Zukariaan Civil War

Attention! This is closed to those who have joined so far and people I have invited.

Zukariaa was free of the Kraven War Machine, yes. The Empire had been reestablished, but many people no longer wanted such a government. The people still had few rights in their daily lives and in the political world. However, there were the people who supported the Empire's reestablishment.

Zukariaa was seperated, those who wanted Democracy and those who wanted the Empire to live on. Amazingly, the Democrats were becoming violent. Huge riots were taking place throughout the cities. They were so violent that soldiers would often fire on the crowds. It was getting out of hand. The Democrats claimed that the only way to end the Imperial ways that Zukariaa had always had was to destroy the government, to fight.

At the same time, the Imperials were going to deal with them quickly. They would show them no mercy, they would keep the Empire living on. Within several months, the country was already split in two. The Imperials readied for war while the Democrats began to conscript people in their army. They were determined to make the first attack and destroy the Empire quickly.

It wouldn't work that way, however. Two weeks after the Rebels began to build their army, the Loyalists launched their offensive. Hundreds of troop carriers flew across sea from the French coast, dropping hundreds of paratroopers on Sardinia and Corse. The Rebels had amassed a small defense their of 2500 conscripted troops.

This is where the war begins. The Imperials have begun their march on the Rebels. The Rebels must now build up their army quickly, as the superior numbers and technology move to destroy them. Who will win? The Rebels have called for foreign aid, while the Loyalists have claimed that they do not need it, but will welcome it.

Dark Red is Imperial, Dark Blue is Rebel. Light Blue is outside of Zukariaa. Dark Grey is Whyatica, who probably wont be part of this. (unless he chooses to) The golden color in the Soviet Union, they wont be part of this. That was just part of another RP.

Jarmand has decided to side with the Rebels. it will take some time to mobilize our forces. We wish to inform the rebels that they will need to "hold the line", at least until air support arrives.
Leocardia
30-06-2006, 06:01
Leocardia offers Zukariaa 600,000 International Riot Police, an $150 billion valued gift to keep the crowd of Democrats from growing violently and causing stirs in the country's boundaries. However, all units are against the Democrats, for Leocardia is Communist state. The International Riot Police is fully equipped for situations such as these demostrations, which were shown in performance in the last Leocardian Civil-Control War. Their equipment include a powerful Type 81 Teargas/Bullet Rifle, a Five-Seven 5.56 Caliber Pistol, 3 purple-smoke signal grenades, a HE grenade, optional electric/regular baton, and a riot shield. The powerful, elite-trained 600,000 men are offered to Zukariaa. When offer is accepted, then the men will begin their aid for the empire.

OOC- I have no problem with it.

I want to make it clear that there will be NO landgrabs, nukes, or people jumping in half way through the war. I also retain the right not to let people in on this.

I don't want 10 nations on the rebel side, and 2 on the Empire side, either. If there are too many on either side I wont let anymore people in.

If you can't decently RP, go away. :)

As for the 600,000 Riot Police, can you take that down a bit? It's a bit much. You are welcome to come in with maybe half that.

The Rebel de facto Government recieved news of aid coming to them, and gladly accepted. They were in no real position not to, as their badly trained conscripts were shipped out to the frontlines.

The huge amount of aid coming from Leocardia was very unexpected to the High Commander, but he accepted it none the less. He wanted to quickly crush the Rebels and move on.

The invasion of Sardinia and Corse was going well for the Loyalists. 2,000 men had paradropped onto the islands, and were literally slaughtering the Rebel conscripts, who had poor training and equipment. Within a day, Sardinia had been captured. Taking nearly 500 POWs, the Empire began to push it's full force into Corse, where the Rebels were reinforcing with hundreds of more soldiers. They would have to hold the line, but with Sardinia in the Loyalist's hands, they could easily invade Rebel Italy..

Our nation was born in the fires of rebellion, and we are willing to support anyone who wishes to follow in our footsteps. The Oklahoma Carrier Battle Group is in the Mediterranean, and will begin flying air support missions today. Marine Expeditionary Forces will meet up with Maritime Pre-Positioning ships in Puerto Rico within a week and will be en route soon after. In addition, Army paratroop forces can be dispacted in less than three days to secure a landing zone for regular Army troops. All our reserves and regular troops were already mobilized when your call for help came - we were preparing for an invasion of the mainland US (the nation we seceded from), if you must know. I will also contact my comrades in the Haven Federation to see if anyone is willing to assist us.

===Open Transmission to Zukariaan Government===
Your reign of terror will soon end. Free Tulsan troops are en route now.

(OOC: The Oklahoma Carrier Battle Group consists of aircraft carrier Oklahoma, which has 130 combat aircraft as well as support aircraft, along with the cruisers Opothleyahola, Honey Creek, and Sequoyah, the frigates Sabre and Guthrie, and the destroyers Sam Clemens and Steamrunner. The three Marine Expeditionary Forces are 3000 men each, armed with diverse weaponry and light armor support. The paratroops will consist of two battalions whose task will be to secure a landing field to allow transport aircraft to bring in heavy equipment. As for the rest of my troops, that all depends on how good Zukariaan anti-aircraft coverage is.)

Her Excellency, Regent Taunja Lockeheart of the Regency of Romandeos has instructed the Royal Armed Forces to begin preparing to support the Rebels.

For the time being, Romandeos offers the Rebels financial support, and maybe limited weapons shipments and advisors, should they be desired.

OOC: Pity about the land-grabbing ban. I was hoping to come away with at least Ireland. Oh well, you can't always have it all. My objective with the advisors is simple. I am preparing to fight a serious conflict with a nation called Otagia in a little while, and my nation has no experienced soldiers in its military. My nation wants to get some troops blooded without being drawn into a long-term slug-fest.

OOC-800,000 men? Um, no. Free Tulsa, I guess you can join. I'd rather wait for more people to help the Empire, since there are now 3 Rebel supporters. Our anti-air defenses? Huge and powerful. There are anti-air emplacements all across the land. Everywhere. We were (and will be again) part of the Kraven War Machine. We have huge defences that the Empire and Rebels will be using.

Most of the Rebel Army in Italy was now equipped with better rifles. With the coming invasion from the Loyalist forces, the beach defences began to be manned. Several thousand men were filling into huge trench networks and manning machine gun emplacements in beachside bunkers. The only thing stopping the Empire from invading Italy was the Rebel hold on Corse. First, an invasion would have to be set there.

The Rebels now had 15,000 men on Corse, waiting for the coming attack, which would come soon...

OOC: I know full well this fight will be long, drawn-out and Hellish, but my nation's government doesn't know that at the moment. Her Excellency's Government has decided that, at least at the moment, there is no need to make a massive military commitment.

We shall, however, be willing to send Lieutenant-General Terrence Stafford in to Zukariaa commanding some 1,000 advisors and training specialists.

In addition, we must ask, would the Rebel forces care to be sent some assault rifles? Romandeos uses a rifle known as the Stg. 8, which comes in both 5.56 and 7.62mm variants.

