Operation Burning Liberty: The Rebellion of Mer des Ennuis

Mer des Ennuis

Mer de Ville d’Ennuis, Mer des Ennuis Home Guard Central Command
Marshal of the Home Guard, MSH. Varfolomey Maxim, sat at the head of a long, ebony table inlayed with mother of pearl. The room, at the center of the command bunker of the Home Guard, was walled with bookcases holding a multitude of tactical books, manuals, and plans. Each of the twenty-two seats had a built-in tactical uplink to the Mer des Ennusian version of JSTARS, and could receive a secured transmission from any location. Msh. Maxim sat alone in the darkened room, and was connected to Major Generals heading each of the 3 segments of the Mer des Ennuisian home guard; North, Central, and Southern commands, the Grand Admiral of the Mer des Ennusian Naval Guard, and the Sky Marshal of the Mer des Ennuisian Air Guard.
“Gentlemen, you know why I have called you today, and I will be brief.” spoke the Marshal quietly. “We’ve planned since the rebellion for this, and now it is time to execute Burning Liberty.”

Mer de Noms, Capitol Building
Carpathia Ziemowit sat in his office. It was another boring day, and with no dissidents to deal with, he poured himself a scotch. He flipped a few channels on one of the wall mounted TVs, saw nothing was on, and meandered over to the window and looked past the gates into the Plaza de Gloire Éternelle, dedicated to the fallen service men of Mer des Ennuis. Today was an overcast day, and two platoons of guardsmen escorting two ZSU-23-4 Shilkas each met in the center of the square. The 1st lieutenant leading the patrol stopped. He waved his hand, giving an attack signal.
The guardsmen started to disperse towards the compound, while all four ZSUs sprayed bullets at the unspuspecting Army Guard positions. The Arsonist was shocked, though not enough to avoid leaping for cover when the ZSUs sprayed at his office, penetrating the bullet proofed glass. Alarms went off throughout the building. Carpathia ran to his gun locker, and pulled a Steyr Aug A3 and a Spas-15 shotgun. He hit a button under his desk, signaling a direct attack on the capital building. He looked out his window in time to see javelin missiles hit the Shilkas, blowing the turrents off, while machinegun emplacement raked across the lines charging guardsmen. His red phone, what he called the “oh shit” phone, rang.
“This is the Arch Arsonist speaking, and what the fuck is going on!?” he yelled into the phone.
“Sir, this is General of the Armies Bohdan Yosyp. We have reports of attacks across the country on key military installations by national guardsmen.”
“What?”
“Sir, I believe that the guard is in full rebellion. We have taken light casualties, and it does not seem to be fully organized yet. Right now, we believe every city is compromised, and we have credible reports that the maritime guard and air guard are hostile as well…Uh, sir, I’ve just been handed a report that the small attack against your building has been repelled, and the CO has been captured alive.”
“Thank you General. We do not have enough forces in this building to last more than a day against any kind of sustained attack. Presuming this rebellion is as bad as you say it is, you are ordered to re-take the capital, regardless of the cost. Send the 1st army group. We are now at Red Alert.
“Yes Sir!”
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
The time passed was ten minutes. Within those ten chaotic minutes, loads happened. For the most part, citizens were unaware that the government was in shambles, and they would receive a rude awakening. While the Mer des Ennusian Home Guard was not ready for all out conflict, the 1st and 2nd Army stationed outside of Mer de Noms were. 60 of the 40 divisions’ RQ-9 Predator 2 UCAVs were up in the air, while five were circling around the Capitol Building. They flew low enough to appear as a false returns on the Guardsmen Shilka’s radar, yet flew quietly and fast enough to avoid being targets for their many SAMs. Within those ten minutes, massive electronics warfare assets were activated. The average citizen lost cell phone reception, received static on radios, and thought sunspot activity was interrupting their currently scheduled programming.
Airguard crewmen at joint Airforce/Airguard bases were detained, preventing most of their F-22 Raptors, F/A-18E Superhornets, and F-35 Joint Strike Fighters from taking off. The few remaining Airguard bases were targeted for immideate suppression by GF-02 Fighterbombers and B-1b lancer bombers. Outside of Mer de Noms, 200 GF-02s, always on alert, were scrambled. Barracks of the 6 divisions of Guardmen in the capital were the first target, and many took half-ton light bunker buster hits. The Air Force followed up with attacks by multiple bombing runs from twenty-five B-52 Stratofortresses. A T-12 twenty-two ton earthquake bomb was dropped on the Homeguard headquarters bunker in the city, causing an internal collapse, killing an estimated 5,000 casualties.
The Mer des Ennuis Navy was, on average, 100 nautical miles from shore, and no where near major cities, giving the Maritime Guard free reign to provide sea and limited air cover for coastal city garrisons, if only for a brief time.

Mer de Noms
Within half an hour of the Red Alert order, 40 divisions of regular army finished what little mobilization was left to move. After an additional half an hour, the 16 mechanized divisions had breached what passed for an outer perimeter of the capital. The forward units of the eight Air Assault divisions held a position outside of easy line of sight of potential anti-air units, yet close enough to provide immediate firepower to the advancing mechanized forces. The light divisions would take another hour to do the same. The Capital, guarded by six divisions of guardsmen, fell with almost no casualties to either side. The immediate, coordinated, massive bombardment of key guardsmen barracks and assets, combined with the destruction of Homeguard headquarters, left them with their pants down. Of the 110,598 guardsmen, an estimated 16,000 were killed with 30,000 wounded. An additional 25,000 were confirmed captured, with the remaining unaccounted for and presumed hostile. The same occurred in The commanders of all assets of the Homeguard, Maritime Guard, and Air guard were wanted for “questioning.” MSH. Varfolomey Maxim was now one of the most wanted men on earth, and wanted dead or alive.
Many cities; Porte de Richesse, Porte de Bouclier, Porte d' Honneur, Le Garde Porte, Ville de Deplorement, La Ville de Argentee, Ville des Ames, La Ville de D'or, Deuxime Enterprise, La Lame De L'Epee, fell in much the same way, with only, on average, 1/4th of the garrisions surviving. This left much of the north and south of the country in open rebellion. The

Two messages were sent: one from the Arch Arsonist out of the recently secured capital, the other from the command bunker of the home guard.

