General Eisen studied the vid-screen on the bridge of his Firestorm Class Frigate. It displayed a feed of the planet below with a grid superimposed on it.
"Sergeant Mikil, have the pilod land here." He pointed to the region of the map marked 'Zone 125'.
"Sir, yes sir!" came Mikil's quick reply.
"And Mikil,"
"Yes sir?"
"Do stop calling me 'sir'."
"Yes sir!"
General Eisen sighed. The young men that made up the 22nd Armagh were far to well disciplined for his liking. He prefered a more frendly relationship with his troops, as it increased the sense of comraderie, and he had been trying to foster one with these men, but to little effect.
---
"Leth Azyr"
"Yes, My Lord?"
"Change our course. The foolish servants of the Corpse-God think to weaken our grip on Caladan. We must land in zone 150, and begin preperations to attack."
"Of course, My Lord."
Leth Chamon smiled under his heavily ornimented helm. It was a pleasure to command his fellow Thousand Sons once again. Now if only the thick-skulled mutants and human traitors could be taught to follow orders as well as his former battle-brothers.
---
Big Mek Grull turned to Lurtz.
"Sah, my skannerz are piken up a bunch uv ships makin for Caladan."
"Change our path, the boyz 'ave ben itchin fer a good scrap."
Lurtz walked into the main barracks of his Kroozer, and gleefully announced his intent to the boyz.
"We'z found uz a big ole' scrap to fight!"
The boyz roared their approval.
"We'z goin to Caladan. They gotz lotsa 'umies, and Chaos Byz too!"
He returned to the cockpit, the cries of 'WAAGH LURTZ' still echoing through the entire ship.
"Put uz down in dat big spot right dere" he said, pointing to a spot of the main continent that was relitively clear.

Dozens of Thunderhawks fell through the atmosphere, each holding its cargo of a dozen Imperial Guardsmen. Strapped into his seat next to the pilot, Sergeant Mikil sat watching out the pilots window, as the LZ grew larger and larger. He also saw the imposing appearance of the Citadel, which loomed larger than a titan. Its walls so thick that an Earthshaker round would be hard pressed to break it without many strikes. Its walls stood at least 200 meters high.

He smiled. "Whoever decided to mess with us is going to regret it, by the Emperor."

An hour later

General Eisen walked into the Massive gates of the Citadel. Large Imperial Flags were drapped from its walls, and an enormous 30 metre high statue of the Emperor was found within its court. The sky was a dull gray, as were so many worlds he'd fought on. But the ground was lush and green, as few worlds were.
"A world of contradictions," he noted. His honour guard formed a wedge around him, as PDF soldiers scurried about to perform various duties.
A Captain approached him and gave a smart salute. "Sir, he said, "My Superior wishes to meet you."
"Fine, fine. Lead the way." He entered into the mighty 250 metre brown Marble Keep.

ooc: tau 4th division landing in grid 160

IC:

At the height of the third Tau expansionist phase, an expeditionary force set out from Dal’yth. This force was led by the Fire Caste Commander O'Shovah, famous for his many campaigns against the Ork without Ethereal caste interdiction. Air caste observers based on orbital stations around Dal’yth had studied a cluster of worlds beyond the Perdus Rift, and after many years of careful planning, the expedition was sent to explore, study and colonise the world that the Imperium called 'Caladan.'

The journey to the system proved uneventful even for such a medium-sized warfleet of the Tau Empire, and O’Shovah decided that it was safe to set his fleet on a course for the far shadowed moon of the planet Caladan. Entering orbit, O’Shavoh was surprised when initial scans detected a large amount of activity scattered over a substantial area of the upper hemisphere. Taking safety measures, his fleet activated their newest cloaking technology; masking their ships to scans or even bare sight. The techno-sorcery of the Tau was impressive.

Landing a Crisis battlesuit team, O’Shovah watched through an uplink as the planet’s surface was revealed. Under a dark shadowed sky, the Shas’ui came upon a scene of destruction; a settlement reduced to charred rubble. Sickened, O’Shovah directed the warriors to search the ruins, where they discovered the mutilated remains of Man-kind bodies.

"This is not a good thing," said a voice behind O'Shovah. The Tau commander turned and saw his Lieutenant, O’kiv’rai of the Fire Caste, standing there looking over O'Shovahs shoulder at the comm-eye uplink.

"Indeed O’kiv’rai, liberating this planet would be for the Greater Good would it not? To protect any of those who are left and bring them under the safe cloak of the Tau Empire," said O'Shovah in his modulated voice.

O’kiv’rai nodded his head, an oddly Human gesture. O'Shovah remembered that his Lieutenant had been in a campaign against Tyranids not long ago, and his men there had had to fight alongside forces of the Imperium of Man. It was fairly obvious that he had picked up some habits from the breif cross-over.

"My 1st Company is ready for deployment. I already have the Hammerheads heating their engines," said O’kiv’rai. He tapped the armor he wore. "Ready and willing, for the Greater Good."

O'Shovah nodded, turned to the uplink map and widened it to the pict holo map. He motioned to the small town there, huddled in a valley at the edge of planet Caladan's only continent.

"Take up residence of this town. Fortify it to your own liking, but do not be detected at all costs. Shas'ui Kil'ov'rai and his Crisis Battlesuit team are under your command until I deploy the rest of the division," ordered O'Shovah.

"Very well commander." O’kiv’rai put a hand to his forehead, then moved it to his lips, then to his heart. "For the Greater Good."

"For the Greater Good," intoned O'Shovah. Lieutenant O’kiv’rai left and went to the hanger where his company of Fire Warriors waited.

Captain Zins steped onto the terf and took a huge breath of air. This is what he lived for, the smell of planet after a long space voyage.
" My platoon to me, Rose, Smith take your men into the trees to the west."
The men complied promptly, not even bothering with a yes sir in there compliance to the orders.
" FS and SS Set up in the citadel, my squad follow me."
He marched towards the open doors of the citadel in search of their General.

Upon reaching the Command Room of the Keep, General Eisen met the PDF Commander. He was a middle aged man of about 46, he was heavy, but looked to be in decent shape. He wore a White Dress uniform, which he took to be the officer's dress on this world, since his aide, the lieutenant colonel who had led him here, wore it as well.
"General Eisen, it is a pleasure." He said, sticking out his hand.
"Yes it is," Eisen replied firmly grasping his hand. "What is the problem on this world? I have not been briefed."

Hastur Marr, the Generals personal Psyker, was standing in the courtyard. Admiring the trees planted in a garden, he smiled, and then it struck him. His knee's buckled, his eyes watered. He saw blood. Oceans of blood running from the Hive City. A blood waterfall from the top of the Citadel spilling out. The sky filled red, a deep maroon. He saw him....Khorne himself!
"Emperor protect me!" Guardsmen and PDF alike sprinted to him to try and help. He brought his quivering hands to his chest and formed the sign of the Aquilia.
Private Kaine, Sergeant Mikil's squad medic, grabbed his robe and stared him in the face, "Whats wrong? How can I help you?"
When his seizures ceased, and his breathing relaxed, he stuttered, "I feel a great pain. The dark ones are coming." Then he fell into a coma.

Screams brought captain Zins to a full run, His platoon following. As he entered the courtyard he drew his pistol. A quick check told him there was no emediate danger.
"FS and SS split up and then set-up. Quick, something odd is happening."

As he aproached the downed man he brought up his COMM.

