Which tech am I?

Vashtiki:

A nation governed by a religion, a "cult". They draw upon arcane powers in battle and in times of peace. Non believers are experimented upon and killed as a result, and the whole culture is filled with death, sarcrificial and war caused.

So, thats the nation. The guards of the religion ("Knights of the Vash Order") are basically to be the soldiers. However, they could be adapted to be in a tech you wouldnt think they would be in. What tech would that make me? I was thinking PT, but the major problem with that is getting an RP started. The major problem with MT is that the whole kind of mystery and culture would change for the worse. PMT is no go I think, and FT is the second best possibility in my bmind.

But I set this up to ask you for your opinion, not as a thinkpad for my own devices. So, what tech do you think I would be most suited to?

Magitech, the new term for any fantasy player not in an ancient setting.

Ah right, long time since Ive been around these parts. Has this taken off yet or is it still seen as a bit dodgy by most RPers?

The one problem I was going to have with PT, as I said, was not getting an RP started. This sounds like the perfect tech.

Sorry for the double post, but the magic isnt necessarily ancient, but its kind of like a dying knighthood. This could arguably be today, or it could be 1500's type timeframe.

theres enough 'jedi' type nations around in future tech so your ideas would fit there.

I also don't see a problem with these powers in MT either. i have samurai who still use swords in my nation.

Thing is, this was planned to be all they used. Simple medieval knights. However, as I said, FT is a possibility, what with creation of some kind of sword like a light saber, and armour to match.

Would FT be my best bet then? (be back in 4 and a bit hours, band praccie)

My thought would be;
it fits PT, but most PT at the moment seems to specify NO MAGIC.
So FT is probably the best bet.

There are two derivatives you can use Magitech, or Psitech. Magitech would rely on things like spells and other stuff like that. Psitech would be a mix of pseudoscience, parapsychology, mysticism, and psionic technology.

Many future tech nations will use telepathy and a few other things like that, the force, etc. This is kind of done a little bit, but isn't very well developed.

If you didn't want to go too far from FT, you could use technology like the Protoss in Star Craft, basically psitech without a huge amount of magic.

Most have to have a mythology to draw on to make them work well. This can be religious or other which creates cohesion behind them.

There are several books which can create an excellent background which mixes well with future tech. Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover, Andre Norton's Witch World, Roger Zelazny's Lords of Light, Dan Simmons Ilium, and others. Lords of Light and Ilium are Mythic Tech or superscience. Originally, I did not plan on using this stuff, but when you run into demons, regular tech doesn't work. It makes it interesting to have a small bit of this kind of stuff if you run into uber evil dimensional beings.

There are a few nations about who use a bit of fantasy as a side element of thier nation to fight a sort of "shadow war" that the general populance might not be aware of, thus normal major wars can be fought with the usual tanks and guns but you have your "Super natural" troops fighting hidden battles in a sort of mish mashed X-files, meets Underworld kind of thing.

AMF is a good example as on one hand you have a massive more or less conventional modtech armed forces but on the other you have stories with deamons and magic swords.

To be honest you can work it into most tech as long as you keep thigns compartmentalised.
