Life as the pilot in a radar zeppelin was... boring to say the least. After the initial excitement of seeing the lush forests, rolling plains, and roiling seas of his homeland from the air, it had rapidly settled down to mind numbing tedium.

Gerald turned the page of his book. At least it was better than being radar man. He could distract his mind, while poor Errik had to stare continously at the radar screen, just in case.

Gerald shrugged. After the Old Aesonics had arrived, showing the stark contrast between New Aeson's technology level and the rest of the world, it had become clear that an invasion could happen soon. After all, New Aeson's resources were nowhere near as thoroughly exploited as most of the rest of the world's.

Hence the radar zeppelin pickets around the coasts. Gerald glanced at the timepiece and announced, "All right, I'll take the radar. Mannius, get up here and take controls."

Mannius looked up from his game of solitaire and joined Gerald at the controls. Gerald headed over to the radar station.

The Lightnings flew in, screaming through the air at super-sonic speeds, their missiles already locked onto Aesonic flyers. They held their fire for a moment, even though they were pretty sure that the zeppelins couldn't have done a thing even if they had fired as soon as they had locked.
The big super-heavy air transports were coming in behind, carrying Janissary para-troopers, who would soon be landing... as soon as the enemy air cover had been delt with.
Still, because there was a sizeable liberal faction in the High Command, even if it had been mostly discredited by the treacherous attack that had been the response to their offers of peace, an offer was broadcast:
"We are the Undershi. We are here for your resources. Surrender to our overwhelming technological supperiority and you will be treated accoarding to the Geneva Conventions." They would wait and see what that led to before they began shooting...

"Sir?" Said the gunner.

"Geneva convention?" Asked the copilot of the pilot, "What the hell is the Geneva convention?"

"How many are there?"

The radarman looked up and said...

OOC: Well, I suppose that turnabout is fair play. Anyways, I normally am, but I made the mistake of pissing off Kraven and he turned my nation into a sheet of glass. I found this convenient island with a culture very similar to my own, but less technologically advanced, and I'm updating them. The idea is, he saw these people before I started updating them, and he's probably wondering where the hell all theses zeppelins came from...

The Lightning fighters had been assigned by a nervous major of the air force who had paniced to see the red "enemy" symbols in the air, when he had expected to see none of them, and to have as his greatest concern the coordination of bombing missions. In a panic, he had sent a whole squadron, 12 super-sonic fighters, to engage each zeppelin.
As they neared, the not-so-calm voice on the radio began reciting the terms to which they would surrender - they would be fed, they would be housed, they would be given medical attention if they needed it, they would not be tortured, and so on.
At the same time, the Lightnings, shinning spears of metal, bringing with them promises of death, came roaring in to attack, if their targets did not surrender.
At the same time, Janissary paratroopers held tightly to their harnesses and prepared to be dropped onto the single largest urban center... as Thunderer fighter-bombers moved in to conduct preliminatry bombardments.
So far, not one shot had been fired, but, as troop ships neared the shore, supported by destroyers (eight troop ships, four destroyers), that situation seemed unlikely to last.

OOC: Not gonna have an easy time dropping people into the Capitol. That's where I keep my Heavy Air Support Zeppelin. Oh, also, is that 12 planes per zeppelin around the entire island, or just that one zeppelin?

IC: "All fighters, scramble. I repeat, all fighters, scramble."

The Valkyrie fighters took off quickly. Several of them started flying combat air patrols around major cities. The rest flew towards the Undershi incursion.
***
The radioman pressed his headset into his ear briefly, and then nodded. "We have an okay to fire. Let's give the bastards a surprise!"

The two AAM (Anti air missile) launchers fired, each at a seperate target, as the entire crew murmurred prayers. As soon as possible, two more missiles were fired.
***
Over the Holy Capitol, there were currently three Air support Zeppelins, as well as one Heavy Air Support Zeppelin. In addition, there were quite a number of Valkyrie fighters, to say nothing of the AA guns and SAM sites in the city.

