Within several days of Princess Mia's decision, an elegantly decorated letter arrived in the mail, along with a bouquet of fresh red roses.

The letter reads:

Dear Princess Mia Ludokai,

It is with great pleasure that I recieved your notification of accepting my proposal! I cannot wait to see you in person and begin our life together. An old friend of mine and my fathers, Eric Thorrelson, if you remember, said he had the pleasure of meeting you in a diplomatic meeting elsewhere. He spoke very highly of not only your beauty, but your incredible personality and kindness.

If you would agree, I would love to see you when time and duties permit, either in the Blastit Empire or within Emerald Springs.

"Remember your manners, boy!" smiled Duke Kaden as he pat his son on the back. "Don't ramble, hold the doors, be a gentleman, pull out her seat and slide it in for her-"

"I know, father," laughed Matt as he took a step onto the boarding ramp. "You've told me many times!"

"I'm proud of you, son. Be sure to take many pictures...and maybe send us a postcard! Say a greeting from us to her family!"

Matt shook his head as he chuckled at his father. Formalities, formalities...I just hope Princess Mia likes me, he thought to himself as he walked to his room. His father's yacht was a beautiful one, and quite large at that.

As Matt let his luggage fall to the floor, he pulled out Princess Mia's letters and sat on the bed as he read them over and over again, each time his smile growing wider.

Monday is fine. I've arranged with my father and mother to keep the day free, so they may meet you. I'm looking forward to it.

Mia stood on the dock with her service. She was dressed up well, a blue dress that left her shoulders exposed. Although she perfered to go casual. But her father was a stickler when it came to manners and tradition. Some of her staff held an umbrella to shade her from the sun.

"Please, I want to enjoy the sunshine. My skin isn't so fare that i'll whilt in the sun."

"Yes ma'am."

Matt smiled as he recieved the letter, anxious that the big day was coming, when he would finally meet the beautiful Princess Mia Ludokai.

Finally, Monday came and Matt was pulled from his sleep and told to get dressed in formalwear, as the docks were visible and would be reached within an hour.

Matt sprang into a shower, cleaning himself off. Once he hopped out, he put on a suit and tie, combed his hair, and packed his luggage, which had barely been unpacked.

As soon as the boat was tied at the docks, Matt walked down, searching the audience until his eyes fell to a beautiful woman in a blue dress, servants behind her. He nervously walked up to her with a smile.

"Princess Mia Ludokai, I am Sir Matthew Kaden," he said with an elegant bow. "It is with great pleasure that I am allowed to see your beauty up close."

She blsuhed. "You're so sweet. Come come, I want you to meat my family."

She guided him to a limo. "My father's he insists."

She really had perferd a carriage like in the old days. But oh well.

She got inside and patted the seat next to her, coaxing him next to her.

"This is marvelous!" Matt smiled as he sat next to the beautiful princess. "I have already met the most beautiful woman I've ever seen, meeting her family is the next step!"

"So, I know you enjoy novels, so which ones are your favorite? Or what genre?" Matt asked as he turned towards her, the first time to see her up close. She was beautiful, brown hair, light skin...

"I do like novels. Uh favorite, well, that's a tough one. I really like Sci-Fi."

Matt's eyes widened, his smile doing the same.

"Science-fiction? Really?" he chuckled. "Me too! Wow! I always loved the Star Wars movies, and I've read a few of the Dune books."

"Get out! No way, another sci-fi lover? You're kidding. Yes I've truly loved Star Wars my self. I've also taken a likeing to Michael Chrichton's Novels."

"I have honestly not read any of Chrichton's novels, but I have seen the Jurassic parks," Matt chuckled. "We have much more in common than we anticipated!"

"Ah Jurassic Park was a very good movie. Chrichton wrote the film's screnplay. But I really like the book because it kind of brings more of the issues of cloning into light. But the movie was fantastic because it just does it."

"Books do tend to be better than the movies. It leaves you to imagine how it would look like," Matt replied with a smile as he continued to look into Mia's face.

"So, do you have any siblings?"

She chuckled "Uh you wouldn't belive me if I told you."

