Hevena

OOC: Hoping to get back into RPing here, figure a new intro to introduce my nation, in a new spectrum..for reference, Hevena is basically a nation emcompassing what would be Germany(Geographically, it's 1815 borders), the former Austro-Hungarian empire, and parts of Northern Italy. Of course, it's not on earth, perse anyways.... It's a modern Holy Roman empire.
Istria, Hevena:
"Your grace, it is a pleasure to welcome you to Istria. It's been a resort town for many centuries along the Spectrian coast. Many emperors have stayed here, you are just one of many."
The town mayor, in his pomp and refinery, really didn't amuse the Emperor, Joseph von Belek. Then again, not much did. He was a powerless man, dictated by his favorite courtiers and ministers. Hevena was dying; but no one seemed to care. It was like Rome. Dead but refusing to die. But no skin off the nose of the royals and nobles; if they didn't care, no one did.
"Thank you, but I am not staying for long. Only to inspect the coastal defenses. Then I'll be heading back to Isai to enjoy the remainder of winter. I assume that all is fine here?" Joseph was curt, yet his stupidity could be heard without even looking at him. It was well known that his speech had been prepared by someone else. His tone..was not right for the words he spoke.
"Some rebel activity sir, has been cutting rail-lines and disturbing local industry. But it's been peaceful. Perhaps, of course..you should attempt to curtail these rebellions. Give in to the Avant Démocratique Libéral Modéré...or atleast the Kommunistischer Auftrag."
There was a cough, as a minister made himself known to the mayor. The emperor seemed confused, as it was. He really didn't know what the mayor was saying. Someone had to step in.
"His majesty should not be bothered with politics. And neither will he support either of these revolting peasants! Both are bringing Hevena down. Autocracy is what she needs. Not democracy! And certainly not communism! But I digress. I ask that you go alert Admiral Van. The southern provinces have declared their independence..."
--
For 28 years Hevena was torn. The southern provinces of Hevena, mostly Slavic and Orthodox practicing declared their freedom on that day. Of course, such revolts were stopped, but at the cost of the northern-most regions forming independent communes, and the Italian speaking lands proclaiming their own kingdom. The east was no better. But from these ashes, a young general made himself known. Baron Julien D'Est. Only in his late thirties, but skilled. He was best known at the Battle of Merez, where he defeated a rebel force two times larger than his own Imperial army.
Yet Julien's brilliance led to arrogance. Five years into the war, he preformed a military coup, overthrowing the mentally weak Emperor along with his empire, proclaiming a military Junta. Victories against the rebels--democrats and communists continued, but Hevena was shaken and weak. She needed order, and the fueding system established centuries ago was not doing it. Not even a year into the military dictatorship, Julien was assassinated, and "Imperial" successes died with him. The capital was sacked and held by a variation of the communist, democratic, and "imperial" forces numerous times after Julien's death. For over a decade, turmoil and weakness shook Hevena. Inept military rule caused only further decline.
But in the last few years of the civil war, another general took up arms to save Hevena, as a whole. He was uneffected by petty feuds between generals, and the rements of the imperial court--Field Marshal Leopold von Avanras. Leopold led the tattered remains of Hevena to victory. The north was subdued, and the Italian lands brought back into the main-stream of the empire. Reforms were carried out at once; military rule was abolished, a senate(albiet a very powerless one, a practical puppet to the emperor), and a Reichskanzler position was created to oversee democracy in the empire. Lastly, Leopold became emperor. Formly, the civil war ended.

FROM: The Holy Roman Empire of Hevena
Rebuilding has occured, and formly our twenty or so year civil war has ended. Peace has been restored, with the thanks of the Avant Démocratique Libéral Modéré, and Communist opposition has been uprooted. We are happy to say that we have also established a democracy, and free elections shall be soon. We are looking forward to returning to main-stream society.
