This is the United States Newstread for Earth 2015, all announcements about the US and her possesions will be posted here.

2006 Election: The Democrats lose ground in the house making the split grow to 67% to 33%, thanks to a nationwide platform to end corruption, however, the Republicans edge the Democrats in the Senate, 49-40. In a suprising turn of events, the Green Party gets 11 seats in the Senate, making it the first third party to gain that large of a majority in the history of the nation.

2006: Senators Wayne Allard, Senator Bill Frist, and Congressman Tom DeLay create a bill that defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman, outlawing gay marriage. The bill passes in a narrow vote.

2007: Senator John McCain, Joesph Liberman, and Barack Obama create a bill which reforms welfare, which gives cash intatives to former welfare users for getting jobs. It is called the Great Welfare Reform Act

2007: Senators Joe Liberman and Ken Salazar put foward an amendment to the constitutional amendment that allows a president to be automatically dismissed if s/he is convicted of a major felony, it also makes it illegal for the President to pardon himself/herself, as well as pardon members of the Cabnient. The bill is passed in a landslide vote.

2007: Congressmen Gene Taylor and Charlie Melancon write a bill reforming FEMA, reducing the bueracracy, and making it more efficient, and able to handle more severe diasasters. The bill is unanamously passed.

2007: The MS-13 gang becomes the most powerful gang in the United States. They control most of the drug trade in Miami, New Orleans, Annapolis, Washington, D.C, and Tampa.

2007: Democrats filibuster the Supreme Court nominee John Cornyn. He is struck down by a coalition of Green and Democrats, with the charge being led by Senators Barack Obama and Ken Salazar get appointed.

2007: The Supreme Court finds School-sponsored Mormon seminaries to be unconsititutional in Day v. the Utah Board of Education.

2007: The Hispanic population becomes the largest minority in the United States.

Election 2008: Republican John McCain and his running mate, Colin Powell make up the first multi-racial presidential ticket when they beat Joesph Biden and Joe Liberman. The results of the election give the mandate to McCain with 61% of the popular vote, and the Biden loses with a 34% minority. The Democrats take the Senate with a uniform nationwide platform similar to the 1994 Contract With America by the Republicans. This puts the Senate with the split of 52% for the Democrats, 44 seats for the GOP, and 4 for the Centrist Party. The Power gap in the House is lowered, to 56-44 in favor of the Elephants.

2008: Hurricane Mikey a Catagory 5 devestates Texas, the most destructive hurricane in the history of the United States, however, however the reformed FEMA is able to respond much quicker, with the aid coming within the first 36 hours.

2009: Vice President Colin Powell creates a bill that makes it much easier to combat gangs that control much of the cities. This allows for gangs to be handled like terrorist organizations. This is known unofficially as the MS-13 Act.

2009: Powell creates a special unit to combat the threat posed by MS-13, the Domestic Terrorism and Organized Crime Infiltration Unit within the CIA.

2009: The Supreme Court finds the the Patriot Act unconsitiutional in Obildala v. New York Justice Department.

2010: The Famed humanitarian-rockstar Bono is gunned down after a concert in Seattle, by a Sudanese terrorist, that year, he is given the Nobel Peace Prize posthumonously.

2010: The Super Bowl is bombed by Pakistianian terrorists, in response to the actions that the United States took in their country.

Election 2010: The Democrats keep their majority in the Senate, with 523 percent, the GOP drops to 42 seats, and the Centrists win five seats.

2011: Roe v. Wade overturned in Miller v. Smitty

2011: President McCain announces that the third stage of the Iraq War has been achieved, the pullout stage, his plan is for the USA to be out by 2018

2012: The United States signs a treaty with Mexico, allowing the US to pump money into the Mexican border police, as well as allow the US jurisdiction over border towns.

Election 2012: McCain and Powell win a second term over Hillary Clinton and her running mate, Tom Dashale. The Centrists gain 19 seats in the Senate, the Democrats drop to 42 seats, and the GOP drops 30.

2013: On Black Monday, the oil market crashes, sending the economy spiraling downward.

2013: President McCain, along with Senators Ken Salazar, Jeb Bush, and Barack Obama, organize a plan, to make E85 the primary source of fuel by 2018. They also end tariffs on fuel in order to ease the reccession in the sort term.

2014: Recovery begins. In Wonderful Wednesday, the stock market stops sliding, with the first gains since Black Monday.

Election 2014: The Centrist make their first gains in the House, gaining 20 percent of the seats, the GOP gets 42% and the Democrats win 38%

I know I'm not a member of the game anymore, but I feel inclined to ask, are some of these events based on your political beliefs and such (like gay marriage ban, which people in RL increasingly don't want to have happen)?

OOC: It is ok, I am fine with it, a little controversy is good for any RP to get publicity, and the part on gay marriage is not in my beliefs, but many other parts are (Roe v. Wade, Welfare, the need for a third party, etc.
