That said, I would like somebody to play the defenders down there.)

IC:
The Acceptor crouched in its net of sensory amplifiers, focusing its mind on the planet below. It idly touched a few minds below, the scurrying mass of fleshy, oily, hairy beings that had built their city, a city of metal and glass, below. Weaving carefully between what few defences these creatures had, the Acceptor found one who seemed to be important.
It leapt.
The beings mind was full of...sensations. It was cluttered with the trash of years, and...lonely? That was perhaps the term. The Acceptor sampled the sensation with the care of one tasting a fine wine, knowing that if it lingered too long on this subject that its masters would punish it. It moved on through the mind, searching, and eventually found what it was looking for.
There...
Withdrawing quickly, the thing hadnt even noticed its presence, such pathetic creatures, the Acceptor stepped out of the net, manuvering its many legs so as to stand square on the blue floor of the Redeemer's bridge. The Masters, Tandu to themselves, watched it with unblinking eyes.
"They call themselves 'humans', mammals, soft on the inside and the outside, maybe a few crunchy bits, they are no threat. No defences, this is not a military installation, perhaps only a few weapons in that place, but there is a military place some distance away, possibly a threat. Maybe not.
The Masters nodded, and the Acceptor made its way back to its quarters.

---

"The Acceptor is not always right, Fleet Commander." One of the Detectors gestured to the display, "The city is built of metal, no race would be foolish enough to construct such buildings and leave them undefended."
The Fleet Commander chittered to itself and adjusted its back legs so as to rest more comfortably, then tapped one of the many buttons near the display screen, which flashed to the military base. "The city is defended, this is what guards it from us, and this is what we must remove before we can begin our attack. We have no choice, besides. There is no more fuel for the colony ships and we run low on food. Signal the rest of the fleet to enter orbit. We attack here."

---

The Tandu ships flashed into existance a mere five hundred miles from the planet, seemingly a fleet of huge dragonflies, covered in spires and, indeed, horribly beweaponed. Shining instruments of death turned on their gimbals and picked out various targets in near space, launching bursts of energy at the odd metal constructs orbitting the planet.
At the same time, hundreds, maybe thosands, of pods hit the planets atmosphere, each one containing a few Tandu warriors geared up for a fight.

"Now this is the life!" Rufio said to himself as he took another sip of his drink and reclined in his chair. How lucky he'd been of late, thanks to that newcomer to the races, he made enough money on his bets to buy the small ship in which he sat now, and was beginning to turn a good bit of coin from his new trade.

Taking another sip, he considered his current cargo. Simple luxuries that he himself had bought and hoped to sell to the shops of the planet, and a package that a wealthy man had sent to be delivered at his relatives house, paid a good penny for the delivery as well. Yes, all was turning out.

"Hey, Captain," said his only crewman, Alexander, nervously as a beeping noise eminated from the panel infront of him.

"What is it, Al?" asked Rufio as he set down his glass and sat up straight in his chair. Judging by Alex's voice, he guessed they had stumbled upon some pirates. This system wasn't the best for clear space, but it did pay well for merchandise because of it.

"I think our destination is under attack..." the first mate said.

Rufio jumped a bit, and an expression of puzzlement grew on his face. The people of this sector had always been peaceful enough, why would anyone want to attack them. "Take us to the other side of the planet and move in, even if they are under siege, we need to deliver our cargo or we could receive a bad reputation."

The small corvette slid through the blackness, making its way to the still peaceful side of the planet at top speed. The four engines burned bright blue light, and the automated weapons systems were turned on and ready just incase anything should happen.

A Frigget ship moved through the depths of space.

Michiko was one of the ANGEL Pilots assigned to protect it.

"All right we are entering a nebula. All piolits be on guard."

The Mega Ship and five snumb fighters entered along with it. Suddenly.

"Standby, I'm picking up signals." Said Saki, another ANGEL piolet.

"Enemy fighters 12 o'clock" Michicko said

The snub fighters scrambled about through the thick nebula, trying to protect the ship. No such luck. It's blown apart in minutes.

