Would a nuclear test result in a nuclear strike?

Well it depens...where is the test site? what do other countries think you'll do with the technology?

The test site is far off my coast and is uninhabited with the exception of a few republicians.

I have had nuclear devices for a long time but want to test a new one. it has an estimated power of 75-120 megatons.

You are future tech. Test it in deep space far from where it will do environmental damage. You could even blow up a few spaceships for practice with it.

No i'm both.

And if this was a future tech nuke it would be much stronger. like maybe 75-120 gigatons.

It shouldn't result in nuclear strike, as long as it's within your territory and isn't being used to slaughter people, etc.

Ummmm...... no. No it wouldn't.

But on the question of a test it really does depend where it is. Is it over currents that are going to carry fallout into fishing zones? Is it near any foreign vessels or routes of travel? Basically just make sure it can't affect anyone else in any way and it should be okay.

i say it's better if you test it in space, on the ground the nuclear fallout could make that land and surounding area inhabitable for a long time, plus you don't know what could mutate from all the radiation

I can't think of why it would unless the "test" was actually a strike or something along those lines.

If fallout from the test (provided it's a groundburst) reaches foreign shores or vessels, or the EMP discharge was large enough to interefere with foreign electronics.

Yeah. Though a test shouldn't, by nature, affect other nations in such a direct way.

You should really read 'On the Beach', great book that deals with the issue of nuclear weapons... The poor Aussies, they weren't even in the war... but I digress... the use of ANY nukes WILL affect your neighbors, especially those downwind.

And while such effects hitting neighbors would most likely not result in a nuclear strike, it's possible that diplomatic or even military (conventional) reprecussions would ensue.

Actually, my little thread, that was stickied for a short time many months ago, deals with this issue.
