OOC- This is a dinosaur RP. If your interested, see the ooc thread for details.

IC- Gull Island. A large island city of the coast of the United States, located in the Atlantic Ocean. It was a thriving city, full of casinos, tourist traps, and beaches. However, the city had fallen silent. The festival for it's 40th Anniversity was supposed to be broadcasted across the US, but no transmission was recieved. For days, the government tried to make contact. Finally, on the fifth day after the city stopped it's activity, the government sent in a crack Search and Rescue squad to investigate. The chopper was now flying them there. Rick Waters sat, looking out at the ocean. He held his M4 tight. This mission was an odd one. Never before had a city stopped everything. It was most likely terrorists. If it was, then the SR squad would have to report back to the capital, then the city would have to be taken back by force. The island was now in sight.

OOC- I'll be controlling a group of NPC's. Also, Old ATlantia and I will be co-captains in this RP.

Several Days Earlier

The Casion was busing with life. Lilly Honda was a waitress, serving the customers, at sit-down-to-eat tables or at the gambeling tables.

Finally her work ended, and she could go home. Exausted she took a quick shower, and went to bed. The time read 12:30 A.M. A thund shook her awake.

She assumed it was thunder and proceeded to go back to sleep. But the thuds kept going. She looked at her glass of water, there we're ripples.

She got out of bed, along with her parents and younger brother

"What is that?"

They all went outside to look. The trees we're rustling, and out came a monster. A Massive T-Rex.

"What the? That's impossible?!"

All looked at it with fear. The T-Rex let out it's mighty roar.

"Everyone back in the house! Get in."

They went into the house, but a tail slammed through the wall, sending a pile of debries on Lilly. The T-Rex attacked with viggor, eating several other people.

Presnet Time

Lilly woke from her constant nightmares of that night. She was alone now, searching for her parents hoping they may be alive. She flet it was unlikely. She treaded on with the shotgun on her back.

Andrew Kates looked over his G36-SD, slipped in the magizine, then cocked the weapon. He wore equipment similar to S.W.A.T gear, Kevlar helmet, Vest, Goggles resting on his helmet, his uniform was in Urban cammo, On his right leg a 50.Cal chrome magnum was resting in a holster, on his left leg a HK P3000,

"I wonder whats going on out there commander, seems awful strange that they havn't made any contact at all.."

Kates strained his eyes at the island as it came into veiw,

"God damn terriorists,"

Andrew reached into his tack vest and withdrew a pack of gum from a small zipper pocket, he tossed one in his mouth and started to chew..

"Any body else?" He grinned....

She’d been lucky to find the concrete water tank. Even luckier there was no water inside. It had been her home now for 5 days.

The house outside had been totally trashed. The walls on two sides had been stoved in and the roof had collapsed. Some sort of feather-less, wingless birds had made their home there. Just as well they left her alone. Every time one of them saw her they screeched and ran for cover into the ruins. A metre and half high, they had arms where they should have had wings. By day they sortied into the surrounding forest to hunt for fruit and nuts. By night they returned, singing and screeching and fighting.

Truly she had been lucky. This part of the forest was too dense for the really big creatures. She could eat the fruit and nuts herself. But how to get out? Once she left the cover of the forest…. sildwyni did not want to think about that.

It was supposed to be a mountaineering holiday. Mount Goldstein had been the lure. She and her brothers had ascended the peak. Only sildwyni had got down alive. The mountain hadn’t claimed xrieu or etran, the gigantic upright reptiles had. The website hadn’t mentioned them.

Tesk sat on top a tree, his sniper rifle searching. He had been told the sniper rifle was the reason he got to come. Something raced across the crosshair, "What the hell". "Commander, I think we may have contact, there, again, damn those terrerests are small, quick bastards to". "Wait, what the hell, is that a tail"? "What the hell is going on"? "Commander, I think someone should check this out".

The helicopter landed and dropped the group of in the city square. "Alright everyone, stick together. If there are terrorists, we won't be able to out shoot them. Follow me." The group walked through the dark, empty city streets, not knowing that something was watching them.

OOC- We jsut landed on the island. Only civilians could have seen anything yet.

The idea came to sildwyni out of sheer boredom. The woop-screechers (as she had come to call them) couldn’t climb trees. This she had discovered by following them that day. The tedium of the water tank had been hell. Like all Errinundrians, sildwyni lacked patience. Also typical of her country folk she was a veritable monkey in the trees. Indeed, most Errinundrians lived in trees. She had followed the woop-screechers as they foraged on the jungle floor. From on high she learned they ate berries and shoots from the many bushes growing in a tangle between the giant buttresses. Their favourite food, however, was a mango-like fruit they could only eat when it fell to the ground from the imperious trees. She had to admit it had a ripper taste. One particular tree drew them like flies to jackfruit.

sildwyni tossed one of the fruit down to them. An infant looked up and saw her. It’s “woop-woop-errrch” was soon joined by the rest of the mob. In a panic they all jumped up and down on the spot, wooping and screaching. “How on earth could that help them,” she thought, “if there were real danger?” She tossed another piece of fruit. One of the dancing troup picked it up. They all looked up and stopped still.

