On this thread, I will explain the tech that my craft use as they fly throught out the worlds of The American Privateer and The Longinean Order.
Helicon Double-Layer Thruster

The HDLT comprises of a glass tube suspended in a superconductive gel and wrapped in a copper wire. Hydrogen gas is flushed into the tube, and converted into plasma (electrons, ions, and hydrogen atoms), as it gets pushed out a special magnetic field shaped around a Da Laval nozzel, at speeds of 40 thousand miles per hour.
Starjammer Sails

The Magnetically Charged Solar Sails, known as Starjammers, capture the plasma ejected by a star, and use it to propell the ship forward. The photons colliding with the sails also provides some of the power for the vessel. The Starjammer Sails allow the ship to reach speeds of upwards of 2 million miles per hour, around .003% the speed of light.
Diamond Memory Computers

Diamond Based computers use the crystallized nature of the diamond, along with the 32 states of the atom, to boost memory to 30 GB for a one carat diamond, 60 for a two carat diamond, 90 for a three carat diamond, and so on and so-forth.
Super Luminal Communication

Using Coaxial Photonic Crystal wires, the communications on board ships are able to move from place to place at three times the speed of light.
Wildcat Nuclear Reactor

Running off specially processed Uranium, the Wildcat reactor is able to run for over thrity years before needing even one of it's twenty fuel rods replaced.
Rail Guns

Using a combination of a large rail and a set of coils, the TAP Railgun is specially designed to propell a tungsten shell filled with a ferride carbon core. If you have ever seen a Hollow Point shell break up on impact, you have an idea of just what the Rail Guns shells do upon impact with their target.