Michiko: "Damn."

Suddenly, sceenery went blue.

"Hate to break it Michiko, we're all dead." Called her commander.

"Sorry ma'am, I'll do better next time."

"You better."

She got out of the simulation, along with her freind Saki.

"That's the second time you failed Michiko."

"I know, I know, I've just got to rember my manuvers for nebula fighting."

"Don't worry about it, they won't throw you off the team."

"But they will demote me. I'll probably be doing Aqua Patrols at this rate. I hate the sea."

The Nebulon Cruisers Wise Eagle and Ancient Wolf, along with the Thantra Class Cruisers Primal Wolf, and Primal Raptor where escorting the terraformer Cabo when they dropped out of hyperspace to investigte the backwater system, hoping to find a world they could terraform with the new sand trout that they had recently purchased.

"Sir, I am getting strange readings of ships in orbit around the system's habitatible planet. Also, it seems they are not of Human origin." The sensors officer of the Ancient Wolf called out.

"Roger that. Comms, open a channel to the unknown ships." The captain responded.

"All comm lines open sir," the officer called.

"This is Captain James Monroe of the USS Ancient Wolf to the unkown ships in orbit of the habitated world, please respond over," As the comm line went down, he activated the scrambler lines to the other ships, "Activate shields to 50%, I want all fighters preped and ready, these guys could be hostile."

A small group of four, single banner, transports where passing through the system, heading home after having picked up the team from Mandal Motors' Clone Training Facility

The four ships came out of fold-space as they prepared to move onto their new vectors.

"Your grace, we are reading that this planet is under attack. Intel syas christians may be present."

The Captain, a Mngr. Heinrich de Lupe, turned and faced the holo-board showing the system, "Deploy our forces to the planet's surface. Divide them among the four most heavily populated areas. They are to divide into lances upon arrival, and take out forces with extreme prejudice."

In the crew holds, the knights in the bay geared up. In each ship, ten men in white armor with a red cross on the front and back grabbed a force lance and a lightsaber, and jumped upon their speeder bikes, waiting for their ships to arrive on planet.

OOC: their are a total of 40 knights, who will devide into groups of two knights upon arrival. And Mngr = Monsignor.

(OOC: Just to make things clear to everybody, theres going to be about 4.8 million Tandu landing on that planet, most of them with SOME kind of weaponry. Yes, I realize that its most of my population, and no, they arent military. But the Tandu are rather desperate, y'see, theyve been cramped into ships for the last two years looking for a decent planet.)

IC:
The Tandu response to the other ships in the region was clear and precise, leaving out no detail and giving a very clear message of exactly what the Tandu wanted:
"Flesh bags known as 'Human', I am the Chief Stalker of the Tandu Fleet. We have claimed this planet as our own. Leave now and you will not be harmed. Intervene and you will be destroyed."
In response to this, roughly half the Tandu fleet of some fifty ships turned to face the TAP ships, not moving forward, but indicating with extreme clarity that forward movement was only a matter of time.

---

On the surface, the sleeping city woke to chaos.
Tandu landing pods rained from the sky, unleashing hordes of skittering death onto the streets and into buildings. The streets were littered with glass and, in some places, assorted Tandu and Human parts. Human screams and Tandu chitterings swept through the city, leaving trails of destruction and mayhem as crowds of humans sought some sanctuary.
There was little hope though. The Tandu were fast and mercilessly good shots. They were not cruel, they took no apparent pleasure in crippling their prey as it fled. They shot to kill and nothing else.
Perhaps what would have offended other species sense of ethics was the fact that the Tandu killed EVERYTHING. Humans, men, women and children, died. Their pets died. Even a few of the larger plants were burned. Charred corpses littered the streets, burnt out vehicles were scattered around. Few buildings were damaged below the tenth story, the Tandu did not loot, for there was nothing they recognized nor wanted in these buildings, a few broken windows from stray shots and human looters (there werent many of these) was all the damage these buildings took, aside from the pods crashing into upper stories.
In the city center a skyscraper, already holed by six drop pods passing through it, collapsed on its own weight, taking out one of the few human strongpoints left in the city.
In a matter of a few hours, the city was nearly leveled and a population of what might have been millions was reduced to a few thosand feeling humans, pursued by a skirmishing force in light vehicles.