Matt smiled as he raised an eyebrow. "I'm guessing that's a yes," he chuckled. "Do you all get along? Is there anything I should know about before I meet any of your family?"

Matt certainly did not want to make a fool of himself, nor give the wrong impression to her parents. After all, You can only make a first impression once...

"Yes I do. Okay brace your self for this but, I have nine brothers and sisters. I'm serious I'm number ten right here."

"Wow! At least you get a lot of parties to go to," Matt chuckled. "So you're the youngest of the bunch?"

"I thought having three other siblings was a lot," he smiled.

"What are their names, or do they want me to learn who they are once I get there?"

"Uh second oldest. As for there names, my older brother who is visiting for this occasion with his wife, my sister-in-law, Annie. His name is Joel.

After me comes Anne, not to be confused with my sister-in-law.

Then threir are the twins, Eric and Jonathen.

Then comes, Emily

After, Jessica

After her, there is Rose

Then comes Gefforey

And finally There is Steven, and Alex. Alex is the youngest.

And that is my family."

"Okay, let's see if I get this...Joel is married with Annie, then beautiful Princess Mia," he winked at Mia. "Anne, Eric and Johnathen, Emily..."

Matt closed his eyes and rubbed his chin in thought. "Emily...Rose, Gefforey..Steven...and Alex." Matt laughed quietly as he opened his eyes and looked at the princess. "Did I get them all?"

"Sorry you missed a few. Joel, my self, Anne, Eric and Jonathen, the twins, Emily, Jessica, Rose, Gefforey, Steven, and Alex

"What? No way! Your joshin' me!" chuckled Matt. "I wouldn't miss all of them! Nor would I miss you, my beautiful wife to be!"

She chuckled. "Oh you're so sweet." The car came to a stop.

"Ah we're here." The door opend, and the cheufer stood, and helped her out.

"Thank you Tom."

"Oh you're most welcome ma'am."

Mia extended her hand for Matt.

Matt kissed her delicate hand gently before walking out of the limo with Mia. "Thank you," he said to the butler before looking towards the palace.

"Nice house," he whispered with a smile as he held onto the Princess' hand.

"Yes it is. It's been my home for a long time. Come on inside." She opend the door.

"Hey we're here everybody!"

Nine kids ran out along with the Royal King and Queen.

"This is my father, Robert No beard as you can tell. And my mother Allena."

Matt chuckled as the nine kids ran out, trying to remember the names. Gefforey...no Joel...wait...Joel is married to Anne...or was it Annie? Suddenly, Matt's eyes positioned themselves on the king and queen.

"Your highness," Matt said as he bowed low. "It is with great pleasure to meet you and allow me to wed your daughter. Never before have I seen such a beautiful young lady."

"Yes Mia is certianlly our pride and joy. Seems like yesterday I was b-"

"Mother."

"B-Bottle feeding her. They grow up so fast."

"Pleasure to meet you." The King said.

Matt laughed at Queen Ludokai's comments. "I know what you mean, your highness, my mother says the same of me and my siblings."

"The pleasure is all mine, my lord," Matt said to King Ludokai, smiling brightly. "It will be an honor to be you son-in-law."

"As you shall be my boy, as you shall be. My daughter has always had good taste in men, and my dear, it looks like you reeled your self a whopper here."

"Yeah thanks daddy."

His wife gave him a prick on the head "I thought I told you no fishing slang around our guest."

"Oh my dear."

"Ah, we had an agreement."

"Yes dearest. That's my wife for you. So come come, let's have a chat young man. Man-to-man eh?"

Matt nervously shot a glance at Mia, before smiling to the king and nodding. "Of course, your majesty."

This was the worst part of any close relationship...being questioned by the father...It either went well...or it didn't. Matt could only hope that King Lugokai was a kind and gentle man.

He led him to his study.

"Have a seat. The chairs are nice to sit in. Well I'm sure you know me being the father, I can be protective of my family especially my wonderful eldest daughter Mia."

