Project H - Mobius Skunk Works, Arrival
Dr Curtis Brenner arrived in the Mobius system via the jump gate; the familiar blue vortex spewing the shuttle out from Hyperspace and back into real space the shuttle turned towards the planet and began its approach. The planet Mobius was a desolate world; mostly wasteland however Mobius was home to the Animarnia weapons testing range and Skunk works. Any weapon or ship that was to be deployed into the fleet was researched; designed and developed here; and was eventually tested here, the system was naturally surrounded by Asteroids and nebulas masking it for the most part from sensors. It was also deep in Animarnia space as well as deploying the latest in FTL inhibitors to stop unwanted visitors.

"This is Mobius Orbital Docking control to Shuttle, Please transmit IDC", said an pleasant and yet monotonous voce from the station in Geo-sync orbit that both acted as a defence station and docking facility; to the right was the orbital ship yard for building ships

Doctor Brenner transmitted his shuttles unique ID and clearance codes as requested and was cleared to land on the planet The Shuttles nose flared red as it descended to the surface flying past the orbital facility as well as orbital defence satellites. The shuttle finished re-entry with massive sonic booms as it slowed down and over shot the huge sprawling city that they had discovered here. Beautifully crafted Spires and pillars perfectly intact just no life. It was older than anything Animarnia had found thus far at least 10,000 years but still far beyond any technology Animarnia currently had, much of it was still far beyond understanding but a lot had been reverse engineered. However this ancient alien city was not Doctor Brenner's destination no his destination lay in what appeared to be the middle of no where when suddenly a small part of the desert floor opened up. Sand seemed to fall off it to reveal a large silver hanger door; which opened and the shuttle descended closing the entrance behind it the sand falling back into place as if nothing had happened at all.

When the shuttle came to rest the rear hatch opened and Doctor Curtis exited to find the hanger surprisingly cool for a facility under a desert. He was met by two soldiers but it was a man in a pin stripe grey suit that held out his hand to greet him. "I'm George Calohan, the director of this facility" he said.

"Dr Curtis Brennan, what...exactly is this place" he asked looking around at the spacious hanger.

"Mobius Skunk Works R&D Facility, this way doctor" he motioned for Doctor Curtis to follow him as he preceded into the facility the two armed soldiers trailing behind flanking both of them either side whether they were honour guard or prison guard was not known.

"Doctor, I'm afraid we'll have to search you, you understand standard procedure", George stated in his cool and calm voice.

"Of course" Curtis nodded; as he was motioned into a small room the two the two soldiers stood either side of the door. A few minutes' later two female soldiers in two very different uniforms entered the room; one was a female NCO sand coloured blouse and skirt combo the other was a sleek black uniform that looked very intimidating

"If you could take off you clothes and lay them on the table Doctor Brenner", one of the said in a voice that left no room for negotiation. Curtis did as he was asked and took off all his clothes as each piece was taken off it was searched thoroughly by one of the women while the other kept her distance until Curtis was very naked. The one who had been searching the cloths produced a hand scanner and scanned over them it beeped a few times before she moved it over to Curtis and scanned him the scanner beeped a few times but did nothing out of the ordinary

She finished the scan and looked over to her colleague who simply nodded in response. The woman turned back to Curtis and spoke "Your clean; your free to get dressed; when your done we'll show you your room; you'll have an hour to freshen up and unpack, before your meeting with Mr Calohan"

All Curtis could do was nod and get dressed not quite understanding the silent communication between the two women or the need for the high security, there was even two Soryu class destroyers in orbit two of the most advanced warships in the entire fleet. Curtis pondered this as he traversed the long seemingly endless corridors of the underground complex following the two women who had searched him until they stopped at a standard looking door; she swiped a card through a reader and the door slid open with a hiss.

"This is your room; you can feel free to freshen up, your meeting is in an hour" she said with a nod before leaving the woman in black giving him one last look before joining her friend as Curtis stepped inside the door hissed closed behind him. He looked around the room was quite spacious, fully furnished, carpeted and was quite luxurious not at all what he was expecting from the look of the facility thus far.

Deciding to take a shower his mind once again wondered over what could be happening here, he guessed he'd find out in an hour…

Project H - First meeting with George,
Curtis walked along the corridors very lost and having no idea where he was or how to get to George Calohan's office from wherever this was. He passed by several people some in white lab coats, others in soldier's uniforms and even one or two in the sleek black uniforms like the woman earlier. Eventually his need to get where he was going overcame his pride and he stopped one of the passers by a girl who looked no older than 15; her hair was brown and cut fairly short, she looked up with expectant brown eyes. She was dressed in jeans and a thin-strapped vest under a white lab coat it was hard to believe a girl that young were working here.