OOC: That's twelve-per-spotted-zeppelin.

As the Lightnings came flying in, they were met by something unexpected - missiles. The Lightning is a fast, deadly, fighter, with lethal weaponry and ultra high-tech defenses.
Against traditional zeppelins, they would have been like tanks shooting small children. Now, though, they were not so lucky, as they were flying straight in, as they were unprepared for such deadly counter-fire...
In the first few moments before the pilots realized what was going on, zeppelins had taken their primitive rockets, and with them smashed the pride of the Undershi Empire, took the shinning metal proof of their supremacy and shot it down, to crash and burn. Forty seven Lightning fighters were lost in that brief moment.
The Undershi response was overwhelming, missiles beyond counting fired into the zeppelins, more than enough to send each crashing to the ground ten times over.
Then came the ground based fire, and the Valkyrie fighters...dozens more Lightnings died, as did many of the huge modified Golden Eagle heavy bombers, packed full of Janissary paratroopers who never knew why it was that they died...
Within minutes, Thunderer fighter-bombers from the carrier off at sea were coming in to engage ground-based sites from high in the air, while the remaining Lightnings now dog-fought with the Valkyries, their pilots almost in shock at the sight of jet fighters when they had been suprised to see zeppelins.

In the end, unmodified Golden Eagle heavy bombers had been dispatched, to conduct high altitude bombing missions on the defenses near and in the capital - they were escorted by Lightnings, but they were still taking risks - the way needed to be cleared for the para-troopers.
Meanwhile, other, less well defended, areas are being "visited" by para-troopers, who are taking Landing Zones, securing key bridges and the like, then digging in and waiting for further reinforcement, which will arrive come morning, in the form of entire divisions of elite helicopter-based Air Infantry. Armour and so on was being landed at the beaches, and would soon be rolling up to link the already-held pockets of the countryside, smashing aside any and all opposition... or so was the plan, but few plans survive contact with the enemy, especially when the plan was made under the assumption that they would be fighting what would effectively be spear-armed savages, and those savages turned out to have fighters and rifles of their own...

OOC: Well, Jason is currently at a cease fire I think... Besides, the dogpile got him nominated for a Kraven Award.

IC: The Valkyries weren't technologically inferior, far from it. However, this was the first time the pilots were seeing combat. As a result, several made stupid mistakes and crashed to the earth within the first few minutes.

However, as an old Aesonic saying has it, combat is the best teacher, and after watching their wingmates crash and burn, the pilots learned quickly. A second wave of Valkryies was scrambled, these focusing on the bombers.

Nile crouched in a treetop, bringing his rifle up to his soldier as he watched the enemy on the bridge. There were too many for his small unit to take back the bridge, but orders were not to leave it in enemy hands.

The bridge wasn't a terribly important one as far as commerce went. A simple wooden affair. However, being the only bridge capable of bearing the weight of heavy military vehicles over that river, it was very important tactically.

One of Nile's men lifted a rocket launcher, taking careful aim at the middle of the bridge. The rocket leapt out, followed by a hail of bullets from Nile and his men, most notably the two machine guns attached to his group.

The 1st Janissary Airborne had just taken a small village, and was advancing over the wooden bridge that they had been ordered to take, when the rocket came flying in.

OOC: Janissaries aren't power armoured, like True Undershis, but they have gear every bit as good as that currently being used by the US army in Iraq, and then some, since the Undershis have a few better gadgets.

It, and the hail of fire that followed, took down the Lieutenant in command of that particular platoon, along with eight of his men. In response, the Janissaries fired wildly, sending thousands of Gauss penetrators flying into the woods, each high-velocity depleted uranium slug cutting through trees, wild life, shrubs... and men with equal ease.
A few seconds into the return fire, some mortar shells from their fire support in the village was sending shells falling onto the Aesonic skirmishers, while a trio of Crusader gun ships flew in low, preparing to put their automatic grenade launchers to good use...

