesus Mary and Joseph! Security!"

Two officers of Earth Starfleet Security ran into the room, phase pistols at the ready. As the alien lifeform emerged, something clicked.

"Lower your weapons, men. Jesus..." After a brief pause and a short check to ensure his chair was still dry, Wellington spoke again. "Welcome to the Starfleet Command building, San Francisco. I'm going to assume you're the being who told us transport wouldn't be a problem? I'm Commodore Wellington, head of the Diplomatic department."

Elsewhere in the Building

Messages had been arriving faster than the Department had expected. Current theories stated that space was a lot emptier than this, and the flood of responses had given everyone quite a shock. Responses were sent soon after messages were recieved.

We would be honoured to offer your diplomat a ride in our diplomatic ship. He would recieve full diplomatic honours and would be given a full tour of our fastest ship. If you accept our offer, simply tell us how many people will be in his entourage so we can be ready. Guards are unnecessary, but can be accomodated.

We would very much like to learn about your people. Please send a starship to Earth clearly marked as diplomatic.

Send a team to San Francisco, and we will see what we can do. Of course, it would be incredibly rude just to let your scientists come in and start poking a diplomat.

the Honshu left its docking port with an addition to its normal paintwork.

as well as the ships name in english and its number there was painted a normal sized New Kirisuban flag.

the red sun on the black field stood out against the gun metal colour of the exploration ship and Samurai-Captain Aiko Satsuma was under strict orders to be on her best behaviour.

some people in the government had even called for the recall of the Kagemon for this diplomatic mission but time was off the essence.

As the sleek ship with the all female crew left Federal Union space they sped up to warp 8 for the journey that would take 10 days at their cruising speed.

ooc: this is what the ship looks like minus the big bird

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/nihongaz/cricketclass.jpg

they have warp drive based on the matter-antimatter system and are agile craft rather than being heavily armed since they are exploration ships.

the crew is 60 women all asian humans and Captain Satsuma is known as a maverick. she's like a female version of James Kirk in many ways only she dosen't like men very much :)

I would be honored to see your ship. I will be accompanied by two guards. However, my government would like to send a small transport as well. Once the destination is reached it would remain in orbit and we are willing to have members of your military on board to monitor the crew and cargo. It's nothing personal, mind you, we're just not a very trusting people and it takes a lot to gain that trust.
