I thought so at first, but as it's a survey for a possible rp, I decided otherwise.

Eddings is not a particularly unversal setting which most people have read or know about on some level. Middle Earth, Star Wars, Star Trek, are for example.

Sad yet true, do you read David Eddings?

I have read most of Edding's works, and I have to say, the story line is always pretty much the same. I am only thankful that in the Redemption of Althalus he changed from a gemstone or I would have lost all faith.

Loved the Belgariad though, one of my all-time favourites. It is just the rest that makes me wince slightly.

But technacily The Orb of Aldur is not a gem, its a river stone.

It is a gem, it was the second half of the Sardion, and since that was a gemstone, it too must have been a gem.

Ahhh, but the Orb of Aldur was simply a stone the was infused with the spirirt of Aldur, it was never a gemstone.

Your probably thinking of The Bhelliom.

It was a gemstone, see my above point. Granted there was no mention in the Belgariad, however the issue is resolved in the Mallorean.

Where's the option for "Post this in general where it belongs"?

That issue has been addressed.

You could use Eddings as your nations past tech setting, however, it would be very hard to get the other players to fit in with the setting. I have read Eddings, it is entertaining in a mild way, I like my fantasy to be a bit more literary like Gene Wolf, M. John Harrison, Lord Dunsany, John Crowley, etc.
