DEVELOPMENT

The AR-44A1 was designed over 2 years ago. The Asgarnian Arms Company designed the weapon and marketed the design to the Asgarnian Army at first. The Asgarnian Army showed great interest in the weapon, and began testing the original design immediately. The Asgarnian Marines also showed interest, and tested it as well. The testers of the weapons compiled a list of problems and complaints. Asgarnian Arms went back to the drawing board and revised the design. They came back to the Army and Marines with the new product. The Army was slightly disheartened, but the Marines loved it. The Army's main complaint was the fact that there was no grenade laucher. The problem was not easily solved. Asgarnian Arms designed a special rifle grenade, to be used by the Asgarnian Army exclusively. It is a thermobaric warhead grenade with a range of 400 meters. The Marines were happy with the 12 Gauge shotgun permanently mounted to the bottom. However, the Asgarnian Arms company created a special Commando Variant, AR-44A2, without a shotgun. The Army and Marines accepted the design, and bought enough for their every soldier.

AMMUNITION

Asgarnian Arms was tasked with designing special ammunition to be used with the AR-44A1/A2. They created 3 special ammunition types for the rifle, and 3 for the shotgun.

RIFLE AMMUNITION:

6.5mm Kinetic Energy/Armor Piercing

This round was created with mass trauma in mind. It combines a KE round with an armor-piercing core. The round delivers the armor piercing core first, then, when the round is past the armor, employs a KE-style back.

6.5mm Hollow-Point

The Hollow-Point round was created to offer soldiers a round that would completely stop any would-be attacker dead in his tracks. The round is specially molded to include a deep, cone-shaped hole in the center of the round. When the round hits a target, it mushrooms out. This effectively stops the enemy usually with one round.

6.5mm Frangible

The Frangible round was made to prevent through-and-through penetration in enemy subjects. It uses several metals, called "Blended Metals" to create a round that shatters just after penetration of a soft target. It does not shatter if it hits a hard metal, however.

SHOTGUN AMMUNITION:

12 Gauge Flechette-B

The Flechette-B shotgun round is designed to be fired into a crowd or a wave of attacking enemy soldiers. The flechettes are barbed, hence the "-B" suffix.

12 Gauge MasterKey

The MasterKey round is basically a solid cylindrical zinc slug. It hits things like deadbolts or doorknobs, and destroys them.

12 Gauge Grenade

The grenade round is longer than a regular 12 Gauge shotgun shell, and delivers a powerful High Explosive warhead. Its effective range is 225 meters.

The AR-44A1/A2 is available for export now.

OOC: 7.62*39mm is not NATO, the 7.62*51mm is NATO and is it terribly overpowered thanks to stupidity on the US's side. 7.62*39mm is the standard Warsaw Pact round for older AKM and AK-47 rifles. Recommend an intermediate round between the 5.56 NATO which is underpowered or the 7.62 NATO which is overpowered. The 7.62R is a bit too strong for some stuff, try a 6.5mm round, everybody is doing it.