"Excuse me Miss…" he paused to look at her name badge clipped to her lab coat; " Iwakura, could you tell me where Mr Calohan's office is?" he asked.

The girl looked at him oddly for a moment before nodding and motioning for him to follow her, which he did. They stopped at one of the black panels and she pressed her hand against it. The panel lit up to show a touch screen computer system. The Iwakura girl quickly entered several commands and a 3d map of the facility came up showing their current location. "Show me Ops" she said, her voice was soft and quiet but the computer heard her just fine as the map changed to show an area marked Operations.

"This is where you want to go" she said; "Mr Calohan's office is just off Ops here", she added pointing.

"Thank you", Curtis said; "How do I get there from here?" he asked.

She smiled; "Just to the Elevator at the end of corridor say 'Ops' and it will take you where you need to go. If you need any more assistance just ask the computer Janice" she replied waiting a moment for Curtis to thank her again and see that she had finished with her before walking off.

"Lain Iwakura, what a strange girl you are" Curtis said to himself as he entered the elevator; "Ops" he said and the car began to move for at least 2 minutes before coming to a stop the doors hissing open. When Curtis stepped out he was hit by what could only be described as a vision of beauty as scientists went about there business around the most advanced looking equipment Curtis had ever seen in his life

He quickly made his way past all the technicians, scientists and equipment suppressing the urge to orgasm and 'squee' in joy. Walking up the long stair case he entered the glass office of George Calohan, the heavy door hissing open as he walked though and hissing behind him.

"Ah Doctor Brenner, its good that you came to see much so soon; your early too I am impressed" the tall grey haired man said with a voice like butter.

"Thank you, this place is impressive, though I'd be lying if I said I wasn't curious exactly what you people did here" Curtis replied.

"All in good time doctor", George said, standing "If you'll follow me I'll introduce you to the other members of the team and we can start the conceptual meeting", George added leading Curtis out of his office.

"Can I ask; what's with the people in black?" Curtis asked.

"They're all Tellus Survivors, they're all telepaths, every survivor of Tellus is, the Radiation from the jump gate explosion activated the dormant genes", George said as they continued to walk

Project H Conception Meeting, Mobius Skunk Works Underground Facility
The two walked into the meeting; the room looked like a large lecture hall with Cinema-esq. Pull down seats and long grey work tops in rows leading to almost the very top of the room; at the head of the room was a large white screen. And to the right a stocky man with snow-white hair stood at a podium.

Curtis took one of the empty seats looking briefly around the room at the assembled scientists. "Ladies and gentleman" the white haired man said; "after Tellus; we felt shame, shame that our technology failed us, our military failed us, we lacked the offensive firepower to do anything but dent the enemy ships without using anti-matter weapons" he added.

"Today, with the beginning of Project H that shame starts to end, I give you the Ikari II Battleship" he said. Pressing a button on the console the white screen lit up with a schematic drawing of the new battleship as an aid handed out yellow folders to the assembled scientists.

"Its pretty radical" muttered a blond haired woman with glasses; "Zero Pont Energy fields, Quantum Singularity drives, weapons that would make a Meimish orgasm and a shield type I've never seen before…its pretty radical" she stated.

"Its more than radical" another said; she had short brown hair, to just below her shoulders as they all went over the files, ever one in the room was the best in there respective fields the white haired man waited for the ruckus to quiet down before continuing.

"Design for the new systems will begin post haste", he said

When the meeting was over George motioned Curtis to the other scientists who looked up from the files; "Doctor Curtis Brenner, he'll be working on the armour system, he designed the silk steel generators we'll be incorporating into the design" he introduced

"Dr Ritsuko Akagi, the chief weapons designer" he said pointing to the blonde woman; "Dr Lain Iwakura, Computing designer" he said pointing to the 15 year old girl from earlier to which she smiled. "Dr Mari Ibuki, Deputy Project head" he said pointing to the brown haired woman; "Dr Ruri Horishio, our propulsion specialist" he said pointing to the woman with blue pigtails. "Dr Nene Romanova, also computing" he said pointing to the woman with short blonde hair; "Dr Ichirou Mihara aka 'Ichan' our chief designer of special projects and shield designer" He said pointing to the man with glasses and short spiked hair. "Doctor Collins, will be designing some of the more specialist technology" George said pointing to the woman absorbed in her work making notations. The Scientists all greeted each other shook hands and shared ideas.