A flight of F/C-32 Thunderbird close support fighters from the Oklahoma overflew the rebel positions on Corsica at low altitude, waggling their wings (OOC: a maneuver involving rocking the plane left and right slightly) at the men below, who cheered. Overhead, an SC-4 Great Spirit AWACS aircraft circled, providing coordination for the two dozen aircraft currently on Combat Air Patrol (CAP) duty. The remainder of the carrier's aircraft were on Five-Minute Notice - weapons attached, planes fueled, catapults ready, and pilots next to the planes at all times. The Oklahoma was a hive filled with angry bees, just waiting for someone to disturb them. Meanwhile, the carrier's small detachment of 200 Marines were going ashore to deliver munitions, food, and toiletries to the rebel position from the carrier's more than ample stores, as well as escort Rear Admiral Parkinson, who wished to confer with the rebel leader in the area in order to get an idea of the state of the conflict.

The government of Jarmand implores the rebels to make airbases ready in italy, so our air force may make use of the runways. Although we have no stealth aircraft, our B-52s should be able to at least lend some support to the troops on Corsica. Meanwhile, ships are en route to italy with 5,000 troops. they are escorted by several destoyers and subs, along with a battleship and two missile cruisers.

OOC: forgot anything i said about other troops. we have 5,000 now and more will come.

OOC-Well, I wouldn't say that they cheered. To say they did is kind of Godmodding. :p

The Rebels were literally raiding the supplies that the Tulsans brought ashore. Most of them had no reason to be in the war, and had been forces through conscription. Morale was low, and supplies were slim for the conscripted army. They mainly went for the food, which they got little of.

The admiral would be shown to Rebel Lieutenant Vasili Kosolov, a Ukranian man who had been conscripted for officer position. He would tell the Tulsan Admiral all he needed to know.

Two Zukariaan bombers flew at a low altitude towards the Rebel lines in Italy. Their load was not normal; they were dropping several tons of propaganda posters. As they passed over the lines, they opened up for several seconds, dropping thousands of papers that would land into the lines or be blown across several miles of Rebel land. The paper they were dropping read as:

Brave Men of the Rebel Armies
Why do you fight against the Empire? What reason do you have for going against the High Commander? If it were not for him, there would be no Zukariaa. You would have no purpose. You must know that the your leaders have forced you to fight for a cause you do not believe in. Why do you fight? Because they want you to? They do not care about you. They only wish to see their goals accomplished, and are forcing you to fight your fellow countrymen! They went against the legitimate government violently, rioting and looting and burning towns. They did not attempt a diplomatic approach, simply dismissing it, thinking it would be useless. They should not have been so foolish. Now, they force good men like yourselves to fight for their cause. Know that their is no shame in surrendering! We will gladly accept you, make sure that you recieve proper food and are not forced to fight to the death! The real Zukariaans will not violently kill other Zukariaans for no reason, as these rebels have. A real Zukariaan would never go against a fellow Zukariaan.
If you attempt to fight the Empire, you will fail. You are badly equipped, tired, have no reason for fighting, to name several reasons. Our men are fully trained and combat experienced. Under the command of our superior officers, they fight well, with true tactic. They know what you do not when it comes to fighting in war. Many of you have never even held a gun, many of you are not fit for fighting. Under these democrats, Zukariaa will become nothing more than a copy of our neighboring Soviet Union. Would you like being fired on for retreating? That is what they will do! If they do not succeed, you will not succeed. They will harm you, maybe kill you, for not going to you death against our armies. You have the chance, so take it. Stand down and surrender to us!

The High Command, Under The Supreme High Commander Henry Corrol

With much of their load dropped, the two bombers moved on. They were ready to drop more elsewhere.

OOC-Everyone helping the rebels, know that their would be much difficulty in helping them by the sea. The way into the Medditaranian is controlled by the Empire, and it would be quite difficult to go through unnoticed.

Parkinson was shown into Kosolov's office. Pleasantries were exchanged for a few minutes, and then they got down to business. "First of all," said Parkinson, "give me an overview of the situation - size and location of your forces and theirs, your supply situation, anything you think is relevant."
Kosolov though for a moment, then began, in a noticably Russian accent,"Well, we have conscripted nearly 345,000 men, basically given them basic supplies and a rifle, and moved them on. We are constantly bringing in more, and distibuting them around as best we can. I really don't know how large their forces are. In numbers, they most definitely dwarf us. We estimate at several million, but we have no way of knowing for sure. Supplies, well, we hardly have enough to give to the men. We have rifles given to the men, small rations, nothing much else. Many of them do not even have helmets. The Empire control all of the money, we are nearly bankrupt."

He stopped for a moment, then continued,"We have few tanks or planes, we have many anti-air emplacements that the Empire had here originally. We have artillery that we took from the Empire when this war bagan."

"The subject of where our forces are is easy enough: Along the borders. Almost all of them are protecting our borders, trying to keep watch for a full scale invasion. We have 25,000 of them here in Italy, where we suspect the main invasion will begin."

"As you may know, we don't have many good leaders. Officers like myself, with no experience, were conscripted like the rest of them and expected to lead large amounts of men. Our tactics are likely to be flawed, and we might not distribute our men properly. It is quite sad.." he looked down, just as several papers flew through an open window. It was the Empire's propaganda..

Parkinson caught one of the sheets of paper, read it, folded it up, and stuck it in his pocket. "Looks like those anti-air installations aren't doing you much good," he said dryly. "We can fly limited air support for your lines, but bear in mind that we have only one carrier in the Med at the present time and we do not know when we will be able to get more. We will provide what supplies we can from our armories and stores, but being a naval vessel we have only limited ground weaponry aboard. High Command informs me that two battalions of paratroops originally slated to begin the invasion of California are in the air and en route. They will be here inside of twelve hours. They are well trained, but few in number and armed only with light weapons. Originally, their mission would be to secure a landing area for follow-up troops, but in this situation they will be positioned in the rear to plug any holes that might appear in your lines. This is only about 1600 men - don't expect them to halt the advance, but they might buy us some time. Regular Army forces will begin flying in in about a month, and Marine Expeditionary Units will begin sailing in slightly under a week, to arrive less than two weeks from now. If we can hold out that long, our chances for victory improve significantly. Before I return, I have one question: what, if any, naval forces do you have?"
[NS]Zukariaa
30-06-2006, 08:28
Kosolov replied, unsure,"I believe we have a battleship and two carriers down in Greece, but I do not have much information. The battleship is on it's way to protect the coast, the carriers.. I don't know. If we hold off the invasion, we can use them to make a counter-invasion. I suggest we wait and see if they do attack.. maybe these posters they're dropping on us are true.. Maybe we should try and be diplomatic about these things.."

"Diplomacy," Parkinson spat, somehow making the word sound profane. "Diplomacy is what allowed the United States to force my parents onto some godforsaken Pacific islands. Diplomacy towards rebels is subversion. They are trying to lull you into a false sense of security, to soften you up before the hammer falls. The problem is, it will probably work. Duran!" he shouts. One of his Marine bodyguards rushes in. "Yes, sir?" "Organize your men to dispose of as much of this garbage" - he waved a piece of paper - "as you can find. Send frequent updates on your progress." As the Marine hurried away, Parkinson turned to face the Lieutenant. "I can guarantee they will attack. As far as they are concerned, this is their land, and you are the bad guys. Trying to reason them will only make it easier for them to crush you. Never forget that."