The sight of Longinean ships entering the atmosphere didnt seem to deter them much at all. A few craft detached themselves from the main Tandu ground force and began to take potshots at the distant ships, but it seemed that the Tandu were not eager to bring down their foes in the air.
A few Tandu, taller than the others and with blue-coloured markings in strange patterns on their chitin, materialized from the ranks of chittering warriors, bearing with them long blades adapted for use by a species capable of using four hands.
These moved to the front of the lines, stopping some fifty feet to the front and waited.

Dont jump in with half your fleet that just HAPPENS to be patrolling some backwater planet on the edge of the galaxy. Dont bring in your giant uber-ship o' doom. Doing so will result in, ZOMGIGNORATIONZ!

Oh, and you appear to be a man (or woman, alternatively) after my own heart. You even use 'Z's on the front of your OMGs when mocking noobs (or something derived from noobs)! ^_^

IC: Lieutenant Johnson fired twice, bullets harmlessly deflected. He cursed, and turned to run, as he felt his torso violated, he sunk to the ground, clawing at the air as he did so. It had been a slaughter. His wife, his family, his pets... The city had fallen easily.

But those sonofabitches weren't going to get off easily. He knew the government had been storing some nuclear ordinance, as his commander like to say, to the north. Damn. His commander was dead too.. And he was now. He just hoped his friends managed to get a nuke off, and show those evil scum exactly were...

His thoughts cut off as blood loss and pain brought him into unconsciousness, shortly followed by death.

"Group up! There's a forest nearby! We'll divide and hide in there."

Sixty men scrambled up, armed with guns and with a few explosives here and there, and started running into the forest. Others followed them, all running in different directions, whilst trying to fight off the force following them. It was likely that they could defeat the force following them, if they were lucky, but luck would no doubt help the entire enemy army butcher them. They were as good as dead, and they knew it. Most of them were military types, however, with the presence of mind to get the hell out of the city when it was undergoing the slaughter that had just taken place.

"You sons of bitches! You're all dead! Hear me? DEAD!", a woman screamed, and then a bullet ripped her apart, and she sort of.. folded up, and collapsed. They kept running. There really wasn't anything else she could do.

Tam, a young man, just enlisted in the military, was one of the most promising for survival there. He had already reached the wood, and had hidden behind a tree, holstering his previous drawn gun as he did so.

Get down. Get down. The message echoed through his head. He'd be safe for any enemy attack underground. He didn't have a shovel.. but there were some nearby tree roots, around which the dirt had been worn away through erosion. He clambered under it. He could sit up, and he was completely hidden from view, no matter how he was looked at. He could probably get a first shot off, at least, if the aliens came here.

Meanwhile, other survivors were straggling through the forest, with no sense of hope. Their only chance of survival, or at least revenge, was to get some sort of message off..

RCVF Swarm Ship Thunder's Path

Sub-Ship Master Alex Novok ambled around his large transport. He watched the jump counter uneasily, as jumps with large fleets was always dangerous, espacially when the High Command wanted perfection. He checked and double checked their VL-Space flight plan, even a marginal .01% miscalculation could take them a five hundred kilometers off-course, into another ship, ending their voyage real fast. Novok eyed the counter, two minutes and twenty seconds.

"Helm, is everything set up?" he asked in a hard, commanding tone.

"Yes, sir. Target coordinates hardening up, securing all hatches and flaps, retracting grappling arms."

There was a clipping sound as the four arms on the ship retracted, folded, and came back into a position behind the sleek troop transport. The arms were very simple, they extended past the front of the ship and could easily penetrate thick hull armour and secure the ship on an enemy vessel. But the real power was the fact that the entire transport could be propelled by these arms, punching rapidly on board with the sharp nose, hopefully into a passable deck. The counter ticked, thirty seconds. Novok held his breath, the battle group was supposedly going to emerge in perfect formation. But nothing involving VL-Space jumps was ever perfect. Ten seconds. Novok breathed a shallow breath, and punched the button as the counter spun to zero.