Weapon Field test 001 - Laser Cannon array, Weapon Test bed craft - 3 months later

The Weapon Test bed craft wasn't very long at all measuring only 200meters in length it had only basic systems; it was a retrofit of an old design fitted with a single forward facing laser cannon. Some of it had been reverse engineered from Mationbud wrecks during the war other parts were unique Animarnia technology the target was a small ship that was going to be scrapped. It had been equipped with a reactor and shields on par with a star destroyer for the purposes of the weapons test. Dr Akagi stood on the command deck.

"Is everything ready?" she asked

"Yes ma'am", replied a young technician

"Good, Begin the test" she commanded a smile crossing her lipstick red lips as she pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose.

"Beginning activation; feeding power from main reactor to weapon charging chamber" the technician reported.

They still hadn't perfected the Zero point Energy Module; they had found ten of them stored in the city marooned on the planet as backups for the further three that seemed to power the entire complex. However its technology was still far more advanced than anything Animarnia currently had; in the meantime they were using a cold fusion reactor from this ship and channelling it directly into the firing chamber. The Yamato Cannons they had bought from The Solarin League were great but they could only be equipped to large-scale capital ships like the Miliado Dreadnought due to their size, even then they could only mount four. They needed something better a way to deliver enough firepower to an ISD to take out the shields in a single shot.

The Large Gun began to glow green in the barrel as the energy built up; a second later a beam of green energy shot out of the laser weapon striking the shielded test target; the shields of the ship shimmered slightly blue but overall no damage.

"How much energy was that?" Dr Akagi asked the young tech or 'bridge bunny' as she had come to call them.

"Around 1,440,000,000 Terrajoules ma'am" she replied disheartened, the most powerful weapon divvied purely from Animarnia technology they'd fielded thus far didn't even dent the shields of the target ship. The firing chamber continued to glow brighter and brighter despite the fact the shot had been fired.

"Ma'am reading an energy build up in the firing chamber, cascade failure, its overloading" another technician said.

"Crap, Eject the gun; Raise shields, hard to port, full ahead" she ordered and the pilot complied, ejecting the gun into space still glowing the engines glowing bright white as they came to full power accelerating the ship away from the time bomb at max velocity. The weapon exploded with a massive amount of energy equivalent to a 25-megaton nuke. The test ship shook violently as the explosion tore over the shields but left the ship relatively intact.

"Minor Damage to engines, shields took the brunt of the blast thank the gods, damage control teams are responding" one of the officers replied.

Though they had walked away, their experiment had been deemed an extreme failure thought it was clear Laser weapons alone weren't getting them anywhere fast…

Project H Technical Evaluation meeting, 3 weeks after Laser Weapon test failure, Mobius Skunk Work Orbital Facility.

Various theories had been put forth on how to proceed with the weapons none had yet come to fruition, it was obvious laser weapons alone couldn't do the job and plasma weapons were always 'close brawling weapons' they needed a medium range weapon. So it was decided to try particle cannons the type of particle to accelerate was the subject of much conjecture amongst the gathered scientists. However Dr Akagi decided it would be best to accelerate highly charged Ions into a particle stream as it could be more easily applied. Outside at the Mobius shipyard in orbit a skeleton was beginning to take shape; it looked in some ways similar to an Ikari class battleship except being slightly longer by about 100 meters and had a larger beam than its predecessor. It currently lacked anything remotely viable for a ship considering most of the systems were still being designed but the skeletal structure was there,

Project H Field Test 02 - Shield generator array testing.
Ichan watched from the observation window of the Ikari class battleship that had been assigned here. It was a purpose built retrofit; it had been equipped with reverse engineered 'Turbo lasers' 6 Duel Heavy Turbo laser batteries, 12 tri-barrelled Medium Turbo laser batteries and 32 light Turbo laser batteries additional to its standard missile and torpedo payload.

"Sir, all Shield Generators on the asteroid have been secured and are ready" a technician reported; "Good" the captain of the ship a blonde man replied.

"Begin the test" Ichan said. His assistant Ortega nodded and the shield bubble was raised around the asteroid creating a blue sphere that shimmered slightly.

