History
The Confederacy traces its roots through nearly 50 thousand years of history. Many records have been lost to the sands of time, though certain facts are clear.
What is known of the earliest beginnings of what would become the Confederacy known today starts on ancient Earth. After mass colonization of the solar system was completed, humanity looked to the stars to further its place in the universe. Construction then began on relativistic colony ships.
This titanic effort was made easier by the abundant supply of space island colonies already present. Instead of constructing a new ship, a radiation shield and engines were simply attached too an existing colony.
After decades of construction the fleet of interstellar ships lit their drives and raced into the vast emptiness between the stars. One such colony, XE-S5M1T41A however met an unexpected fate.
After five years into its journey the colony-ship encountered an exceedingly rare phenomena, a wormhole large enough to transport the entire colony. The colony plunged into the wormhole, though not by choice. The wormhole formed, swallowed the colony and was destroyed too fast for any evasion.
The colony found itself in a strange location and heavily damaged. They were fortunate to have been expelled from the wormhole near a planet suitable for human life. That planet is known today as Xess, the capital world of the Confederacy.
The colony landed on the planet and began construction of a settlement. The remaining colonists numbered five million after having their numbers cut in half by the transit through the wormhole.
At this point historic records become unclear for nearly ten thousand years when the first Confederacy was born. Taking the designation of the original colony, XE-S5M1T41A, the name Xessmithia was born. It was then revealed that the colony had landed in the Magellan Galaxy, 526 million light-years beyond the Milky Way.
In the intervening forty-thousand years the Confederacy has gone through over a dozen reformations in structure and policy. The current Confederacy is the seventeenth.
Our current population stands at just above nine quintillion sapients, spread over forty-five million systems. Concentrated on the five thousand core worlds is the majority of the population living in planet spanning cities that stretch for kilometers underground and into the sky housing hundreds of trillions on each planet alone. These massive populations are supported by a massive network of hundreds of thousands agriculture rings run by advanced robotics in thousands of empty star systems.
Resources are gathered from across the millions of barren star systems in the Magellan Galaxy and the surrounding dwarf galaxies providing near limitless raw material and energy. Advanced installations draw matter directly from the most massive of stars themselves collecting needed heavy metals and using the solar energy to refine ore and produce fuel.
Trade lanes are constantly bustling with tens of millions of transports every day. Protecting it all is the Confederate Star Patrol civil law enforcement agency and the sapients in the Confederate Armed Forces.
Star Patrol polices the starlanes of the Confederacy with it's 22.7 quadrillion officers. Equipped to deal with any internal threat Star Patrol is a force to be reckoned with, but it is not up to the task of defending against foreign aggression.
That job falls to the Confederate Armed Forces. Smaller in number than Star Patrol, with 3.8 quadrillion members able to be deployed into combat and 11.6 quadrillion in support roles, the Armed Forces are a highly mobile, highly trained, high firepower fighting force. The Navy has the ability to deploy anywhere within the Magellan Galaxy and her satellite galaxies in mere hours with the Army and Space Force not far behind.
With ships able to outrace the fastest fighters of other nations and ships capable of slagging entire worlds with a single shot the Confederate Armed Forces is the long arm of the Confederacy. When on a total war setting no known nation can hope to stand long against the might of the CAF.
Despite the great size and power of the Confederacy, its presence in the Milky Way and the surrounding galaxies is however limited. While the Confederacy has ships capable of crossing the distance it takes a fleet of tankers and ten years to cross despite the great speed of Confederate FTL. Thus all transit is done through special tachyon gates which allow near instant travel between the Magellan Galaxy and the Milky Way. These Mega-gates are the connection to the Magellan Galaxy of the Milky Way Expeditionary Force, a small group of Star Patrol, Armed Forces and civilian infrastructure measuring 6.641 billion as of the last census.
The MWEF was commissioned to start a Confederate presence in the human home galaxy. They were given the best technology to start colony worlds, of which there are now seven. These worlds are connected to home by three tachyon mega-gates, these gates are kept open only enough to allow communications through to the extreme energy requirements of activating it to full power. Every eight months the MWEF Star Patrol and Armed Forces are swapped out, this is the only time the gates are open to full capacity. If a situation arose that required a response from the main fleet it would still take four months for the reactors to charge the mega-gates.
These gates are some of the most protected installations in the whole Confederacy, as the destruction of one would mean chaos for the MWEF and spell a massive downfall of morale as well as a cessation of needed re-enforcements.
Such an event happened during the last civil war which resulted in the current seventeenth Confederacy being formed. This most recent civil war was known as "The War of Isolationism", fought between the Confederate Loyalists and the Magellan Isolationist Union, broke out into open hostilities in 49,973 ACF and ended with the defeat of the MIU in 49,991. The war lasted 18 years due to the near total destruction of modern infrastructure and fleet reserves in the opening weeks of the war which required 15 years to rebuild to levels sufficient to allow the Confederacy to retake the systems lost to the MIU. Civil infrastructure and transport routes took next to a century to restore to pre-war levels to finally allow the Confederacy to resume operations in the Milky Way Galaxy.

