Riverport Declares Independence! (Closed)

Riverport

The Community of Riverport, formerly part of the North Frost Empire, has declared it's independence and has begun building an army.

Background
The Portian Peninsula had been part of the North Frost Empire for almost 100 years after North Frost conquered the Kingdom of Riverport in a bloody war. However, the Portians refused to allow North Frost to turn their environmental paradise into a giant slave labor camp and continued fighting even after the war ended. Finally the North Frost Emperor decided to stop the rebellion by splitting the peninsula into two zones, an environmental land in the north, and an industrial land in the south.

The Rebellion Begins
After losing a war recently, the North Frost Military decided that the best way to make up for thier land loses would be to industrialize the resource-rich northern peninsula. The Portians, loving nature and their environment, immediately took up arms to fight the North Frost soldiers. At the same time, the Portian Council in charge of the environmental northern peninsula decided that it was time that Riverport be rebuilt and freed from these money-hungry monsters. They announced on all the radio stations of the peninsula that it was time for the Portians to be free again. Organization of the first Portian Army in over one hundred years began but the council knew that this would be a tough war.

Information on Riverport
The Portian Peninsula is a small peninsula shaped like Korea. The north is covered in jungles and mountains but in the south most of the jungles have been chopped down and giant cities and mining camps have been set up. Dividing the two lands is a large river with four massive bridges crossing them, two controlled by the Portians and two by North Frost. The north has small villages all across it and the capital is the only city with over a million people. There are no highways and most roads are dirt or gravel. Because of Portians's love on nature, no tunnels are dug out through mountains. Natural mountain paths are the only way to get through mountains, making travel through those areas very difficult. Mountain villages are usually cut off from the rest of the area except for by radio. The rest of the north's villages are small and have old technoligy. They use radios instead of tvs and barely anyone has cars. The capital is the only place with an airport and has better technoligy, such as tvs, cars, planes, and other stuff. The capital city is in the center of the north and has five rivers running through it from across the country. The south is much different since North Frost has got to do what it wants for 100 years. Almost all the jungle has been chopped down and giant disgusting cities cover the land. Since there are no pollution controls or recycling, there are giant trash pits and tons of smog. The mountains have been destroyed by blowing them up to build roads and tons of mining which has left giant pits. Most of the rivers are too polluted to drink from so they have to be processed first, which dumps dangerous leftover chemicals back into the rivers. Giant highways connect all the cities but they are in bad condition since the government doesn't really care about them. The Portians there are treated poorly so they can't afford cars or big houses, but the North Frost people are rich and have giant mansions and many cars. Giant military bases cover the area so North Frost can make sure the Portians don't try anything.

Aid
You can send money or army supplies to Riverport to help it's rebellion since it doesn't have an army or anything yet. Remember that the roads are bad in the north so tanks and stuff like that won't work too good. Portians also haven't fought a war in almost one hundred years so they won't know how to operate advanced technoligy. The only pilots are people that fly civilian planes and since the capital is the only place with an airport, that means there aren't very many pilots. I don't want you to send soldiers or anything like that since this is just my first war and I don't want a ton of super powerful nations getting involved. I also don't want nuclear weapons or anything super powerful like that. Missiles probably won't work either since Portians don't have anything to shoot them with and probably don't know how to work them.

"General Ludwik, you've recieved a message from the Peninsula Outpost Command."
Ludwik, General of all Northfrost forces on the Portian Peninsula, stood up from his comfy chair and walked to the messenger. He snatched the paper, pushed the man out of his office, and shut the door. When POC sent letters, it always meant something bad. First of all, it meant it was so secret they wouldn't even risk using a secure radio channel or telephone. Second of all, it meant there was trouble if Outpost officers wouldn't risk travelling twenty miles to his office. General Ludwik sat back down, opened the envelope and read the letter silently:
"****Top Secret Eyes Only****
General Ludwik, we've recieved word that a rebellion has begun in the Portian Sector. We must supress this rebellion quickly or it could spread. You must do everything possible to ensure the Portians of the Industrial Sector don't find out or they could begin sabotaging our factories or assassinating Northfrost officials. The Minister of Colonial Defense has given you permission to use ANY means neccessary to destroy this rebellion. A task force is being assembled and will arrive in approximately 15 days. Until then, you will have to make due with the soldiers you currently possess. Do not fail your nation."
Ludwik let out a deep sigh and crumbled up the paper. He took out his lighter, lit the wad of paper on fire, then tossed it on the floor. He watched the paper dissentigrate into black spects followed by the death of the flame. He stood up and left his office, heading towards the Central Barracks. These pesky natives were determined to exhaust him until he died. He rubbed his soldier as he remembered the Portian who had tried to assassinate him years earlier. Would they succeed this time?