"Bring us broadside, All batteries fire on the asteroid" the captain ordered the Ikari class ship turned and brought its mass of turrets to bare on the asteroid. Multiple pulses of orange varying in power from 200 megatons up to 250 Gigatons fired repeatedly at the shield causing it to flare sky blue the ship poured continuous fire for several minutes before they ceased.

"That’s a pretty damn good shield; how did that work, we couldn't touch it" the captain said in clear awe.

"The principle is quite simple; each generator puts out its own shield bubble around the asteroid, each bubble re-enforces and quickly re-generates the whole. To penetrate the shield, to penetrate the shield you must hit it with enough firepower to overwhelm all the generators at once or it will keep regenerating making it difficult for energy weapons to penetrate. Solid projectiles fired at close to FTL speeds however do fair better at penetration, as would our Pont Singularity guns. In this test we used three generators; so theoretically you were firing on three shields at once all supporting each other; a ship of this size can expect 8-10 generators all with at least 2 redundant backups. The design is based off the city shield and can be deployed on a planetary scale", Ichan explained. The shield test was deemed a massive success and generators would begin to be installed in the prototype ship skeleton.

Project H, field test 03 - first Particle Cannon test, 8 months later
Dr Akagi was once again on the small test ship, it had taken them 8 months to build an Ion Particle accelerator the new duel barrelled weapon was now 'strapped' to the test ship In place of the high yield laser weapon that was used last time.

"Ma'am we're ready to begin" said the technician

"Very well, raise the shields of the target; fire when ready" Akagi ordered

The Ion accelerator began to charge; a whitish yellow light building in the barrel a moment later a yellow beam shot from each barrel towards the target and lasted for several seconds before dissipating and fading out of existence.

"Damage?"

"Minimal, though this is interesting; according to the data the Ion's seemed to neutralising the particle shields at the impact point and the immediate area allowing other ions in the beam to score a direct hit on the hull. Its like the ship was hit with a massive EMP, electronics all over the ship are bunt out" the technician reported.

"Interesting, not what we wanted but interesting non the less" Dr Akagi said.

"What about the rest of the shield?" she asked.

"The rest of the shield remained intact until the ships electronics burnt out" the tech added; "according to this the combination of charged ions attracted the particles in the shield to them allowing the rest through the shield. Essentially dropping the shields at the impact point of the beam and allowing the rest of the beam to penetrate"

"So in theory we could use that as a carrier beam or send a second type of particle with the beam to do damage to the ships...fascinating" the test despite its unusual results was deemed a success for further evaluation.

Project H Weapons Lab Meeting - 1 month later
The project team for the weapons had been working for a month now trying to find a particle that could deliver destruction to the Star destroyer hull with enough force to penetrate the armour plating. And; punch though the ship in a single beam and be carried along with the shield stripping charged ions it wasn't easy; the charged Ions seemed to attach the particles to themselves just like the particle shields which made the beams effectiveness less that 25% of the beam alone. It was decided to add a second particle accelerator to the weapon; so the main beam is fired into the second accelerator where it will be doubled in power as its accelerated further then the Ion beam is added by the second accelerator. One of the technicians had also had the idea of lining the firing chamber of the weapon with small Gavitic repulsers to further accelerate the particles to near light speed.

"I GOT IT!" Dr Akagi yelled.

"Yes ma'am" one of the technicians or 'bridge bunnies' looked up

"Neutrons; if we use this combination of Neutrons and photons; combined with the charged Ions" she said pointing to a simulation; "and factor in the further acceleration of the Gavitic systems the beam can retain 89% of its effectiveness. It will strip an ISD's shields and heat up the armour plating and punch through its hull to the other side after a 3 second burst; meaning a 11.2 second burst could cut the ship in two from bow to stern" Doctor Akagi was very happy.

"That’s great!" the Technician said; "Though Particle Cannons are power intensive…"

"Power shouldn't be a problem; the reactor and the energy modules with supplemental CF Cells should be enough power the problem is the heat that firing causes it would take at least a minute for the firing chamber to cool enough for the weapon to fire again" she said. "We should build a 'light' model for use too; less power, less heat and faster re-fire but with the same EMP effects and lets face it when an ISD loses its shields one or two well place nukes could finish her"

Project H - Weapon Test - Gavitic Neutron/Ion Railed Particle Cannon Test, 3 months later
The bridge was silent as the duel barrelled weapon was aimed at the test target again, which had been repaired it had taken them 3 months to build the prototype cannon and its down scaled counterparts. But if this worked; this would be the production model weapon after numerous lab tests it was finally ready for a field test. With the ZPM Replacement unit (ZPMRU) finished; the cannon was truly ready each unit only put out around 65% of a true ZPM but it would be more than enough to power the cannons as each would be equipped with one.

