"Commander: I have just been handed a report stating that a UMS strike force has entered our space. Looks like our scout ship picked up some good readings before it was detected and had to warp out. There are detailed scans, seems to be a standard wedge formation, a small frigate leading, a slightly larger frigate trailing, a pair of destroyers flanking. The destroyers' configurations are not consistent with the UMS Night Stalker which we recovered a few months ago, however sensor readings indicate that they have the same basic armament and overall capabilities as the Night Stalker. An unknown vessel in a warp-capable carrier-type configuration has been spotted near the center. We have identified a deployed wing of Burner fighters, and they are also launching a never before seen, slightly smaller fighter from a central, most likely command or battleship-type vessel. In front of the central vessel, 3 new corvette class vessels, similar in size to our own Stryker-class raiders have been identified, although they do not appear to have warp capability, a bracket of some kind is clearly visible on these zoomed in images. No doubt they have now perfected their warp-speed towing technique. It should also be noted that the central command / battleship has no warp engines, and it must have been towed as well since it had to have traveled at least 12 AU to reach our border. Oh, lastly is a large cruiser type vessel similar to those we have encountered before, it seems to be the most capable of the small strike force and has taken up position over the rest of the enemy vessels" the tactical officer advised Seville, commander of the Phoenix Fleet
"Ensign! Put me on Fleetwide!" The commander shouted to the communications officer
"Channel open, Sir" she replied
"This is Seville to all ships, set your course for Sierra Alpha Five Eight and prepare to engage at warp 9 on our lead. We have multiple incoming UMS contacts, all ships weapons free, pick your targets and open fire once in range. Seville out" he ordered.
And with that the 2nd Fleet, which was actually "Assault Force 23" combined with the "1st Command Armada" warped out of the system and toward the incoming UMS fleet at maximum warp.
Fleet Intelligence had finally decided the UMS was more than a "moderate" threat, after the destruction of the Tarsonis moon base 2 months ago, the UMS proved they were a force to be reckoned with. A full battle fleet this close to the border was a clear act of war. If they had just continued their occasional raids, acts of piracy and small-scale terrorism, Fleet Command would never pay them the distinction of a full Battle Fleet. But now too many citizens of The Phoenix Militia had died and the time for ultimate vengeance was fast approaching. Field Marshall Maxim Seville himself would lead the strike force of Phoenix Class Battleships, Vrelck and Spartan (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Spartan_Class_Cruiser) Class Cruisers, Avenger, Devastator and Knight (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Knight_Class_Destroyer) Class Destroyers along with dozens of smaler vessels and thousands of fighters, onboard the one of a kind Ultra Phoenix Battleship.
"This is Lieutenant Kinnick of the scoutship Zipper, UMS vessels are retreating, shall I track them or rejoin the Fleet?"
Keep your distance but do not lose them, we are going to hold at the border until Task Force 17 gets here. the Executive Officer responded from the bridge of the Ultra Phoenix.
25 minutes later, Task Force 17, which consisted of a destroyer screen, 2 carrier Task-Groups and a frigate line met up with the 2nd Fleet on the border.
"Under command authority 2-10, As supreme commander I hereby order all ships within range to consolidate under my command as the First Fleet." Seville ordered.
The 1st Fleet of the Imperial Vanguard of The Phoenix Militia (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/The_Phoenix_Militia) closed in on the system, dropping out of warp on the outer edge of the system, and moving in slowly, menacingly toward the planet, deep in sector 9, which was long suspected to be both the homeworld and main military base for the UMS.
"I am detecting at least 10 wings of fighters, and what looks like their whole fleet. One thing is certain, they have assembled more ships in one place than we have ever seen before, they are in their standard close formation, in high orbit of thier homeworld, I am also detecting 42 orbital defense platforms, at least 6 space stations and numerous other small satellites." The sensor officer reported
"This is it" the XO decided.
