The Horde Of Doom
12-06-2006, 21:14
Far, far off in a lonely corner of space, a wormhole slowly turned. If one were to fly into it, and follow it, one would reach the heart of the Horde.

It was a wondeful dimension, the god sun Korgoth shining everywhere, no darkness of any kind allowed in his domain. Ancient heros battled all day, unable to die, and feasted on much food. After a dinner more plentiful then any other, the heros would retire with four of the most wonderful women and enjoy a night that would last 1,000 years. They would live like this forever.

It was the ideal of Hordian to live in this place. A Hordian ship could "sink" into this dimension at will, but no living material could survive. So everytime a ship sank to travel to another area of space, they were taunted with this heaven.

This dimension, Moskau as it was called, had been attacked before by a strange alien force. This war that nearly wiped out the Horde ended the days of independent pirate fleets, ruling as they see fit, and a level of liberty unknown to most creatures. Security for Heaven was their prime goal, and they would scarifice everything to be assured their eternal pleasure would not be cut short.

A leader was chosen, a Kaptain more powerful then any other, and named the Khan of the Horde. He alone was the final voice, and his word was law. But when such power is given to one man...a successor could ruin everything.

And so this Khan was modified without his consent, waking one morning to find he would never sleep again. To find his eyes no longer saw the same thing again. To find, that he was no longer among the ranks of the "natural." He had been enslaved by the "black sciences" and transformed into an undead shell of a man. Half man, half machine, a mind that had been cooled of all remorse or pity stared out among the stars.

For thousands of years, he had fooled the entire universe into thinking the Horde was nothing more then rogue pilot fleets with no central authority. In fact, no creature had ever seen the face of a Hordian, and no creature knew what one really was.

Now every fleet was returning to Moskau, and preparing for the reveal of the Khan to the universe.

(Going away till the 28th! Until then, just know the Horde is about to change!)

OOC: I'm back! And you can join in, but this is just the intro thread. War and plunder will come later.

IC:

Thunder ripped across the Ether, darkening the sky above. A single citadel hovered in the dimensional wind, only miles from the Temple of Korgoth. This citadel had no windows or doors, it's sole "living" inhabitant locked inside forever. There lay only one room inside this citadel, which reached some 400 feet into the celingless sky. This room was surronded by machines, machines and sciences forbidden by the Horde. Information keepers, geneticists, mind slaves, and other vile automatons scuttered across the floor of the room, like roaches under a light. They tended the room, while their minds scanned almost every amount of information in the universe. They studied the ships of the Horde, scanned ancient documents, and gave orders to the Horde.

But the Horde was not ruled by this ineffective machine-slave class. No, in this very room, lit only by the green glow of the machines around him, lies in his throne...the Khan. (http://loresdelsith.net/universo/aliens/bin/skako02.jpg) Once, eons ago, he was a normal Hordian warlord. His great act was bonding together all the unruly pirate fleets into one nation. So impressed were the people of the Horde, for unification had not occured since the age of Korgoth, that they had him captured, flayed alive, and augmented with machines that would increase his benovolence to the level of a God.

Now more machine then organic, he was imprisioned in this citadel, forced to rule over the Horde for eternity. His intellect, now cool and vast, easily used the Horde as an extension of himself. The Horde became overnight a secretive race, refusing to allow any Xeno to know their true face. As far as the Universe is concerned, there is no Horde of Doom. Moskau, only a gateway world, is on no map. The Ether in which their ships travel is accessible only to the Horde. In every instance where the Horde was encountered, they simply pretended to be another race.

But why has the Horde been stirred now?

Something has been discovered by the Khan's machine slaves. A ancient text on a lost planet, that holds the secrets of the universe. With this knowledge the Khan could now the precise workings of the universe, how to reverse it, and perhaps how to exploit it. The possibilities were astounding. And so the Horde prepared to move. Every ship was now in search of the planet, and each Krew had been told to use all means neccessary to capture the document.

And so the terror began.