"Begin the test"

The Weapon began to glow an bluish green as a ball of energy was created in the barrel a few seconds later a blue/green beam of energy shot out of the weapon towards the test target hitting the shields. The burst lasting for a full 5 seconds punched through the ship's hull and clean out the other side after the first 2 the experiment was deemed a success. In the distance you could see the new battleship hull coming together; the engines were installed; as were the reactors, shields and other turbo laser weapons. The new cannons would be one of the last systems to be installed before the ablative armour and silk steel generators were to be installed. Most ships had been retrofitted with Turbo lasers at this point and now they would also carry Neutron Railed Particle cannons

Project H; Mobius Skunk works Ship test range, Planet Mobius, 5 months later, Ikari II shakedown test.

Its so happens today was a test day. Four Ikari class battleships, several Cruisers and Kiyone class Medium Destroyers had secured the space around the test site and fighter patrols flew regularly to ward off any one from entering the testing area. And buoys had been dropped on automatic broadcast.

The Nightingales Song, was an old Ichan class science vessel; older than most of the ships in this system as it still used rotating sections for artificial gravity outfitted with labs; testing facilities and computers up to the eyeballs she would serve as the command ship for this test. The Ikari II Class battleship prototype sat in the middle of space idle her crew was preparing for the test to come. Ahead of her were three recently purchased ships that would serve as target practice: - Namely 3 Imperial Star Destroyer Mk III Elite's. Animarnia had no interest in keeping such ships even though they had paid good money for them but they were bought for the express purpose of this project. The new technology had proved most successful in tests but this was to be against authentic Imperial technology and would either make the project a renowned success or a complete flop.

The principles of project H was to first see how well traditional Animarnia Warships fared against the best of the Alpha tech (Star Wars) warships and to develop effective weapons to quickly and efficiently annihilate Imperial ships with a few shots as possible. Dr Sandoval the head of the project was hoping to get it down to being able to kill an ISD mk3 in a single shot, a super star destroyer in perhaps 15-20 salvos and an Eclipse in no more than 40-50 Salvos or a single full broadside. If the project were successful then the weapons across the entire fleet would be upgraded.

Time: 2 hours ZULU to Weapons Test,
Location: ASV Nightingales Song

Dr Sandoval was reading though his notes; the menacing appearance of the ISD's filled the view port; the epitome of rule by fear. Imperial ships were indeed weapons of terror not weapons of war but they did have an uncanny ability to outlast other ships in combat by sheer endurance of the shield system they used. The only thing Animarnia had during the war able to effectively take out Imperial Star Destroyers en-mass was the anti-matter combat wasp missiles designed to carry enough anti-matter to take out a large portion of a death star or an equivalently sized and armoured battle station.

"Mari, can you check over these calculations for me one more time", Dr Sandoval said, his voice sounding almost frail and exhausted as he ran a hand through his short snow white hair. Mari Ibuki; Dr Sandoval's assistant walked over to the desk; she was a fairly tall woman with short boyishly cut hair following after her mother Maya Ibuki; who was a certified genius when it came to computers. Unfortunately she'd also inherited her fathers lack of self-confidence which was why she was only assisting and not running her own research project by now.

She briefly looked over the papers and the calculations; "Looks okay to me doctor, reactor to energy output is fine, and the barrel pressures as well as capacitor tolerances are within safety limits, I can't see any problems" she said looking over her glasses.

"Thank you Mari; it's always good to have a second opinion; don't want to blow up the prototype, when she tries to fire the new weapons" Dr Sandoval said his voice strained as he rubbed his temples and nose obviously having been up all night working.

Mari nodded noticing his state; "Yes Sir; I'm going to get a cup of coffee would you like some?" she asked cheerfully.

