OOC: Mercenary Nation, Godmodding?

I had a random thought to create a mercenary nation. Kind of like that one nation in Mercedes Lackey's books. Children would be raised to carry on a career either in logistics, a leadership role, or as a soldier.

What this means- the entire population would be in the army.

However- I would never deploy them all at once, and, with the exception of initially outfitting a small band to begin with, in order to obtain some starting funds, I would limit the millitary budget to what I recieved from various jobs. So say I got paid one million dollars for some assassination, I'd head over to a millitary storefront, and buy, say, two hundred thousand dollars worth of hardware.

So what do you think. Would that be a godmod?

Not godmodding. You would ahve to be aware of the risks, as you seem to be, jsut don't make yourself uber and you are fine.

Likely to be ignored, but whatever.

No civilians = no economy = no money = no government.

Here's the theory. This is less a nation in the traditional sense then it is an organization. In addition, as I mentioned, only about a fifth of the money I recieve is going to go into millitary, the rest going into feeding and clothing the people, and all that other good junk.

Finally, I'm accepting that I have no economy, as I mentioned, only using money I recieve from being a mercenary.

Hey I used to RP Toopoxia as an Organisation, I asked on the NSdraftroom and they said it was alright so in my mind it's fine.

So you train everybody, merge the education budget and the Law and Order budget, and give extra training for those that sign up for the active army. It is conscription and as long as you just train everybody adequately and don't deploy them, it is ok.

I like the idea (having heard it before), but if everybody is a soldier of some sort how do you feed them, clothe them, etc. All from trade? Well then who is working the ships and trains for trade?

Also, the nation would most likely have to be RPed as having a small population (even if NS said it had X Million).

That would fall under the logistics personnel. And yeah, I can see how that wouldn't work with a large population...

Sounds kinda like the Peacekeepers from Farscape. Only less sci-fi obviously. I like it.

So basically your saying this organization is a bunch of Privet contractors?

I would think for your style 25% of the total pop should be considered you fighting force, another 15% for leadership and the rest be logistical.

For me that works out,

25% Fighting force

15% leadership

60% logistical

Just living off of the jobs you get? Sounds okay to me.