The red depths of the Vlerov-Lexin Space portal reached out with inky black tentacles and pulled the ship inside. Novok sunk into his chair, this was the easy part. He looked outside the viewport, and noticed something strange, the red part of VL-Space was... different. Instead of the normal, blood red, it had turned into a clear, blue.

"VL-Space... seriously.. messed up, sir."

The bottom fell out of Novok's stomach with a sudden realization, this was not VL-Space, or even normal space...

"Brace for--"

The world suddenly went dark.

The Melii Confederation had been keeping an observant Eye on this Upliftverse subsector Tandu contact of the Brinn metaverse of the Infinite Chaos. The Melii had never existed in this sector. The Great Sundering that had scattered the Human Tribes of Holy Terra had only began in this Verse Eddy. It ran into some rather complicated obstructions upon entering the local space.

Namely said humans had ran into one of the more agressive and paranoid denizens of the Brinn mataverse, Uplift Universe, subsector Tandu contact. In many of the other Timestreams the humans had been consumed and enslaved by the Galactics. Holy Terra had been stripped of her peoples and left to lie Fallow.

These Galactic Institutes had become nightmares of offices and fiefdoms. Another great Time of Changes was soon approaching. In barely three centuries, the United Galaxies would be losing another to the Void. It would be left with but half of the original cluster, and it would be centuries, millenia, millions of them perhaps before the Galaxies recovered from this cycle of Dark Ages.

It would be thousands of times worse than the Asimov Metaverse sector Foundation's millenium of Darkness.

The Gaia World Ship (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=11009139#post11009139) agreed. <won't send her! probably just a twig>
Until further information was gathered they would have to wait.
They reviewed the Tandu files (http://www.geocities.com/allianceforprogress/encyclopedia/orders/creatures/t.html) in the Encyclopedia Galactica. <for those unfamilar with the Tandu.>

The Longinean forces dropped onto the surface of the world and roared into action. All across the planet's surface, they raged, rounding up christians into their drop ships, and transporting them to a remote Gothic Cathedral, where a beacon had been placed for the placement of Infantry later. One group of Longinean Knights roared throught the city, lowering their lances and striking at their enemies with lightning speed.

Meanwhile, a slip-beacon had been launched at the homeworld, bearing a description of what was happening, along with orders to the Mandal Motors Cloning facility to send all knights to this planet. Though it would take a few days to get back, their tesseract generators would get them here sooner than anyone could imagine.

The Tandu made no response to the screams, mostly they didnt understand them anyway. The only response was further contempt of Humans in general for giving away their positions in fruitless gestures of defiance, so it seemed. The colonists, following behind the warriors, cleared or demolished the remaining buildings quickly and effeciently, a few secured weapons dropped by either Tandu or humans in the fighting. Some firearm was better than none.
Tandu forces outside the city closed on the woods, not entering them, but maintaining a perimeter around the edge. Tanks were carefully positioned around for a good field of fire.
With that, they opened up on the woods. The tanks had enough firepower to level a building by themselves, and the dual rapid fire cannons mounted on the turret could destroy many 'modern' tanks in a few shots. A few warriors had opened up with flamethrowers or incindiary grenades, while snipers nearby picked off those that fled from cover.
The arrival of yet another ship went unnoticed, it was just another target, in the grand scheme of things.
The Stalkers, the blue-tattoed Tandu, screeched something, then one, consulting with the Acceptor, broadcast in English, "Knights! W-w-we call you t-t-t-to honour combat! F-f-for the f-fate of t-t-his planet...victory, we will leave, you fail, you leave. We await your answer, fleshbags."

---

On the command ship, the Acceptor was litterally twitching with joy. In its idle explorations of the planet, it had come upon the Knights, and was now totally focused on them, ignoring all else. There were no words for what it was going through, it was simply very, very happy.