A private freighter chugged along in the water, bobbing and creaking. It was a rusty old ship, probably not owned by the government. The engine seemed about ready to cut out. The passengers thought so too, considering there were sails on board. The passengers were a poor bunch, wearing soiled clothing and some had beards past their necks. These were looters, they had left the country in hopes of getting rich of the misfortunes of other nations. They came poorly guarded, maybe a dull knife among some of them. They talked little, sparing their energy. They lived in the worst of conditions, sleeping on soiled beds and eating stale food. They burned all the trash they produced for warmth, something that used to be so rare to them. THere was notihng for them in Kubra once welfare was taken off, until it came back they needed to somehow make a living. The owner of the ship told them he would take them to Zukaaria, a place that was now in a state of war. They were told that they could maqke a fortune out of looting the destroyed buildings and homes, as long as the boat owner got 60% of the profit. In a way, he was just scamming them.

"I guess you're right.. but they are right. We are fighting for something we didn't choose to fight for, and in land that isn't really ours.." he said sadly,"I am not a leader, and they expect me to.. kill those who retreat..."

The Rebels were slowly becoming like the close Soviet Union. The soldiers were tired and miserable, and the Empire had nearly 26 million soldiers under it's control. A true invasion would be easily done. However, the Rebels would only have 2 million by the end of the month. The Empire had brought up 2 million men for the current fight, most of which still weren't doing anything. All the while, their military was building up quickly.

The Kubran vessel would find that on the docks, they would immediatly be detained by soldiers, or, should they land on a beach, recieve machine gun fire. There was little chance of them getting through to looting, especially since the real fighting had not started yet.

The assault on Corse began. 15,000 fully trained Zukariaan Imperial soldiers would be paradropping and landing from transport ships. They would be met with nothing to take cover behind, and sporadic machine gun fire from the scared and tired conscripts in the beachside bunkers. They would have to rush across an entire beach to a cliffside, which they would have to get up to clear the enemy bunkers. Luckily, the conscripts were scared and had small amounts of ammunition. Besides that, they were being hit with tons of propaganda on top of their low morale. If they retreated, they would be killed. It was going to be a bloody opening to the war. (More On This Later)

OOC-Of cramer corp, did you even read the first post? I didn't invite you in. Besides that, you need to learn to RP first. ;)
Nah, I don't mind. The Rebels originally wanted to be Democratic, but they're starting to change..

The Rebel Leader, who's name is disclosed, would like to meet with the Romandeos general. He is currently in Kyyiv(Kiev), the Capital of the rebellion.

Reichfeldwebel Kaufmann felt like he was going to puke. The sea was getting to him, but he kept himself composed. He was at the front of the transport ship. Behind him, 14 other men spoke to each other, trying not to worry about the bombs going off trying to hit them and the other ships. The boat suddenly lurched and stopped. It had hit the beach. The front fell open, and the 15 men rushed out. All over the beach, men were running up the beach. In the sky, Reichfallschirmjägers fell from the sky. They were half way up the beach, nearly to the cliff, when machine guns and anti-air guns rang out. They ripped across the sky and into the beaches. Men began to fall, men in parachutes died before ever touching the ground.

But they kept moving. The men in the bunkers held back tears as men fell in pain before them. Many of them had never killed before, and they never thought of killing their own countrymen. But if they didn't, they would die. And if they did, they would likely die.

On the beaches, the men began to reach the cliffs, at the tops were Rebel men firing down on them. They fired back, and then began to climb up. Those who were able to avoid gunfire all the way up reached the top, where there was little cover beyond boulders sticking out of the ground. Beyond those were machineguns behind the cover of sandbags. Beyond those were trenches. Those men who got through those trenches would be able to get into the bunkers and kill the machinegunners, to allow the rest of the invasion to begin.

Luckily, as Kaufmann hid behind a boulder, as a lone conscript fired on his position, he hear gun shots. Some Reichfallschirmjägers had come in from behind, and now the the way was clear into the trenches. Moving through, many more men fell, but they kept coming, killing those in their way. A grenade flew into a bunker, killing a machinegunner..

The battle was far from over. There were two other bunkers in the area, and beyond the bunkers was a huge network of trenches. Beyond those were small towns that would have to be captured.

Lieutenant-General Terrence Stafford, Romandeosian Royal Army, boarded the transport in the early morning hours to begin his journey to meet with the Rebel’s general who was located in the Rebellion’s capital, Kiev. The sky was dark and clouded when he left and a light drizzle was coming down from the overcast. He was accompanied by a rifle platoon.

He was also accompanied by Special Envoy Mitchell Baumkirch.

Lieutenant Richard Heugel, the rifle platoon’s CO, was somewhat nervous, as his platoon lacked the heavy weapons squad it would normally have, and was going into a warzone, a little bit unnerving to say the least. They had some heavy weapons but no organized force in place to wield them should they find themselves in a fight.

It would take just one day to get to Kiev. On they day they departed a message was sent out informing the Imperials that a neutral diplomatic mission was being sent to Kiev to hold a little diplomatic conference with a Rebel official.

From: Her Excellency Regent Taunja Lockeheart of Romandeos.

For: Imperial Government of Zukariaa.

Be advised that we are dispatching a diplomatic mission to Kiev to speak with the Rebels.

Romandeos is, as yet, a neutral third party to this conflict, and as such we warn you not to harm this mission and its members in any fashion. Failure to heed this warning may result in harsh reprisals from the Romandeosian Royal Armed Forces.

OOC: Zukariaa, could you tell me in a nutshell what sort of place Kiev is right now?

Meanwhile, I must try to find a picture to give you some idea what Stafford looks like.

In the wake of the Kraven occupation, Kiev is like every other town in Zukariaa. Blocks and blocks of plain, grey apartment buildings and factories. Most of Zukariaa has not been able to change much of it's cities since Kraven left.

It was a No-Man's-Land. The bunkers had been taken care of, and they had captured some trenches, but across a field were the enemy. They had several emplaced machine guns ready to fire. There orders were to rush across, full force, and overwhelm the conscripts. 200 men suddenly jumped out, running, and began to be shot down. Man after man died as the machine guns fired, but there were always more men. The conscripts began to stop firing, likely scared. "But.. to just leave.. it doesn't seem right, either. I also don't want myself or my men to die.. I will come with you. I really see no other option." he said, he began to stand, before he stopped. In the doorway was General Fleischer.