Dozens of Lightnings went down too, but those nimble little flyers were all crewed by veterans of at least some combat, although most was only as air support for some conquest of a little tribe or other that still thought of the spear as an infantry weapon... still, they knew which way was up, even if they weren't used to fighting other fighters.
Thusly, the kill ratio, it was safe to say, favored them. Most of the Lightnings were able to engage the Valkyries sent to hunt the Golden Eagles, and so few got through, and those that did met unwelcome suprises, in the form of the light Air-to-Air missile armaments that were standard on all Golden Eagles. Still, as did a few dozen of the Lightnings, so too did a few of the Golden Eagles - the Valkyries got through some of the time, and when they did, they sometimes claimed kills.
The worst Undershi losses came when, in the space of a minute, three paratrooper carrying Golden Eagles were shot down, and with them the entire First Company of the 3rd Janissary Airborne.
The Aeson
28-06-2006, 03:08
The trio of Crusaders was met by five Valkyrie fighters, which swooped out of the skies towards them, guns blazing at first, and then missiles launchers, as they pulled up, and wheeled around, diving again to strafe the Janniserries.

Meanwhile, the machine gun fell silent for a moment, but began firing again, this time from a slightly different position. The rest of the fire had ceased, either because the men were dead, or because they were pulling back
Undershi
28-06-2006, 18:15
The three Crusaders were shot out of the sky with pitiful ease by even the inexperienced Valkyrie pilots, but their triumph was short lived - super-sonic Lightnings came flying in from behind them, firing Air-to-Air missiles all the way.
Meanwhile, on the ground, the Janissaries formed up and placed their Instant Fox-Hole charges, setting off those shaped charges to create a defensive position.
That done, they assumed defensive positions and waited for support to clear out their attackers, although they kept up a high rate of fire with their Gauss rifles the entire time.

The first waves of landing troops were moving cautiously onto the beaches, rolling forward in armoured units, Drake MBTs clearing the paths ahead as Viper IFVs followed up on the advance.
Where ever they met resistance, if it was a tank then it was introduced to the Gauss cannons of the Drake, (which can send their AP shells through a basic MT MBT lengthwise) while if the opposition came from infantry, then it was met with heavy Gauss-auto fire from their Anti-Infantry weapons.
The main spear-head for the drive on the capital was the elite IIS 118th Division, which had the 4th Janissary Mechanized on its left, and the 5th on its right, while the 7th Janissary Mechanized acted as a support and reserve in the middle of the "spear head" of their formation.

OOC: Can I have an overall picture of what you've deployed to New Aeson? Keep in mind it probably won't be that high considering A) you're fighting at least two other wars and B) this was supposed to be a cakewalk.

IC: A good road, reminiscint of Roman style construction, led from the beach through dense jungle. As the average rainfall there was very high, the road was the only place not too muddy to travel on with anything heavier than foot.

Meanwhile, the roads were heavily mined. Often times, the shoulder to each side of the road was also heavily mined, so that a vehicle veering off the road, risking the mud to go around the flaming hulk of another tank would itself meet the same fate. As if that wasn't enough, the resulting chaos would become the site of an ambush, with machine guns opening up on any that tried to escape the deathtraps that had been their vehicles, while everything from Molotov cocktails to bazookas were deployed against the surviving vehicles.

This being a Most Secret document, it should on no account be risked to the enemy.

Total Undershi Naval Forces:

- The carrier Lenin, its 200 air craft supported by long-range flights from the Danteri Fleet.

- The cruisers Bilboa and Custer (Both being missile heavy long-range models).

- Six destroyers, their role being escort duties for the Capital Ships and some anti-air defense. These are artillery heavy close in defense models.

- Four troop ships of the fleet.

Total Aerial Forces: (This count including such flyers as may reach The Aesonic Islands from the Danteri Fleet)

- 120 Lightning fighters based on the near carrier

- 80 Thunderer fighter-bombers, based on the near carrier

- 600 Thunderer fighter-bombers, flying long-range missions from the Danteri fleet (only about ten minutes of fight time).

- "5,000" Golden Eagle heavy intercontinental bombers (this being all such units within range).

