The Knights of the Vash Order's troops lined the square in the centre of the monolithic town which spanned over half of the world, dominated by the political centre, and more importantly the central temple. The concrete boxed in its citizens, living under the government and fear of religion, huge concrete buildings grew daily from the ground and blocked out the blood red sky above.
The world itself was vast, harsh and desolate, hot all over with little sign of life apart from the citizens themselves. The landscape was marred with a hint of death, made apparent by the carrion creatures roaming the landscape feeding on the deceased. Such animals were feared by the general populace, hoping they themselves would not turn into their next meal. Such fear arose that a religious sect emerged which killed people during the night and dragged them out to keep such creatures happy. Now the main enemy of The Religious Order, the government and everything executive, it is largely non-existant, but some small pockets exist. These are routed out by The Religous Order and destroyed with extreme and deadly force.
Such is the power of The Religious Order it's guards have become military and police, all of which are deeply religious; its higher members are the most religious and usually religious leaders; the citizens are forced to be aligned under such religion or face heavy penalties; sacrifice for the Gods is made law; and there is slight resentment for 'the misguided', or non believers. The misguided are treated harshly, usually fatally. Those outside of The Religious Order's sphere of influence are merely preached to and advised to change ways.
At the height of government orders are passed down, religious minded and actively enforced by the Knights of the Religious Order, protectorate and everything of The Religious Order.
It was a new dawn, the huge space fleet was now assembled and drifting between out in space awaiting the last ships. The sheer size of the force was uncomprehensible, visible from the ground if you could strain your neck to see beyond the buildings. It was for the sole purpose of increasing the sphere of influence The Religious Order had.
The troops within the huge square were armed and ready, their swords were by their sides and seemingly ancient armour, inscribed with various designs and equipped with a central 'rune plate', worn. They were perfectly still and praying for success in their mission.
The Gods would deliver them success and give them immense strength for their task they were to undertake. The new age had begun, the age of space travel.