"Ah I'd love some, you must have read my mind" he said; Mari smiled and nodded before walking off to get two mugs of coffee

Time: 2 hours ZULU to Weapons Test
Location: ASDF Prometheus, Animarnia Prototype Ikari II Class Battleship

Onboard the Prometheus everyone was going about there business hurrying to get the ship ready and going over final checks; the command deck was very submarine like with stations located around the captains chair. Giving the commander a full view of what was happening and firmly fixing it as the centre of attention; with fire control and sensors; and helm just in front of the main view screen; on the right was communications and on the left was engineering. Behind the command hair was the main briefing room with maps of the area and diagrams all laid out over it as technicians went about their business

The Main viewer was broken into three sections; the centre screen showed an outside view of space, which was currently showing the three imperial 'targets' they would soon be firing at. The right screen showed a tactical display of all assets in sensor range and the left screen showed a picture of the ships core AI. Who appeared as a young woman in her late 20's dressed in a standard female officers uniform with green eyes and fiery red hair; she was officially designated as Phoenix but everyone on the ship called her Phe' and she didn't seem to mind.

The ship itself was a bastardisation of technology reverse engineered from blue prints salvaged from Imperial computer cores onboard derelict ships destroyed during the war with Mationbuds; though there was also a lot of Animarnia's own principle technology installed into the Prometheus. Including fundamental alterations to the design of the Ikari class she was based on. Some of the weapons on the design were more powerful ones than anything thus far fielded by the Animarnia Space Navy and made Turbo lasers look like peashooters; the Ion engines were also upgraded and supplemented with the latest in gravetic engines; she was a fine ship.

"How goes preparations?" Captain Alexandria Morgan chief commanding officer of the Prometheus stated as she sat down in her comfortable command chair; that had been another design change. The bridge was now located deep in the bowels of the ship, with the bridge having been completely re-designed to its current state.

Alexandria Morgan sipped her coffee; her XO an Elvish woman with long black hair was looking over the annual reports written on the flexi plate. Another new wondrous invention; the Flexi plate was as thin as paper and no heavier than a few grams but could store up to a terabyte; you could even hand write on it and have it convert to text. Books, technical manuals, reports and even holonovels were starting to be written on Flexi plates.

"Ma'am; everything is on schedule; work crews are just checking one last time over the systems. A few minor discrepancies with the targeting arrays but Leftenant Granger should have those fixed within the allotted time and if not we can always compensate manually, other than that everything looks good" replied Anyliana Lockenet, the ships executive officer and second in command.

"All Heiffenfeffer-Toubastaff reactors are operating within normal tolerances, Æther Coils are online and functioning normally, matter stream is stable and at 98% efficiency other than the targeting arrays we're at peak performance"; she added a moment later her voice graceful more like a diplomat than a soldier.

"Good, don't want anything biting us in the arse" Alexandria replied smiling as she took another sip of her caffeine filled drink. A lot of people had pulled a lot of long hours to get this test underway.

"Phe, have all crews been evacuated from the test ships?" she asked.

The Red haired young woman who served as the ship AI avatar appeared on her screen. "Yes captain; all crews have been evacuated as per your orders and tasks critical to the ships survival have been dedicated to androids under the control of the Nightingales Song AI; so it can operate the ships systems remotely" Phe replied.

"Excellent" Morgan replied pleased everything was going well.

Time: 1 hour ZULU to weapons test

Mari and Sandoval poured over the final notes when a young technician approached them "Doctors; the Prometheus just checked in; they say everything is ready on there end they're just waiting for us now" he said before turning to go back to work.

Lain Iwakura, a 15 year old girl genius poured over the computer data scrolling rapidly down the screen in green monotone "Everything looks ready sir" she said adjusting her glasses; "all systems look good, Prometheus confirms our readings" she added.

"Ok lets do a firing test before the main test; just to make sure everything works" Dr Sandoval commanded. The Communications officer immediately sent a message to the Prometheus for it to begin a firing test procedure…

Location: ASDF Prometheus, Ikari II Class Prototype Battleship

"This is ASV Nightingales song to ASDF Prometheus, we would like to conduct a firing test before the main test begins, just to check over everything, can you please use the nearby asteroid field as dummy targets" the message came over the communications line.

"Send a response confirming our understanding and acknowledgement", Alexandria Morgan ordered putting her coffee mug down on a tray rest in the arm of her chair; "Helm, ahead one quarter; come about forty five and bring us to bare on the asteroid field" she commanded.

The Ikari class ship moved gracefully through the black void of space, the combination of Gravetic and Ion Engines giving the 1900meter long 66 million metric ton battleship an impressive 1,500,000 m/s of acceleration. The ship moved a short distance and turned towards the asteroids before coming full stop once again standing idle in the void.

"Mr Aetna, set IFF to target the asteroids as dummy ships", Captain Morgan ordered and a moment later the tactical display changed several asteroids to red blips indicating them as hostile; red boxes appeared around them to signify weapons lock.