Open Comminique
Today, the Armed Republic faced its darkest day. The Homeguard, beloved by all, has betrayed the ideals that our sacred union is based upon, and has committed the most cowardly act of dishonor a soldier is capable of: Treason. They have forsaken their countrymen and have no honor, and must be destroyed like the vermin that they are. Today, I am declaring Martial Law in all the cities, towns, and hamlets of Mer des Ennuis. I encourage all loyal citizens to root out traitors in their midst, and to not cooperate with the scum of the Homeguard. Death most painful will be delt to all who stand against the might of our Republic!

Mer des Ennuis…four months ago…
A weird and strange deal was finalized. The purchase of two large warehouses and a small office building in three cities of Mer des Ennuis: Ville de Bruit, Ville d'Espoir, and Villi de la Vie. These buildings were bought by Brown Printing Firm, a company owned by the mammoth Timber Wolf Inc of the Dominion. A company owned by the most powerful and dangerous man in all of the Dominion, the one and only Count JWolf. Nobody knows why the building were bought. Maybe it was because the Count wants more money. Whatever it was the deal was done. The first few weeks, crews cleaned out the warehouse and building. Crews that were born in Mer des Ennuis.

The next few weeks were when the printing press and other thing were shipped in. At the same time, four hundred fifty Dominionites were sent over to Mer des Ennuis. Men and women who knew how to use everything the company was using. Or that was what it looked like.

These men were really members of the 5th Sword Wolves and of the 6th Soul Tigers. Soldiers of the Dominion given real papers without their real names to give the Mer des Ennuis officials to get right to work in a Dominion controlled company in their nation. Everything was right, the soldiers got what they wanted. The funniest part of it all was the fact that their weapons and other thing were shipped in with the company printing presses. Their rifles and pistol were broke down, hidden in the printing press. Their grenades hidden in the printing presses, an x-ray would think they were just part of the press. Their knifes hidden in the printing presses, too. The hardest thing to get in was the Transylvanian body armor, they did not come in with the printing presses.

The armor came in with shipments from another Dominion company, a wine making company. The armor was hidden with-in large crates of wine bottle. Hundreds of bottles in one crate. At the docks, the wine crate were unload and the armor was took out without nobody around. The armor was delivered later to the printing company warehouses. The guns, the knives, and the armor were store in the basement of the warehouses. Hidden behind false doors, which lead to the large armory.

That was four months ago and news off the attack of the capital building went though the office in Ville d'Espoir. More reports came thought in that office and the other two about the attacks of the Home Guard. Civil war had come to Mer des Ennuis and it was time for the Dominionites to pick a side. The one hundred thirty soldiers at the warehouse in each city were preparing to suit up and fight. The ones in the each office, twenty men, were waiting to move. Making sure it was safe to move without weapons or their armor to the warehouse. All they had were their knifes, good thing the office men were from the Sword Wolves because their knifes were easy to hide.

[OOC: I just picked a random reasonable distance, can be changed if nessecary, oh and Aralonia, use your imagination on what the message said.]

IC:

[5793km East, Northeast; Avalon Military Complex, OMNI Headquarters]

Avalon was your average town, church, obligatory bar and post office, high rises of average size, everything that marked a costal city of 200,000 souls, however, once you got to the outskirts of the city it was everything but average. Avalon Military Complex was a sprawling base, nearly half the size of the town and home to 100,000 military personal, it also housed the headquarters of the 3rd Naval Armada and the Office of Military and National Intelligence (OMNI). Not so average now.

Brigader General Bradley Marcias was rifling through a pile of papers, 'More work over that damned Macabee/Safe Haven war, seems like Questers went on the offensive.' he thought. He took a sip of his coffee only to nearly spit it out, 'Damn f*ckers know I like my coffee black, not with cream.'

As he placed his stack of files down and was about to open his desk drawer he heard a knock on the door, 'Damn, don't people realize I have work to do...' he thought as he said, "Come in!"

A lone intelligence officer from the 'Rapid Crisis Response Unit', identifiable by his badge, opened the door, rapidly walked towards the desk that the Brig. Gen. was situated at and place a folder marked 'Urgent'.

Brig. Gen. Marcis raised his eyebrow at the officer he now recognized as a captain. He opened the folder and took a look at the name tab, 'Mer des Ennuis'. He forrowed his brow and read through the report. "Oh shit, command won't like this, SSNA just sold them a bunch of ships." He said to the Captain.

"I'll get this to the president." Said Marcias as he grabbed his suitcase and rushed out the door towards the air field on the base.

[2 Hours later and 1000 miles East; Central City, CENTCOM]

"See Madame President, we had similar situations in the Red Tide and Vietanmexico so that is why we should intervine on behalf of the citizens of Mer Des Ennuis." Said Five-Star General Lance Jackson before President Kara Maddox, the other Joint Chiefs, and a few members of Congress.

Several of the Congress men and both of the Joint Chiefs nodded their heads in agreement. President Maddox looked around before speaking, "Just one last thing, what troops are we going to deploy? Our First and Second Field Armies are still in Red Tide, and the Third, Fourth, and Fifth Field Armies just arrived back from Vietnamexico a few weeks ago. Not to mention that the 3rd Armada only arrived yesterday from the RT Theater."

