Background:
After a turbulant period of varous inter city state warfare, the five main states decided to finially put aside their differences in 2004 and unite into one nation, The Incorperated States of Hyst. In the last two years the country has heavly invested in it's economic developement and defensive systems. Over the two years three additional states had decided to incorperate and were intigrated into the nation. Tramatic experiences in the nation's history were the Civil War (3/2005-11/2005). The economy is marked by great growth, low unemployment and inflation, and rapid advances in technology.

Economy
Economy - overview:
Hyst has a large and technologically powerful economy, with a per capita GDP of $31,600. In this market-oriented economy, private individuals and business firms make most of the decisions, and the federal and state governments buy needed goods and services predominantly in the private marketplace. Hyst business firms enjoy greater flexibility in decisions to expand capital plant, to lay off surplus workers, and to develop new products. At the same time, they face few barriers to enter their rivals' home markets than foreign firms face entering Hyst markets. Hyst firms are at or near the forefront in technological advances, especially in computers and in medical, aerospace, and military equipment; their advantage has only recently been attained due to major economic agreements. The onrush of technology largely explains the gradual development of a nominal "two-tier labor market" in which those at the bottom lack the education and the professional/technical skills of those at the top and, more and more, fail to get comparable pay raises, health insurance coverage, and other benefits. The rise in GDP in recently was undergirded by substantial gains in labor productivity. With the exeception in lumber production, Hyst has large surpluses of both petroleam and natural gas, imported oil accounts for less than 5% of Hyst consumption. Long-term problems include rapidly rising medical costs and stagnation of family income in the lower economic groups.