"Smith anything happening out by you?"

"no sir, anything wrong" Replied Smith slightly fazed by the check in.

"no, what about Rose?"

Smith still sounded worried when he replied. "he just called in to say he was in position. He had no trouble either."

"ok, out." He put down the COMM and adressed the medic tending to the man on the floor. "wheres the general?"

Eisen came on the Vox Comm. "All Officers, report to the Briefing room to be briefed on the Caladon situation."

When he reached the room he entered, nodding at the others in the room, found a seat and sat in it.

The hive cities on the other continents of the planet have been taken by deranged cultists. They seem to think that the immortal emperor, blessed be his name, is dead! "Holy Throne of Terra," General Eisen whispered. "It is far worse than I feared. I will move three battalions to the city, and we will fortify it. Meanwhile, The other battalions will fortify the Citadel, which we can use as a foothold. When the officers arrive at the briefing room as I asked, I'll give them their orders."

OOC: The Hive, of sector 83, right? And, let's just give orders on the fly, over the radio. We don't have time to gather all the captains and lieutenants.

IC:

The platoon (22nd Amagh, Gamma Battalion, First Company, Beta Platoon) quickly organized after planetfall, and moved to the NE side of the company.
Lt. Skelter paused as the Battalion Commander, Talon, recieved his orders. Around him, a force of 1,000 guardsmen was arrayed, rushing to get the battalion organized and mobile. After a few minutes of waiting, Skelter recieved his orders from the Captain.

"Lieutenant! Our orders have changed!" Captain Nicols (company captain) came in over the vox, "Regiment wants us to get Gamma Battalion mobile and move to the northwest of the Hive at Sector 83, ASAP! You get to be Recon platoon! Get your men moving, and hurry to the curtain wall of the hive. Once you get there, wait for the rest of First Company, then move to the road just outside it with Gamma Platoon, and blockade it. Understood?"

"SIR, YES, SIR!" Lt. Skelter bellowed over the mic, just to piss of the Captain. He then ordered his soldiers, not bother to use his vox. "McMurphy, get your men in front! Shrike, cover him! Sullivan, left flank, Mikil, right flank! My squad, rear guard. Rack, Grout, McDonner, base of fire, keep everyone covered. We've got a bit of a walk, boys. Get to the Hive, ASAP!"

The platoon packed their weapons and got into formation. At Skelter's signal, they moved, triple time to the Hive.

(OOC: Wanderjar, in case you didn't read close enough, get Sergeant Mikil and his squad to cover our right flank.)

"Rear with the gear huh LT?" Mikil asked with a sly grin. He didn't wait for a response. He organized his fifteen men and moved them out twenty yards away from the rest of the platoon, organized them into staggered column formation. He took the lead, and, when the LT gave the word, he gave the word to begin marching.

"Hows the Psyker?" Eisen asked his aide, Colonel Frelda.
"He's in a coma sir. Whatever fit he went into, knocked him out."
"Damn. What was it he said?"
"I'm unsure General." The Aide replied. "Something about "The Dark Ones" coming."
General Eisen pondered this statement for a moment.
"Are you okay sir?" Frelda asked.
"I'm confused. I'm not sure what that means. My guess is the Nigh.....Vandire's Oath!" He shouted. "Give me a line to the Admiral, tell him we're going to need his Astropath to send word to the Nearest Marine Chapter."
"S..sir?"
"He was talking about a traitor legion!"

Skelter smirked at Mikil's snide comment and gave the march order. The platoon moved some 200 meters, when there was a crash of jackboots behind him. He looked back, and saw the staggered ranks of the battalion marching behind him. He looked at them with pride, an inspiring display of Imperial might. He turned back to the fore.

After an hour of continous marching, the platoon reached the Hive, and walked through the curtain wall. The gatehouse was ominously demolished. As they walked through the main corridors of the massive arcology, Skelter noticed that they were mostly empty...

After nearly another hour of walking, the platoon made it to the other side of the Hive, and waited on the curtain wall, trying to pick out enemy invasion forces through their scopes and binoculars. After the rest of the company arrived, they and the hundred-man Gamma squad separated themselves, and exited the relative safety of the Hive. They scurried about the road, digging in and concealing themselves. He ordered Gamma platoon to set up defenses "Downstream" the road (counterclockwise in relation to the Hive), while Beta took "upstream".

"Sergean Mikil, take Shrike's squad, and cover the far-right of our line. Grout's snipers will support you."

"You dere, get dose trukks movin'!" the Warboss snarled, pointing a massive finger at an ork wearing a bloody Commisar uniform.

The ork in the scavanged clothing nodded, "Boss... the skout boyz say dere's a mowntin wid a good place for a fort to da east. ((Grid 26))"

"Okay, we'll hed to da mowntin and build a big fort. Get da boyz in da trukks, load up da gunz and get da Squig's movin'..." the Warcheif ordered, "NOW! Ya Grot!"

Lurtz looked around, behing him the hulk that had been his Krooza lay smashed into the rocky soil... the landing had not been a smooth one. But it didn't matter... Kroozerz could be built again.... there was a waaaagh to fight here.

"Take bitz off da kroozer to build the fort," the monster ordered. Around him gretchen and orks busily ripped apart the space ship and loaded the peices onto haphazard trukks and tanks.

"Sir," a sly looking half-grot said.

"What iz it?"

"There's a humie town a little bit north of the mountain...((Grid 27))"

"Any defensus?"

"Not much..."

"Send in a couple 'o trukks loaded wit boyz and tak da 'umans captive-like, day can help da grotz build the fort."

"Yessuh." the commander said and trotted off to a group of trukkz.

Lurtz adjusted his orky power armor- the front of which was composed of a bloodthirster skull- and, followed by his Nob body guard, trudged over to where Big Mek Grull was helping to pull a stalled tank out of a ditch.

"Grull," he barked.

"Yessuh?" the Mek said, turning towards the Warcheif and wiping his oily hands on his coarse smock.

"We iz buildin' a fort ova at da mountain, you'ze in charge of da konstruction. I'm stayin' here ta make sure da Squigs get outta da krooza okay, and da rest o da boyz head to da fort."

"K boss, dis is gunna be a good waaaaagh."

Mikil nodded. He motioned for Shrike to follow him, and he led the 23 men down the line.
Once in the appropriate spot, he ordered all the men to take a knee.

"Guys, I know we just got out of one rathole, and into another. You boys all did well last time, and that goes for Shrike's squad as well. As you all know, I have seen my share of combat in my time, and hate it. I do not like war. I do this because it is my duty to my Emperor, and to you. You are the finest men I have had the pleasure to work with before. This one is different than the last though. This time, we are fighting the traitors."

In the space surrounding Caladan, Hive Fleet Calamity was beginning to enter orbit, they had lain in wait at a distance and seen the Orks arrive and now the first phase of the invasion was to begin, afterall, the more biomatter on the planet the better.
On the planet a few Tyranid organisms had identified the main population centres and in turn called the hive fleet to them.
Now hundreds of Hive ships were massing around the planet, each one with subtle differences but all with horrifying intent.
Soon spores would be released to fall onto the planet and rain death and bio-terror.
The creatures within the ships themselves stirred, soon it would be time to feed.

In accordance with Commander O'Shovah's orders the rest of the Tau 4th Expeditionary Division had landed in good time. Kroot mercenaries had come along with the expedition, their willingness and eager drive to prove themselves in battle unsettling to even the hardened Fire Warriors; but they fought for the Greater Good, which was all Commander O’Shovah cared about.

