One year... one year since the fall of the Corporate Dictatorship. One year since the democracy was established. In a historical perspective, the Democracy was a grand first step in Red Tidean History.

Since the coming of Russian Colonists in the 1700s, Red Tide was ruled by three major powers. First was, of course, Tsarist Russia. After the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution however, Red Tide was ruled by come-and-go self-proclaimed kings and president-for-lives. Then the Soviet Union took over in the 1950s, marking the SU as the second major faction to control Red Tide. In 1990, with the collapse of the Soviet Union, Red Tide was once again on-and-off ruled by president-for-lifes and dictators. Finally, Supreme Commander Gregori McKenna took power after that last coup-de-ta. This marked the beginning of the third major faction to control Red Tide... the Corporate Dictatorship.

Gregori was never liked, the people were either too busy trying to survive to care or too scared to speak up. Gregori's appointed minister of research was the one who came up with the HCC, or Hallucigenic Control Collar. All Red Tidean Soldiers at or below the rank of Major had these collars surgically implanted. Generals, field marshals, and colonels could try and take over, but they would need to have support of the common soldier first. With this, the common soldier and secret police officer would never turn his back on his Supreme Commander.

Now, Red Tide was a democracy, Gregori was gone, as was the HCCs and the oppression both had brought with. It had taken foreign intervention to get rid of him, but it had happened and Red Tide was now free... the problem was, Gregori was never found.

It began in the Northwestern hills, military bases, cities, villages, all stopped communicating with the Capitol of Ariga. Military units sent into the Northwest to investigate disappeared. The vacuum of information spread, but by the time it reached the central desert, it was all too apparent as to what was happening...

... Gregori was back.

IC: By now, the Free Democracy of Red Tide Military was deployed, reservists were called up. When they arrived on their base, they were shocked, surprised, and horrified to learn that their enemy was the Corporate Dictatorship of Red Tide, being led by none other then Supreme Commander Gregori McKenna.

Most Field Marshals and Generals, who had enjoyed positions of power and junk, fled the country when it surrendered, thus all of the new generals and field marshals were inept and uncreative.

Official Statement from the Free Democracy of Red Tide
"We are in dire need! Our former oppressors are back! We lack the numbers to stop them! We need foreign assistance! We need-"

The message was cut off abruptly, as were television, radio, and other electronic signals going out of Red Tide. At the same time, a message came out of the area under control of the re-proclaimed Corporate Dictatorship.

Official Statement from the Corporate Dictatorship of Red Tide
"Help us nations of the world! We must lift the shackles of oppression from the incorrectly named 'Free Democracy'! We must show the people light!"
End Statement

The government of N Y C recieved word of the brewing civil war in Red Tide with alarm. President Azullias had long despised the dictatorship there, and had warmly welcomed the introduction of democracy there. He could not allow a return to those dark days where Red Tide's people were oppressed and its military posed a threat to the free world.

Encrypted Communique to the Free Democracy of Red Tide:

N Y C is deeply troubled by the resurgence of Gregori McKenna. The armed forces of N Y C are deploying the 8th and 12th fleets to Red Tide, as well as 3 air wings and a 20,000 strong force. We will also contact our fellow GAPTS members on whether or not the orginization will get involved.
Sincerely,
President Israel Azullias

OOC: Umm. TSS and probably Aequatio and Czardas didn't move their troops out yet, mate. And I know I have a cruiser and some destroyers off the coastline.
