Renown refit to hit the waves

The refit for all the Royal Navy's Renown class battleships is soon to hit the seas and will shortly be followed by a purchasable Hood refit. With the purchase of HMS Renown, HMS Repulse, HMS Resolution, HMS Revenge, HMS Royal Oak, and HMS Royal Sovereign by the Royal Navy the Renown class will be in service for some thirty more years and yet another refit is planned in the future. The Renown is the third largest warship in the world by length and the heaviest by weight (that is, until, the Hood refit.)

RENOWN CLASS BATTLESHIP
BY ORDER OF THE CROWN; THE RENOWN IS NOT FOR SALE TO FOREIGN DEFENCE COMPANIES WITHOUT PRIOR SERIOUS NEGOTIATION. IT IS MOST LIKELY THAT YOUR PURCHASE OF A RENOWN WILL BE DENIED BY THE CROWN PROCUREMENT ACT OF SUPERWANK 2006.

Overview: The Renown is the smaller version of the Hood. Standing at 1,850 metres Renown is the ultimate expression of Questarian naval engineering. Her three hulls combined displace an amazing 19 million tons and her 40, yes, 40, 27.1in guns deliver firepower unknown before. The Renown is the third largest warship afloat and she is one of the strongest. The Renown can act as a C4I ship, it has considerable anti air and anti submarine capabilities, and it can act as a lineship as it is extremely heavily armoured. Though a strong escort is neccessary, any capship apart from a Yui or a Hood will run from this mighty vessel. An expression that Questers really does rule the waves.

History: The Hood has just been launched. Its five sisters are about to follow. While th world is marvelling at their construction, QAE has already broken open the champagne a long while back and started designing Renown. These ship were to accompany Hood, and already the lessons learnt from Hood were being incorporated here. It was decided a longer beam was needed, so a trimaran form was chosen; first the beam was set at 268m, Hood's. Then it was further advanced to 290m, and then once again to 315m. The length had already been set, and draught was just a matter of stability issues which was finally settled. In fact, while defenses ministries and admiralties across the world were being sick with the news of Hood's launch, Renown's test form was already cruising along. Of course, she was to scale, and she performed beautifully. Construction began, and then there was a hitch - it was remembered that Renown was meant to be shorter than Hood, and preliminary leaked numbers had stated she was longer. This was quickly rectified and soon, Renown was well under construction. The admiralty never specified a speed, but they were pleasently surprised when QAE announced a speed of 26 knots top and a turning speed of 16km. Waterjets and nuclear with steam boilers was obviously the chosen method. Some environmental concerns were found when it was discovered just how much smoke the Renown put out of her funnels; this was quickly discarded as 'irrelevent information.' A problem with acquiring the tungsten was found and work was delayed; it was decided to decrease the amount of tungsten used, at that point. The design would have more HSLA steel and titanium to compensate. Renown was finally launched, and so marked the last heavy capital ship of the Royal Navy. End of an era.

Construction: The construction of the Renown was based around defense, and firepower. Therefore, it was decided that the turrets should be laid down in the ABC, PQ, and XYZ configuration with all quadruple turrets. She uses the standard armour system with heavy reinforcement and a long titanium keel reinforcement. The problem that Hood suffered with VLS defense on the bow has been solved with better application of missile placement and weight and as a result the ship is stronger and steadier. The superstructure is scattered - one large piece towards the centre of the ship, behind C turret and ahead of P turret with three funnels and all the main electronics. Crew compartments are scattered around the fore of the ship mostly, with some underneath the superstructure. A total of four great mess rooms allow the crew to eat well, with supply bunkers for 18 months supplies, including fresh water. She has a high metacentric height, though this is countered with her large draught. This gives the ship a steady roll with a roll time of 15 seconds, making a good gunboat. She has two rudders, one extremely larger and another quite smaller, all along the centreline. The trimaran hulls themselves are not powered but they do have six pods (each) with 100,000 SHP of power for additional power and manouvering. The bridge windows are 60mm thick perspex that is shatter and bulletproof.

Decoy Information: Thirty 'Gambit' class anti missile decoy systems placed strategically over the ship / fourteen 'Royal Ascot' class anti torpedo decoy systems placed over the ship on the aft and the main superstructure.
Pumping and Flooding: An extensive amount of pumping and flooding systems around the edge of the ship which are easily acessable allow quick pumping and the ship may recover from a list of 23 degrees - though the ship may be useless anyway by the time it is listing that heavily. It takes only four minutes with no warning for a magazine to be flooded. All the underwater bulkheads and doors are controllable from the bridge and the command room in case of a major fire, any door can be locked down by the CO or a lower officer from authorisation by the CO.
NBC: The ship is fully NBC protected and MOPP gear is provided for all officers and necessary personnel. If buttoned down a chemical or biological attack will not theoretically reduce fighting effectiveness. All turrets are fully sealed from an NBC attack.
Boats:20 x 50 man boats, 400x 10 man blowup boats provided.
Safety Procedures: No ready-use compartments, magazines fully protected by 2 layer wet+dry style system, all magazines can be flooded within 4 minutes.

dosent a Prince of Whales and 2 Hoods, along with some escort ships count as 'serious negotiation'?
Our entire navy is either Questers equipment, or Franberrian made

and the Renown would look sweet on the order of battle
