"Conscript Fathers!" called the aging Master of Debate as the men stationed all around the curia beath the ends of their sticks into the ground to try and gain the control of the senators who had been in an uproar due to the new issue at hand. "Order! Silence!" As the shouts were heard, the many patricians sat down in their benches once again, only low murmurring continueing briefly. "The Senate recognises Senator Gaditicus." he said, nodding to the standing man at his right.

"It is an abomination that our good Roman people must share land that is ours by right with those dispicable carthaginian elephant riders! It is our duty to protect the interests and good people of Rome, and these punic animals must be driven off of Sicily so that our settlers can live in peace and make the island civilised. What shall we, as brave Romans, do to counter the growing power of this rival? Nothing? No, my friends, we must strike! We must attack and subjugate these heathens!" The Senate went into another uproar. "I call upon this assembly to send our glorious legions against them and claim the island of Sicily for Rome!"

"General," a soldier rode up on his brown stallion, "The scouts have reported that the roads are all clear. Carthage has received our declaration of war and has yet to send an army into the field."

Aulus Numerius rubbed his hand through the crimson horsehair crest on his helmet, before placing it on his head and doing up the strap. "The Senate gave them a period of fifteen days to surrender the island, as well as pay a tribute in gold and hostages. I know these people from negotiations with their diplomats, if that unruly bunch could be called that. No, they will need a helping hand in their decision."

He began riding ahead at a slow pace, followed by his officers and cavalry bodyguard of twenty. The cornicerns blew the order to march, and the drums began their beat to keep the pace. Two legions: ten thousand infantry, six hundred cavalry and the siege equipment that gave immense power to the legions. Two more legions would be arriving at Messana from Italy within a week, and could be called up if needed. The objective was Lilybaeum, the Carthaginian capitol on the island. The legion would brush past the small villages and towns on the way, and lay siege to the city within two days march.

King Cotiso, of the Kingdom of Daci, sat in his throne room. Sarmizegetusa, the nations capital, was a fledging city, as grand as Athens. He spent much of this years resources, contructing a powerful army, with which he would defend against the increasingly belligerent Romans to the South and West.

Viriathus, A Lusitanian general, had just been throwned king of the Lusitani Tribe after the death of his father. He brought thoughts together to unify the tribes of Hispania into a single power able to defend against any threat.

He first sent word to the Tapoli tribe to the south. He knew they would join because they had been a dependent tribe of thiers for many years. He also sent word to the Vettones, Celtici, Conii, Turduli, Turdulorum Oppida, and the northern tribes. He also sent word to the Celtiberians, Iberians, and Calaicians to the east and north.

He hoped with the help of the Iberians, Celtiberians, and Calaicians the rest of the smaller tribes would follow.

Messangers were also sent to the Gaulic tribes in the north, and Carthagians to the southeast. Hoping for some type of alliance and/or trade aggreements.

-

Word was reiceved later that day that the small tribes to the north and tribes to the south had agreeded to join with us. Also the Calaicians had also agreeded to join and had sent a contingent of their army numbering 3,000 to our capital at Emerita Augusta. I guessed it was a sign of good faith. I sent out a call to all metal smiths in Emerita Augusta and surrounding villages to start work on sheilds, spears, swords, and daggers for our future army.

King Amadocus who had united Thrace after a war that had lasted eight long and bloody years he had at last defeated the last tribes north of the Danube which had opposed his kingship. So now at last he took the title High King of ALL of Thrace. Using his power had made every resisting tribe yield before his might and make him them their supreme leaders. As well, he had made every signal warrior vow to serve their new king and all his descendents, from now to the end of time.

To symbolize the new united kingdom of Thrace under the new rule of High King Amadocus I. For the building of his city he brought in 80,000 slaves to gather the required stone and to construct the buildings. As well, he brought in the best architects from foreign nations that were willing to come…

King Inguio of the Ingaevones tribe was restless. He ruled over a small number of people who were all very poor and very hungry. The land that his tribe inhabited had always been poor for farming and this year there had been a particularly harsh winter. Animals were scarse and the few crops that they had were very meager. His people had to find richer and more fertile land or they would slowly wither and die out. That was why he decided to bring his people south in search of more fertile lands and warmer winters...

The slaves were making good progress so far with the construction starting first with building the city walls with the strongest limestone that was available to them. The palace’ foundation was also being laid with that same stone. To help for the growth of the settlement 10,000 farming families were moved into the fertile lands around the city.

Diplomatically messengers were sent westwards towards Dacia and Rome in the hopes of establishing diplomatic relations with them.

OOC: The city is being built on either the Danube or the Black Sea have not decided where to put it yet.

After two days of waiting word was finally recieved from the Celtiberians and Iberians. Both Kings had decided to join this ever growing nation, but wanted the capital moved to a new city more in the center of the empire. With there joining messangers from smaller tribes from their area arrived. I got on their request quickly. I took out my map of the area and looked at all the cities. I saw only one city that was near the center of the empire and that was Segovia. So I called up a force of 35,000 workers and gave instrutions to three of our empire greatest architects of what I needed built.

"I will arrive in two weeks, have the governmental palace done by then."
"Yes King Viriathus."

