History
The ancient history of Montegrande isn´t much different from the history of other south american countries. In the territory that is now Montegrande lived different groups of natives (being the caribbeans, akham, ornapi, and peucan the most important ones) until the spanish conquistadors conquered and colonized the country. Since the independence of the country in early 19th century, the country was under foreign influence, tending to export raw material and import manufacture, while the social tensions between the minority of wealthy aristocrats and the poor people, composed by natives, black and ethnic mixes tended to grow in time. Since the beginning of twentieth century the marxist ideology spread between the workers, peasants and the exploited majorities. In the first half of the century the social tensions tended to grow between social classes, until the last corrupt aristocratic dictator ordered the execution of some socialist opposition leaders very popular between the poor and the exploited.
That last act of abuse made the people take the arms to take down the corrupt aristocracy, being lead by the Communist Party. Even when the dictator had support from the foreign capitalist countries which seemed the communists as a menace, his troops were shamefuly defeated by the communists and the People´s Liberation Army, which started just like a guerrilla organization in the jungles of the country.
After revolutionary victory, the communists created a revolutionary dictatorship, which has been moderated as the principles of constant revolution where applied in all the sectors of the montegrandean society, creating montegrande from a poor banana state to a socially progresiv and economicly stable nation with a mildly developed industry (which is runned exclusively by the government.)