"The 3rd, 4th and 5th Field Armies saw absolutely no fighting and have already been requipped and resupplied, the 1st and 2nd Naval Armadas have been replaced in the RT theater by the 4th and 5th, so they have been patched up." Said General of the Army Lance Jackson, then another voice spoke up.

"All five entities have already been mobilised by their respective commanders, while the 1st and 2nd Theater Air Commands can be sent out at a moment's notice." Responded Admiral of the Navy Michael Sutherland while General of the Air Force Marcus Cromwell nodded his approval.

President Maddox was silent in deep thought for a moment before she spoke, "Ok, you have your troops, but this shall be a 'Grey-Op', no word to the press or any non-government entity about troops movements, deny everything until I give the word, I'll contact some of our new and old allies, and those hulls at SSNA are to be confiscated."

President Maddox stood up and left the room, the other people followed her out of the room before going their seperate ways, a single message was sent out, to the small tiny, insignificant nation of Aralonia, they were a great ally during the Red Tidean Wars and the Minster of 'Nothing Better to Do' decided to send them a message for help, although it was unneeded.

---------------------------------------------------------

[Avalon Naval Base, 3 Hours Later]

The 1st and 2nd Naval Armada's, under the command of Admiral Michael Sutherland himself, had been loaded with the 3rd and 4th Theater Forces. The force was ready to depart, but the aire was strange, there was no big fanfare or celebration, but rather there was only a few familys saying bye and a grey mist hung over the harbor on this gloomy fall morning.

It was as if a veil of secrecy had decended over the whole of the operation, hopefully it would work. While the ships slowly departed port satellites through the skies of Mer de Ennuis tracking battles and trying to find the Navy's ships, they would be top priority.

[Random Ship Yards around the nation]

Swiftly and without warning Skyian Special Forces descended upon the ship yards constructing ships for the MDE navy, the ships were to be taken apart, but the government would not allot SSNA to refund the cost to MDE.

0010 hours, 150 nautical miles off of the coast of Ville de la Morte
CVN-7, Ocean Class, 2rd Carrier Battle Group
”Admiral, we’ve just received a UHF communication that an scout plane has picked up the emissions of a the 1st and 2nd National Guard fleets are within an hour and a half full steam. Orders from Naval Command are to supplement the 3rd and 5th Amphibious Assault Groups in the destruction of these fleets. ” reported a vice Admiral.
“Aye, we’ll soften them up with the alphas, and execute a low-altitude airstrike. Give the orders.”
0245 hours, 150 nautical miles off of the coast of Ville de la Morte
R-13, Princep de Austrias Class, 2rd Maritime Guard Fleet
Like most of the high ranking officers, the Admiral of the 2nd Maritime Guard Fleet, Admiral Dalibor Kamil, was attemping to sleep in his quarters. He tossed around a few times, unable to find rest. Perhaps having a two million dollar on his bounty had something to do with it, but he was safely at sea in a hundred ship strong combined fleet. He put on his slippers, sent a message to the bridge to have a cup of coffee ready, and took a short walk.
After the usual formalities and salutes, the Admiral walked over to the Captain, who was on duty.
”Couldn’t sleep tonight sir?” inquired the Captain.
”No, not sure why, just had a feeling in my gut” replied Kamil.
”Well, its been a quiet night. Fleet wide sensors haven’t picked up a thing.”
”Still, I won’t feel comfortable until after the war is over, and hopefully it will be…
The admiral was interrupted by a sudden, massive explosion that erupted from a D-32 Type 45. This was followed 3 from one of the Ticonderogas. A minute later, a pair of Oliver Hazard Perry frigates and another D32 was engulfed in massive explosions.
”Holy God in heaven…” thought the Admiral. ”Captain, launch every single goddamn sonobouy we have, and scramble all air assets we can. Call to quarters.”.

Another three darings and a pair of frigates exploded, sending their crews to a watery grave as alarms rang out on just about ever ship.
A communications officer on duty shouted ”Sirs, we just received an alert from the Type-45, it is tracking an AWACS about 400 miles away, and we think we may have located where the enemy is on long range sensors. And sir... we have incoming missiles”.
”Send the order, fire at will. Prepare for impact.” ordered Adm. Kamil.
The remaining five Ticonderogas and the fleet’s six Arleigh Burkes fired off a chain of Harpoons and Tomahawks. Their phalanx systems, while reasonably effective, were unable to fire fast enough. The three ticonderogas and three arleigh burkes were hit in multiple locations, and sank. The centerpieces of the large fleet; the four Princep de Austrias carriers and 6 Wasp Class Amphibious Assault Ships were not exposed to line of sight fire. The total time passed was 15 minutes from the initial submarine attack

The three alpha classes, undetected as of yet, sank the last daring and another four frigates as they left the confines of the enemy carrier group. The three ravager class battleships, stealthy as they were, were not successfully detected and identified as threats. Their air compliment joined the large number of GF-002 Blizzards sent from the lone Ocean class. Using targeting data from the Exodus satellite observing the battle, they fired.

The bridge of the R-13 was in total chaos. The 80 ships left in the fleet were constantly bombarding the Admiral with orders, and aircraft had established a perimeter.
”We have a major ship gap to our port side, reposition what ever we can to absorb more shots” ordered Adm. Kamil.
”Sir! The fighters are reporting incoming aircraft and missile fire! 15 seconds until impact!” shouted another officer.

172 Blizzards, flying close to the ocean easily targeted the majority of the Joint Strike Fighters, and launched three bursts of LRAAMs. Sensing that impact was close, fourty of the F-35 pilots bailed into the sea. The Blizzards up their speed to above-mach levels and engaged in a bombing run, crippling what remained of the air defences of the fleet. Almost immideatly after, the bridge of the R-14 Princep Class collapsed, suffering a direct hit from a 27” shell.

”The day is lost. Broadcast a surrender signal on all open channels. May God help us.”