Kates moved tacticly behind the S&R commander Rick Waters, he shifted his G36-SD left to right waiting for contact,

"Commander, it's too quiet..."

Kates switched off his MP3 player that he was listening to on low, he liked to hear his heavy metal music when he was in a heated up situation. He glanced back at the rest of the team following,

"Keep er' tight boys..common..contact..contact contact.."

He smirked, Kates always enjoyed a good firefight.

Burton remebered the of the attack... It was rainy, kinda like Jurassic Park he had been thinking. Forshadowing he thought. His fellow mercenaries had been riding in the car, when it turned over. Within seconds, the top of the car was ripped off by a T-Rex, and two of his buddies were gobbled-up, barely making a mouthful for the Rex. He ran next to his co-worker, and the T-Rex gained ground, when his freind got cut in the leg by a car fragment. He tripped over, and the Rex came close. Burton continued to drag his freind along, but the Rex was closing in. His buddy gave Burton a nod, and he dropped him, looking behing him, he saw the Rex swallow his freind whole...

That was long behind him now. The first thing Burton did was raid a deserted weapons shop for guns, aquiring considerable ammunition, and departing. He ran into the local super market, and grabbed a large box of candy wrappers, and was about to depart, when two Velociraptors showed up. He ran for he SAW, letting the first one have it, then watching the second one scamper-off. "Mindless animals" he said "almost human..."

Burton slashed throught the jugle with his machete, shaking his head.

James didn't know why the radio had cut out on him. He didn't know why he still couldn't reach his friends on the Island so many days later. All he knew was that just before it had cut out, he had heard his friends shout, "Raptors!"

Now he was maneuvering his small sailboat towards the Island, looking for the home his buddies had built. It had taken him days of tacking to reach the Island, but now, here he was.

Francis sat in his office, chair in front of the door. The rest of his business partners had been eaten alive by a pack of man-like lizards. Raptors The grenades had only killed a couple, and now he wa sleft alone, with only his FAMAS, two pistols, and his knife. Then, an idea hit him. Slowly, he ripped a wire off of his computer. It sparked electricity. Still plugged in, he shoved it through a candy bar. He ran, and opened the door. A raptor lunged, and he jumped. It smelled the candy, however, and bit it. He reeled in pain, and glared at Marseille. He dove through the window, shattering glass. He ran to an abandoned car, a yellow taxi, and closed it. He opened the glove compartment, and saw a key. Excellent. He started teh car, and drove towards the beach. However, he would pass right through the city center.
He skidded to a stop when he saw armed men.

Illyana Kempinski walked with the small group and wondered about how the creatures that had appeared actually got there. She didn't want to trouble the rest of the group, but it seemed painfully obvious that they weren't interested in theories, only results. She once again checked her pistol, the Russian-made design filled her with pride, and she shoved the weapon back into the holster. She was about to ask the leader something when a dinky yellow taxi whipped around and skidded to a stop.

"Well, that is certainly interesting," she said in her light, accented voice. She drew her pistol, clicking off the safety.

The pier came into view as he crossed to the still side of the Island. Dang it Kells, why did you have to put your house on this side? As Jamie started up the motor on his boat.

As he did so, a pack of raptors laying in the brush outside of the walled in house perked up. They where laying in a sunlit ring near the road to the pier. As James brought his boat up beside the pier and tied it off, two of them rushed along the road into the bushes on the other side.

James looked up and saw the tail of the last one as it flitted into the brush. He calmly pulled back and released the bolt, cocking his gun.

As the group continued into the city, a strange sound emerged from the night. Rick looked around, but saw nothing. The, from the black night, came five large lizard-like creatures. He knew what they were immeaditly. Raptors.Utahraptors. He grabbed his M4 and let loose a stream of bullets into the first raptor, effectivlly killing it. The other raptors stopped the head on charge, and start slowly moving around the group.

Feeding the woop-screechers had been a big mistake. Now they wouldn’t leave sildwyni alone. When she tried to sleep in the water tank that night one of the creatures stuck its head in the access hole and let out an almighty howling, yabbering and screeching. The next morning she fled, ears ringing. Gathering her mountaineering gear and pack she left the moment the last reptile had gone off hunting for food.

Safety lay to the west. Never would this quiet, dour woman have imagined that she might long to see a casino. But how to get there? She was still high on a shoulder of Mount Goldstein and had seen from the summit, a hanging lake, hundreds of metres above the valley floor. From her climbing maps she knew that the lake was half way between her current position and safety. The forest cover continued some of the way to the lake but ended in a series of rocky cliffs. The hanging lake was along the cliffs. Her hope was that the forest cover would remain too dense for the giant reptiles and that the cliffs would be too steep for them.