"Si-Sir!" Kosolov was stunned, he saluted.
The General stared directly into his eyes before saying,"It's too bad that you wish to betray our rule. We may be a bit unorthadox, but if we are not we shall surely fail."
"I-I am sorry, sir!" the fear was definitely showing in his eyes. He knew what would happen. The General had a pistol in his hands, he was fingering it. Behind him were two Conscripts, each with old bolt-action rifles.
"No, you are not sorry." He lifted the pistol, aiming it at Kosolov,"Parkinson, is it? You should leave. I don't want you to get any blood on your nice little uniform. This scum is ordered for execution, as are several other incompetents nearby."
It seemed that the Rebels had gone from Democratic loving people, to violent Soviet-like rulers.

The capturing of the beaches of Corse was a success. Several towns were also captured, and now, rebels were surrendering in large numbers. Much of the time, one would be executed to keep them from going through, but many times they would succeed.
Private Alfred Meier sat, freezing, in the third floor of one of the Kraven apartment buildings. Artillery had blown a huge hole in it, and they had set up a machine gun. He was the machine gunner. He knew that when the imperials came, he would be a target for snipers. There was one place that the imperials could come in through to the town, and he had the perfect spot to mow them down. If they survived an assault, it would prove that the conscripted forces were not entirely useless, as they had proven to be so far. Down in the street, Meier could hear a scout whispering,"Counter-attack! Here they come! Take up positions!"
They hadn't expected such a large force. Imperials began rushing into the town, and Meier opened fire. Dozens of them fell before the bullets stopped.
"I'm out! Get me some more ammo! Hurry up!" he yelled, one of the men ran off and came back with another thing of bullets, by this time, the Imperials had moved through the city. They were taking down conscripts in each building. Room by room. The machine gun was useless. He grabbed his rifle and ran down out through the hall. An imperial machine gun ripped across the hall, amazingly missing him. He lifted and fired, killing the man.
"Come on! Push them back!!" he screamed, he fired again, taking another down. He moved down the hall to the stairwell. Two others had come to his aid, and they fired down at imperials from the stairs. Eventually, they made it to the entrance of the building. The 45th Conscripted had driven them away. They had won for the first time in the war..

Out of habit, Pakinson reached for the place his sidearm would have been, had he not been a flag officer, and swore under his breath when he realized it wasn't there. He lifted his radio instead, and started firing off orders in rapid-fire Cherokee, which he knew the Zukariaans wouldn't understand. He was risking his life in not leaving the room, but he didn't care. If he didn't get the word out, some of his pilots would die assisting a government every bit as bad as that which they were trying to replace. He first selected the channel dedicated to carrier operations. "Cease all air support flights. Recall all aircraft except CAP aircraft. All rebels are to be treated as hostiles unless I say otherwise." He spoke so rapidly that even his communications officer, who was a full-blood Cherokee, had a little bit of trouble understanding. However, the word got out. Less than fifteen seconds had passed, and Parkinson was recieving looks that told him that the thin ice he had been treading was starting to show some definite cracks. He switched to Captain Duran's channel. "Captain, get me the hell out of here." Parkinson turned off the radio, not wanting to cause even more trouble - as if that were possible. There is very little that angers a general officer more than not being able to understand possibly vital intelligence. Parkinson flashed his most insolent smile, nonchalantly walked over to Kosolov, and punched him in the face. This surprised everyone enough to cause them to do a double-take. It was a long enough pause for Parkinson to grab the fallen Lieutenant's sidearm, bring it around, and fire.........

As Parkinson spoke into his radio, Fleischer knew that something was about to happen. He spoke to the two conscripts in German, telling them to get the men on ready.
"This guy is trying something, one of you stay here and be ready to fire on him if he does anything." he said. One ran off, while the other one readied his rifle. Suddenly, Parkison had punched Kosolov in the face and taken his pistol, and fired. The shot hit Fleischer right in the arm, causing him to drop his pistol and fall backwards. The conscript fired at Parkinson, while two others were running up the hall to the room. One of them had a bolt-action, and the other had a sub machine gun.

Nobody would have known it who did not know the man very well, but Terrence Stafford liked fine architecture. He was not a professional architect by any means, but, he wasn’t a layman either, and cities like Kiev almost gave him headaches.

“Blast it, what a dull, gray place,” he complained as he set foot on the runway, waiting an instant as a full rifle squad formed a secured area around the place where he was standing in the open. He was just happy to leave his seat aboard the plane. Stafford was a large man, and did not like aircraft.

“Keep in mind, General, this place is in a civil war,” said Mitchell Baumkirch as he came into view from inside the aircraft walking to stand next to Stafford. He was closely trailed by Lieutenant Heugel, who was the only one in the trio armed with more than a pistol, his 7.62mm Stg. 8 assault rifle clutched loosely in his gloved hands.

“Maybe so, but Kiev was around long before that,” Stafford replied.

“Point,” Baumkirch said. “What now?”

“We wait, I suppose,” Stafford replied. "They did not say we were to go anyplace specific once we had landed."
[NS]Zukariaa
02-07-2006, 21:59
When they landed, they would see two conscripts. They were standing at the entrance to the runway, there were sandbags neaby a mounted machine gun. They waved the men over.
"If you will just follow me." one said, walking towards one of the buildings near the runway. In truth, it was just one of the apartment buildings. Inside, there was a table where a general was sitting,"He'll talk to you."

The room's floor was wooden. It looked old. On the walls were huge bloodred banners showing the Twin Hammers of Kraven. They hadn't pulled them down, but the banners were noticably ripped apart in several places.
"Yes. You wanted to see a leader, you get to. What do you need?" asked the General.

Stafford, followed closely by Baumkirch and the rifle squad-Heugel would stay behind to keep the aircraft secured with his remaining men-walked to the building.

“Not a very impressive office,” Stafford whispered as they walked.

“Indeed,” Baumkirch replied, also whispering.

Reaching the building, nine men from the rifle squad remained outside to guard the entry, leaving the corporal who commanded it to walk inside with Baumkirch and Stafford.

"Yes. You wanted to see a leader, you get to. What do you need?" asked the General.

“We need some information, General,” Stafford said. “We are here to gauge the situation, make sure we know who, if anybody, we should support. To do that, we need information."

“In a nutshell, Sir,” Baumkirch cut in. “We are here to determine if you are worth supporting in the first place, and, if so, to what extent.”

Both men, and the single bodyguard in the room with them, were silent as they awaited a response.

“I ask,” Stafford said, cutting off Baumkirch, who was about to answer “because one man might define democracy differently than the next man.”

Baumkirch cut in at that.

“General, I believe what General Stafford means is that the Regent is concerned about the idea that perhaps the Rebellion, upon succeeding, might install a new national government in the Imperial Government’s place that is no improvement, and perhaps even worse, thus leaving the Zukariaan people just as bad off as before. We want to know what sort of men lead the Rebellion, and exactly what you plan to do upon success.

The shot hit Parkinson in his left shoulder. He barely maintained his grip on the pistol, but his aim was thrown off and his next shot missed high and to the left, sailing into the corridor beyond. He switched to a two-handed grip and fired a second time just as the conscript finished working the bolt for another shot.