The sun is rising, it’s beautiful. thought Admiral Dalibor Kamil, a heavy chain tied around his waist. A voice read out:
“Admiral Dalibor Kamil, you have been found guilty of the charges of treason, dereliction of duty, conspiracy to commit treason, and piracy on the high seas. The penalty is death. Because you have not resisted, High Command has deemed you worthy to be executed with honor by keel hauling. God Speed.”
Beautiful…

When the chain was pulled back, there was nothing left.

0845, Mer de Noms, Office of the Arch Arsonist
Carpathia Ziemowit, the Arch Arsonist, sat in front of a camera in his office. He was about to deliver a speech that would be broadcast over every single radio, loudspeaker, and TV station across the nation. His analysts told him that 95% of the population capable of listening would be listening, if not more. Like most speeches, he read off of a telepromter, though he felt free to stray if the muse took him.
“Ok sir, we will be live in 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4” spoke the producer before motioning the remaining 3
“My fellow citizens, Today is a glorious day for our republic. The Mer des Ennuis Home Guard Central Command has been pacified, and early this morning, in a daring assault, destroyed and captured the Maritime Guard 1st and 2nd fleets, with almost no loss of life on their behalf.
It is necessary for the stability of our republic that we dispatch the traitors in our midst who seek to undermine our collective efforts. This applies to those in the Homeguard, who have betrayed our trust and faith, and have dishonored the blood spilled by their honorable forerunners. The death and destruction they have inflicted, while small, still warrants death. I have talked with my advisers, and I have chosen to exercise section 6 of the Mer des Ennuis Uniform Code of Military Justice, and am sentencing any officers above the rank of major in the 18 subdued divisions. Furthermore, all infantry soldiers in units who took up arms will be decimated, with the remaining men sent to the restricted islands for life-fire exercises. Thank you for listening, that is all.”

0900, Mer de Noms, 18th Street and Center
Menachem Solly had woken up, taken a quick shower, threw on a cheap suit, slung his M16 on his shoulder, and walked to work as he usually did. He had just reached the intersection of 18th and Center, when he turned, and saw a large gathering. There were over a hundred soldiers of the Mer des Ennusian Army at attention, arms drawn, and a few tanks. At the top of the podium where the Arsonist occasionally made speeches was a large scaffold, a number of half-naked men, and several men in full dress uniforms. He shuffled into the now quiet crowd. One of the well-dressed man, pulled out a scroll, unrolled it, and read aloud.
“By order of the Arch Arsonist and the People of Mer des Ennuis, you, Lieutenant General Snorri Eysteinn, have been charged with dereliction of duty, treason, cowardice, rebellion, conspiracy to commit treason, and conduct unbecoming of an officer. You have been found guilty, and have been sentenced to death.”
It was at this point that Menachem saw that this Eysteinn was badly beaten. He was dragged to the scaffold. One of the soldiers shot him in the kneecap, and beat his other leg out from under him. The disgraced general screamed out in pain, but no one took heed. He was lifted up by his feet, his arms hanging limp, screaming the entire time. One of the soldiers bludgeoned him in the face with a rifle stock.
Menachem stared in horror as the general was flayed, then disembowled with a small knife and lit on fire. He felt as if the screams would haunt him for life. He turned towards the nearest street. Prison laborers were reverse hanging guardsmen chosen to be executed on lamp posts. Some were long dead, having bled out from their wounds, while others were still screaming.
”Oh dear God.” he thought.

The travel to the warehouse from the office was not an easy one. The fighting in the south is almost nothing but there were National guardsmen with local police force patrolling the street. Making it hard for the twenty Dominionites in each office to get to where their guns are at. The plan was to divide into five man units called Wolf Packs. They would move at right as the sun goes down. The fact that they had stored all black jump suit and ski-mask at the office, make easy to not be seen at night.

One minute after the sun has gone down, the first Wolf Pack left the office in Ville d'Espoir. At the same time, the first Wolf Packs of Ville de Bruit and Villi de la Vie were leaving. It would take them two hours to get to the warehouse on the edge of the cities. Two hours of hiding in trash bin, hiding in dark alleys, dodging the patrolling unit. Just two hours were you can’t stop and take breath of fresh air without looking over your left shoulder. Those two hours were just for the first set of Wolf Packs. There are three more sets of them at each office.

Right as the sun comes up, the last set of the Wolf Packs arrive at the warehouse. They get water and a quick bite of food before getting suited up for combat.

Wilmington Naval Base; Admiral James T. Garin's personal office; 0300 hours]

Admiral Garin was sitting at his desk sipping tea and sorting out the days logistical reports when his computer told him he had an urgent message from Fleet Admiral Braun. 'Oh boy,' he thought, 'just one more thing to worry about.' Previously the night before, several containers of rations were mixed up with a few ammunition containers and it had been plaguing him all day.

Garin sighed as he opened up the secured email

---------------------------------------------------
To: Admiral James T. Garin
From: Fleet Admiral Braun.
Subject: Urgent Orders – Priority One

Admiral Garin, you may or may not have already herd about the situation in Mer Des Ennuis. If you have not, I suggest you contact Commodore Cole and retrieve the information from him.

We have received a message from The Silver Sky asking for Akavarian assistance in the Mer Des Ennuis area. Your orders are to take your own 4th battlegroup, the 5th commanded by Admiral Berg, the 7th commanded by Admiral Muller, and the 11th commanded by Admiral Roth and form the “Stacked Deck” battlegroup in honor of you flagship; 'Ace of Spades'. Then you are to hook up with their combined fleet at the provided coordinates and assist them in establishing Naval and Air supremacy in the area.

The 2nd Expeditionary Force is mobilizing but is not being rushed as we want full control of the sea and sky around Mer Des Ennuis before any land invasion begins.