"I would expect no less, your highness. One of your stature should be, considering you have such a beautiful and fine daughter as Mia. I would hope that all your in-laws will be perfect," Matt said with a smile, as he took a seat on the comfortable chair. He twiddled his thumbs nervously as he awaited the questioning. In fact, Matt was desperately hoping that the King didn't do anything drastic, such as plug him into a lie detector, some sort of shocking tool, or sick his guards on the bachelor.

He could tell he was nervous. "Don't be so nervous sun. I'm not going to implement Chinese Water Torture on you. I am an excellent judge of character, and when Mia told me of you, and you walked in the door, I could tell what you are. And what you are is a romantic. Men like us, we are nothing with out the women we love. I admit I proposed to Allena before I was accepted to merly serve on the Royal House along with King Ludokai XV, because I knew she was the one. I got accepted into Kingship, we had our first son, then we had Mia. I can tell you will be good to my little girl, and you will love and care for her, for your marriage. I can tell she loves you as much as you love her. So as the proud father of an engage duaghter. I must continue my family tradition. (He pulled out a box, pulling out two Emerald Bands.) These bands, are made from the Emeralds of the Isle. I was given these when I became king. I never parted with my old wedding bands, but I've kept these, as heirlooms. To pass to my children. Two for each. "

Matt visibly relaxed with a small chuckle as King Ludokai let him know he wasn't goint to do any sort of torture to him.

When he pulled out the two, most beautiful emerald bands Matt had ever seen. His eyes were as wide as dinner plates as he looked at the King. "Why...why...Thank you, My lord," Matt said with a bow of the head. "I promise that I will take care of your daughter, in every and any way she wants my care. I will cherish her forever, and keep her close at all times."

"That's what I like to hear. I can tell you will be good for my daughter." He shook his hand. "Now Dinner should be about ready. So let's go son."


Mia stood in the kitchen with her mother "I hope daddy won't be well you know...to hard on him."

"Your father does what he does. But sweetheart, I'm sure he will be as nice as he can. He's just trying to protect you."

"Right."

"Thank you my lord...I'm parched," Matt laughed as he walked out with King Ludokai. He also wanted to see Princess Mia's shining bright face again...He felt they were the perfect couple...a couple meant to be.

"Right this way sir." A servant led him to the dining room. A long table lit with candles sat everyone poised.

Mia stood waiting for Matt.

Matt followed the servant to the large and ornately decorated dining hall. The Ludokai family were already sitting, awaiting their guest.

And there stood Mia, like a patient angel, awaiting her husband, Matt.

Matt smiled widely to Mia. How considerate of her! She is not only beautiful and cultured, but she is so kind as well...I must be the luckiest man in the world.

"You sit next to me Matt."

"With pleasure, your highness," Matt replied as he held his hand out for her.

She took his hand and sat down.

The food was set down. The Rob asked "Matt would you like to say the blessing? Unless your not comftrable."

"Dear it's not polite to ask our foreign guest, we don't know what his customs may be with guests saying blessings." Allena interjected.

"I'm sure he won't mind mother." Mia said "And if he does I can say it."

"Um...well...I can try," Matt grinned sheepishly. He thought back to blessings he had heard and occasionally said at Church dinners and hoped it would suffice.

"Bless us, O Lord, and these your gifts, which we are about to receive from your bounty. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. "

"Amen. That was wonderful." She unfolded her napkin and placed it in her lap

"Many thanks," Matt replied with a smile as he unfolded his napkin and placed it on his lap.

Matt kept his eyes jumping from person to person, trying to remember all the names and associate them with a face. There were so many of them!

Her mother spoke, "You should know, Mr. Kaden, my daughter made much of this food her self."

She blushed, true, but mostly with her mother's help. She was a good cook, but far from gormet. Clearly her mother was trying to impress Matt further.

"It truly is marvelous! My chefs at home could most certainly learn a few tricks from Mia," Eric laughed, turning around and smiling at her with love. "Do you like to cook, Princess Mia?"

"Yes I do."

"What kinds of things do you like to cook the most?" Eric asked before taking another forkfull of food.

"Well nothing fancy. Your basics, like vegitables, pasta, casroles, I make a mean cheese pizza."
