The Byzantines in India

The Eastern Rome
20-06-2006, 00:49
The Byzantines had fled to India and founded small communities. Around the Moghul Empire's time, during the reign of Bahadur Shah I, a man descended from the Palaeologus Dynasty rose through the ranks and took power, naming himself Demetrios I of India. He ruled the Byzantine Indian Empire and his successors successfully eliminated the British. They ruled from New Constantinople (Delhi) and they kept Orthodox Christianity which was a minority religion in India. The Byzantine Indian Empire was neutral in World War I and II. It does have good relations with the British.

The BIE ruled over Burma and Tibet, though Singapore and others around it were held by the British. The BIE fought the Chinese in Tibet and won, it was the Tibetan War (lasted somewhat as long as the real life Chinese-Tibetan War did).

The current Emperor of India is Emperor Manuel who reigns from Delhi. The Emperor rules as an absolute monarch. He hopes for a good reign for himself in India.

OOC-I am a newbie to NS. Can anyone show me around? I hope my version of India is reasonable.