Captain Duran was extremely worried. He needed orders a bit more specific than 'get me the hell out of here' to properly plan a mission. There were two dozen Marines with him, armed with R7A1 7.62mm assault rifles. Due to the fact that Duran and his Marines existed mainly as security guards and spent most of their time looking menacing and controlling their bladders, they hadn't recieved the new, fancy Valhalla rifles the frontline troops were equipped with. The rifles they were using were practically antiques, although admittedly antiques that were just as effective now as they had been fifteen years ago. Duran was pretty sure he was about to find out just how effective that really was, and the sounds of gunfire from the squat concrete structure that served as the rebel headquarters in this region confirmed this. His men switched off their safeties. "Let's go," said Duran, who had never been a man of many words.

(OOC: I know that it's impossible for someone to maintain their grip on a pistol after being shot in the shoulder, but Parkinson is right-handed, and was shot in the left shoulder. Valhalla = Valhalla Defense Contractors, a Free Tulsan weapons manufacturer. Also, I need an idea of the layout of the rebel command center and what kind of resistance I should expect.)

The conscript was hit in the stomach. He fell in pain, screaming and bleeding.

"Mediziner!" the other conscript yelled as the two arrived,"Wir haben Verwundeten! Mediziner!"
The one with the sub machine gunner screamed,"Stellen Sie Ihr Gewehr jetzt hin!"
The other one with the bolt-action yelled,"Put your gun down, now!"
The sub machine gunner, who was a Sergeant, was trying to get as many people out of the firefight alive as possible,"Wir werden Sie nicht schießen, wenn Sie jetzt übergeben! Sie werden lebend herauskommen!"
"We will not fire if you come out now! You will come out of this alive!" the rifleman translated. A medic arrived soon, and the injured man began to moan,"Ich will nicht sterben.. bitte.."

Parkinson was intelligent enough to understand the futility of the current situation. He dropped the pistol, struggled to his feet, and raised the one arm he was currently capable of raising.

Duran achieved entry by way of blowing down the door. The plastique sent bits of door flying inward, followed almost immediately by Duran's Marines, who charged into the structure with all the finesse of a car crash, guns blazing.

As he came out, he was let passed. The Sergeant had his gun aimed on him, and the other was in front of him. A few others were coming to help with the injured man.

Duran wouldn't find it so easy. Outside, a dozen Conscripts, half of them with submachine guns, came to investigate. On the inside, 5 conscripts ran to the entrance to see what had happened. As they saw the soldiers rushing through, they took cover, firing at them when they got the chance. Outside, the dozen conscripts started firing into the hall towards them. They would find no immediate cover at the entrance, the nearest cover was at the other end of the hall where the others were. They would be moving down a stairwell at the immediate entrance.

The two men covering the rear were hit; the body armor they were wearing barely stopped rounds aimed at chests (although the impact was still enough to bruise and crack ribs). They were knocked to the floor. Although they were not capable of returning fire, they shouted a warning to the other twenty-three men in the hall. Several Marines spun, spraying the doorway with "Sandman" non-lethal rounds - soft pellets which erupted into dozens of nearly microscopic needles filled with tranquilizer. Duran was well aware of the possible repercussions of killing soldiers in a very large army which controlled the ground on which he stood, and had decided to go in using his limited supply of non-lethals. Once every man in the squad had exhausted his two clips, or once a Marine was killed, the entire group would switch to lethal rounds. One of the Marines near the front of the melee primed and threw a riot grenade, which was a flashbang that also produced a large cloud of smoke. The Marines screamed "Eyes and ears!" and everyone who understood English took a momentary pause from battle to cover the aforementioned body parts. Those who didn't found themselves unable to see or hear clearly as the Marines charged forward, using the time-honored tactic of sheer weight of numbers to try and gain control of some kind of cover. Five Marines had already been wounded, one seriously, and if thy didn't find cover fast things would get very, very bad.

Parkinson heard the gunfire and didn't know whether to be pleased or terrified. He would be unable to resist if the conscripts - or the wounded General - decided to shoot him, and he didn't want to know what kind of unholy hell would be let loose if one of his Marines killed a rebel soldier.

Two conscrits had run forward and into the doorway and were hit several times each with the non-lethal rounds. They fell backwards and were dragged out of the way. The flashbang caught all but two off guard, each of which knew English and were able to react fast enough to the grenade. They didn't know when to stop covering their eyes and ears, however. Three or four more men were coming down the hall with 2 submachine guns and 2 bolt-action rifles. When they reached the stairs, they began to fire up the stairwell, while those outside began to fire down into it.

General Fleischer moved along with the conscripts for a few seconds before he heard the gunshots from a few levels up in the bunker. And then there was the alarm,"They're coming to get him."
He aimed his pistol at Parkinson, holding it up with his uninjured arm.
"Get out your little radio, speak in English, and tell them to get out of here or I will personally blow your fucking brains out." he said, the anger in his voice was rising,"And if they don't leave this place now, they will regret it. All of your forces. If they agree, you go free."

Although he had planned to use them to cover his escape, the situation was bad enough to cause Duran to play his trump cards: three Claymore directional mines hastily placed in a semicircle surrounding the door. The detonation was close enough to send a pellet through his right leg, sending him to the ground with a yell. The pellets from the Claymores expended in a fan-shaped pattern from the point of detonation, splang-ing against concrete and metal and thumping into flesh. Near the front of the line, another Marine was killed by a Zukariaan who emptied a clip into the Marine's chest. There is no body armor yet invented that can stop twenty simultaneous hits. The Marines began sending 7.62mm-diameter death down the hallway, as two opposing groups of men who had absolutely no idea what was going on battled each other for a cause that was not readily apparent to either of them - these men had been talking amiably not three hours before.

Captain James Wong, captain of the Guthrie and de facto commander of the Battle Group in Parkinson's absence, was rather worried. Parkinson had been out of radio contact for some time after his order to cease flying support for the rebels. He came to a decision. He ordered two UH-64 Blackhawk helicopters - "borrowed" from the United States twenty years earlier - to take the few remaining Marines ashore to investigate. Just in case this was all a misunderstanding or a communications error, he had them bring food as an excuse.

Parkinson knew the bastard would do it. Anyone who was willing to murder the men who won the war for him would do anything. He was out of delaying tactics. He lifted the radio to his face, opened the channel labeled "All Hands" in permanent marker, and spoke. "This is an official surrender order. Verification Juliet-Alpha-One-Seven. Throw down your weapons, soldier."

If Duran had known the Admiral's plan, he would have laughed out loud. Duran did not know that the Admiral had just given away his position to anyone with a radio for a hundred miles. He did not know that two helicopters filled with men had just slightly altered their flight path to arive here within six minutes. All he knew was that there was a man with a bayonet running toward him, his clip was empty, and he had official permission to surrender from a flag officer. He dropped his rifle and raised his hands. The wounded and most of the unhurt did likewise, but three men who either did not hear the order or chose to ignore it ran towards the doorway, firing wildly in one of the most breathtaking acts of stupidity ever witnessed. One of them was carrying a shotgun, which he had smuggled aboard the ship, an infraction for which he could court-martialed. He leveled it, and fired one of only two shells he had brought.