Taxonomic classification: Homo sapiens sapiens
Average Lifespan: 480 years
Species Information: Homo sapiens sapiens is the dominant species in the Confederacy and has been since its foundation. The current generation of H.s.sapiens has inherited the benefits of nearly 50,000 years of genetic engeneering and is more resistant to disease, radiation and has had their lifespan tripled from what was once thought of as the maximum human lifespan. H.s.sapiens fall into any spectrum and personality and are adept at any field or occupation they work towards.
Bowman's Wolf
Taxonomic classification: Canis rufus sapiens
Average Lifespan: 486 years
Species Information: Canis rufus sapiens was the first widely succesfull genetically engineered sapient. The social habits of their base species Canis rufus allowed members of C.r.sapiens to easily join H.s.sapiens culture and society. Their keen sense of smell gives them a unique perspective on life that most H.s.sapiens find refreshing. Like members of H.s.sapiens, C.r.sapiens can excell at anything they put their minds too.
Bowman's Jaguar
Taxonomic classification: Panthera onca sapiens
Average Lifespan: 413 years
Species Information: Arguably the least succesfull engineered sapient P.o.sapiens has a population as large as it does simply due to the fact that it has been around only slightly less than C.r.sapiens. Despite many milenia of acclimatization most members choose to live apart from society, unlike their engineered brethren. While as diverse as any sapient, this attitude seems to have become a meme among P.o.sapiens and you'll find most of them living in isolated colonies.
Unfortunately for the species most of their colonies were destroyed by the racist and fascist Magellan Isolationist Union during the War for Isolationism. The MIU unfortunately managed to kill 98% of the population of P.o.sapiens in the chaotic opening phase of the war due to the isolated nature of their population centers. Their current population stands at 54 trillion members reduced from 5.4 quadrillion.
Bowman's Falcon
Taxonomic classification: Falco peregrinus sapiens
Average Lifespan: 304 years
Species Information: Despite the stereotype most Falco peregrinus sapiens are not pilots. While their avian ancestry does grant them superior eyesight and spatial awareness invidiual F.p.sapiens are as diverse as humans.

Taxonomic classification: Carcharodon carcharias sapiens
EXTINCT
Average Lifespan: 267 years
Species Information: The most recent genetically engineered sapient in the Confederacy, C.C.sapiens was created to utilize the vast resources available in the oceans of Confederate orbitals and planets. Their ability to survive underwater without specialized equipment has allowed oceanic resource development to skyrocket due to decreased cost.
Species went extinct in 49,832 due to a species wide pandemic.
*I took this concept from the webcomic Freefall. The other "Bowman's" species are my own derivatives of that idea. I do not claim to be the creator of the Bowman's Wolf in any way.
Notable Other Species
Resistance to the "Supernatural"
Due to genetic engineering, natural evolution, and just engineering in the case of AIs, sapients of the Confederacy have an innate resistance to the so called "supernatural". Essentially the stronger one's will the more resistant one is to the effects, while that itself is not unknown to users of the "supernatural" sapients of the Confederacy have an innate boost to this ability. As such it takes far more than the average user of the "supernatural" has to affect a Confederate sapient.
OOC: This is essentially just my take on D&D style Spell Resistance. As in the more powerfull a caster the more likely they are to affect a Confederate sapient. The following values represent different sapients and the approximate level a caster has a 50% chance of succeding.

UBT Superalloy
UBT Superalloy is the primary material used to construct the load bearing sections and frames of starships and large structures in the Confederacy. The material is kinetically super-conductive trasnferring force throughout the entire frame instantly. The material has a yield strength in the hundreds of millions TPa
In development this material was called Unobtanium as a testament to it's difficulty to create. While it is now easily produced in mass quantities the name stuck and was shortened from Unobtanium to UBT.
QISCA
QISCA(pronounced kiss-ka) is an acronym for Quark-gluon plasma Impregnated Super Conducting Armor. It is a mixture of UBT Superalloy and thermally superconductive material impregnated with extremely small amounts of quark-gluon plasma. When energy strikes the armor it is conducted throught the armor instantly. The UBT allows the armor to withstand kinetic strikes extremely well, althouth not as well as "pure" UBT would be.
It takes 4.2x10^14 Joules to vapourize one cubic meter of QISCA.