"Clear The breach" she ordered.

The Prometheus' forward batteries began to glow as there internal capacitors charged, it took a full 15 seconds before they opened fire; the six blue beams of the mark III Sky Rails lanced across space; targeting six separate asteroids as large as 1500-meter diameter rock. As the sky blue/green Neutron Railed particle beams penetrated the asteroid and kept going for several hundred kilometres, the rock exploded from the sustained 11-second blast a mere moment later

"Come Broadside, Full strike. Fire all port batteries" Alexandria ordered.

The Prometheus turned broadside towards the asteroid field as all thirty port turrets locked on; there was a brief pause before more sky blue beams fired from multiple quad-barrelled turrets in rapid succession. Each of the barrels putting out a 2-second beam before the next barrel fired in sequence the looked less powerful than the previous ones though some of the batteries were a mix of heavy and medium turbo lasers. The targeted 800-1000m asteroids were annihilated along with several smaller ones around them from the blasts and automatic point defence picked off any rock that was flying towards the ship with frightening efficiency

"Switch to pulse mode, Repeat firing" Morgan ordered.

The Turrets firing pattern changed, instead of rapidly firing beam weapons the turrets were now firing blue pulses of energy at multiple targets with two or three pulses enough to kill the medium sized asteroids up to 500 meters in diameter. As 200megaton to 1terraton turbo lasers began firing and ripped though the asteroids with the other heavy pulse cannons

"Cease fire, bring us Helm bring us Aft, Prepare rear batteries in raking mode" She ordered as the pulses stopped almost instantly the ship swung around on its own axis. The rear batteries glowing just like the forward ones did for 15 seconds before four blue railed particle beams fired at 1000meter asteroids designated a target. The beams cutting through its outer layers and penetrating through them and carrying on a few hundred kilometres as the beams raked through it just like before except this time cutting them clean in half down the middle before they exploded.
"Cease-fire Aft batteries, bring us starboard for another broadside" She ordered.

The ships aft guns went silent as the ship turned once again; she had now turned almost full circle with the starboard guns aimed in the field; an event similar to the one before it occurred. As the blue beams and Turbo lasers fired rapidly from the 32 starboard turrets obliterating asteroids 400-800meters in diameter before being switched to pulse mode and firing at multiple targets before they ceased firing.

"Report", Captain Morgan ordered.

"All directed energy weapons fired successfully ma'am", replied the tactical officer; "Targeting arrays had a discrepancy of 0.05% which was compensated for manually, all targets were completely eliminated", he added.

"All reactors and energy distribution networks are within normal parameters, engines are nominal, weapons are nominal with 98% of estimated output discharged", replied an engineering office.

"Excellent, send the figures to the Nightingales song, tell them that all the weapons fired successfully and that we're ready for the primary test" Morgan ordered.

Time: 15 Minutes ZULU to Primary test

The scientists observed the weapons test firing with great anticipation and anxiety in all lab tests the weapons had fired every time but this was the first time they had fired the weapons actually installed on the ships and were afraid something might blow up.

Thankfully it didn't

The weapons performed flawlessly obliterating even the largest of the dense asteroids with ease much to the relief of everyone involved in the project. So far everything was going on schedule, it had taken close to 2 years to develop project H to its fruition the real test now was how it faired in an actual battle against ISD's. Control of the ISD's had been handed to an AI on the Nightingales song so that all systems could be operated remotely.

Project H Main Test; 0 hour ZULU

"Begin" was the only command given.

"Helm, Full ahead, Raise shields, power to forward batteries" Captain Morgan commanded.

"Aye, Aye"

The ships engines glowed bright blue as the Ion and Gravitic engines kicked in pushing the ship forward the ISD's simultaneously split up, heading away from each other in separate directions and into a three-pincer strike manoeuvre.

"Sir Targets have split up, lead ship in range; we have a firing solution" Tactical reported.

"Fire Forward Batteries; at the lead ship" Captain Morgan ordered. The blue green railed particle beams fired lancing across the void of space and ripped into the lead ISD; killing its shields almost instantly. the Ion's shorted out all electrical systems as the beams shot right though the ship and came clear our the other side a moment later the ISD exploded

"Down, forward, forty fire, prepare port and starboard batteries", Captain Morgan said
The ship moved downward at a forty fire degree angle at maximum speed as the port and starboard batteries prepared to fire

"We're in Turbo laser range" she said mere moments before the two ISD's started to role on there side and open fire with there Turbo-lasers; the green pulses of super charged laser striking against the shield bubble and sparking them in ripples of green and blue.