- 15 Modified Paratrooper carriers (Golden Eagle chassi)

Total Land Forces:

- Three Divisions of Janissary Mechanized (4th, 5th and 7th)

- One Division Janissary Airborn (1st Janissary Airborn)

- One elite IIS Division (the 118th IIS Mechanized)

- One Battalion Janissary Air Infantry (1st Janissary Air Infantry)

Total Numbers (Land Forces):

- 20,000 IIS elite mechanized infantry

- 81,000 Janissaries

OOC: This might seem like a lot, but remember that every adult male True Undershi has at least some competence with weaponry, and that the Janissaries aren't getting much use, and you've got a situation where you're going to be facing one elite Division meant to roll up to the capital ASAP then leave, plus 81,000 Janissaries to do the actual fighting. These guys are tough, but not nearly as tough as the True Undershis are, and any Janissary is automatically worth less than any True Undershi - so, they are considered appropriate for this.
Also, my troops would have anti mine dozers and so on deployed, and would keep off the road, so cassualties wouldn't be that heavy - however, any IIS losses would be a bit of an embarasment...

OOC: Well, as I think I've said, the jungle is too muddy to move anything much heavier than an armed man without it bogging down in the mud. And yes, this is affecting me too. This is why I'm not ambushing your tanks with mine. So you can move troops on foot off the road, (although I don't know about powered armour) but tanks and whatnot will need to stay on the road. Also, I imagine that your antimine tractors will be prime ambush targets.

IC: Jambi was a Shadowman. He moved silently through the jungle, staying practically invisible in the shadows. His suit, with it's internal temperature control, even cloaked him from thermal sensors. But he did not plan to stay hidden for long. He left the shadows, coming into the sight of a group of Janniserries, holding his hands up in the universal gesture for 'look, I'm not carrying a big scary weapon'. Indeed, he wasn't, with the exception of the various blades concealed about his person.

"Take me to your leader," he said, completely without irony.

While you do have a lot of forces, NS doctrine is no more than 5% population (well, it was last time i was around, havent checked recently), so you've got to be running low now, unless you want to pull troops away from your home territories to persecute wars elsewhere...

Those Golden Eagles have a reeeally long range, and I was just giving every single one of them that could make it to The Aesonic Islands (or whatever this is being called) for a bombing run and still get back to their launch point. Most if not all of those bombers will not be used - they're just there in the background as a scary little reminder of Undershi power.

Drake MBTs had as standard mine clearing frames, but that hadn't helped the first few much. After three IIS tanks were lost, they just decided to tear up the entire road as they advanced, ensuring that any mines would detonate safely in front of them - even if it did slow them down.
Meanwhile, Janissaries with Gauss rifles waded through the mud on both sides of the armoured collumn, ensuring that infantry ambushes would not strike the convoy unawares.
Behind the entire advancing landing force came the Undershi Corps of Engineers, which was busy setting its own modern-stlye road over the destroyed Aesonic road, leaving behind pre-fabricated bunkers, automated sentry guns, mine fields and other defenses to ensure their line of supply, while Janissary infantry stayed behind as picket forces, stretching the Undershi forces thin but ensuring that their supply lines remained intact.

The Janissary squad looked at his armour, and seemed a bit taken back - they leveled their Gauss rifles, and nervously glanced at their sergeant, who responded to the Shadowman's request with:
"You could be a suicide bomber! Remove your armour!"
The Aeson

Jambi pulled his helmet off and rolled his eyes. He reached behind his back and fumbled with a complicated system of latches, buckles and zippers for a moment, before his armor came off, leaving him in a pair of sweatpants and a wifebeater.

"Are you convinced yet, or do I need to make like a five dollar stripper?" He asked sardonically. Even without the armour, the Shadowman stood at eight-foot seven. That was considerably taller than the average Aesonic height of about seven' six", but the southeast from which he hailed generally produced taller men and women, and Command had wanted to send one of the more physically intimidating men for a couple of reasons.

