Overview:

Cuba in 1895 is not an independent nation and at this time the third rebellion/revolution against Spanish Rule is in progress.

Here’s a brief overview of Cuba up to their independence in 1902

The Cubans had no navy and a small “army”. Just months before the rebellion began; the U.S. captured three ships full with supplies and weapons which served as a major blow for the rebels. The Spanish greatly outnumbered the Cubans in all aspects. More importantly the Spanish could dispatch more support from surrounding islands, while the Cubans had little or no supports, for now. Later the United States would gain sympathy for Cuba and begin aiding them. In 1897 Cuba declared independence again after two years of war, with both sides taking heavy loses but overall the rebels wining the revolution. Both Spain and the Unites States reject the independence declaration. In 1899 Cuba finally receives independence following the signing of the treaty between America and Spain, ending the American-Cuban-Spanish War. For the short term America occupies Cuba and installs its own government. In 1901, the American Senate and House of Representatives passes the Cuban Constitution which is about the same as the American version. In 1902, power is turned over to Cubans, the American flag over Havana is replaced by the Cuban flag and they are finally partially free. They still however are in the American Sphere of influence.