When the Blackhawk helicopters arrived, the marines would be greeted by three conscripts yelling at them in German.
"Verlassen Sie jetzt! Sie sind Feinde von der Rebellion und werden geschossen werden, wenn Sie nicht verlassen!" one said.
The other one tried to translate, saying,"Leave.. immediatly.. you are.. uhh.. enemies.. of the.. uhh.. rebellion. You will be... shot.. if you do not leave!"

Parkinson's radio transmission reached the pilot's headset at the same time the two helicopters were ejected from the rebel airfield. Half a minute later, the computer aboard the carrier spat out Parkinson's coordinates. Escorted by two Thunderbirds, the helos changed course.

Nobody reacts well to being shot at several times, and Stafford, despite being a large man in comparison to most, was no different. He jolted as between five to six bullets impacted into his uniformed chest, sending him stumbling back. His hand automatically reached to his holstered sidearm as he lay bleeding on his back.

In that same split-second, the corporal who was guarding the general snapped his weapon into firing position and cut loose with a short burst into the Zukariaan general’s chest, and immediately afterward turning sharply and firing at the soldiers.

Meanwhile, outside, the nine soldiers guarding the entrance set upon the Conscripts there, leveling Stg. 8 assault rifles, and firing in short, controlled bursts. One got on a field radio issued to him before debarking the transport and called to the plane.

“GREEN SQUAD TO COMMAND SQUAD, WE HAVE A SITUATION – OVER.”

“COMMAND SQUAD TO GREEN SQUAD, DO YOU NEED HELP? – OVER.”

“WE ARE UNDER ATTACK AND NEED SUPPORT – OVER.”

"Good. The firing is stopping. Now, we can't just let you go right here, can we?" he said, laughing menicingly,"Move it. We're going outside and you'll hang out in a POW camp until they pick you up and leave."
He shoved him forward and the group began to escort him towards the upperfloors and the exit stairwell.

Meanwhile, as the three men ran outside, two of the conscripts were immediatly killed by the shotgunner before they would find bayonets going through their stomachs. There was no third man to take down the last one, however, and as it all happened, one of them yelled,"Stehen Sie hinunter!" Hoping to get it across his mind to throw his weapons down a surrender. A squad was on it's way from the beach defenses to investigate the happenings at that time.
The firing stopped and the bayonet charge stopped. The conscripts would begin screaming in assorted Russian and German to get the men to move to a POW holding building nearby. They would take their weapons and at the POW "camp" be stripped of gear.

As the two Blackhawks moved through the air, they would recieve a message in a robotic voice (likely because their were no English speaking people to send it,"You are to leave restricted airspace immediatly. Failure to comply will result in attack."
Then another message came in, this time in a Russian accented English,"We will not harm POWs. You are to leave and come back with a non-combat helicopter to take them back to your ship. If you do not, you will be fired on."

The last momentum of their charge exhausted, Parkinson's bodyguards obediently obeyed the hand motions and fractured English of their captors.

The helicopter pilots were both combat veterans, and both knew the advantages of a strategic radio "malfunction", in this case involving the less-than-sophisticated technique of moving a candy wrapper over the headset and deliberately cutting out bits of sentences. Their fighter escorts lit up radars in preperation for possible air attack, and belts were slammed into machine guns mounted in the helos' doors.

Aborad the Guthrie, Captain Wong was considering calling the helicopters back. He came to a compromise. He ordered the helicopters and their escorts to orbit offshore while a team was sent ashore in a Super Stallion transport helicopter to collect the hostages.

The general and one of the conscripts were killed immediatly. The other conscripts was shot in the stomach and arm and was bleeding in torrents, he began to scream in Russian,"Пожалуйста, Бог.. Простите мне ...!!" (Please, God, Forgive me.)

There were two other conscripts in the room, who at the same time began to fire at the Corporal, one with an SMG and the other witha bolt-action rifle.

Outside, the alarms were going off. 12 conscripts came running towards the men outside. Once they realized what was happening, they began to fire at them. The majority had bolt-actions, two had SMGs and one had a shotgun. Behind them, one was setting up a mounted MG.

IC; The rusty pieceof junk pulled as close to the mainland as it oculd before leaky rowboats were thrown in, held to the ship by rope. The men rappelled down the ropes into the leaky rowboat, 3 to each boat. Every boat would also have a bucket for bailing. The men would find that they would go unnoticed, amazingly. The area they landed had one small guard post, and the men were getting drunk and playing poker. The drunken yells in German, which sounded slurred, confirmed that.

Baumkirch, at this point, was hiding on the floor. Unlike his general, the corporal was not in dress uniform, but in combat outfit, Kevlar included. As their bullets slammed into him in rapid succession, leaving severe bruises and breaking two ribs he just switched his rifle into fully automatic and sprayed bullets as he fell back.

Meanwhile, the men outside were having troubles. The incoming enemy fire was accurate in the, extreme considering the weapons being used. Two RRA soldiers went down, dead.

“Kill the bastards!” bellowed the assistant squad-leader, as the remaining men dropped to low fighting positions on the ground and began returning fire. The squad marksman, with his scoped Stg. 8, focused on the man with the SMG first intending to shift to the shotgun immediately upon killing the man.

From the plane, two more figures emerged. One stayed at the doorway, using a rifle to defend his fellow, who descended to the ground, a rifle on his back, an AT-4 and some reloads in his hands. Upon reaching the ground, he assumed the firing position, targeting the vehicle in which an enemy MG nest was being established. He got a good lock…and fired.

The Super Stallion approached the structure being used as a POW holding facility. Inside the helicopter's cavernous cargo bay were three men (besides the negotiators) concealed by a pile of stretchers (they had deliberately brought more stretchers than could possibly be needed). If things went sour, these three men would be responsible for getting everyone out safely. They were members of an elite organization within the Free Tulsan military known as the Snakes, a name derived from the English translation of "Sioux", which was the tribe most of the original members had been from. They were dressed entirely in black and carrying silenced V9C SMGs, which they fervently hoped they wouldn't have to use. The best mission, for them, is the mission that doesn't happen. The helicopter touched down and the investigators cautiously disembarked from the helicopter's rear loading ramp.

The SMG man was taken out, and the shotgunner made three shots before he was killed. Meanwhile, two men were hiding behind the group fixing bayonets. They would run out as fast as possible and try to skewer the men, aiming at the chest and head. After they ran out, the others would run for cover behind vehicles and continue to fire. The MG got a short burst before a rocket slammed into the car, which exploded. The conscript was thrown backwards, spinning a few times. He hit the ground, his face and chest were burnt up, he had lost a leg, and he was screaming in pain.

Inside, one of the conscripts was killed by the burst from the injured corporal. The other one, who had a bolt-action, fired at him , took cover behind the now dead General Zerstörer's desk, where he would reload and shoot again if he the Corporal was alive still. At the same time, another conscript came running down from an upper floor, ready to help. Surprisingly, neither had realized they could abandon their duties as soldiers.