First, intelligence reported that the True Undershi had a habit of looking down at 'norms' both literally and figuratively. On the one hand, that could be an advantage, as had already been shown by the shock inspired by the radar zeppelin's missiles, and the Valkyries. On the other, he needed to be taken seriously enough for his proposal to actually be considered.

Jabari also had another factor that made him physically intimidating. As was the custom of many men in the southeast, he had foiled his teeth to points. He revealed those perfectly white, pointed teeth now as he grinned at the Jannissaries trying to figure out what to do with him.

"Alright. Step away from the gear." backing him up were the Gauss rifles of the other eight men in his squad, not counting the man carefully moving over to pick up the armour. As this all took place, the sergeant continued,
"Well, I see no need for that. We'll give you some nice clothes as soon as you let us take your old ones... you're a prisoner of the Undershi now, and that means that you listen to us, or you get shot - the Geneva conventions are for when you've been listed as having surrendered and have been handed over to a POW camp. He stepped away from the gear, keeping his hands in the air. It wouldn't do to get shot now, before he could talk to whoever was in charge.

Jabari shrugged. "Well, somehow I imagine you weren't signatory to it anyways. Now, as lovely as it's been chatting to you, I'd really like to have a word with some one a wee bit higher up in the chain of command."

The Janissaries nodded absently, and led him off to the Undershi HQ.

At The HQ:

True Undershi guards in IIS black took over the prisoner from the Janissaries, sending them back to the fighting. They led him to an interrogation room, where he was manacled to a metal chair that was bolted to the floor.
Two Imperial Internal Security soldiers with Gauss rifles remained behind, while a man in the grey of the Undershi Army entered the room. He stayed out of reach, and from his uniform's insignia, it was clear that he was someone important.
Leaning in, he asked:
"Who are you and what do you want?"
The Aeson

"My name is Jabari Mantor, although I do not expect that means anything to you. I am of the third rank of Shadowmen. My pay designation is 193285-Alpha.

As for what I want. I was sent here in order to negotiate with the leader of Undershi forces here. Am I to presume that that is you?"
Undershi
05-07-2006, 18:11
The officer nodded. then spoke:
"Yes, you are correct in that asumption. I am the Lord General in command of this theatre of operations. I assume that you have been sent to request terms for the surrender of Aesonic forces to Undershi?" as he spoke, another True Undershi, this one in the black uniform of the IIS, came through the door, carrying a black case that must have been heavy, because it took both of his hands to lift it...

"I hope you're not going to bother torturing me with that," said Jambi calmly, nodding towards the box. "That would simply be an insult to our intelligence. Do you think they would tell me anything important before sending my into the lion's den? And in any case surrender is... not quite the correct term for why I am here. Consider it more of... an agreement. You need our... what is it, in any case? Rubber? Oil? Iron? In any case, we both know that you could take it except...

Except that this is your third front. And you're losing on the other two, aren't you? So, here's the agreement. You can set up mining for whatever it is you need, but you pull out all military forces, and you use local labor. You get your raw materials, we get a boost to our economy, and neither of us is dragged down in a war we can't afford. What do you say?'

The officer in grey, that Lord General, smilled as the Shadowman spoke, and shook his head before replying:
"Undershi has never fled from a fight before. We have inflicted thousands more cassualties than we have take, and we have made new allies. However, you are right- the only reason that we are here is that we need rubber. We would be prepared to... well, to leave, if thatwas what it came to, if, and only if, you would agree to give us the rubber we need - and even then, we would have to, say, call it tribute - you give us all the rubber we need, and we leave you be without any further harm. What do you say to that?" he asked, as the IIS man opened the case on a little table in the corner, carefully turned so that the Shadowman couldn't see what was in it. He also would likely be noticing how the question of torture had been avoided...

06-07-2006, 19:36
A moment after the officer finished talking, Jambi tilted his head to one side for a moment, then nodded.

