Bottom up!

Orders Aircraft, starts militia

In an unpredicented move today, the Ministry of Defence unveiled today plans for the formation of a “Homeland Defence Militia”, in an effort to increase both the number of trained pilots, and the amount of support that the Military has in the public.

Air Marshall O’Connel had this to say in our interview, while sipping black coffee from his NAS (Northfordian Air Service) Tankard:

“This is landmark victory for those in Northford. For many months now, the Air Force has been lacking funds, being reduced to being merely porters for Diplomats and the occasional military dignitary. With this, we can start training people from the bottom up, and, over a number of years, build up a solid core of hardened Veterans who will help lay the foundation for a modern Northfordian Airforce.”

So, I hear you say, what is “this”?

“This” is a recent purchase of 700CFT-3E Super Hawks by the NAS. Designed to be a everything from a trainer plane for frontline troops, a “fun” plane for Cadets, and a “Reserve” plane for Militias, the CFT-3E Super Hawk is to provide Northford with an ability to get planes “in the air” whenever or wherever in the Northfordian Land mass.

The CFT-3E Super Hawk is really quite an amazing plane. Costing only 11 Million Universal Standard Dollars, and armed with a 20mm Gatling, and, course hardpoints to mount missiles. For the Civilian models, missiles will not be fitted, and the Gatling will be rendered inoperable.

The cost for the order came to 8.25 Billion and it included 750 craft, which will be paid for over 4 years, in monthly instalments. A deal has also been struck, to allow the Commonwealth to purchase 1000 more craft, should they be deemed necessary.

Details of their delivery are not clear. But they are expected to be sent from Strathdonia over a period of months. Strathdonia have not been available for comment

We hope the planes will make a great edition to the Northfordian Defence Forces.

[OOC: It's a nice article Northford, but why name the thread after the name of the paper itself? Why not make one newspaper thread detailing all your articles and in the future name your media threads after the newspaper articles themselves?]

Thats actually a very good idea. To be honest, I was going to amke the article a fair bit longer, and actually a develop it some more, but I've not been feeling great the last couple of days (got mildly concussed playing footie(soccer), and getting a ball to the head), so decided to cut it short...

I think (if)after Strathdonia gives me an IC confirmation of this (we've been sorting this out on the draftroom), I might provide links to all my previous news stories, and make this the de-facto news thread from now on.

Thanks for the positive feedback

OOC: Sorry for the long delay i have been on holiday. You Don't have to called it the CFT-3E that is the original Crookfur service designation but if you want to use it feel free. Oh and this might get confusing but ICly all my sales are done under the "Crookfur Consultancies" banner.

IC:
Extract from the Strathdonian Times
In an Quarterly progress report Crookfur Consultancies have released bouyant sales figures boosted msot notably with the securing of the Contract to supply the Northford Air Service with a sizable quantity of CFT-3E Super Hawk light fighter/ trainer aircraft. Crookfur Consultancies have failed to disclose the exact number of aircraft involved in the contract but sources have made estiamtes in the 850-1000 range.
