Ok,

I have an idea for a group of militants/terrorists taking over one of Ostia's newly commissioned battleships. There will be insiders in this attempt to take over the fully operational vessel, the way this will take place is engineers/cooks arrive by helicoptor then the action will take place in the engine rooms/Galley working their way above decks. Another smaller vessel with more terrorists will arrive shortly after with more small arms and men to assist in the effort, the most powerful weponry on the battleship will be off loaded on a ex soviet submarine while all the confusion is taking place, the demands made will only be made to stall.

The terrorists will be very well trained and equiped for this mission. I ask that players who are interested please post on this thread also adding your charactor information.

I hope this gets off the ground, thank you....

I don't have time to RPthis, I'd just like to point out a battleships most potent weaponry is always its guns, and you can't remove them at sea.
Kirisubo
27-06-2006, 23:11
most modern battleships also have cruise missiles or something similiar as well as guns so there is something to steal.
[NS::]Reallydrunk
27-06-2006, 23:14
The missiles would be stolen DUH.... how would one remove the guns from a battleship at sea?...common now..

Kirisubo...would you be able to turn on Msn?

'The most powerful weaponry'

That, and how do you plan to shift a Cruise Missile from a ship with a high freeboard onto a submarine?

Could I play a Toopoxican spy who has infiltrated the crew of the battleship?

If not then I'll edit.

Unnessary beams/pieces of the ship will be removed forming a pully system to transport the missiles off the vessel where they will be placed in the submarines holds of course....

Toopoxia thats acceptable, thank you for signing up...

Was it really nessasary(sp?) to use the Missouri?

Hey this sounds like that movie about this exact same thing, with the same ship!

You're going to use manpower to move a cruise missile? How are you going to load it into this submarine? Where is it going to be stored on the submarine, bearing in mind submarines don't have the facilities to store these kind of weapons, or access to them on the high seas.

Inspiration....my friend.

Yes i know which movie you are talking about, Steven Segal is a pretty good actor. Same idea but not quite the same story/outcome...

Mechanical to a certian extent, it is possible to move the missile on the submarine from the ship by use of a pully system. I also beg to differ about the space they would take up, the submarine has no operational weponry aboard and it's stores are able to hold these missiles.

Yes, but you don't have the dock machinery onboard a floating warship to do this. If you can't reload missiles at sea, how are you going to unload them? You can't, quite simply. A more realistic scenario would be $bad_guy is trying to capture the vessel to bombard Washington, or hijack an armed convoy with loads of fuel. Not stealing weapons that would be easier to take from a military base as opposed to attacking a battleship and then mounting an extremely expensive operation to remove them.

I see your point, although offloading missiles this way would seem to make more sence than attacking a military installation...how would one transport the stolen weapons without national guard or other military forces making contact stopping them where they stand? What would they have to keep the soldiers away? no hostages...no multi-million dollar ship that might even be salvageable after the assault. Granted cranes and such would not be at the terrorists disposal but there are other ways...

It is a some what expencive operation but there is equipment to work with while at sea, also nothing could get anywhere near the vessel granting them time to work.

Under Siege may have been set on the Missouri, but it was shot on the USS Alabama, a floating museum in Mobile, Alabama.

Since Danteri has been having a really long war, its got no shortage of trained military personel - even plenty of elite guys. Some of the most elite are the Commandos, who have been fighting someone or other for near enough to their whole lives - they're really good at killing...
Anyway, could an ex-commando (one whose gone mercenary) be part of the terrorist team?

Mutiny on the Potemkin?
That was a Russian Battleship during 1918, and that was caused by poor food.

Best part is when they leveled the Potmkin's guns on some russian port to get back at the Czar's trrops that massacred their families.

Then 3 more battleships defected and joined the Potemkin.

And that is a true story.

Unless you are talking about that other movie. Based entirely on fictioal events. (except that the USS Wisconsin really is longer than any other battleship still afloat)

I'll consider sending a small team to sink the battleship and salvage secret documents and hardware once they start making CNN.

I don't care who'se special forces kill who but if they're going to do any killing. Please do it with my gun...

I've got cheaper stuff,
CZ-75 Automatic pistol (http://www.ginklai.net/images/galerija/3997_cz75fa.jpg)
two 20 or 30 round magazines (shown with 15 round mgazines)
Fully automatic
Very accurate for a pistol

2nd clip acts as front handgrip

Cost:$50 each
$25 for 120 mm/5" barrel extension and clip on buttstock
makes a nice cheap carbine, good out to 200 meters in this fashion

You never heard of that movie?

It was the last uncensored movie done in the USSR. After that the film industry was completely state controled.

It's almost a must see.

(since it was a silent movie, translation was only a matter of using translated narrative edited in place of the original).

It even has that memorable (and often copied) scene with the baby carriage tumbling down a flight of steps after the Czar's troops guns down the mother during a rally (they where called into the park and then summary executed for providing the Potemkin crew with food and fuel).