The small town they had occupied was a ghost town. Stealth Suit teams had cleared out the entire city, searching for life. Earth Caste technicians had used their techno-sorcery to scan for causes, and it was determined that a small concentrated plague of sorts had wiped out the majority, and then the remaining Gue’la villagers had left.

Using their cleansing powers the Ethereals that accompanied the division managed to expunge the remnants of the plague. Tau troopers armed with plasma rifles walked about the city, cleansing it of the bodies. Within a few days the Tau had turned the city into a fortress. With only two roads leading out of the city, on going north, the other west, it was quite possibly the easiest defensive position that many of the Fire Warriors had seen in a long time.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

Within the command center of the town Commander O’Shovah stood over a holograph table that his Earth Caste technicians had brought down. It revealed only a slight, almost inaudible, humming sound. It reminded O’Shovah of the Tau Piranha Skimmers.

The holograph that was being displayed had been split into a grid. From orbit they had received intelligence on the local inhabitants, and much more disturbing news.

As of the previous day Tau com-eyes on the carrier had discovered a heat trail leading from space into the atmosphere; an obvious sign of a ship crash. Once they had followed it, they found a large crater. A crater that had a large broken hull of a ship and around it, masses of green. O’Shovah had cursed quite fluently. Orks had arrived on Caladan.

A knocking at the door disrupted O’Shovah from his thoughts and he turned to see Gue’vesa Shas’ui Anderson standing there. The human stood with a slight grin on his face. O’Shovah never did quite understand the function of this, but he was amused none the less.

“Shas’ui Anderson, come in,” said O’Shovah.

Anderson bowed in Tau fashion and entered. He wore the armor of a Fire Warrior, only converted for human use. His unit of humans, of Gue’vesa, ‘Human helpers’ in the Tau tongue had joined the 4th Expeditionary Division not long before. Since then the human company had earned the respect of the Fire Warriors, as had the other Tau Helper units.

Anderson looked expectantly at the doorway. As if by that another figure approached. This one was however taller than even a Tau, who were a foot above a human. Shea’vesa Shas’ui Gothrum (http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b184/Upum/40k/sheashi1.jpg) stepped through the doorway. Gothrum was of the Sheashi Race, having the head of a lion, but with the upright man-like body. The Sheashi had joined the Tau Empire long ago and since then their warriors had proved a strong addition to all Tau armies they were apart of. Like Anderson, he wore converted Fire Warrior armor.

Gothrum bowed and spoke in Tau with his rumbling voice. “Commander O’Shovah.”

“Good, I am glad that both of you have come. I have plans for our liberation of this planet,” said O’Shovah. The three gathered around the holo-map and the two Shas’ui studied it, O’Shovah merely let them get use to it and waited a few moments.

“As you can see we’re not directly opposed by any enemy forces. We know of Guela units here.” O’Shovah pressed a button on the side of the holo-map and grid 126 lit up with a blue light. “Of Ork units here.” Grid 23 and 22 lit up. “We’re still trying to detect if there are anything more, but until then I want advancements along the north road, here.”

The other two leaned forward and looked at the small town similar to the one that they were in positioned along the road to the north. A white light lit up around it, grid 165.

“Here, Shas’ui Anderson, is where your company will deploy with a platoon of Stealth Suits at your command. You are to take it and hold it. Any villagers may possibly wish to join the glorious Tau empire if they see their fellow Guela fighting for the Greater Good.

“Indeed they will Commander,” said Anderson. “I will leave now and prepare my men.”

“Good,” O’Shovah returned the Tau salute that Anderson gave and then watched as the man left. He turned to Gothrum.

“You Gothrum will move your men to take this town here,” O’Shovah pressed another button, and another light lit up the town to the direct west. “I will send a platoon of Fire Warrior Company One to support you. We believe that the Guela Imperium will have troops there. You’re to take it and hold.”

“I under stand Commander,” growled Gothrum. “For the Greater Good, I will take the town.”

“Go then.” Gothrum bowed and left.

-*-*-*-*-

O’Shovah was about to take his evening sleep when a Tau officer rushed into his command room. “Commander! We have an emergency! Shak’ta Carrier, in orbit!”

“What is it?” asked O’Shovah.

“A tyranid hive fleet.”

O’Shovah swore quite fluently for a long period of time and managed to reclaim his serenity after smashing several nearby pieces of Guela art hanging from the nearby wall. He turned to the aide.

“All units to prepare for combat. Carrier Shak’ta is to remain in cloaking, and to send a message to the Conclave. We’ll need more help here,” stated O’Shovah calmly.

"Gamma Battalion," General Eisen said over a secure Vox channel, "I need you to send a company of Guardsmen to investigate those ruins....they believe they may be a source for the taint. "Home sweet home, rite boz?" Grull chuckled, stomping over to meet the Warcheif.

"Looks prety gud, Grull." Lurtz grunted in agreement, gazing over his new fort. Nestled neatly in a wedge in the mountain side, the stronghold was coming along quite nicely.

A thick, heavy metal wall- made from parts of the ork Krooza- ran between the two sides of the canyon. Lined with guard towers bristling with grot machine gunners, the orky wall was already quite imposing... and construction wasn't near finished.

"We got rokkit launchaz behind da wall and on top of it, in case da 'umans try and get us from dah sky." Grull stated, walking alongside the warboss. In front of them loomed the unfinished gates, which, when the scaffolding was taken away, would look like a giant, grinnin' skull.

"Good, and do we got power?" Lurtz asked.

"I got two ah da reaktors from da krooza workin'- one is powerin' da Squiggoth cage..." Grull started, and an angry roar sounded from behind the huge wall- the Squigs were not too happy with their new accomidations, "And anudda is providin' power to da turrets and da command station. I need more powah for da Mek shop... cause if we is gonna build dreds and Kans we gotta have more juice."

"Didn't da Krooza have 4 reaktors?"

"Yeah, one's broke real bad but I got my mek boyz workin' on it inside the fort. The skoutz say the otha one fell out of da krooza during landing and landed in a hilly area to da souf. (Grid 24)"

"Oh kay, I'll send some grotz in a trukk ta dig it out fore da humies get it."

"Yessuh." Grull said, and stomped away to supervise an area of the wall still being built.

The Warcheif turned away from his fort and looked down the valley, the sun was setting to the west and the starz were coming out. Lurtz liked the starz... they reminded him of all the worlds left to conquer.

There was squeal and a scream, Lurtz's one eye looked down from the stars to the valley in front of him. Spires of obsidian and granite twisted out of the rocky granite floors, like great tenticals frozen in time. It was a good canyon for an ork.

Something screamed again, the warboss looked to the dirt road leading to the Great Gatez and saw a line of humies being led by the manical Dok Gishnakh.

"We got humies from da town to help out da grotz to build stuff!" he shouted shrilly.

One of the humans in the line fell and the Dok cracked his whip, "Get up ya Maggut!"

"Good dok, now put em to work. Send on a dah slave master wid em to da hills and dig out our reaktor."

"Yesss boosss." the 'doctor' hissed.

*******************

Couple 'o Hours latah, grid 24

"Dig you slugs!" the slave master shouted from his perch atop the hill. Below him lay a rocky crater where hundreds of grotz and humie slaves were busily digging out a very damaged Reaktor.

"Boss." said a rather fat looking ork, running slowly up the hill to the slave master, "Da grotz found sumthin' You shud come see... looks like a humie skeleton... but itz all metally. Da humies are skared."

Lush forest surrounded the Genestealer, ((Map section38)) it had been sent down many months earlier along with others of it's type to scout out the amount of biomatter on the planet, it had found a very pleasing discovery.
The forest around reeked of fresh biomatter ripe to harvest, the Genestealer's mind called to its other kin across the planet and up in the infinite black of space.

Without any evident command the Hive Fleet floating in orbit began to descend. From all angles the Hive Ships floated down to low orbit. Spores raining down on the planet's surface as they took up position.
The Genestealer looked up. Seventy-one winged shapes floated gracefully to the leafy soil, all but one were Gargoyles, leathery-winged shapes that made up the avian part of the Tyranid assault.

The first winged-shape to land was by far the most impressive, it was a Broodlord, the Genestealer could feel it's psychic will, or rather the amplified will of the Hive mind as it touched down. It would have stood tall compared to any human, but comapared to a Carnifex or Tyrant it was small, still it was strong and fast to equal any other bio-matter, in it's right hand it held a long bio-bladed sword.

All around a wave of creatures began to spread out from their seed-like spore pods, to make room for newer beasts, Carnifex roared and Raveners moved snake-like among the trees while a stealthy Lictor began to stalk out all the while a tide of Hormogaunts spread outwards.

The Hormogaunts formed packs around a warrior and began to search the woods for pray, for now the forest was to be the limit of Tyranid actions soon the trees would begin to show the signs of Tyranid-enhanced mutations, soon the swarm of beasts would be free to move, to move and to feed, but for now they lay in rest among the trees.

A dozen Gargoyles leapt into flight and began to spread out in different directions, beating their wings to stay aloft while searching for air-currents, hunting for where the prey lay.

(OOC: Come up with a Lieutenant Colonel to lead Gamma battalion if you would be so kind LNI :) )

"Gamma Battalion," General Eisen said over a secure Vox channel, "I need you to send a company of Guardsmen to investigate those ruins....they believe they may be a source for the taint. It's a known worship site for those Emperor Damned heretic cultists. I'd prefer it if you'd send First Company. That Sergeant Mikil's seen more battle then anyone in this Regiment. He's been at war since he was just a lad! You are authorized to kill anything you see there, as it's illegal for civillians to be in that area."
Lieutenant Colonel Gerry McDougall, Gamma Battalion commander, acknowledged his orders. He looked over his position. He was on top of the Hive's curtain wall. All about him, soldiers scurried to and fro, setting up defenses and gathering supplies. He spotted a First Company soldier carrying Heavy Bolter ammunition.

"Soldier! Send this message to Captain Talon: First Company is to consolidate, then move down the road to the north. After several miles, you will come to the North City Ruins. Enter them, and sanitize the area."

The soldier saluted, and rushed to First Company, Alpha Platoon, informing Talon of his orders. Platoons Alpha and Delta quickly removed and packed their emplaced weapons, and hurried down the stairwells and exited the hive. They met with the other platoons and exchanged orders. Again, Beta Platoon was ordered to go first...

"Beta Platoon!" Skelter yelled when he got his orders. "Same marching order as last time! Move it, you bastards!" He lifted his pack and got out of his foxhole. Within a minute, they were underway towards the ruins.

Captain Zins’ radio crackled to life. “Sir this is smith, something just landed in the forest to the north. Sir I think it’s a spore.”

“Alright, put up some angled spikes around you, and then wait. I will come to you. Don’t go near that crash site though.”

The captain walked out of the citadel flagging a passing solider on the way. “I want you to find the general and tell him that we have a spore in grid 111. And fast.” The man ran off and into the citadel.

* Grid 111, captain Smith’s location. *

Smith’s men were just finishing the last spike when Captain Zins walked in from the left. 2 men were dragging a bleeding corpse behind them. “Hormagaunt, we found it gorgeing on some local wild life, didn’t even notice us. So we shot it dead.”

Smith smiled, the captain could always lighten up the mood.

“Alright. Bob, up that tree. Your our look out. the rest of you in here.” Bob nodded and started to climb. Halfway up his foot sliped and he fell crashing to the ground with a thud. He let out a wail of pain, and 3 men were on top of him fast. 2 picked him up while the third shoved a rolled up sock in his mouth to quite him down. Captain Zins stood up, ready for action.

“Pull that plank up, everyone take off your saifties. Lock and load. For the Throne.”

A soilder moved forward to pull the plank up, halfway through the task a creature burst through the foilage up ahead. Heading straight for the man. He droped the plank and brought up his gun, stareing death in the face he pulled the trigger, pumping shots into the head of the creature. A heavy bolter had manage to swivle fast enough to hit it twice. Moving it inches to the right of where it intended to land. It colapsed in a heap next to the man. He graped the plank and pulled it the rest of the way up.

The captain took the left side, Smith took the right. “Men aim forward and make every shot count.” Then all hell broke loose, the bushes and trees ahead exploded as Hormagaunts burst forward, the waves slowly making progress. The creatures broke against the earthworks some impaling themselves others leaping over them into hot lead and super heated light. Then the line started to give alittle one or two men a side would be wounded or killed the tyranoid swarms using the dead corpses of their horde to climb up the ‘wall’.

Smith blasted the legs out from under a charging tyranoid. Hearing the crunch as the bones hit the ground at a high speed. He changed aim slightly and took out another. Moving slightly to the left as one lept over the ‘wall’ at him. Turning to the screams as a the man next to him gets riped apart. “ you basterd,” he pumps three shots point blank into its skull and turns his attention back to the front. “Hey captain any chance that we’ll get reinforcements?”

The captain grunts and then motions the COMM specialist over to see if he could a better reception. “This is captain Joshua Zins, were are in grid 111 and we have a serious tryanoid problem, and need backup. Quick. Aproach from the south, or west. I repeat …” The captain whirls around and draws his pistol unloading into an airbourne Hormagaunt that colapses ontop of the comunications specialist. “Fuck.” He moves back toward the middle. Handing out his spare ammo as he goes.

Captain Smith had nelt down, his medic has gone into a shock of sorts. Unwilling to move at all, muttering nothings into the air. “You get back up soilder, can’t you here the screams of help. The cries of pain. Those men need you. And your in danger here. Your too close to the fighting. If you won’t move for their sakes move for your own.” Smith turns towards the fighting as he hears a man scream in front of him. A tyraniod had made it up and over the ‘wall’ without jumping. And was bareling straight for him. It was coming too fast for him to reach the pistol in the holster on his ride hand side. Because he was using his right hand to prop himself up.

Blood was exploading from the creature as it charged forward. Rounds hitting it on all sides. The medic to his right had also started shooting brought out of shock by this charging beast. Smith pushed him to the side and pulled out his knife. Jabbing at the neck of the creature. A searing pain ripped through his shoulder and as the light faded away he could here cheers. Then all went black.

One of the Grots had picked up his shovel again, and started poking the Metal Skeleton. After doing so for a minute or two, it decided that the skeleton was really dead. Relieved, it turned around to tell the good news to the others, so they could continue to dig up the reaktor, and then get out of there as quickly as possible. This place felt wrong, so the Grot didn't want to stay here any longer than needed.

But when the Grot turned away, two green eyes lit up in the metal skull. And without a sound, the skeleton started to rise up from the ground, its ancient weapon still firm in its grasp. The Grot was wondering why all others were looking in awe at him, untill he felt there was something behind him. He turned around, and found himself looking down the Necron's weapon. A bright green flash, and it was no more.

Some of the slaves now tried to flee away, but they were stopped by the Orks guarding them and sent back towards the Necron. The blue gem in the Necron's chest began to glow, and a rumble went through the hills. Cracks started to appear in the ground, from which green light was shining upwards. Where the hill was crumbling, black metal became visible, with bright green lines running over it in complicated patterns. The shape of a monolith was recongisable, although the Orks who had never seen one before didn't realise that.

"Charge dat, yous slaves! Da boss wants dat reaktor, and wes not tellin' 'im a shiny humie stole it!" the Ork guards shouted, forcing the unwilling horde of Grots and humans towards the hill. The single Necron disappeared, leaving the horde alone with the crumbling hill. When they were near, the remains of the hill burst away with a flash of light, freeing the Monolith from its earth tomb. The charging horde stopped at once, the small Grots being too afraid to continue, despite the Ork guards telling them to. The guards themselves continued their charge however, running at the ancient machine in front of them.

As soon as they reached it, they started beating on the metal, but to no avail. Their Choppas didn't even scratch the black metal, and only managed to damage themselves on it. Then the Monolith rose up into the air, and activated it's Flux Arc. Within seconds, the guards were no more, and the horde now started to panic and run away. But it was all in vain, as two of the other hills started to crumble away too, revealing another pair of Monoliths in front of them.

The first one didn't follow them however. Instead, it stopped to activate it's main power matrix and open the portal inside it. From it, three Wraiths floated out, each engraved with many alien symbols. Those three started to float around the hills, ignoring the fleeing horde that was being exterminated by the Monoliths. Wherever they passed, the earth seemed to open, allowing more of the Necrons to awaken.

Not much later, when there were almost no slaves remaining, the Monoliths suddenly stopped their attacks and returned towards the hills. The remaining Grots were likely to return towards their encampment, and that was where the real soul reaping would eventually take place. Inside the hills, the last Necrons were crawling out of the earth, completing this part of the immortal army. It would find its way towards the four remaining parts first, after which it would continue with its original purpose - the slaying of all that lives...

Sergeant Mikil looked ahead, and in the distance, viewed a series of fallen structures.
"It would appear we've arrived," He said aloud. They continued their march towards the location. The fallen structures were covered in heretic symbols, ones only those familiar with chaos would understand. The Eight Sided Star of Chaos covered each stone. Private Oteto shuttered.
"Sir," Oteto asked Sergeant Jacobs, "What the hell are these things?"
With a sigh he replied, "Heresy Oteto, heresy."

The rest of the platoon took other paths throughout the structures, and found an underground cavern. As always, Mikil had the pleasure of going in first....

At the Grate Gatez

Orky work crews were just putting the finishing touches on the gate when what was left of the work crew came running back... screaming for their lives.

"...dere was an skellyton and da humies...." grotz babbled mindlessly, while any bigger orks simply screamed- enraged that they had encounter something that they couldn't chop, bash or shoot.

"Wat happuned?" Big Mek Grull shouted, emerging from behind the massive skull-like gate, "Daja get da reaktor?"

"No boss." one of the larger orks growled, "Dem grotz dug up a skellyton and it had a big green shooter... den dere was sumtin' else too- big triangle ting came up from da ground and shooted big green boltz."

The Big Mek paused, wiping his greasy paws on his work apron...

"You found urselfs some Nekro boyz." he said with a slight frown, "Da boss shud know 'bout dis."

The Forest (39, 37)

Terror (The Broodlord) squatted as it waited for the remaining Tyranids to emerge from their pods, tens of thousands of Tyranids were massed within the forest already and stragglers were still comming in from further away.
Of course some of the pods landed some distance away and so would take some time for their respective cargo to reach the forest.
It flexed it's wings in irritation then looked at a Lictor, perched high-up in a tree it's chamelionic skin matching the wood perfectly. No words passed between them but it instantly leapt to the next tree and began to head north, followed by a few dozen 'gaunts and a warrior.
They would test the foes to the far north, Greenskin biomatter was very useful afterall.

All around Terror, the sound of bio-matter being consumed was thick in the air, some of the trees were already beginnning to look a lot less natural and a lot more dangerous, as well.
A few of the Gargoyles were just returning from the south, the sea was close on them that way.
Hormagaunts were still trickling back in their small packs, some had managed to find some native fauna to consume but most still went hungry.
Raveners slid through the forest with unholy speed, hissing for lack of prey, but that would soon be remedied.

North-forest

The Scarred One ran north through the light brush, it kept the creatures around it from ranging too far while following the Lictor.
Fifty creatures in all, Lictor, Scarred One and three dozen Hormagaunts with a dozen Termagants, some with toxic-spore crests, other's with spiked skin or bio-plasma dripping jaws. They were not a powerful force by Tyranid standards, but the intent was to test not to overwhelm, yet.

The Scarred One began to leap to keep pace with it's smaller cousins, Hormagaunts were inferior bio-matter, weaker, lacking the cunning of the warriors, but they were swift enough to out-distance the warrior if it wasn't careful, and they were still deadly enough.

The Ruins
As Seargent Mikil entered the ruins, he realized that the silence had grown around him. It wasn't natural... As he turned around to warn his troops, foul screams filled the air as naked cultists armed with crude weapons and firearms burst forth from the rubble. Their foul bodies were mutated into unholy mockeries of humanity, and where their flesh remained human, it was covered in vile tatoos, which twisted and turned as if they were alive, mesmerising those who did not avert their eyes quickly enough.

The Quarters of Leth Chamon
Leth Chamon turned on his holo-screen, and it displayed an image of the Imperial-held citidel.
"This is the main concern I have at this moment. The derranged worshipers of the Corpse-God will be able to sit in their fortress, and wait and watch as we obliterate all of the opposing forces on the planet, taking heave casualties ourselves. This cannot be tolerated, as they will then come sweeping out of their sanctum, and overrun us with their numbers. We do not have the capabillities to conduct a prolonged seige..."
"Ah, but My Lord, there is one man who always is ready to conduct a seige at a moment's notice..."
"Of cource! Ragnar Ironfist, Warsmith of the Iron Warriors Leigon!"
The holo-feed was dispatched, its message simple and straightforward:
"Warsmith Ragnar, it is I Leth Chamon, leutennant of Neth Qyayash'y-Tzeendhaos
who summons you. I have found a siege which may test your skill, although
I have no doubt that you will emerge the victor. I have sent the quardinates

When the Necron group was completely ready and standing in formation between the hills, the three Wraiths had to decide how to proceed. Each of them had been programmed for one of three tasks. One was burdened with self-preservation, while the second was programmed for maximal soul-reaping, and the final one was created to furfill mission objectives. Together, the three of them were the controllers of the other Necrons, untill the Lord was recovered.

[OOC:The following discussion is actually just a series of digital arguments flying back and forth in a matter of milliseconds. But as it would be nice for you to know what they're up to, I've typed it out. I think you can guess which is saying what yourself though.:OOC]

"Our next objective is to converge with the other Necron forces, we will do so immediatly."

"Negative. The location of the temporary Ork fortification is known. We must destroy it immediatly."

"Our numbers are not great enough for that at this time, converging with the other forces will drastically increase our chances of survival."

"This makes furfilling our objective the most logical choice, we shall depart towards the other groups as soon as the sun is gone. Spread the order to all others. It will not be long before the Phalanx is completed again now..."

As if it were a single machine, all of the Necron army activated at once, and turned itself to face the location of the nearest group. When the last light of the sun was gone, it would start its silent march towards the south. The travel would last several days, although no troubles were forseen during those days. After all, which foolish beings would dare to defy the army of the Star Gods?

"So; Leth Chamon falters before the gates of the False Emperor? He bows and scrapes and begs for the favor of his Master; and yet still he must fall back upon ME!" A cackle hisses from the throat of the esteemed Warsmith; his mighty vessel, the Foehammer, hovering in the midst of the maddening void; gleaming with raw power. "He cannot hope to master the raw power of the Iron Warriors! He cannot think to understand every concept of a perfectly concieved siege! Weak and fawning; wretched and abhorred soulless sons of Magnus! Oh what a show this shall be!

Leth Chamon, humbled servant of the Changer, I have heard your message and your plea; I have listened to your prattle, son of Magnus; and as you wish, so shall we come. But we do not come to aid you; no; we come to slaughter those fool servants of the Corpse God; and reap a harvest for the Gods! A reign of Iron descends upon your wretched orb; death comes upon wings of steel. My wrath comes, Sorceror, pray you do not anger me with failure....

And so; slowly, the Foehammer began to move; reality sundering as it tore into the thrumming womb of the Immaterium. Soon; soon they would arrive; and the siege proper could begin...Ragnar let his powerclaw close about the image of the world, and the coordinates which Leth Chamon had provided.

The world would burn; and all the glorious hatred of the Iron Warriors would flow like the molten heart of the planet itself. For the greater glory of Perturabo; and for Ragnar's own diabolical lust.

Plains ((Grid point 35))

The Scarred One bounded across the plains, all around it 'Gaunts leapt sometimes making clicks or hissing, sometimes the Lictor would fall back and make itself known to them, to warn them of any traps, so far there were none.
A mountain reared up to one side and a river one the other as the 'nid scout squad continued it's swift pace, racing north toward the Ork positions.

Forest

Terror stretched it's wings, most of the Tyranids that were to make planetfall had done so by now, including the massive Tyrant and it's guards.
A massive Carnifex let out a roar, followed by others of it's kin, of course they would be getting impatient, they lived for destruction.
The Gargoyles had returned and half of them sat perched around Terror, the other half floated in a spiral above.
The swarm was ready to move anyway, any time, and the decision had been made.
The Tyrant began to move north and Terror took wing, his Gargoyles took flight alongside.
From above, the mutated forest looked nothing like where they had landed only a few hours ago, already explosive mutation had spread like wildfire.
The swarm of Tyranids moved north through the forest, that could change but for now it was time to feed, and the closest was to the north.
Within it's mind Terror wondered whether the Green-skinned ones would be the best target, they had the most impressive defences afterall and it would not do to lose too many minions before they were being replaced..

I know he did, but he has alot of influence with the officers in charge, because of his experiance, and time in service. In the US Army, if a Sergeant does something like this, there is nothing wrong with it. If a Lieutenant makes a big deal out of it, he's usually yelled at. Mikil did nothing wrong. Trust me mate, i thought about what i was writing ;)

"Keep togetha you maggits!" the Mad Dok screeched, waving his flamer-arm in the air, "We gotta find dose skellytons- da boss wants sum 'eads for his pointy stikk."

Behind the ork 'surjon' a dozen shoota boyz, ten choppas, two looted Leman Russ tanks, a Nob with a powerclaw, and a swarm of heavily armed grotz marched in as close to a formation as orks got. The tanks growled angrily, spewing oily black smoke into the grey sky. To the right of the Mad Dok trotted a runty grot waving the flag of Lurtz's Waaaagh!- a grinning red skull on a white sheet.

"...hey boss?" the gobin holding the banner squeaked sheepishly... "Do you see sumtin' over dat hill... looks like a big herd of sumtin'."

The Mad Dok laughed, squinting his slitted red eyes. "I tink dose are tyrannynods...." he said gleefully, before shouting, "Get ready boyz, looks like we got a good scrap on our hands. Forget da Skellytons, we iz fightin' da 'Nids!"

The Leeman Russ tanks fired off two shots, both of which fell short of the advancing 'Nids but caused terrific explosions... The greenskins cheered, the tank's engines revved, and the Dok screamed:

The ground in front of the Tyranids was turned into a fountain of earth and fire, it blew the front ranks back a few paces but caused no real harm.
The Scarred One let out a sound that was half shriek and half roar and ran at a dead charge toward the Greenskinned ones, acid dripped from it's jaws and it's claws and barbs were made ready for close-combat.
But for all it's speed the Hormagaunts out-paced it, the first half-dozen falling to enemy fire before even reaching the line.
The Termagants let fly their bio-weapon volley of fleshborers just before a dozen of the Hormagaunts leapt headlong into the charging greenskins, claws and blades and teeth swinging to counter greenskin blade and fierce, brutal strength.
With another cry the Scarred One launched itself into the mob.

Past the Orks the Lictor headed north, its chameleonic nature hiding it from even the smart Orky eyes, it was following the tracks laid by the Orks, it's heightened senses easily making out the path they took, afterall a Lictor was around to ambush and to kill, and who better to target to turn the entire bunch of Greenskins into a mass of hardy, but easier to kill, bio-matter than their leader himself.

Terror

The Broodlord rode the wide further north, the Genestealer vanguard of the brood a few miles behind him, the bulk of the brood lay further behind. Still crossing the river. But he had three-dozen Gargoyles with him, all he needed for protection from anything that wasn't several dozen strong, and in that case he was likely to see them beforehand.

A distance a head he could sense combat and further ahead he could sense the Lictor, it was making good time.
With a hiss he angled his body to catch the wind to bring him toward the battle with the greatest speed, the Gargoyles around him followed suit and he beat his wings lightly to speed his way, minutes yet, but combat and feeding were both close.

River

The huge Tyrant crashed up on to land, water falling from it's huge and horryiying form. Behind it the forest was already hard to recognise, Spore Chimneys already reared above tree-cover and would continue to grow, the forest itself had fallen victim to the spores but soon they'd spread even further.

Suddenly, the sky above the Imperial Guard is filled with the scream fo Tunderhawk engines. RUnning less then 30 feet off the ground, the doors of the transports open as heavy bolters and rockets rake the foe. Tumbling out of the first Thunderhawk came the assault marines, jet packs guiding them towards a safe landing and battle.

Shortly after them came the Dreadnaught Samiel and Andariel, landing solidly on the ground. With a dull roar, Samiel's assault cannon opened fire on the cultists, spitting death into their ranks. Andariel's fire concentrated on the demons that flitted around the battlefield, burning lances of lascannon fire searing the air.

In succession, the other gunships came over. Emariel felt the driver of his Land Raider gun the engine, followed by the sickening sensation of falling through the air. "Waaaagh!" the single Nob roared, leading his choppas, and tens of sword weilding gretchin, into furious hand to hand combat with the 'Gaunts. His powerclaw effortlessly closed around a hormagaunt as he unloaded his bolter into an advancing termagaunt. Next to him a choppa fell, screaming, as the acidic missiles of the Nids burned into his face.