"Well, I just got word that there's a conference ongoing by GASN, about just what to do about your nation. If they decide not to take any action, what you've juggested sound... wait, rubber, right? Yeah, we've got plenty of that. Anyways, bravado aside, I don't think that we'll be calling it tribute. Now, where was I? Ah, yes. I'm rather afraid that if GASN decides to go after you, we're going to have to cancel these negotiations, and hand you your head on a platter. I've got to say, torture the negotiator, and this conversation is void either way.

So here's what I'd do in your position. We can give you the rubber you need, you leave, and consolidate your forces somewhere where you're facing less opposition. Jenshalem, perhaps? That way, you get your rubber, and you're not tied down on a third front even if the GASN decides to go after you."
The Aeson
07-07-2006, 13:05
"Oh, okay, I'm sorry. Negotiations are off. Now, I don't suppose there's any chance that you're just going to let me walk out of here, now is there?" Asked Jambi, looking directly at the Lord General with no trace of fear, or for that matter, any emotion on his face, with the exception of a slight smirk.

The Hatarian Grand Dragon Fleet was all ready on it's way to engage The enemy Fleet and Crush Undershi Naval Power and get ready for a All out Invasion of Undershi it self.

Grand Admiral Ryu looked at The Fleet she was Commanding. She was to help in the Battle against The Undershi Fleet. If The Allied Fleets blocked the enemy from escapeing, Undershi will be forced to Surender and stop his Conquests.

Meanwhile the fleet continued towards the Aeson, taging just a little bet behind Hataria. Scott could see some of Hatarias vessels with his binoculars but because there was so many, he only saw the rear of the group. After watching for a little while he noticed there was no Fleet tenders or fast combat support ships. he wondered why they didn't have any. With a fleet like that they'll burn through there supplies faster then they can blink. He then shrugged it off his mind and went back to work. While he was waiting for a situation report from the allies Scott did a little Intelligence gathering using spy Satellites. They scanned the Aeson nation searching for where the fighting was. They spotted the beachead where Undershi forces kept pouring in from and the burning hulls of the convoy as they pushed through the forest but Satellites can only do so much. They would have to wait for the situation report and to get close enough to launch predator drones.

We are not currently aware of the exact Undershi forces, but there are elite paratroopers fighting for priority targets, and a large armored column moving along a single jungle road. A large air strike on this column would be a good idea, although we are not aware of their anti-air capabilities.

Currently, we have launched a large air assault on what we believe to be the sole carrier, and support of this assault would be greatly appreciated.

The fighting is continuing, and is growing fiercer, but at the same time, an offer is being broadcast to the GASN:
Undershi will leave The Aesonic territories, they will leave Saint Rynald and they will accept peace - if the GASN agrees to reign in NSAA's intense anti-Undershi "invade and conquer them to enfore our idea of the ideal state" type actions, and to garrisson Saint Rynald in order to support the democratic Saint Rynald government against the efforts of the christian extremists who used to own the place.
However, they still insist on their right to have a military, and that they will not make territorial concessions from those areas which are "essentially Undershi"
Furthermore, a little note is attatched, warning that the Liberal 'Party' in the High Command has been all but discredited by NSAA and its refusals to negotiate on anything approaching fair terms, and that if this peace offer is refused, no more will be offered with such good terms, because the Liberals will have lost what power they still have.

The summit was on a small rocky island off the south western coast of New Aeson. The island contained an airstrip, a large amount of SAM and Anti-Ship missiles, and a conference hall.

Keene rubbed the bridge of his nose as he waited for the delegates to arrive.

Keene stood in a desert, only distantly aware of the sand carried by the sharp wind scratching his skin.

Do what you must to keep the peace little prophet

Aeson must remain strong.

The Ustian delegation made there way to the small island by C-130 transport escorted by a squadron of TSF-620B Xeons. As they closed in on the islands airstrip the transport pilot sent a message to the control tower "This is Saint Clair 1 with the Ustian delegation requesting permission to land at airstrip, please respond, over."

The Undershi delegation came in fromthe sea in three black transport helicopters, the very fact that they were totally unmarked making them out to obviously be IIS craft.
As they neared, a True Undershi voice came over the radio:
"This is IIS-47 requesting permission to land with escorts."