"Shields down .2 percent"

"Return fire; port batteries", Captain Morgan ordered.

The Ship returned fire on the ISD at the port side, the 32 batteries flaring the life and penetrating the shields scorching the hull until the ship exploded point defence picking off debris the last ISD fired an array of missiles and proton torpedoes from all its launchers.

"Enemy ISD firing missiles and Torpedo's"

"Point Defence, kill them" Morgan ordered and the rapid fire point defence cannons came to life sending thousands of small pulses across space creating a wall of death as all the missiles and torpedoes were picked off as the Turbo laser fire was still hitting the shields

"Bring us around, fire a single aft battery, full power" Captain Morgan ordered

the Ship swung around so its rear was facing the enemy; a single railed particle cannon fired the blue/green beam stripping the shields and penetrating the hull and raking through it from bow to stern slicing the ship down the middle essentially gutting it like a fish as the ship exploded into a debris field

The Project had been a success.

"We've done it; stand down battle stations, set condition 5, power down all weapons and drop shields"

Project H - Ikari II Class Battleship Coronation, Mobius Orbital Facility
The Ikari II sat proud in space in full view of the observation room where the assembled brass was watching it with awe.

"Years ago; we faced an enemy our military could not defeat; because we were too confident in our technology; which turned out to be less powerful than the enemy we fought, our weapons were no match for them and our citizens paid the price for our arrogance for our naivety. Today we took a step forward with the development of the Ikari II and its systems we have taken a great step towards security for Animarnia, for the future of Animarnia. On this day the third anniversary of the Tellus massacre instead of mourning the loss, we shall celebrate the birth of the Ikari II and the knowledge that it will never happen again" Admiral King said looking at the assembled people

"With The Weapon Refits throughout the fleet complete and in honour of the survivors and casualties of Tellus; the Ikari II shall be Renamed - Tellus Class as it goes into full scale production to eventually replace the ageing Ikari class" he finished. As a Torpedo filled with Champaign fired at the ship; christening the ship

"This first ship shall be named after the man who envisioned it, The Sandoval"

Neutron Ion Railed Particle Cannons - Ranging from the light to the very heavy; these particles cannon's fire a combination of Charged Ions and Neutrons. The Ions attract the particles in the shields, which neutralises them in the impact area and causes similar effects to an EMP. This shorts out electronics on the ship and allowing the Neutrons to strike the hull unhindered by the shields, which quickly burn through the hull. A single prolonged strike from a cannon is enough to destroy an Imperial Mk III Elite in a single hit making it a very efficient ISD Killer and any lesser warship. Although not tested on larger Imperial warships it is believed that it can destroy them in only a few salvos. However the very heavy cannons take a whole minute to cool down before they can be re-fired without damage to the cannon. The light and medium cannons can be fired with only a maximum of a few seconds needed for cooling down the cannon. Power for the cannon comes from a Zero Point Energy Field Module Unit.

Zero Point Energy Field Module Unit - Reverse engineered in part from blueprints and technical data found in a relic city centuries ahead of our own technology. We could not completely duplicate the crystal form ZPM's as they are currently beyond us and appear to be grown in some manner however we have managed to develop a poor mans substitute module that puts out around 65% of a ZPM. If we can ever fully replicate ZPM's entire ships and stations could be run on only one or two. Needless to say this technology is still being studied.

Mobius Energy Shields - the shields again derived from technology reverse engineered from the ancient city are fifty times stronger than those found on an ISD. Each generator puts out its own shield, and each generator re-enforces and regenerates the shield as a whole; so a ship equipped with 8 generators has the power of 8 shields. The shields are VERY effective at stopping energy weapons reducing their impact to next to nil unless they are powerful enough to punch though all the shields at once. However the shield is much weaker against solid Projectiles propelled at speeds close to FTL

Quantum Singularity Reactor - using precisely controlled Gravity fields it is possible to create an artificial quantum singularity as we found out developing the Point Singularity guns fitted on the Soryu Class; using similar principles the quantum singularity reactor instead of a weapon creates a 100% efficient power source. Collecting Stella matter for fuel, and coveting it to pure anti-matter, so in essence making it a battery and a converter. A Mass Neutralisation field also nullifies the effect of any extra mass carrying a singularity around in the bowls of the ship might create so the ship is just as manoeuvrable as any other is