This is a Gray-Op Admiral, nothing is going to be stated publicly untill the time is right. Make sure noone that doesn't need to know, doesn't.

Good Luck, and Good Hunting
~Admiral Braun
---------------------------------------------------

“Mer Des Ennuis eh?” though Garin out loud, “Haven't been in that region for a while.”

[The next day aboard the NAS Ace of Spades, Flagship of the “Stacked Deck”; 0800 hours]

“Are all ships fueled and out of dock Captain?” asked General Garin. The 60 ships of the 4th battlegroup were to head out of their port of call and form up with the rest of the “Stacked Deck.” From then on it was a rendezvous with the Silver Sky fleet and onto Mer Des Ennuis.

“All ships are reporting ready to go underway Admiral.” spoke Captain Weber. He was the Captain of the NAS Ace of Spades, the Flagship of the 4th battlegroup, and now the “Stacked Deck.” It was a prestigious job, considering that the 4th was one of the nation's best naval units.

“Okay then Captain. Take us out.

[29 hours later; The “Stacked Deck” Battlegroup; 1300 hours]

After successfully forming up, the new battlegroup then linked up with the Sliver Sky forces at a preset coordinate. Admiral Garin requested to come aboard the the Sliver Sky flagship in order to discuss the battleplan in Mer Des Ennuis.

“Silver Sky Fleet, this is Admiral James T. Garvin, commaning officer of the “Stacked Deck” battlegroup, I am requesting permission to come aboard your flagship in order to discuss matters at hand and to extend a hand in assisting your forces in Mer Des Ennuis.” spoke the Admiral in a video massage to TSS fleet.

The "Stacked Deck" battlegroup consists of the following:

4 ArchBishop-Class BBNs
8 Bishop-Cass-BBNs

[THE OCTAGON, NEW SARIS, ARALONIA]

“We have a message from the President Kara Maddox of the nation of The Silver Sky, sir.” One of the secretaries – a rather attractive one at that – contacted the Archon in his office.

“Very well, patch it through.” The Archon looked up at the screen on the other side of the room, changing from a schematic of the latest design that would take at least ten more years to fully complete to an datanet-based mail client.

The Archon blinked. Minister of Nothing Better to Do? Amusing how they mock us. Nonetheless! This would be another grand opportunity for the otherwise small nation of Aralonia to prove that it has the capability to deal blows with the other great nations!

Hopkins sighed and opened up a reply message, stating the help that they would be able give, including a layout of the Third Expeditionary Fleet that would be dispatched.

“Miss Yeo? Call a staff meeting. I would like to discuss this upcoming war with the national military leaders. Afterwards, I would also like to dispatch a message to the people.” The Archon leaned back in his seat. Things were going to get hot again.

[FLEET MOORING, NEW SARIS HARBOUR]

Vice Admiral Hawking sighed. After all that crap with Kubra, he was beginning to question what exactly was going on in this new world that Aralonia, his nation, was just introduced to. Granted, the Red Tide conflict was tough on both him and his nation, losing so many ships to those blasted mines.

“Sir!” The same ensign that's been following Hawking around for the last couple of combat tours skidded into the room in a quite familiar fashion. Nothing changed, from being aboard the old [i]Harbinger to this new, much larger ship, the Norien Elson.

“What is it?” Hawking turned from his cup of coffee and reading on these radically huge ships that just about every navy and their mother possessed. Except, that is, Aralonia.

“We've been redispatched, sir. All the data's in the stick, sir.” The ensign handed over a classic manila folder, though inside was a definitely new-technology USB drive.

Hawking sighed and opened up the files on the drive, opening up a document straight from the Archon himself. That didn't happen too often.

Mer des Ennuis. Population: 670 million. Current status: Totally blown to hell. “Spool the reactors, contact the fleet, form up 300 miles off the coastline. Time to head out.”

[0935 Hours; 4993km East, Northeast of MdE; MdE Expeditionary Fleet [1st and 2nd Naval Armadas]]

The fleet had been held up for a few hours because the transports had been recalled, it was seen as too great a risk to have a large amount of heavily ladened troops transports around near enemy Ravager's, the 3rd Armada would escort them once naval and air superiority had been established.

But despite the delay the fleet made good time, covering 800km in only 16 hours time, the escorts had been dispatched in there usual circular-ring pattern with the Ravager's taking up positions just behind them. CAPs were over the fleet at all times, but only the AWACs operated their radar in active mode, the rest of the planes just received updates from the AWACs.

Although it seemed as if the entire fleet knew what they were going to do they didn't, only Admiral of the Navy, Michael Sutherland and the captains of the carriers and Ravagers in the fleet knew. All the other people knew was that they were going to link up with their Aralonian and Akavarian allies sometime within the next 24 hours.

But first, some fireworks.

[Comona Island Chain, Sand Island Air Force Base; 'Operation: Four Hammers']

Plane after plane after plane was taking off from the runways to join their comrades in the clear sky. 384 B-300C 'Hurricane' Heavy Supersonic Strategic Bombers had been enlisted from the 5th Tactical Air Command for decapitating strikes against the MdE fleet. Satellite recon had pinpointed and were tracking the location of the MdE Active Navy's Fleets, which was made fairly easy because of the sheer size of Ravager's and their massive wake trails.

Joining the B-300Cs enroute would be 408 F-620 "Xeon" Air Superiority Fighters to ward off any of the technologically inferior fighters they were sure the enemy had.

After the B-300Cs had reached combat altitude they departed for the fleet at their cruising speed of Mach 1.2, they would cover the distance to the fleet in little over an hour.

Each of the B-300C's were armed with 53 AGM-101LR Fireblast Long Range Anti-Ship Missiles for a total of 20,352 missiles hanging in the bays of the 384 aircraft. Upon arriving at the 1000km mark they would split into teams of 4 and hunt down their adversaries.

The MdE had all the ingredenats for a strong navy, except for one, weapons, althought they had the Skyian Ships they did not have the Skyian missiles that made the ships a force to reckon with, they most importantly lacked the weapons to protect themselves from long range missile strikes.

[High Earth Orbit Above Mer des Ennuis; EADF Constellation 0042; 'Operation Star Dust']

Since the start of the civil war a few days ago Skyian Satellites had been tracking MdE satellite transmissions. It had been fairly easy to find the locations of the satellites through the use of the Orbital ELINT Network (OEN).

It was named top priority to knock out any MdE satellites, especially those with RADAR LIDAR/LADAR or optical systems. This job was given to the weapons of the Exo-Atmospheric Defence Force, orginally created to deploy 'Brilliant Pebbles' and other weapons against Ballistic Missile, Satellite, or other orbital weapon strikes, it's mission was expanded to the offensive actions against enemy targets, both orbital and ground based targets.

Quickly the EADF jumped in action, the already known MdE satellites were targeted by 'Brilliant Pebbles' KE missiles. These missiles descended out of high orbit, above where MdE satellites were to be most likely looking for threats. Thousands of these weapons descended from the heavens, all with the objective of reducing the MdE orbital network to no more then space junk. Each missile came in at Mach 14, four to a satellite was the game of the day.

As the 'Brilliant Pebbles' neared their targest twp other weapons, with even deadlier intent made themselves known. First came to the 'Thor' KE weapons, these deadly KE weapons were forged of tungsten on the outside and heat resistant ceramics encasing an delayed penetrating HE warhead.

The rods were .5m in diameter and 4m in height and weighed in at nearly 90,714kg, they would impact at Mach 16 with 240Mj (240,386,800 joules) of energy, they would penetrate into the ground before their large HE warhead went off blasting the ground around it into the air.

Twenty of the 'Thor' satellites were targeting enemy airfields and important MdE government buildings in an attempt to keep the MdE air force from getting off the ground by hitting airfields at intervals that would render them useless to even STVOL craft and to cut it's government off at the head, each satellites carried 36 rods. The second weapons were satellites equipped with MIRV warheads, designed to come in at Mach 20 they would deliever a conventional warhead equipped with 2000kg of ONC, 2.7 times more powerful then TNT. Again there were 20 such satellites but they each carried 76 of these poweful weapons, and they were targeted at army, air, and naval bases, supply depots (both ammo and fuel), large formations of troops, orbital launch facilities, OTH radar, and other large RADAR installations, especially those used for tracking satellites.

720 Thors and 1440 MIRVs descended from orbit onto MdE in hopes of causing as much havoc as possible, with only two minutes of response time to each they would have the element of surprise.

This was all done without MdE ever finding out who had done it. Hopefully it would stay that way. At least for a while.

Willink

Field General Stephen Oak was a man of pride. His father was a leading general in the first VSI conflict against Parthia and RB, and his brother was a leading Admiral in the Willinkian naval force. He had grown up wealthy, but often missed school and was in trouble with the law.

His father finally grew tired of him, and he was sent to military school, in which he took a break to decide what he really wanted to do with his life. He turned over a new leaf, scoring very high in all of his classes, before moving on to a RMOS were he graduated in the top of his class. From there he joined the army at the rank of Captain, before rising up the ranks over 12 years and becoming a Field General.

Now he spent his days on a small military outpost 82km away from Island City in VSI. He sat inside his small pup tent, reading over emails from his family and friends on his laptop. A small portable heater kept the tent warm, and two small lights lit it. As he began to shut the laptop a soldier called out from nearby.

"Sir, there is a message for you out here on the Com uplink."

He got up from his bed and stepped outside. The sky was a dreary gray, as always, and a small drizzle was falling overhead. 2 EF-100's flew overhead, the roar of the engines surprising him to the point he nearly slipped on the muddy grass. He walked over to the Communication station, as the soldier from before walked back to his post near a 105mm self-propelled gun. He picked up the bases SMS and read the message.

"Field General Oak, you and your unit are to report to Al Sara tomorrow. You are being redeployed to Mer Des Ennuis."

This message (Variants of it at least) were being sent to forces all around Willink, as they mobilized to defend Mer Des Ennuis against invaders, and in some instances, their own people. Over 2.5 Million men had been called upon in the first mobilization in 4 1/2 years. From all over Willink and her colonies, soldiers were reporting to air and naval bases, boarding ships and transport planes, from were they would fly or sail to reinforced government held cities and positions.

WNF-Victor, Ortega class Nuclear Attack Submarine, Bentley Islands

"Descend to 35 meters."

"Descending...10...15..20.....30...35 meters, decent complete."

"Put her in silent, and torpedoes on standby."

"Alright, silent in 3..2..1..Okay silent mode, torps on the ready."

The submarine sat 250km off the coast of Mer Des Ennuis, and at moments notice could be mobilized to attack. Carrying 32 "Hammer horn" supersonic Cruise missiles and 18 torpedoes, she could cripple or bombard small to moderate fleets and land positions on her own in relative secrecy, being able to fire her weapons while deep underwater.

OOC-Sorry for such a short post, I am going out of town and I really need to get to sleep. I will be back Tuesday; by then I will assume my forces have made it.

Brigader General Bradley Marcias was rifling through a pile of papers, 'More work over that damned Macabee/Safe Haven war, seems like Questers went on the offensive.'

OOC; Link to get involved?
IC: The Federacy government wishes to get involved with protest coming from the corporations, obviously it is hard to sell inventory that isn't going to be stolen or burned during civil wars, of the enviroment. With that Moorington hates to see traditional governments toppled and is awaiting the go ahead of the Mer des Ennuis government so that military forces can quell the rebellion before it gets a foothold, or worse yet external help.

OOC: TSS, isn't it just a tad bit godmoddish to say you took out every single one of my satelites, and managed to launch, via satelite, rods from god on every single one of my airfields? This really should have been asked about first over IRC/the planning thread. That being said, I just got home from a long weekend, and i'll do a longer IC post in the next day or two. I'm not sure about you guys, but as far as I can tell, my military isn't just sitting still; i'll have to retcon in the fall of a few cities (what competent leader would sit still for 5 days when there is conquering to be had?) That being said, the powers involved might want to, you know, contact the appropriate party?

0500 Hours, High Council Offices, Beta Aurigae City, Beta Aurigae VII

The sun rose majestically over the buildings of the capital city casting it in the warm glow of peace and warmth. Inside the High Councilor's office, the mood was much the same. As the first morning rays poked through the windows, Klev Kisharn rose from his meditation, walked to his desk and picked up the first report of the day.

Ten minutes into this exercise, Kisharn, with his brain on screensaver by this point, was just wondering what he was going to have for breakfast and whether that wonderfully attractive secretary would be in the dining hall again this morning, when he was jolted from his thoughts by the soft burring of one of the three telephones on his desk. Gratefully setting the file down, he picked up the phone.

"Kisharn here," he said dully into the reciever.

"Sir, this is General Yarborn from Strategic Operations, we may have a situation here," came a voice in return.

Damn, thought Kisharn. I was really looking forward to breakfast too. "Who does it involve exactly General?"

"Well, I don't know if you read the report yet sir, but it involves the rebellion in Mer des Ennuis."

"Yes, I saw that report yesterday. The recommendation was to stay out of the conflict at this time. However, were we to get involved at a later date, our best interest would be to help out the rebels."

"The situation has changed sir," replied the General. "As you are aware, our intelligence section watches potential conflicts more closely as they escalate, and this conflict has escalated quick. As of now, the lawful government of Mer des Ennuis has recieved extensive aid from a few foreign nations and without some type of intervention, the rebels will be defeated quickly and decisively. I recommend that we send any form of aid that we can to put the rebels in power. If we allow this rebellion to go down the drain, it would be a disaster from a political and military perspective."

"I will take it under advisement General, you can expect a decision by the council within the hour."

"Thank you sir."

"In the meantime General, mobilize what forces you think are necessary so that they are ready to go if we decide to continue on this course."

"Yes sir, mobilization will take about twelve hours and then we should be able to get moving."

Hanging up the phone, Kisharn picked up another one and called out to his secretary, "Madeline, assemble the rest of the council and have the kitchen staff send us some breakfast please."

With that, he strode from his office smiling at his secretary on the way out and into the hallway.

Three minutes later, he was seated in the chamber working on coffee and toast while the rest of the council read the report. In a few minutes the debate would begin. Kisharn settled back in he chair as he began to eat through his omelette and second cup of coffee to watch the fireworks.

Four hours, thrity-seven minutes and twelve seconds later, the council had reached it's decision, they would help the rebels. Immediatly, a message was sent to the site of the intercepted rebel transmission from which they had announced their rebellion.

(I apologize that this isn’t as detailed as I’d like it, I’m in the process of getting ready to go to Vermont for the next 5 or 6 days, and don’t have much time. It won’t be horribly detailed as I would like it, but it will have the same effect.)
The 3rd Day, 0600

It was the 3rd day of the rebellion, and the vital shipping lanes of Les Trois Villes had to be opened up. Considered one of the most important shipping lanes, one of the national guard fleets was present, although softened up by repeated submarine and missile assault. There were six divisions of fortified guardsmen present. Though they only had two days to prepare for the eventual counter attack, they only needed that much to construct area denial minefields, designed to slow and potentially prevent armored and mechanized spearheads; the bread and butter of the Mer des Ennuisian land force. However, the government held air superiority and had stronger naval assets. At 0600 local time, a combined fleet of three amphibious assault groups and two carrier battle groups which had been volleying Khan class missiles and claymore missiles, moved into the now emptied waters of the Les Trois Villes channel. Out of range by at least 20 kilometers of anything the national guardsmen could hope to fire, they began shelling known hardened locations. Bomber support was unavailable due to active S-400 mk2 missile sites, that were too valuable to lose.

The 3rd Day, 0800
The 11th army, composed of the 21st and the 22nd corps, was charged with taking back the three islands. Though the four light divisions that would be needed for peace keeping would not see major combat operations, the eight mechanized divisions and four armored divisions would. Although the guardsmen had ZSU-23-4 Shilkas, they were still vulnerable to UCAV strikes and extremely low-flying assault helicopters. The outer reaches of the minefields the guardsmen had set up were breached by mine clearing line charges, followed by grizzly breachers leading a tank spearhead. Mechanized infantry would follow them up, while air assault divisions would flank from the sea, as well as supplement divisional air cover.
The guardsmen fought a brave, losing battle. Although they were heavily armed, they were just overwhelmed by the sheer number of trained men. Eight battalions of guardsmen, nearly a quarter of the forces present in the southernmost city center, surrendered after a mere hour, costing the 11th 10 mechanized battalions from javelin fire, and lost several transport units to star streak fire. A successful amphibious landing was made on the island housing the majority of heavy industry for Les Trois Villes, and took lighter casualties due to intensive naval bombardment. By order of the Arch Arsonist himself, any man who surrendered would be spared execution.

The 4th Day
The 4th day was a day of very little fighting. Combat assets were rapidly gearing up for another string of assaults, while the navy further consolidated its hold on shipping lanes. Power to most of the north and south was taken out by airstrikes, though few people were killed.

Mer Des Ennuis Naval Command, Mer de Noms
“Sir, we have a contact off the coast of Porte de l’Este at the sonobouy line. We are guessing it is a missile sub.”
“Hmmm, dispatch a pair of SSN-22’s to investigate. When they get within range, send a VHF communication to them. Lets hope they aren’t hostile.”