On Board IIS-47

The helicopter interior was done up in the same black as the exterior. Even the passangers seemed to follow the black motif - there were eight of them, and all wore the black leather storm coats of high ranking IIS officers, over black and silver dress uniforms.
The leader of the delegation was a colonel in the IIS, and he was not amused as he read over the report. Undershi should never have gotten involved in this war - he would have to do his best to see that they got out without lossing too much face... needless to say, any agreement wherein their military would be limited would be out of the question. As the helicopter flew in, some martial music began to play over the intercom. It was an Undershi song, one of the pieces that the IIS had begun to broadcast to fill dead time on the PA systems in the streets of Undershi cities... somehow, even though it was a song intended to create loyalty and a fervor of service, colonel Allen Grumman found it soothing. To its techno beat, he relaxed and mentally prepared for the conference.

"Roger control tower landing at Runway two, out." On board the C-130 was four representatives, A marine, naval and airforce officer along with Ambassador Matthew Adams who will lead the delegation. After a few minutes Saint Clair 1 touched down on runway two then came to a complete stop close to the end of the Tarmac. The back door of the transport slowly opened up and then clanged to the ground. The delegation and body guards walked off of the C-130 and then headed to the conference hall. Up above the Xeon squadron switched to combat patrol duty's along with AWACS and JSTAR aircraft and a bunch more Xeons.

Naval Fleet:
Meanwhile a rapid extraction force was put on high alert just in case talks broke down and the delegation needed to get out of there fast. Also a huge offensive operation was planned to destroy the Undershi forces positioned on The Aeson but if and only talks broke down. Hopeful that wouldn't happen.

03-08-2006, 06:36
The Undershi delegation landed, and as the helicopter rotors stopped whirring and the troop doors deployed, these men in the feared black of the IIS stepped out of their transports.
It seemed that some Undershi had meant to make a point - the guards ran through a quick threat-assesment routine, then assumed a perfectly formated parade rest, waiting on either side of the primary helicopter as the diplomatic party left their craft.
(That's 20 guards and four diplomats.)
As the lead diplomat moved to present his papers to an Aesonic official, he called out:
"Sorry about the guards! Would you like it if I ordered them to remove the magazines from their Gauss rifles? The designs of their weapons are a state secret, so they can't just hand them over to you."
Undershi
03-08-2006, 06:45
The Agent waited under the hot sun, feeling the heat of his IIS uniform = the heavy storm coat over the IIS battle-dress uniform, then the light (by True Undershi standards) armour underneath - all in all, this was not the sort of uniform meant for tropical weather...
But still, he had a job to do. As he watched, the Undershi diplomatic team walked down the troop ramp of the transport helicopter, then over towards the waiting Aesonic officials...
Mentaly he checked his knives, then considered the rifle he held in his hands, in the same manner as every other guard in the formation. He thought... and he knew that if he acted now, he would die.
Oh well.
Without so much as a grunt, he hefted the heavy Gauss rifle to his shoulder, aiming it at the lead diplomat as he walked forward...
He only got off a single round before the men to his sides had wrestled him to the ground, but he had made that round count... the diplomat was dead.

OOC: The reasons for all of this will soon become obvious...

Even as the murdered diplomat fell, the other three were denouncing the assassin, and trying to keep the summit on track. Things were going just accoarding to plan.

A Janissary lieutenant walked along the defensive lines, pausing to give words of encouragement to his men, knowing as he did that they were frightened, and that any little incident might set them off, might terminate the truce. They had been guarding a little village that the Undershis had taken, and now were sitting tight and waiting for news from the higher-ups. The worst problems that he had to worry about were caused by the simple fact that there were still civilians in the village, civilians who had been caught by the Undershi advance and prevented from fleeing. It was a disaster waiting to happen...
A shot rang out, and a single bullet entered the lieutenant's skull, exiting from the other side in a gruesome spray of blood.
Almost as he fell, one of his men was screaming:
