The Arab Federation
The Arab Federation – A Brief History.
Created after the Saudi War and the subsequent rebellion of the Rashidi family and its supporters, the powers of the governments of Egypt, Germany and SU compromised and created a democratic government to help restore order in the region. Shortly after, Arabia joined with the small nation of Baghdad to form the Arab Federation. Recently however, rebellion by Arab Socialists preaching pan-Arabism whose cause was made famous by Saddam Hussein, the official mouthpiece of the rebelling forces.
The Arab Federation declared the greater Baghdad area a “dangerous combat area” and ordered all civilian personnel to stay where they are until the area could be pacified. While no specifics were given on the situation in Baghdad, an official informed this paper that the situation had become a fiasco as Saddam’s forces controlled almost the entirety of the city and its suburbs. This is just one more of a much larger series of events that have moderates in the government calling for Saddam’s demands to be addressed.

The Japanese also secretly approach the Arab Federation with the same offer
The Arab Federation expresses extreme gratitude at the offer but considering the actions may legitimize the rebels claims of S.C.T. ‘meddling’ in the region it must decline the offer. It does mention the possibility of future cooperation with the S.C.T. and its members once the rebellion is defeated.
Coup Crushed!
A coup d'état which for all intents and purposes came within a hair’s breath of succeeding occurred yesterday in Riyadh. While the rebellion has been crushed by police and military forces, members of the coup still control several key facilities in parts of the city. While no official count has been issued on the causalities, a source within the Riyadh police said that the police and military forces in the capital had taken extremely heavy causalities with significant numbers of men either participating in the coup or fleeing to the countryside around the capital which in recent months has become a no-go zone for government forces.
Meanwhile the Arab Socialist’s repeated their assurances that all government forces or supporters that surrender while be treated fairly and most likely be allowed to return home so long as they swear to never fight for the current government again. This is seen to be in response to rumors that government forces executed several members of the coup after they had surrendered.
As to the rumored death of several key members of the government in the rebellions no comment has yet to be made by officials and all inquires were ignored as of yet.

so was this a pro-Socialist coup?
Semi-Secret Official Arab Federation Communiqué
ATTENTION ALL COMBAT UNITS
As of 12:00 hours, contact with Riyadh-based forces was disrupted and has yet to be re-established. Be advised that loss of the capital may have occurred. All forces prepare for possible rebel attacks on positions and remain prepared to withdraw forces to secondary defensive lines.
With the Arab-Socialists in power, reforms are introduce to bring back the Arab Federation to the 'true' path. Islam is decreed the official religion of the nation though all others are free to practice and the government is slowly reformed to make it more centralized and to move it away from being an actual federation.

Rumors continue to swirl after several newspapers have published documents containing information which several members of the Mejlis Watani claim show that Field Marshal Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr was involved in several massacres of innocent Europeans in the Middle Eastern Union Civil War. It should be noted that while very few documents survive from that period, even less contain references to the slaughter of civilians even though atrocities by all sides were common. The Planning Office recommends that this fact be emphasized as to suggest these documents are forgeries designed to discredit al-Bakr. Whether or not these allegations are true, this matter is deemed to be important to the legitimacy of the government and should be answered swiftly and loudly. The Public Service Office recommends publishing the corrected records on al-Bakr to the public with emphasis on the fact that most records of that era are located in Turkey. Also recommended is the expansion of Directorate 19 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraqi_Intelligence_Service#Special_Bureau) to help deal with any future leaks of uncorrected personnel files.

Saddam Assassinated!
Baghdad (AP) – The Arab Federation government announced today that last night as President Saddam Hussein was returning from a visit to his family in Tikrit, his convoy was attacked by rebels using what Defense Ministry officials “military style tactics and weapons.” While the President’s Special Republican Guard escort managed to drive off the attackers, killing most, the President was already dead, his car struck by multiple RPG’s.
While there is no word on who is responsible as of yet, Defense Ministry officials tell us that the series of raids in Riyadh and near the Western Arabian border were directly related to the assassination of President Hussein.
Meanwhile Michel Aflaq was sworn in as President early this morning in a private ceremony. In his first order as President, Aflaq declared a week of mourning for one of the key figures in the Revolution. He also declared martial law and ordered a 10 PM to 5 AM curfew in affect for the next week. He also ordered the military to mobilize and has order it to assist the police in guarding all important civilian structures.

In an editorial in the Baghdad newpaper, Manfred Rommel celebrates Saddam's life and works.
He also expresses his hope that his dream of Pan-Arabism didn't die with him.
Riots rocked several major cities today as hundreds of thousands of people flooded into the streets of Baghdad and Riyadh in rememberance of former President Saddam Hussein. While the protests were largely peaceful, Police were forced to disperse a crowd that had surounded the Western Arabian Embassy in Riyadh. While the government has repeatedly denied having to found any connection between the Western Arabian government and the assassination, the public has widely blamed the Arabian gov't for the attack. The police arrested several persons who they claim were planning on storming the embassy during the protest.
