Mercosis

OOC:This is just an attempt to RP the internal politicals of my nation. I'm new to RPing, so I apologise in advance for anything that doesn't make sense
Here goes...
The Federation of Mercosis is not strictly a unified nation. Really, it is a collection of arrogant nobles who have recently decided to temporarily stop killing each other. Anyone with land, an army and a huge ego can become a ‘noble’ in the Mercodian Parliament. Although, technically any noble can apply for a senior post, it is usually one of the more powerful landowners who becomes Chancellor or Lord of the Treasury. Traditionally it was the Princes of Stolz who took the position of Chancellor, but the last election yielded a landslide victory for Count Verrück of Ungeheuer. The Counts of Ungeheuer, who held the greatest territory in Mercosis, were usually content to stay out of the political limelight unless their wealth or land holdings were threatened. This shift of power promises huge changes, not only the removal of the arrogant Princes of Stolz from major political power but the introduction of a dictatorial rulership in disguise. To a casual observer it may seem that little has changed in Mercodian society, but an in-depth look reveals the truth. Count Verrück and his supporters in the Mercodian Parliament have passed a bill banning freedom of speech and media, the first use of which was to ban media coverage of the bill ever being passed. Many opposed to Verrück, oblivious to the new laws, have simply disappeared courtesy of the newly formed Commissariat, a form of political police not dissimilar to the Gestapo or the NKVD.
However not all of Mercosis is prepared to accept the domination of Ungeheuer; Duke Bergen of Bauereich and a number of other nobles attempt to thwart Verrück in Parliament as often as possible. Both men control large portions of the Federation army, have popular support and hate each other.