Hyperdrive
Confederate hyperdrive converts the ship into tachyonic matter via a quantum mechanical property that appears at velocities very close to that of light. The ship uses its complex mass fuel as a ballast to activate the transition, which occurs in under a Planck-second. The speed of hyperdrive varies according to several variables. Civilian craft normally operate at 1 to 10 megacees while military craft operate at upwards of 50 megacees.
Tachyon Gate
These generate a type of hyper-dimensional passage between two gates. Craft travel through this passage at upwards of 550 petacees.
Jump Drive
This drive finds a quantum tubule, expands it and then uses it to transport a ship up to a range of 10 light-years. It is the least energy intensive of all Confederate FTL and the most primitive.
Communication and Detection
Hyperwave
Like radio waves hyperwaves are used for both communication and detection at FTL speeds. The signals propagate at 945 teracees. Thus all FTL communication between the Magellan Galaxy and the MWEF is done through Tachyon gates via comm drones.

Standard Armor: The standard Confederate body armor is a suit of hard armor over the torso, legs and arms over a flexible fabric. It is fully NBC proof and incorporates a small shield generator which allows for great resistance to kinetic and energy attacks. The hard plates are 1 mm thick and are equivalent to 100 meters of RHA steel. The complete armor masses 8 kg, or 17.6 pounds.

The Confederacy fields many different kinds of missile weapons. The two primary missiles are KE impactors and Annhilation warheads.
KE impactor missiles are accelerated to 1x10^-5% beneath c by the launcher. This gives them an effective yield greater than their mass-energy. The explosion is however omni-directional.
Annhilation warheads annhilate an amount of matter then focus the explosion forward in a 2 degree cone. While less powerfull then KE impactors this focused blast causes far more damage.

In case anyone is wondering the armor I'm using for my tanks has a resistance compared to RHA steel ratio of 100,000:1. Which means basically that 1 cm of the armor is equal to 1 km of steel plate. The Legionnaire has 100mm 60 degree sloped armor on the turret and glacis and 50mm non-slope elsewhere. The Titan has 300 mm of armor turret and glacis sloped and 150 elsewhere. The Hoplite has sloped 20mm on the turret and glacis and 20mm non-sloped elsewhere.
The armor on all the tanks is perforated like the Leopard 2 to resist the equivalent of HEAT warheads. This also helps against the 1% c kinetic rounds I shoot as the rounds instantly turn into plasma on contact and empty space will help diffuse it so it will be less penetrative.

I've altered the size of the Grizzly-class Star Destroyer to match the scale I have for length with respect to reactor output. I also need to change the scale of the Magnificent-class frigate.
My tanks have been altered again as well. Mass has been altered to reflect the change of 100mm thick front armor to 300mm thick armor on the Legionnaire. I also changed the round velocity to reflect the energy required to punch through armor. I'm using 11 kJ/mm I have no idea how that compares to actual armor but it's what I'm using. You'll note that the M-663 can't penetrate the front armor of another M-663, that's intentional to require that a side or rear armor hit is required. I've also altered the Titan's gun stats.

Updated my ship entries with new crew size, cargo capacity and overall ship volume. The volume is found by taking the volume of an ellipsoid twice the length of my ships but the same width and height and dividing that volume by 4 and rounding down to the nearest single decimal place. Cargo capacity is 5% overall ship volume. The new crew figures are 4 times the size of my old ones as I retconned that as the on-duty crew in a single 6-hour duty shift, of which there are 4 daily. Each crew-member gets 5 cubic meters of personal living space in the form of a shared 10 cubic meter room with a roommate.

Confederate Navy Designation System
General
While modern space warfare bares little resemblance to planetary ocean based or "wet" warfare, ships are still classified in wet navy positions that have since become representative of general combat power rather than any specific role. Each step up the chain represents roughly an order of magnitude increase in reactor output and thus combat power.
In the Confederacy there are two officially recognized scales of naval ships, the standard scale and the "Star" scale. Star scale ships are six orders of magnitude (one million times) more powerful than the equivalent standard scale ship and are strictly in use by the military though there is overlap with the standard scale's upper end. Ship designations of the star scale have the prefix S to denote the Star scale status of the vessel. There is a hypothetical third scale, the galactic, which would be six orders of magnitude above the star scale. No such vessel has ever been constructed or will likely to be for the foreseeable future.