"Ensign, signal the fleet to follow us in, Helmsman! set wedge formation and then give me maneuver control once we are within weapons range, Lieutenant, match your firing pattern to my movements, and charge your weapons to 125%. Engineering, activate the secondary power core, have your damage control teams placed on standby throughout the ship. All hands prepare for combat." Field Marshall Maxim Seville ordered.
"We are in range, Sir" The Tactical officer announced.
"Scanning targets, they are opening bay doors... missile launch detected." Warned the sensor officer.
"Lock target, this is Seville to all ships, engage and destroy UMS ships at will." Seville commanded after tapping the comm panel.
"Firing full spread of torpedoes, combat mix alpha." said the Tactical officer.
"Stand by to follow it up with a disruptor run, and prime dorsal tubes for a spread of Quantum torpedoes, then I will line up the rear tubes for a tight spread of Longbolt torpedoes, are you with me, Lieutenant?!" said Seville.
"Aye sir, right with you, I've got 'em in my sights, tally ho!" the Tactical officer replied.
The flagship rolled and turned like a nimble fighter, even though it was nine hundred and ninety nine meters long. After the torpedo spread disabled the first target, which appeared to be a command vessel, since it was the largest ship and centrally located in the enemy formation, disruptors blasted holes in the hull, the second volley from the dorsal and aft torpedo tubes, coupled with 360 degree phaser fire destroyed the ship before the single, brilliant looping maneuver was even completely finished.
The UMS fleet was quickly torn apart in an equally impressive display of firepower from the rest of the fleet. The debris from enemy ships glowed against the black of space, plasma fires, explosions and spewing gas accented the starscape with an array of different colors.
For the first time in five hundred years not one UMS ship, station or satellite orbited the sky. Soon the morning sky was blackened with the silhouette of the Phoenix fleet, entering low orbit, others descended lower into the atmosphere, bright fire trials illuminating the outline of the black ships. Ground based defense emplacements fired in vain at the incoming fleet, only a few shots could be fired before the orbiting cruisers opened up and silenced the defense batteries with a wide spread tri-cobalt bombs and pin-point accurate hornet cannons. In less than 20 minutes, the invasion force would arrive and began landing ground forces by the thousands.
"The Flag of the Empire shall soon fly over their capital and the rivers will run RED with the blood of those UMS savages!" Seville proclaimed as he looked upon the smoking ruins of the UMS fleet from the bridge of the Ultra Phoenix Battleship (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v293/grunt74/phx.jpg).
Home Planet: R-4053 (assumed)

First Contact: October 4th, 2499, raid in sector 9, UMS aggressor.

3 days later
It appears we have decimated their military, and resistance is dying down but there are far fewer people on this planet than our initial scans showed us, when the fighting started they deployed jamming measures to block our scans, but those were all disabled or countered within the first few hours. Our first scan before the attack, from the Zipper, showed 1,298,220,343 people. We killed about 20,000 on the ground and we have taken about five million prisoners. That means there should be about 1 billion two hundred ninety million people on the surface, but now we are only detecting like 100 million!
So we're missing...
A billion people... right...
What if they escaped in cloaked ships?
We saw their cloaking technology, it was crude, I wouldn't even dignify it, calling it a cloak, it was stealth technology at best, and even then they were only able to use it with a small ship for a short time, plus we detected and destroyed it easily.
Dr Abbamas might have been right, their cloaking field might be directly proportional to their power source.
So a big ship with a big power source might be alot easier to cloak than a little fighter job...
But everything WE know about cloaking technology is the opposite of that, the smaller the ship the easier to cloak
That's only with our system, there is no evidence anything that they use is like our stuff, I don't see why their cloaking tech would be any different...
These people are primitive compared to us, projectile weapons, low powered laser beam weapons, missiles powered with chemical rockets. their most powerful weapons are hydrogen bombs! They can't have cloaking technology or even high-tech jamming on their own!
I agree, they must have had outside help... a sponsor...
[[OOC: Someone can help the UMS refugees or even be the ones who helped them escape..]]