"Fight dem!" the Nob cried, sinking his teeth into the neck of a hormagaunt. To his right an ork squealed, pig-like, as the 'Nids knock him backwards and slashed at his torso. The choppas roared in bloodlust, swinging their axes recklessly at the gaunts. They pushed the grotz in front of them, allowing the runty goblins to absorb the brunt of the 'Nid strength.

Behind the choppas shoota boyz and gun-weilding grotz rained heavy metal slugs onto their insectoid foes, backed by the heavy kannons of the Leman Russ tanks.

Dok Grishnakh grinned crazily, wading through the chaos towards the Scarred One... he lifted his flamer-arm and drew a large cleaver with his free hand. The Scarred One leapt to one side as the jet of flame shot toward him, its adrenal glands giving a boost to speed enough to avoid incineration.
It's arm, however wasn't quite fast enough, what had been a clawed hand now was just a blistered stump, but that wasn't enough to stop it, it still had two harpoon-barbed limbs and a clawed hand as well as it's flesh hooks and acid maw.
With a hissing sound the Scarred one spat a swathe of acid at the big, flame wielding Ork.
To one side Hormagaunts leapt into a pack of sword-wielding smaller greenskins, both sides slashing and letting out battle-cries.
To the other an unlucky Hormagaunt had it's skull blown apart by Ork fire.
Behind him two of the Termagants were taken out by Ork-fire and one had it's legs blown off, still the other nine let of a volley of fleshborers and acidic projectiles.

The small Ratlings navigated the ruins leading up to the building, unharmed despite the Screamers. They quickly piled into the building, and barraged the demons with sniper fire from the dark windows of the building.

Skelter watched them from the cover of a collapsed pillar, and shouted "McDonner, get your squad back, and give us some heavy support!"

The ten men of the Heavy Support squad picked up their weapons and ran, but weren't quite as succesful as the Ratlings: two of the soldiers, one of them a Heavy Bolter crewman, were picked off by the Screamers. The others made it through, and set up their weapons in the ruined building. Once heavy boltfire hammered the enemy, Skelter gave the fall-back order. "Mikil, keep your squad back, and cover us! The Mad Dok squealed- pig-like- as acid burned into its chest. Fortunately for the 'surjion,' ork flesh was particularly tough... and the dokter had experimented with several 'upgrades' to himself, making his hide even tougher.
The lunatic greenskin let loose another jet of flame at his adversary and charged, swinging his cleaver in a wide arc towards the Scarred One's head.

Behind him Termagaunt projectiles ripped through the gun toting grotz, dropping the goblin swarms like flies. One of the shoota boyz, hit from all sides by the 'Nid acid, fell in a steaming heap of green and black. The other shoota's laughed and continued firing.

The Hermagaunts ripped into the dagger swinging gretchen with ease, tearing the grotz limb from limb. The goblins did, however, give the larger Orks! the living sheild they needed, allowing the Choppas to hit the 'Gaunts from relative safety.

The two looted tanks rolled head long into the fray, bolters and turrets firing, cutting apart grot and 'Gaunt in equal share.

The Scarred One dropped lower and to one side mid-lunge, hot air whistled past it's head as it did so. This Ork made for an excelent opponent, but now the Warrior had got in close enough to use it's superior height and number of limbs against the Ork.

Around it a handful of Hormagaunts were cut apart by tank-fire, another Termagant was felled by longer-range fire and another two were wounded but not beyond combat ability, acid-projectiles fired in return at the tanks, enough would be able to melt through even a heavy tank like that.
Off to one side a the Hormagaunts were being cut into badly by the larger, greenskinned beasts, three went down spraying blood and acid among the frind and foes alike.

One Hormagaunt cut through two smaller greenskins only to have his skull split by an Ork choppa blade, another had one of it's arms hacked off but kept up the attack, as long as the Scarred One was present they wouldn't be slowed by non-fatal wounds.
Another volley of fleshborers and acid descended into the melee from the remaining Termagants and was returned by Orky fire.

The Scarred One faced off with the Ork, taller by a head and with the Ork within armsreach the Tyranid would have smiled if it could have, and if the Ork wasn't such a dangerous foe.
With a quick side-step the Scarred One's attack began, bony barb lower limbs stabbed for the creatures mid-section and clawed hand slashed for the Orks thick arms ready to rend muscle and flesh.

Terror

The Broodlord could see the battle clearly now, not long before they were upon it, Gargoyles hefted fleshborers and deathspitters and Terror held his bio-blade with a ready grasp, a minute, maybe two left.

Further North

The Lictor moved, the Ork fortress was now in sight, it assumed the big Ork on the battlements was to a warboss, that was it's target.
Protected from sight the Lictor moved toward the Ork defences.

Three nights of silent marching, and two days of standing in the mountains later, the three leaders of the Necron army reached the hills in the South-West region of the island. Behind them followed a column of dark metal soldiers, only visible because of their glowing green eyes, and walking without a single sound. While the rest of the army was still forming up again into a real Phalanx, the Wraiths continued through the hills, apparantly searching for something. Red, blue and yellow eyes glanced over the place, methodically swiping over every hill. Not much later, they converged again above a central hill, having found what they were looking for.

The gems inside their chests started to glow, and for each of them, a perfect duplicate burst out of the ground below them. The two groups of Wraiths stared at eachother for a moment, then spread out over the hills again to awaken the second part of the Necron army. An army identical to the first one slowly rose from the ground, forming a second Phalanx, a perfect duplicate of the first. The Wraiths then returned to the central hill, deciding on the location of the nearest other group of Necrons, and planning their path to reach it...

General Eisen was worried by the reports of Cultist summoned demons of the warp, as well he should be. But he was also disturbed by reports of large amounts of Orks his Thunderhawk pilots claimed to have seen, and Tyranids that ambushed a company in a forest to the North of his position.

"This is not going to be good." He said with a sigh. "Normally, I would evacuate the Hive, but it seems that the heresy has spread everywhere. Holy Throne of Terra, I do not want to do this."

Curious his aide asked, "Do what sir?"

Slowly, he lifted his head from his stare at the floor, and muttered, "Exterminatus."

"General Eisen, I have a company that is highly mobile and eager to kick some Heretic ass. Do you have any orders for it?"

Btl. Commander Talon's voice came in over the vox. "Thunderhawk pilots, return First Company to the Hive, we need to reinforce it against the Tyranid and Ork forces to the northeast."
"Yes, sir." The pilot switched off the vox, and changed course. "Lieutenant, I suggest you sit down, we're heading into some choppy weather."
"Yeah. Keep us steady."

The three Wraiths had discovered the nearest group of Necrons contained their Lord, which gave it an even higher priority. This meant that the Necron force would travel in a straight line towards it, marching day and night without any delays. With this decided, both of the armies turned towards the North-East and started their silent marching, green light illuminating the area around them...

***Meanwhile, in the village not far from there.***

"They're coming for us! They're coming!"

A young boy came running into his parents house, screaming about something evil being after them. After he had told his parents all he had seen, they went outside to look for themselves. Immediatly they noticed a green glow coming towards them from the hills. Panicking, they ran to their neighbours to warn them, and then hid together in one of the cellars.

This was something they shouldn't have done. The Wraiths sensed that there was a group of souls present in the small village they were passing by. It was an opportunity too good to pass by, but they had to continue towards their Lord. Together they decided to let a small group of Necrons go to the village to investigate it, and to kill everything they encountered while the main column continued its march...

