"This is your next assingment." Her boss told her.

She hopped on a plan, and arrived in Havana. It seemed like a two-sided trip, part vacation part work.

"This conference should prove interesting", she thought to herself.

As the white 737 touched down at the Jose Marti International Airport, it was taxiid to a private terminal. The An-124 was led to a private hangar. Upon entrance the hangar doors were closed and the internal flourescent lights were activated. Military advisors and guards supervised the unloading of the trucks. Military engineers and technicians searched the trucks before finally passing the trucks through what appeared to be a giant metal detector. The trucks were then led, with their accompanying personnel, via a military convoy to a warehouse adjacent to the conference center.

Lord High Imperator Yriel ascended the steps onto the plinth in the conference room, settled himself, and began his address. "Ladies and gentlemen" the microphone eminated with admirable resonance "It is my intention in the following weeks to ensure the economic future of our nation in the following century. We are forced to the conlcusion that the use of fossil fuels is neother morally, nor economically, defensible, and thus attend this conference with an eye towards procuring a viable alternative fuel for the Blessed Chris. We hope both to secure the economic, and environmental sustainability of the blessed Chris, and have high hopes of a successsful resolution."

"Empress, is there anything specifically you want me to say?"

"Nothing comes to mind, Jovan. Just do your best. Okay?"

"Yes Empress. I'll talk to you soon. Bye."

And with that, he hung up the phone just minutes before the plane landed.

Antonov Khruschev arrived via a corporate jet from the Soviet Union, where he had taken care of some business matters. He felt it good to be back in Cuba, even though he was Soviet-born. Cuba was his home now. He disembarked the jet and met with his staff on the tarmac.

"Antonov, I invited a Mr. Carter representing the Aztec National League to the conference," Carlos Delgado, President of R&D said, "I offered him a VIP pass."

"Muy bien, Carlos," Antonov said as he reviewed the attending list for the conference, "Well, let us mingle. I believe my opening speech can wait a day or two while we shake and grin."

The YMJOC staff climbed into a nearby limousine. It travelled to the conference center with only a black hybrid SUV following behind with a security detail. At the conference center, Antonov and Carlos disembarked while the rest of the staff and their luggage would check in at a VIP suite in the Comodoro Hotel. Antonov and Carlos were exquisitely dressed in the height of fashion, Carlos wearing a charcoal-gray two-button suit with thing pinstripes. He was wearing a light blue shirt and a yellow and light-blue swirl tie. Antonov was wearing a black three-button suit with a light, lime-green shirt underneath and unbuttoned. He and Carlos were to make their rounds about the conference center, greeting those who had arrived so far.

OOC: Come up to them, as I do not know where in the Center you all will be.

Tolliver had watched the early broadcasts of the conference and began his speech.

"The Blessed Chris stands before this conference today and talks of how they find the use of fossil fuels morally indefensible. I wonder then, if Lord Imperator Yriel will explain to everyone here, why his nation is currently involved in military operations in Hydac with the aim of forcibly taking control of our oil reserves?"

Yriel was ired at the daring of the minister, wondering what prompted him to question his entirely clement message, and in an instant decided to remain apolitical at this juncture. Giving the minister a blank, entirely illegible stare, he merely pronounced " The military exploits of my nation are immaterial in relation to this conference, however I can inform you that our presence in Hydac is motivated by an entirely seperate concern. Good day to you". With that dismissal, Yriel stood up, thanked the journalists for their time, and left the room.

Kieran Dagher had been observing the opening statement of Yriel. She had agreed about finding alternate fuels but could not understand the moral implications of the carbon based fuels. She aproached Yriel as he stood in the corridor.

"Good day sir. I am Kieran Dagher, the environment minister for Londim. I agree whole heartedly with your search for alternate fuels but please just explain to me the moral part of the subject. I do not fully understand."

Antonov continued walking the lengths of corridor. He discreetly looked around while he took a sip of water from a water fountain. Luckily, no one was approaching him for a greeting. He straightened and reached into his jacket, withdrawing a keycard. "Let's go, Carlos." He slid the keycard through the reader adjacent to the door next to the water fountain. The green light illuminated and a clicking was heard. Antonov turned the doorknob and began walking up a set of carpeted stairs immediately behind the door. Carlos followed, the door automatically closing behind them and the locking mechanism resetting, the red light illuminating and denying entry.

