President Keith Johnson strode slowly to the pulpit looking microphone stand and placed his hands on either side of it. It had been a long hard day, but hours of deliberating had led to this specific moment. The Senate was under ordinary circumstances extremely quick in making decisions, but today they had debated for seemingly endless ammounts of time. One thing could be said, they were long winded.
Keith smiled before the thousands of cameras that flashed in his face. Prominent among them was GNN (Geneticon Network News). A reporter sat in teh front row, a camera focused on her only moments before the President approached. The GNN reporter spoke. "It seems that the Senate has come to big decision with approval from the President. We're not quite sure how big yet, but we know that-- Wait! Here he comes..." The camera wrenched around to focus on Keith.
"Good evening." Keith said strongly, and he paused to wipe his sweating brow and sip his water glass. "Today the Senate and I came to an extremely important decision that will shape the future of our nation for the next three years." Everyone in the huge hall was holding their breath, he would speak further. A pindrop could be heard.
"Today we decided on a period of isolation for our nation. For the next three years, our nation will refuse to interact with any other nations from around the world." Gasps went up all over the hall. This was news indeed. "As a leading member of CASS, we will have to temporarily withdraw, but will return once the period of isolation is over. GAFE will be completely shut down for foreign exports for the next three years. After that, foreign exports will continue as normal."
People sat in their seats. Shocked.
Keith sipped his water again and continued, "This is done primarily for security and financial reasons... although the exact reasons we cannot voice at this time." Keith raised his hands. "We will ignore any foreign messages after 8 a.m. tommorow morning. That is when Enactment forty-one dot thirty-eight will be enforced. To the nations of the world, Geneticon wishes you the best of luck... and God Bless you all! God Bless Geneticon! On the shoulders of the world... we will prosper!"
The reporters quickly wrote their notes, some tearing up their sheets in their haste. This was the biggest enactment in over twenty years. Amazing. Geneticon would enter a three year period of isolation.
Enactment 41.38:
For the purposes discussed in Senate meeting 122150A.34 filed under the said number, this Enactment is suggested and enforced. The general purpose is to provide a financial and security boost to Geneticon in teh following three years. It is with great sobriety that this enactment is proposed and enforced. It should be noted that this is done for extreme purposes, and Geneticon does not enact this lightly. Geneticon wishes all foreign nations the best.
With these thoughts, Geneticon moves forward with this enactment:
DEFINING Isolation as complete and utter ignorance, seperation, and lack of contact.
FURTHER DEFINING Period as a time of three years under this enactment.
UNDERSTANDING that it is in our nation's best interest both financially and otherwise to establish this proposal.
THIS ENACTMENT PROPOSES:
A. That Geneticon begin a period of isolation immediately at eight-hundred (800) hours on June the second (2nd), two-thousand-six (2006).
B. That GAFE begin a period of isolation immediately at eight-hundred (800) hours on June the second (2nd), two-thousand-six (2006).
C. That Geneticon and GAFE both do all possible to benefit the nation in the next three years, to take advantge of this situation.
OOC: I am leaving NS and the forums for the summer, only having rare internet access in the next two months. I will still be around, reading posts and playing a few RPs, but I will be unable to conduct foreign business and upkeep my storefront (GAFE, see signature). Tomorrow at 8 am I leave. If you want, you can tag this for reference or post your nations reaction to this enactment. It's basically a glorified IC way to say I'll be leaving the game for a little while, but I will back!!!