There was swift progress travelling from branch to branch in the giant trees. Only one incident occurred for that entire day: not perilous but disturbing. She had interrupted two birds fighting over an opossum and its young. The birds were distinctly odd, more like bats except they could only, at best, flutter from branch to branch. They had feathers like normal birds but they were beakless and their mouths had tiny, sharp teeth. The wings, too, were strange: there were small but powerful claws along the leading edge.

In a desperate tug-of-war the bat-birds each had a grip on the adult opossum, their sharp teeth firmly locked onto the body while they tried to wrench it from the other or knock their adversary from the tree. Their tenacity in holding onto the body and keeping some sort of grip on the branches was impressive. Four sets of claws each were clearly useful high in the trees.

Eventually the body of the opossum came apart, one bat-bird getting the head and the other, the body. While the successful bird scrambled away to feed the other returned to the marsupial’s nest, a hollow in the tree. The creature stuck its head into the hollow and dragged out a screaming, wriggling baby opossum. A few crunches of the jaws and then the small mammal was swallowed. This was repeated seven more times as the bat-bird cleaned the nest of all its young. The observer was sure this bat-bird had the more substantial meal of the two.

Towards evening sildwyni reached the edge of the forest. The hanging lake was at the outer edge of a small shallow valley that ended in a spectacular precipice above the main valley floor that, in turn, led to the west and the town. Far below she could she vague shapes moving in herds. They must be huge! Where did they all come from? From her slightly elevated position above the hanging lake she could see terrain she must negotiate tomorrow: many hours of rock hopping lay ahead of her.

Then she noticed a thin thread of smoke rising from the hanging valley. This complicated things: sildwyni had confidence in her own ability to get to safety but feared others could make it more difficult. Smoke suggested carelessness.

That was a problem for tomorrow. The small, middle-aged but self-reliant woman retreated a short distance back into the trees for safety. After a quick meal she found a secure fork in an enormous fig tree and fell into a deep sleep.

High in a fork of a regal fig tree sildwyni dreamed she was a young woman of 25.

She stood at the edge of her village on a path that disappeared into the darkness of the trees. The path led to the holy tree of ADITHAH deep in the forest. It was calling her. Her indifferent family and friends watched her leave; none showing the slightest interest in warning or stopping her.

The path dwindled to an overgrown potoroo track as the forest closed around her. The young sildwyni became afraid, stepping cautiously and peering all about. She became aware that four men, not known to her, were following. Her fear grew. She ran.

She saw a figure step on to the path ahead of her. As sildwyni approached, the figure revealed herself to be a beautiful, ageless woman, brown of skin, with deep brown eyes and glossy, straight black hair tied behind. “I will lead you safely to the sacred tree,” said a calm and loving voice. Fear fell away from sildwyni.

In time they arrived at the holy tree. At its base it was as wide as a house. The first massive branches were over a hundred feet from the ground. The brown woman approached the tree and merged into it. The young woman then realised that it was the tree itself that had brought her there and protected her in the forest.

For the first time sildwyni became aware of a buzzing noise that rapidly became louder. She awoke, opening her eyes to a dragonfly just centimetres away from her face. Catch was, this dragonfly had wings one metre from tip to tip. She swatted it. The blow caught the creature on the side of the head and it promptly fell out of the air, as if knocked out.

Horrified that she may have hurt the creature, sildwyni clambered down the tree. The dragonfly was nowhere to be seen. She collected her gear, ate a frugal breakfast and left the forest.

For the moment there was bright sun but rain clouds were approaching. The rain would make the rock hopping more hazardous but it might also deter large predators. She hoped that the terrain itself were sufficient discouragement. It would take a remarkable reptile to pursue her there. Unpacking her waterproof jacket in the temporary sunshine, sildwyni noted a herd of nearly a hundred huge beasts on the valley floor far below. Even from this distance she could see their curving horns and spreading crests.

As the first drops of rain fell sildwyni ran across the short open space to the first dolomite ramparts. Fifteen minutes later only a bird or a goat could have bothered her as she picked her way across the rocks. Well, that’s not strictly true. The heavens opened up. The rain fell. And life became exceedingly bothersome.

James looked up and saw the tail of the last one as it flitted into the brush. He calmly pulled back and released the bolt, cocking his gun.

James took careful aim at where a spot of the Raptor's skin could be seen. Looking through the crude, WWII scope, James drew a bead and fired.

As the report from his gun rang from the walls of Kell's house, the raptor let out a call of pain, followed by the three yelps of the help cry.

James stuck his head up just in time to see another Raptor rushing out of the bushes. James shouldered his gun and fired, catching the raptor in the right arm.

It whirled around and fell to the ground, badly injured, snapping at James' feet. James merely pointed his barrel at the beast's head, and fired.