Antonov and Carlos entered into the lavishly decorated VIP conference room, Antonov's interim office in an adjacent room. He pulled out his handkerchief and pressed it on and off his forehead in different places, "It is much colder in Russia than it is here, Carlos."

"I can imagine, Antonov," Carlos said as he seated himself in a deep leather chair at the large, polished conference table. He loosened his tie and unbottoned his shirt.

Antonov walked over to a water cooler and dispensed himself a glass of water, "Carlos are you thirsty?"

Carlos glanced over and moved his hand in a dismissive gesture.

Antonov collapsed into his chair at the head of the table and sipped at his water, "Ah...Carlos, when will the other board members arrive?"

Carlos shrugged and tapped his pen on the table, "Beats me."

Antonov leaned over and experimented with the conference center's electronics board before finding the intercom system. His assistant walked in moments later.

"Yes, Mr. Khruschev?"

"Maria, when are the other board members due to arrive?"

"We've only received correspondance from MOil, and they did not give us a confirmed date of arrival."

"Ah..very well," Antonov frowned, "Maria, please bring my speech to me in due time. I'd like to review it before I read it."

"Of course, Mr. Khruschev. Anything else?"

"No, gracias, Maria." He watched her leave and shut the door, "Carlos, explain to me these new processes I'm going to be talking about."

Carlos slid his chair over along with his briefcase. He pulled out one stack of papers, "Well boss, this is our newest development regarding Project Brownhouse. We've developed a quicker and more energy efficient way to retrieve the oil shale using the..........."

Antonov Khruschev and Carlos Delgado left their hotel room accompanied by six black-suited security personnel. Following close behind were their secretaries and lower staff members. Antonov chatted gaily about the beautiful weather they were having as they descended to the lobby in the elevator.

In the lobby, four security guards had cleared the lobby and four more waited outside. Antonov greeted each by name as he strolled through the lobby and out the door. Accompanied now by 14 security guards and staff, Antonov strode down the sidewalk of the pristine street towards the conference center.

The sun greatly warmed the back of Antonov’s black pin-stripe suit, the only reprieve being the blue and white-pinstriped shirt underneath which he left unbuttoned. He preferred to think of himself as a new-age businessman. His left hand ran through his rather wavy brown hair, which had lightened in the summer months. He was told he had a few grays hidden away in there, too. No matter. He glanced to his side through his blue-tinted sunglasses at his President of R&D Carlos Delgado. Antonov liked him. He was a very capable man and an incredibly strong leader in the presence of his engineers and technicians. He was not a public speaker, no, latin American modestly ran through his blood. Antonov had hand-picked Carlos from a company that Yukos/MOil Joint Oil Conglomerate had subsidized a few years ago. Carlos showed an amazing talent for filling engineers with ambitions and setting reachable goals. Carlos had shown his vast talent since he was hired. The Yukos/MOil Joint Oil Conglomerate was an incredible source of new technologies that saved time, energy, and manpower.

One of Antonov’s security detail strode ahead and entered the conference center, conversing with the Chief of Security there to make sure the building was secure. Antonov and Carlos entered through a held door into the lavish lobby. He smiled for the reporters and grabbed Carlos and pulled him into the shots. After a couple pictures he graciously apologized, and headed towards the private conference room to have a last look at his speech before he began to read it.

OOC: Considering how I'm joining this a bit late, let's just say that the ANL's delegation is just arriving at the Conference Center...

IC:

If there was one thing that was looked down upon in the ANL, it was the idea of being fashionably late. Of course, they delegation from Aztlán's journey wasn't even considered 24 hours ago, and, if they had missed anything, they were merely formalities and introductory things. However, for the anxious but more sociable Vice Premier, that was already too much missed.

The ANL's delegation arrived at the Conference Center in la Habana. The city had always been a place of interest within the many different cultures of the ANL. In part due to the feeling of solidarity and past alliances, but also, because it was the closest big city outside of the ANL's borders. However, if the group was able to do site seeing, it would be afterwards.

The four people got out of the car and walked into the large edifice. With their VIP credentials, the four continued walking. John Carter started off by saying, "I'm glad to have gotten off that plane...I hate flying."

The other two laughed slightly, as it was well known how much the Economics Minister hated air travel...The Vice Premier however, stopped and said, "Ah, here we go, Grand Conference Room this way."

It was only a short jaunt and within five minutes the four took their seats at the delegation...Jokingly, Coyotepec said, "Last to arrive, first to sit."