The improvements I had asked for would take months so I sent messangers back to the Celtiberians and Iberians for more workers to speed up the process.

An army of nearly 100,000 workers decended on Segovia. In the two week time period the workers were able to construct the new capital building, a barracks, and many new homes. King Viriathus arrived as he had said in two weeks.

"Ah, good job my architects. You have served your nation well. Now since we have the man power here, continue to improve the city so it can expand. In the coming years."
"Yes King Viriathus."

The architects built more homes, large markets, a temple to pray to the gods, and they started construction on an aqueduct. It would be completed within a year.

---

"Have we heard any word from the Carthagains or Gaulic Tribes?"
"No King Viriathus, no messangers from either has arrived here or in Emerita Augusta."
"Any other news?"
"Word comes from the docks at Tarraco that Rome has moved into Carthagian held Sicily, then plan to lay seige to their capital on the island."
"May the gods have mercy on their poor souls."

The walls of the city were now completed and the palace was well under way as now the finest stone was being used to cover the outside of the walls, The interior of the walls were being made of strong stone that was covered to be resistant against the weather. As for the housing the slaves now began to quarry enough stone to make the remainder of the public structures and now began to make bricks for the housing of the commoners.

The messenger from Thrace arrived at the palace in mid-day, to good hospitality, with the insistance by King Cotiso himself, that the diplomat be given treatment worthy of the King himself.

He was taken to the throne room, where Cotiso met him, and after a brief introduction, Cotiso asked, "Might I ask what your esteemed King wishes to discuss with us? We are glad to discuss all that is on your mind."

Palace in Segovia

As King Viriathus looked out his palace window he thought of the great new world his people would have. He could see a messanger come to the palace gates. He quickly returned to his throne. Minutes later a soldier came in with the messanger.

"What brings you here messanger?"
"I bring news from the Celtiberians and Iberians. They will transfer control of their armys over to you with in the week. They will arrive here by that time and be yours to control."
"How many are in their armies?"
"Well, I believe there are 25,000 or more in each. And the other tribes in the area with send their troops with them. So, it will be over 50,000."
"I can do math messanger. Give him a day to feast and rest before his return."
"Thank you my king."

The soldier lead the messanger out of the room.

"Military advisor!"
"Yes King Viriathus?"
"When those troops arrive I want a count of them and reported to me as soon as it is complete."
"Yes King Viriathus. I will make the preparations now so it will go faster."

OOC: Sorry I didn't post sooner

Madyes III rode his horse along the ranks of horsemen. Everyone who stood before him respected him only because he earned their respect. The tribes had been divided for many years after the great leader had fallen. Each tribe had gone its own way to achieve power, but they never came together. Until Madyes came of age.

His father had been indebted to many of the other clans, and could not pay them. Unable to pay his dues, his family moved around, but one day, they were caught. Unable to pay his dues, his father's neck and his family's freedom was taken. After watching his father die Madyesescped with his brothers. They murdered the chieftain of the clan who came to exact his debts. Madyen and his brothers instigated war between the two most powerful clans, while he martialled his own army. He slowly worked his way across the lands allying with the other smaller clans or murdering their leaders and appointing a brother or loyal soldier as head of the clan. Finally, one of the two large clans allied with Madyes's forces and he swiftly against his opponents.

Today, the last of those who had opposed him had just been executed. He faced his men, all of them loyal, knowing what would happen to them if they weren't. His brothers came before him and most trusted generals came before him. "Sire, what do we do now?"

"We need to expand. Specifically, we need access to the sea. For too long we have wandered aimlessly. We cannot forget our nomadic ways, but we must concentrate also on protecting the villages in our domain. If we can protect the peasantry, they will provide us with ample grain and other foods. With this, we will be able to trade. However, we need access to the sea."

"Sir, we already have access-"

"I know, but we are trapped in a great inland lake unless we can gain control of the strait. The kingdom of Thrace and the Persians control this."

"Sir, Thrace is small. We can easily overrun them."

"That may be true, but we do not need to start undue wars. Most of our soldiers are still recovering from the great war. Arrange for an emissary to ride to both Thrace and Persia. Offer them our good tidings and offer trade. And see if we can gain access to their ports. They will definitely be abound with untold riches."

As King Viriathus was updated by his advisors of the status of the nation a messanger cam into the room with the report.

"King, we have completed counting the new arrivals."

"And, what are the numbers?"

"Yes King, the numbers are 26,000 from the Celtiberians, 25,000 from the Iberians, and another 20,000 from the tribes that sent men. Also, an unexspected arrival came. The Calaicians sent the rest of their forces, they numbered 10,000 strong."

"Military advisor come here."

"Yes King?"

"With these new numbers, what is the total troop count?"

"The total troop count is 145,000 active troops, King Viriathus."

"Alright, arm them with the new weapons I ordered made."

"Yes King. Also, how do you want them divided?"

"Divide them into eight armies. Two defend the north and east. Two defend the south and west. And the other four keep in reserve."

"Yes King.

"King, the King of Gallacai sends word that his fleet of ships is at your disposal. What should I tell the messanger?"

"Tell the King to keep on trading with whoever he was trading with before. But, if he comes across any tribes in Britannia to try and secure an alliance or secure trade agreements with them and report it to me."

"Yes King."