Their souls already promised to The Lord of Change, many of the villagers were conducting foul rituals in the temple which once was devoted to the false emperor, their collective minds attempting to pierce the psychic blockade which the Tyranids had formed around the planet. Their souls glowed like a beacon to those ancients who could sense them. Suddenly, their concentration was broken as the screams of a child brought them back to the here-and-now.

It wasn't long before the small group of Necrons reached the village, heading straight for the largest presence around them. They ignored the minor presences in the other houses. If they could be bothered, they would return for those afterwards. Even those standing on the streets were ignored, not yet worthy of their attention.

At this time the Necrons weren't expecting any opposition from the villagers, and assumed panic would break out any minute now. But when they got to the Temple, they saw that these were not the average afraid villagers which they used to slaughter in ancient times, these looked like they would actually try to fight back.

"We are Death, and we have come to claim you." sounded from the five Destroyers before they opened fire upon the temple...

The cultists scrambled out of the way of the gauss blasts, but there were too many of them for them all to emerge unscathed. Five of them were blown apart by the green beams of energy as they tried to flee. once they had emerged from the temple, however, it was no longer like shooting fish in a barrel for the necrons, and they soon found their small group surrounded by screaming cultists, who brought an eclectic array of weapons to bear.

Admiral Garviel stood atop the bridge of his Titan Class Battlebarge. As he was sending another supply ship down to the surface, the ship's radar officer approached him.

"Sir, we have detected the location of the Hive fleet. Shall we engage?"

"An Executor class Cruiser came across their ships on a patrol."

"What does it constitute?"

After explaining what ships they had, Garviel replied, "Allow me a moment to decide my action."

Although they had first expected a very simple task here, the Necrons weren't very suprised to see the humans take out their primitive array of weaponry. The Destoyers didn't pay attention to the screaming mob and formed a small circle, each of them preparing to fire at anything that attacked or fled. Meanwhile the lone hovering Tomb Spyder was approaching the mob, soaking up bullets and snapping its two metal claws.

While the primitive weapons of the humans weren't any threat on their own, the simple volume of the fire meant the Tomb Spyder's shell was quickly pockmarked with impacts of all kinds of bullets. But right before the eyes of the humans, the metal started reforming itself, covering up the holes and making it seem as if nothing had ever hit the Spyder. Even a smashed eye was immediatly remade by the living metal, and the metal creature continued to hover towards the cultists, planning to take them out in a cruel but efficient way...

The skies were burning.

Roaring from the Immaterium, the immense vessel bore down upon the planet like a symbol of overwhelming doom; the bulk of it flamign with debris from the warp, seething with power and barely contained malice. This was a warship of the Iron Warriors, a symbol of unbreakable will, of dedication to dark devilry and blackest commitment to vengeance. Hatred emanated from every crevice of the huge ship.

Drop pods began to hammer down upon the coordinates designated by the Tzeentchian sorceror; Dreadclaws scarring the skies as they began their thunderous descent. A howl of madness as the Iron Warriors began to hammer down upon the world, birthed from the cruel, metal pods that had carried them down to the war-torn world below.

They had been summoned, and now, they would serve their mighty purpose.

With blood, steel and thunderous might.

Cultists
As the cultists observed the effect (rather, lack thereof) their weapons had on the Tomb Spyder, they turned their fire on the Destoyers, shooting at the circle within their circle. Seemingly unphased by the caualties among them, the cultists continued firing as another five of them fell to the Gauss fire, and an additional two succombed to 'friendly' fire.

The reaction of the Destroyers to the Cultists shooting at them was very simple, being no reaction at all. For the moment they continued firing their Gauss weaponry at them, not concerned about what the cultists and their primitive weaponry were trying to do to them. They simply didn't care...

...untill a lucky shot shattered the metal skull of one of the Destroyers, sending it falling down to the ground. After lying on the ground for a while - and being pockmarked with bullets by the cultists (just in case...) - the metal corpse melted away, leaving behind a silver coloured puddle which started slithering towards the Tomb Spyder. When it reached it, many tiny arms from the underbelly of the Spyder reached out and started working on the metal, while the Spyder itself was almost in contact with the cultists...

In Orbit

The Hive Fleet splinter turned slowly to examine the human force, a mass of bio-ships armed with explosive spores and tentacles, within the great ships thousands of Tyranids lurked. Leviathans and Razorfiends made up the core of the fleet while Prowlers and Stalkers floated in much greater numbers along the edges.

Plains

The Scarred one tumbled back from the nasty blow the Ork it opposed, yet had it been a human it would been smiling. Both the combatants were bleeding but the Tyranid's blood was another weapon and it's hyper-active regenerative system had already began to knit together broken carapace and torn muscle. Aside from that the ever-present will of the hive-mind ment that even if entire limbs were hacked off or they would regenerate.
The Ork too was hardy, even with broken bones and ripped muscle he could have continued the fight so the acid burns and gashes were not so much of a threat.
All around the battle was getting hotter, on one side a Hormagaunt leapt onto an Ork; a moment latter he was hacked apart but not before he thrust his feeder tendrils into the Orks throat.
On another side three more Hormagaunts were gunned down by Orkish weapons while Termagants continued their barages of acid and flesh-eating insects.

Above Terror tucked in it's wings and dove down toward the battle; readying its bio-sword and other weapons. It's squadron of Gargoyles staying high to rain down bio-weapon fire upon the Orks.

((I guess these things happen, good luck and have fun))

Plains

With a great gout of acidic vomit the Scarred One leapt forward, Ork choppa meeting it's spike-like barbed lower limbs, the Ork beat it's flamer-arm agaisnt the Scarred One and kept up hacking with it's choppa, even as acid burned it's chest and lower throat.
With a sound of primal rage the Scarred One launched it's maw against the Ork's throat, a sickening sound of ripping flesh echoed as it tore free the green bests windpipe. Lower one barbed limb was half embedded inthe orks chest while the other was keeping the flamer kept at a distance, Ork choppa held above the Scarred One's head, held their by the clawed hand of the Tyranid warrior.

The Scarred One wrenched its spiked limb out of the Ork's chest and let the beast fall to the ground with a loud thud, the warrior was bleeded fromseveral deep wounds but they would heal, it was already doing so in fact, the small scrapes closing before one's very eyes. The hand that had been burned off would also mutate into something effective within a short time, maybe a spike or a club or a bony scyth blade.
To one side one of the massive tanks exploded, sending Hormagaunts flying as well as Orks, some didn't get up again.

The sound of tearing metal filled the air as the Broodlord ripped a hole in the turret of the tank, comparable to a daemon in strength it had had little trouble reduced the armaments to scrap.
Already half a dozen Ork corpses lay around the tank, and more greenskinned bodies fell as the Broodlord pulled them out of the tank and ripped them apart.

Still the fight was not yet over, even as Orks fell to beetles that consumed masses of flesh with seconds, even as acid reduced others to piles of flashy goo, other Orks still fought wildly, one hacked through a Hormagaunt and blasted another down to go down to another 'gaunt leaping on it's back tearing into it's spine.

Here a knot of Orks beat back a pack of Gaunts, there a single Ork managed to fight off several 'Gaunts.
But with the Broodlord standing the 'Gaunts had even greater resilence to being put down permanently. One charging Hormagaunt had its arm, leg and part of it's chest blown off, only to hobble back up with a hiss and lunge into battle again.
Not that it really mattered, eventually the Tyranid dead would be reduced to bio-matter soup.
With a cry the Scarred One through itself into the tail ends of combat.