The 5th Day
0935
(OOC: don’t have time to write an RP for this one, I’ll just describe the hits. My naval fleets are all within close range of the shore, making it impractical for an air strike. We’ll discuss it later TSS. If you don’t think my saving of the exodus’s are fair, lemme know, we’ll discuss, and possibly change it.)

Satelite Attack: Casualties

Mer des Ennuis operates 15 Geneticon Exodus Military Satelites. All were in the process of shifting their orbits to prepare for upcoming assaults. 13 of them detected the missile launches, and sent off extremely brief signals to receiving stations scattered throughout the country. Realizing a missile threat was imminent, they went into silent mode.

Consequently, Mer des Ennuis’s most important satellite assets were spared. However, other satellites were not so lucky, and several weather and civilian communications satellites were destroyed.

The Airfields took heavy hits. Although the KE projectiles were not the most accurate, many hit their targets, disabling the long landing fields required to launch many of Mer des Ennuis’s strategic bombers. Several National Guard airfields were inadvertently hit as well.

The Mirvs were a different story. Moving at mach 20, they fell in to the interceptable range of the TELAR systems designed to protect all cities from threats. At 36 missiles to a city garrison launched from 9 TELARs, 936 missiles were in the air within a minute. However, ballistic missiles were much harder to target than cruise missiles. 702 missiles were successfully taken out, still leaving 738 relatively inaccurate missiles falling from the sky, mostly targeted at the cities of the central region. 95% hit targets, though only a few were actual military targets. The main phased dopplar array radar was hit, but suffered no performance degredation, since it was spread out over an area greater than a square mile. Several fuel and ammunition depots were indirectly hit, and suffered little damage due to heavy blast walls. Few batallions took direct hits, as they were sheltered by reinforced buildings.

As much of a benefit as the attack was, it would do more harm to the guardsmen cause. The Mer des Ennuis Grand Central Hospital in the city of Mer de Noms took a direct hit, causing a partial collapse of the eastern wall, killing over a thousand patients. In Le Garde Porte, a civilian oil depot was hit, cutting off oil from the city for at least a day. In Ville de Deplorement, The fortress-like Cathedral of St. John Newman was struck above the sanctuary. With only a thousand military deaths compared to many civilian casualties, the populance at large would be irate.

Coming down the ramp of the G222 the soldiers dispersed to their proper points and set about getting back into proper companies and whatnot while captins and NCOs yelled and kicked the men into proper order.

The heat was unbearable to the cool climate oriented Moors, quite dry to. As the men basked in the dry heat more men unloaded, taling in their throaty amicable way Moorish soldiers unloaded more planes for ammo and supplies with Sherman Light Tank crews milled around guidlessly with no idea where thier Sherman was.

Crown Prince looked this al over and was severly disappointed at how far the Danube had not come. This was actually quite ecxiting to all of the pen pushers at the Mori Shakem but for him is was all quite depressing seeing his great Danube fill in drop by drop without the sorely needed heavy transport craft.

Admiral Sutherland watched the message before opening a secure satellite video comm link with the Akavarian battlegroup.

"This is Admiral of The Navy Michael R. Sutherland of the Silver Sky Republican Navy's Mer Des Ennuis Expeditionary Fleet, your request is granted, please procced to the SSRN 'Hyperion', a landing pad will be cleared for you.

Admiral Sutherland opened up another window on his holographic projection display, this time it was real time radar feed of the massive air armada over head. They were the ones launched from the Sand Island Air Force Base, they were currently refueling.

'Operation Four Hammers' had been delayed until plans were discussed in more detail. However, no matter, the Navy of MdE would be no more then a bunch of inflateable life rafts soon enough.

We thank you for your offer of aid. Our situation is dire and our allies, until now, are nonexistant. We are confirming your offer of support. We believe the north will be shortly lost, though Ville de Dieu and Ville de Deplorent are expected to be lost in two weeks with out substantial support that we cannot easily provide. We are consolidating our southern forces around Ville d'Espoir and Mer de Ville d'Ennuis. We regretably cannot offer the locations of enemy maritime forces, though we believe they are going to attack Passage au Nord, Bastion d'Acier, and Port de l'Est. Everything was prepared, the troops were moved to various airforce bases throughout the country where they would wait for the signal from the fleet to board the thousands of transport aircraft and fly towards Mer des Ennuis. The only thing that remained was to recieve word from the rebels.

1500 Hours, High Council Offices, Beta Aurigae City, Beta Aurigae VII

The call had come through from the cipher offices about ten minutes ago, they had received a message from the rebels on Mer des Ennuis. Kisharn had immediatly contacted Yarborn to meet him in the cipher center ASAP. Now they stood next to the cipher clerk as he ran the message through the decoding process.

"There you are councilor," the man said as he produced a page that had just printed from the computer.

Kisharn grabbed the sheet and read through it quickly. Then he handed it over the Yarborn who did likewise.

"You have permission to move General. I leave the decisions to you, keep me apprised of the situation."

"Yes sir," said Yarborn as he hurried from the room to meet contact the commanders.

1530 Hours, RSS Kilburn, Aurigean 8th Fleet

"Admiral, we have recieved word that we are to attack Bastion d'Acier to draw the enemy's navy and airforce attention towards us and away from the southern portion of Mer des Ennuis."

"Very well, inform the General that it will take us three days to reach Bastion d'Acier. We will contact him when we have reached contact distance with the enemy. He may send then send the troops in."

"Aye sir."

Then turning to navigations, the Admiral gave the order for the fleet to get underway.

OOC: Sorry for the horrible post guys, I was pretty rushed. Anyway, I'll post the naval battle and troop landing at some point tomorrow.