Parkinson had been angry before, but this.....this was something different. The fury he was experiencing was spreading to every part of his conciousness, permeating every thought process. They had killed some of his men - and now, they were going to kill the man he had tried to save, if they hadn't already. As the last dead Marine was loaded on board, Parkinson screamed. He vented his fury upon the eardrums of everyone in earshot. He had made a stupd decision- and people had died because of it, even more people would die because of it. After he exhausted his lungs, logic took over. There was too much that needed to be done to let anger or pain interfere. There were still 1600 paratroopers to extract, which would be extremely dangerous with tension the way it was. Then there was the matter of getting around the government naval blockade in the Straits of Gibraltar. As the corpsman fussed over his bullet wound, he contemplated the shit he would have to shovel before the day ended.

Both men had heard the rumors, and knew that this man would die if they didn't do something. They brought him to battalion headquarters, a prefabricated tin shed that did nothing to keep out the bitter cold. Inside were eight men, going over maps and muttering to each other or themselves. The patrol introduced Kosolov to Major Santorini, who was ethnically Sicilian although he had never been there. After much discussion, it was agreed that he would come with them when they extracted. Not that this would guarantee immediate safety - they were still stuck in the Med until a settlement could be reached with the Zukariaan government.

OOC-Since I don't really have anything to reply to at the moment..

Corse had been taken. Even though the conscripts had held them off for several days, the might of the Empire's armies was too much. With the fear of the coming invasion of Italy, the Rebel High Command ordered a movement of 250,000 troops against the Empire controlled Romania, Hungary, and Slovakia. They would be moving from both sides. The Empire has 200,000 men stationed throughout those countries mainly for defense. There are also many inactive soldiers that could be called to duty if needed.

The attacks would begin within days.

OOC-By the way, where are your guys at?

There wasn't really a public transportation system in place. A lot of the time, soldiers would be moving through town and people were aloud to travel with them, usually in the back of a troop transport truck that had no soldiers. They were freezing cold, and much of the time had fixture for fire in the center that rose from the floor 2 feet. It wasn't much to get the cold away, even when they were sealed and had a fire going. They were advised to take layers of clothing to keep warm. They would find that the nights were much colder.

Zukariaa']OOC-By the way, where are your guys at?

There wasn't really a public transportation system in place. A lot of the time, soldiers would be moving through town and people were aloud to travel with them, usually in the back of a troop transport truck that had no soldiers. They were freezing cold, and much of the time had fixture for fire in the center that rose from the floor 2 feet. It wasn't much to get the cold away, even when they were sealed and had a fire going. They were advised to take layers of clothing to keep warm. They would find that the nights were much colder. OOC: Probably just outside the apartment building.

IC: The men had their extra clothing with them in the form of military uniforms. They had ripped off all makrs that would show it as a military uniform, which meant any shirt pockets or insignias. They wore them under their civilian clothes so if they missed anytihng they would not be mistaken for soldiers, then they spotted a troop transport truck. The men waved towards it, hoping they oculd catch some transportation.

OOC-No, I mean where. Where in Zukariaa?

The driver thought for a moment before saying,"Sicher. Ich werde Sie nehmen."
It was now that the Kubrans would be tested. Would they be able to reply in the normal language in Zukariaa, could any of them speak German? It would be one of their numerous problems while in a foreign country.

Dear Sir or Madam,
We have made a mistake. The rebels are truly terrible people. Some of my own men were killed by rebel forces during this visit. We wish to leave this country now. However, in order to do so, we must be able to pass through your naval blockade in the Straits of Gibraltar. We respectfully request passage. In addition, a young man by the name of Kosolov who was conscripted and forced to fight for the rebels has requested that he be allowed to return to Imperial Zukariaa. If you will allow it, we will deliver him to the airfield of your choice.

Once they got in, the man began to drive. He was headed northward, towards a battleground. In the back were supplies and enough room for the Kubrans. It would be a several day journey, with stops at regular intervals. If the Kubrans could battle the cold, they would be fine..

Hm, I see. We have been getting reports that the idiots have been attacking anyone who goes towards not supporting them. I am glad that I do not have to fight you. It will be easier to crush these fools, now. As for this Kosolov, you may drop him in the Corrol City Internation Airport. He may go where he wants from there.

The High Commander

Slowly through the sky, a missile flew. It was flying over the sea at an enormous speed. It was a cruise missile, behind it were 3 more. They were aimed for the Tulsan fleet. The Rebels were going to try and inflict as many losses on the Tulsan battle fleet as possible. Two of the missiles were aimed for the flagship, the others were aimed for whatever they would hit.
Meanwhile, they had prepared for any counterattack. 200,000 men were stationed along the Italian coast, while 100,000 were stationed in Greece. 50,000 were stationed in Turkey. Most of them were simply scared conscripts who were given guns and forced to fight. The High Command was also readying several nuclear missiles, although only they know what they are going to be for..

Meanwhile, in responce to the overwhelming tide of Rebel Conscripts attacking Romania, Maldova, and several other countries, 300,000 Zukariaan Imperial Soldiers are moving to fight. If they don't make it there quickly, it will be too late..

We Errikans have heard the rumors of the rebels. Though we have no problem with shooting cowards, Communism is the eternal and hated enemy of the Empire. If we had not already supported Zukariaan Imperials, we would now.

OOC-Bump

The assault by the rebels on Imperial territory failed. Their superior numbers did nothing to help against the superior training and equipment of the Empire. Many of them were consumed by the bitter cold, and were never even able to fight. It was now time for a counter-attack. The Empire began it's march on the Rebel Capitol: Kiev. They minimized deaths as much as they could: these were Zukariaans they were attacking, of course. At the same time, 300,000 men began their assault on the Italian coast, attacking a similar force. The men in Armenia began assault on Turkey, with very few men, as they were cut off from reinforcements.

It was then that two missiles, one a nuke, moved towards Romandeos cities. (This was talked about beforehand)

The Empire would crush the rebels..

A Free Tulsan spy sat, speeding over Europe, detected the radioactive emissions of the nuclear device. Within hours, an urgent message was sent to the Carrier Battle Group, now safely in the Atlantic and heading home. The Zukariaan government were going to murder millions of innocent civilians because they happened to be where the rebels were. While Parkinson almost certainly couldn't stop it (Kiev was a long way away), he could certainly cause some trouble. After several hours of briefings and preparation, a team of 27 Snakes was loaded onto a Free Tulsan submarine. They would be inserted into Spain, and would be given the job of generally wreaking havoc among both rebel and government operations, with any WMD getting priority.

OOC-I said that the Empire was going to minimize civilian deaths, they arn't going to be killing millions of anything besides conscripts. Also, there are 4 cruise missiles about to hit your fleet.

And there is no stopping the WMDs that the Rebels launched. Romandeos and I talked about it. Currently, the guys you are sending arn't going to be finding anything bad about the Empire other than that they don't care if the rebels attack anyone.

IC: The men had problems with cold. However, they were smart enough to know how to fend it off. They huddled together to share each others warmth, they also rubbed their hands together, making friction as well as heat. The cold still got to them but the small heat they were able to make was enough to keep them form freezing.