Onboard the (crashed) RCVF Thunder's Path

Novok sat up on the ground near the front of the command room. He had been flung from his chair, and probably impacted the wall. He shook his head and spat out blood. Others in the command had already recovered and had opened the hatch leading towards the troop readiness area. Novok mustered the strength to speak.

"What happened, lieutennant?"

"We jumped into a planet hidden from our sensors, actually sir, we are extremely lucky to be alive," the young woman told him.

Novok spat out more blood, "lucky indeed, try to get an outboard hatch open, please."

"Already done, sir."

Novok rose uneasily to his feet, taking a moment to regain his composure. He followed the woman to the main troop depository, which lead down a makeshift ramp. The ramp extended at least four units down, exeedingly strange, since the depository was angled slightly down. The realization struck Novok, his ship was upside down, and he was walking on the roof of the halls. The Sub-Ship Master scratched his head, he must have hit it harder than he realized.

The two Navy officers walked outside, the crew had set up a small camp, and two patrols of four soldiers already walked around the perimeter. Novok noticed a beautiful forest, and a city off in the distance. The woman pointed out that the city to the 'west' appeared to be unaware of his ship's presense, but that was a guess at best, and a false comfort at worst. Novok pulled out his pistol, a standard projectile gas-powered weapon, fully loaded and ready to fire. Novok switched the safety back on and holstered the weapon. Alex Novok shook his head.

"Its never easy.."

The TAP forces arrived in system, escorting their allies, The Longinean Order. As they received their orders, the Longineans moved their bikes into the cargo bays, and dropped into the atmosphere, along with all of the shuttles that the Privateer forces could muster.

"This is Admiral Danforth of the USS Theodore Roosevelt to Admiral of the Fleet Jack Ray. We require the use of the complete military Space Lift Command. I repeat, all vessels must be mobilized now."

However, Admiral Danforth knew that only 2/3 of those left on the planet's surface would make it off before the deadline.

As the ships made repeated runs up to the Privateer and Longinean naval vessels.

All the while, the original forty knights prayed, hoping that they would be able to win their individual battles.

Their tanks withdrew to the ruins of the city, where the crews emerged and began to clean their vehicles.
The Stalkers remained where they had been when the challenge was issued, most were 'sitting' now, their abdomens withdrawn under them, bracing with their second set of legs to avoid falling over. A few were engaged in a slow sparring match, apparently warming up.

As noon aproached, and the last transports where making runs to try and save as many of the people as they could, The Knights stepped out of the Forrest. They stood on the edge of the woods, shields and lightsabers in hands. Dressed like a cross between a clone trooper and a medievil knight, they stood, waiting for the sun to reach high noon.

Behind the Tandu lines, cells of TAP commandos where teleported, ready to do whatever was necessary to prevent the Tandu from moving on the fortress that the TAP engineers had built in the mountains.

The sun reached High noon. With the characteristic snap-pop-buzz, the knights ignited their lightsabers, the beams of red light played upon the ground, casting the right sides of their armor in a redish glow. They marched forward, faces barred, eyeing up the competetion.

seeing the nervousness of the men, their commander, the marshall of the forces called out, "Men, Today we march not for our on glory, but so that those we did not have time to save may be saved. We fight for the freedom from fear, and the freedom to live. Today, we declare that The Knights of St. Longinus are here, a bastion of freedom, fighting in the name of the Most High Jesus Christ. Today we fight. If you find yourself on this day walking through the doors of a meadhall, know you have reached Heroes Hall, and shall be dining with S.t Michael on this very night. Now, let us go, and let us tear these alien invaders, and send them to meet their makers."

With a roaring cheer they strode forward. Behind them, came the Seneschal of their forces, bearing the black and white beausaunt banner that they had inherited from the Templars.

"I am Skthaar, the Lead Stalker of this force. Where is your leader?"

"I am His Grace, the Archbishop, Marshall Heinrich de Silva. I am here to present my champion, the Brother Friedrich von Erheart, the most powerful man in our force, he is the one whom shall fight for us."

