The Official decree of the Sovereign World Of Religious Domains [SWORD]

Hereby in this, the great holy declaration of the laws passed henceforth by all followers of the gods, or God, comes the great decree of the Sovereign World of Religious Domains. Domains, whom wishing a better world for the human soul, strive to make a greater World through compassion, through strength and fairness. For acceptance into the SWORD, such requirements and acts of conduct are required:

[Religious View]

• All members of the alliance are to tolerate the religious aspect and cultural aspect of other members
• Under no circumstances are members of other religions within the league allowed to criticise other religions within the league
• Members are to maintain a certain level of respect to other religions outside the members of the SWORD
• Atheism is to be tolerated
• Missionaries from fellow members of the SWORD are to be accepted into the nation, and allowed to convert on the choice of the citizen, not the choice of the governing entity

[Interaction]

• Conversions are to be made through choice, not force
• Each member is required to have a reasonable structure constructed in a safe area for SWORD member meetings
• Only 1 chair will be allotted to each member, a representative given that chair
• Each issue will be presented in an orderly and civilized manner
• Disputes must be settled in an orderly and civilized manner
• Issues will be voted on by each member of the court
• Members stating neither against nor for reasons of a certain issue must have a reasonable explanation on their view and why it would be a good representation of their nation’s view
• If given a good reason, a representative may choose to eject himself from an issue therefore not having to take part
• Should a tie be in effect, then both sides must find a mediating point
• If no mediating point is found, then the issue is deemed void, unless situation is dire

[Military]

• Members of the SWORD are able to use their military as they see fit, save against religious wars of fellow members
• A tribute calculated by a cent-per-head tax is to be paid yearly for the maintenance of a common military including airforce, navy and ground force
• Members must donate a small amount of forces to be in said military force – tributes are for maintenance of such a force
• The military in peacetime will be commanded by a General chosen from each of the members
• In times of crisis, the SWORD military will be commanded by the Generals of the nation that requires the most of its help
• Once reverting to peacetime, the SWORD military will revert back to common control
• The SWORD military will be docked in docks or military bases relative to their originating country (eg, Jenrak’s military donation will stay in Jenrak in peacetimes)
• For any reasons, a country may recall its military if a reasonable explanation is given (faulty equipment, new training exercises, etc.)
• The SWORD military is only useable in defence – no member may use it to further his or her conquests

[Punishment]

• Dishonouring the rules will result in trade embargoes or suspension of country’s representative from the council for a maximum of one month
• A second offence will result in a six month suspension
• A third offence will result in a trial which consequences can range from a minimum of a one year suspension to ejection from the SWORD itself
• A forced conversion of people(s) results in a one month suspension of the country’s representative from the league
• Intolerance of a fellow member’s religion results in a six month suspension from the league
• Waging a religious war or skirmish results in a minimum of six month suspension and one year suspension from using the SWORD military, as well as forced double head tax.
• Failure to comply to any of these punishments will result in expulsion from the group by voting of the council, or temporary occupation of fellow members

I would like to know, is this an MT only organization? I'm one of those rare FT players "suffering" under the delusion that religion isn't going to wholly disappear in the next thousand years because of the thunderings of the disillusioned. Even if it is MT, I applaud the effort. It is high time that a theistic and tolerant alliance such as this was created; not that religion-specific alliances have been a problem. The more zealous, larger atheistic states seem to take particular glee in annihalating them...

This is MT.

Yes, they are required to donate a certain number of forces and a tribute to assist in the common interests of the league, but as earlier I have stated the first point allows any military source to recall their military if given a reason. This could also be allowed in times of split opinion - however, remember that the common SWORD military will not be an offensive force, it will purely defensive. So it is purely used to defend a member from an enemy invasion. It will not be used in conquering.

Each nation is required to send a military tribute and a yearly cash tribute so that it is equal to all members. It wouldn't be fair if only some members donated and others did not.

1: What happens when a nation's pay per soldier is higher than that of the SWORD JTF?
2: What happens when a nation is devoid of an organised military?

1: We suggest volunteers in this tribute who are willing to fight at the lower wages. To be fair, we cannot raise the tribute simply because the soldier wishes a higher raise. While the pay is still aimed to be a good-leveled, decent wage, if the soldier truly is fighting for the protection of the beliefs of others and himself, then wages are secondary to the great deeds he could be tasked to do.

2: This would be understandable if a nation has no organised military body. When no military body is present, a tribute of workers or people (for assistance in technical maintenance of the military, assistance in overall organization of the SWORD, etc.) is appreciated. If, for some reason, such a nation cannot expend any forces or civilians, then a tribute will do fine. Another nation may for as long as it wishes to "vouch" for a nation, meaning it can pay for another nation's share of its tribute if such a nation truly cannot pay the tribute.
