The State of George Rooke

Sovereign Gibraltar
29-06-2006, 07:03
When George Rooke took Gibraltar in the name of Archduke Charles of Spain, he was given the chance to rule it as an independent state, and he did so. George was named ''Duke George I of the Grand Duchy of Gibraltar''. He was later given the name Grand Duke of Gibraltar. George Rooke married and raised a family in his new state (thinking on this). Cloudesley Shovell, who served with Rooke in the capture of Gibraltar stayed and became an offical.

In later time, Gibraltar got Ceuta and Melilla under its control. It is ruled by a Grand Duke of Gibraltar.

A List of Some Grand Dukes (Rough Copy):

1. George Rooke, Admiral or Rear Admiral (1704?-1709?)
2. Richard Faulkner, Grand Duke (1709?-1734)
3. John Falconer, Grand Duke (1734-1767)
4. James Wainwright (1767-1803)
5. Edward Peregrine (1803-1845)

Ceuta and Melilla are led by Governors, in the service of the Grand Duke. The current governor of Ceuta is Richard Hacker. The current Governor of Melilla is John Fowler. The current Grand Duke is George IX (George Archer, may change later).

There was only one Governess of Gibraltar, Governess Catherine Abbott (may change later, thinking on if I would want to keep this and/or what not) who was an ok ruler.

Gibraltar continues to live as an independent state today. What does the future hold for the Jabal aţ-Ţāriq (جبل الطارق)?

For now ends the intro to Gibraltar, the Grand Duchy of Gibraltar.