The cruise missiles sped toward the Free Tulsan fleet. Opothleyahola fired her SAMs, which were sufficient to take down two of the missiles. However, it would take thirty seconds to reload her missile racks. The CIWS guns on all the ships tracked the two remaining missiles, and those ships that were able to fired chaff rockets did so. The third missile was splashed by CIWS fire a bit too close to the Oklahoma, and the explosion killed a pilot on the runway and started a fire on the flight deck. The fourth missile was spoofed by a chaff cloud and detonated in the water one hundred yards away from Guthrie, shredding her towed-array sonar. Naturally, this caused another reordering of priorities - the fourth such occurence since the beginning of Free Tulsan involvement in the region. The Snakes were given a different task - the submarine would sneak into the Med and drop the team into the Balkans, with the intent of inciting rebellion within the rebel ranks. A counter-revolution could potentially deliver what the Free Tulsan government wanted - a powerful, democratic ally on the other side of the world.

OOC-I wouldn't just end it! I have to actually finish it, of course! I just want to hurry up the Rebel Crushing. ;)

Unless something more begins to happen. I can't seem to find any way of the Rebels making a decent push against the Imperials, though. I have something in mind, though.

Private Meier felt a little bit of warmth leave his body. He was staring into the eyes of a dead man. Blood was slipping from his mouth and eyes. Meier held the rifle, which extended with a metal bayonet into the man's chest. He was sad. If this had been any other person, if it had not been a Zukariaan, he would not have felt sad.

He was ending the life of someone who actually mattered.

But he would not stop his fight for anyone. It was a loss, a terrible loss, but it was only one human life. He pulled up the rifle, the man lurched upwards and then fell to the ground. He was gurgling, breathing noisely, dieing.

With a scream, Meier stabbed again, then pulled out and ran out of the building. As his feet hit the pavement, an artillery shell slammed into the building sending dust and rubble flying outwards. He flinched, dodged a large peice of flaming wood from God knows where, and ran off. The streets were a mess of gunfire, dead bodies, and rubble. He moved in front of a rebel who was firing at another Imperial. Just as he passed, the Rebel was shot in the face. The back of his head splattered against the wall behind him.

Still running, he moved towards a tank which, before he passed it, blew apart. He skidded to the ground and to a stop as bullets hit the ground behind him. He stopped in a pull of blood next to a man screaming at his blown off stub of a leg. The man was a rebel. Meier stood up, kicked the man in the face, and ran again. His boots and pants were dripping in blood now. He passed several skirmishes, a bombed out building full of scared children, and several dead body groups, likely from ambushes at some time when the assault began.

At a crossroads, he had to take cover two enemy tanks passed with several dozen infantry men. After they passed, he bagan to run again. Just in time, too. The area near that crossroads was hit with bombs as several planes passed overhead. He continued on. Ahead of him several blocks was the Imperial Commander Center. In between, however, was the now amassing Rebel counterattack.

"Shit!" he screamed. He fired fired in a short burst, knocking down several Rebels and then moved through an alleyway. On the other side were two Imperial tanks. Instead of accompany them, however, he ran in the same direction as before. He was getting tired, but he didn't care.

Finally, he reached his spot, he ran down another alleyway going back to the street from before. At the other end of it were to Imperial Soldiers who let him through to the Command Center. A blockade of the street and several apartment blocks. There was a man on a machine gun mowing down advancing Rebel Infantry, cheered on by two laughing soldiers who were getting shots off of their own.

Entering the CC main building, he found General Kyler. The man was respectable, to say the least. He was a veteran of the Danteri Conflict, and had overlooked the killings of 250 million Danteri men, women, and children. To a Zukariaan, killing foreign enemies was like stomping on a bug. It was fun, and you wanted to kill them all.

Until he had entered the building, he hadn't noticed how freezing cold it was outside. The warmth inside was great.

"General, I have good news.." he said, trying to catch his breath,"About the rebel advancements, they were moving an armored division that got bombed, and we knocked out most of their artillery."

"Good.." he said,"Now, we're about to assault town center. Is there anything else?"

He sighed, now was the bad news,"They're pushing a million soldiers from the south to counter attack and retake the city."

"Good. We can take care of the bulk of their forces and easily take their southern holdings." the General laughed,"These rebels really are stupid."

"Yes, well, I look forward to killing their leaders.." he said with a bow.

"Whoever gets to them first gets to do whatever they want to them." the General smiled, stood up, and left.

The Empire was in Kiev.

"What are we going to do?! The Imperials are at our doors, we will be destroyed! We must win this war!"

As the Rebel High Commander spoke, one General would not take much more. He slammed his fist on the table, lifted his pistol, and shot the man directly in the face. Brains splattered through the back of his skull and against the wall. His body slowly shifted, then slammed face down on the table. The other men in the room looked at the General in surprise. Eyes wide, mind confused.

"This is bullshit! We've been doing what this fucker wants all this time, and for what? So that we can die when the Imperials bust down that door?" he was standing now. That was when, though he had never done anything wrong, though he had originally wanted peace and democracy within Zukariaa, though he had wanted to remove Corrol from his seat of power, another man in the rom fired on him. The bullet hit him in the chest, immediatly followed by another one. He stepped backward, gasping and grabbing at himself. Blood was flowing from his wounds, seeping through his military uniform. He fell back and died.

The man who had shot him looked angry. Blood had splattered from the original Rebel High Commander onto his face and clothes,"What the hell did that idiot think he was doing?! Now we can't win! We must continue! Fight until we die!"

He was cut short. A pistol was pointed at his head,"No! I agree with what he had said!"

Another pistol was aimed at this man's head. At this point, half of the Rebel High Command was either dead or had a gun pointed at them. The other half sat silently, waiting for what would happen. A gun shot. The man who had shot the General, who in turn had shot the Rebel High Commander, was shot. In turn, the man who had shot him was shot by the other man. At this point, the other half of the people in the room were starting to get anxious. Suddenly, however, the door into the room burst apart with machine gun fire. Two of the men in the room were hit by the bullets, and the others either ran towards the walls, or ducked under the table.

The door broke open, followed by several Zukariaan soldiers moving in and grabbing the Rebel High Command that still lived. Only 3.

"What the hell happened here?" General Kyler looked around in confusion at the dead men in the room. He was speaking to the three men that still lived, who were now lined up and under guard.

"Mutiny.."

"Ah. I see. They did our job for us." he said,"Now you order the million conscripts you have marching towards Kiev to stop."

"But..!" the man was shot from behind, falling to the ground. Dead.

"No 'buts'." Kyler replied. He looked at the man who had been in the middle of the three.

"I-well-fine! Just don't hurt us!" he said. He was walked to the center of the room, where there was a microphone. He grabbed it and spoke.

"General.. order your march to an end. The Rebellion is over. Over."

"Erm.. yes, sir! Over."

"Good." Kyler said, he pulled out his pistol and shot the man. A soldier by the name and title of Private Meier killed the other, the last one, with a short burst from his rifle.

There would be much to rebuild, and much to fix, but the Zukariaan Civil War had come to an end.

But there was still the problem of the nukes the Rebels had launched at Romandeos..