The young man stepped forward. Though his armor hid it, he was lithe and yet strong. The man was amazingly dexterous, able to wiggle his way through any obstacle.

He raised his lightsaber up in front of his face, and snapped it down in the traditional salute one gives his enemy.

He then moved into an un-orthodox guard, with the shield presented forward, and the blade held horizontal to the ground so that it protruded over his shield.

"I am ready," the mechanical voice called out.

OOC: Brother Friedrich was born with a malformed vocal cord, therefore, he cannot speak, and uses a digital voice synthesizer to communicate.

The Wings Finally Arrived, Big Super Carrier Ships, one with a Giant A with wings on it's side, the other with a giant Triangel.

Michiko and the other units flew out, preparing for attack. Unit 01 pilot Bella Hudson called out: "All units report in."

The roll call was swift, and over quickly.

"Prepare for attack."

"Michiko, this is Unit 03, (Saki) convert to forward rayshields."

"Roger that. Targeting gogles activate."

"This is Unit 01, all units stand by for Delata."

A male pilot in a Delta Snub Fighter talked into the radio "This is Delta 01, all units are ready, wating for you Angel Girls."

"This is Angel 01, all units move in for attack."

All the snub fighters dashed into attack, lasers ready and firing. Blures of white, blue, and pink flashed through the stary canvas of space.

Taking the oppurtunity, The American Privateer Fleet deployed their fighters as they jumped to the nearest habitatable world. Vipers, K-Wings, B-Wings, X-Wings, massive squadrons of these fighters boiled out into space, as more and more of the vessels arrived.

The Vipers used pinpoint jumps to appear in the middle of the Tandu fleet, and strike out in all directions. The K-Wings jumped to the rear of the fleet, firing their massive salvos of missiles and torpedoes swarmed at the exposed engines, hoping to cripple the fleet and kill as many as possible.

The X-Wings and B-Wings meanwhile dove straight in.

As the YT Freighters returned from dropping off the people, they to dove in, using heir weapons to help sow even more chaos in the opposing fleet.

OOC: Though I control both OOC, IC, these are two seperate, allied nations. The American Privateer is not bound to the agreements of The Longinean Order.

Missles fired from every which way.

"This is Delta 01, watch for freindly fighters."

"Which ones are freindly?" Michiko asked, there were so many fighters, she couldn't keep track.

"This is Angel 01, avoid the use of homing missles unless you can deterimn a target is hostel."

The leader of the TAP starfighters contacted her Kanami counterpart, "Sending the FoF transponder signal now, glad to support you."

And she had her R2 unit send the transponder signals to the Kanami Starfighter command.

The FoF signals helped considerably.

"This Angel 01, thanks for the help."

"This is Delta 01, likewise."

On the ground, the TAP Commando Cells took up positions in the sewer systems, preparing locations for use as Splinter Cell bases.

Laser Rifles, Blastswords, Armor, Heavy Weapons, all where placed in their positions.

over all, each cell comprised of around fifteen men, all of whom had a different job to do.

One cell, located in the center of the city, released viruses like Influenza Espanola, Influenza Avian, West Nile, etc. Viruses that they had been inoculated for, but which would possibly be dangerous to the invading forces.

(OOC:
So, your breaking our cease fire?
And Earth-based viruses wouldnt affect the Tandu...they have an entirly different body chemistry than humans. That and even if they WERE vulnerable to such viruses, they would have been innoculated to their alien equivalents.)

OOC: no, The American Privateer never agreed to a cease fire, they refrained because it suited them. The Longinean Order signed the cease-fire, not TAP. And on the viruses, hey, it worked against the Martians, so it was sorth a shot.

The American Privateer Fleet returned, taking up positions around the Tandu Fleet. The two Sovereign SSD's took up positions and activated their gravity wells, while the Sovereign Class Explorers swept over the northern reaches, teleporting up as many as they could, fearing that the champion of the Longinean's might fail.

OOC: my full fleet can be found here, the TAP Info Page (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/TheAmericanPrivateer)