Portian Council Room, Riverport City

The Portians Councilmen sat at their round table, each councilman wearing the symbol of his village group on his shirt. Bao Tu was the unspoken lead councilman due to his governership over the Riverport City area, which made up a large portion of Riverport's population and economic capabilities.

He spoke first, " Councilmen of Riverport, we've gathered here today to discuss the monsters that have infected our lands and have destroyed the south. To our north and south they control our land and their ships control the seas to our east and west. Yet they do not control our spirits. The Portian people will be free at last. We shall rebuild the south into a great land of nature once again. Never again will invaders plague our lands."

Vien Quahn was next, " But what of their army? We have few soldiers and even fewer weapons. Our men do not know how to fly planes or operate artillery. We ourselves know little of these military technologies, as the North Frost Empire has cut us off from the outside world. They have crushed us before and I fear this time, not a single tree will escape their wrath."

Tu Dinh, councilman of the southern mountain region, spoke next, " And what of my people? North Frost soldiers already scare them, standing on the other side of the river with their giant cannons and machines of destruction. Their planes fly over our people's homes, scaring the children and animals. I fear that if we choose to fight them, there will be no more fear - for our people will all be dead."

Bao Tu replied calmly, " Many Portians will die in this war, but think how many more will die if we don't fight now! We already know that North Frost is planning to expand into the last of our lands. They will rape Mother Nature and destroy her creations! Our children will be their slaves and our villages will be their labor camps! Where we stand now will be a giant factory where the old will work their last days to death making guns so North Frost soldiers can kill more people elsewhere. We must stand now or we may never be able to rise again!"

The room fell silent. Thrai Xuan finally broke the silence after a few minutes, " You can count on the mountain villages of the north. We do not share the technoligy of your city, Bao, or the fear of your people, Tu, but we have hated North Frost since our forefathers first laid eyes upon them. We were the leaders of the Portian Army in the first war and we will lead them again through this war. The people of the northern mountains are not afraid. We are true warriors. We will be the first to fight for Riverport, whether your areas join or not."

The room fell silent once again. Bao nodded to Thrai in thanks. Then, one by one, the village leaders spoke up;
"The villages of the southern mountains will fight with you. North Frost shall scare our children no more."
"The sea people of the eastern coast will join as well. We may not know how to fight, but our boats can navigate any rivers without breaking or tipping."
"The sea people of the western coast will do the same as our coastal brothers. Our sails never tear and our paddles never break."
Bao spoke last, " Your know that Riverport City and it's sister villages will do anything they can to destroy North Frost. Never have North Frost troops stepped foot in our city and they never will. The Portian Army shall be rebuilt bigger, stronger, and more modern than ever before."

OOC: Btw, Northfrost is one word. It's no big deal, it was just bothering me a little.

Three Northfrost helicopters crossed the Border River seperating environmental territory from industrial territory beginning Operation Supression. They flew over the jungle-covered mountains and, after a few minutes of searching the mountain sides, discovered their first victims. A small Portian village sat nestled between two tall cliffs - easy target practice for the Northfrost machine gunners. The UH-1s dropped in altitude and circled twice so the machine gunners could select their targets. On the third time, a hail of bullets rained down on the village. Huts were reduced to piles of debree, men, women, and children all perished trying to flee. With a machine gunner on each side, the helicopters could continue firing no matter which direction they faced. After just a few minutes, all machine guns ceased firing. The entire village had been decimated. The three helicopters circled a few more times to ensure no one had escaped and then headed back home.

The Northfrost Peninsula Fleet mobilized for the first time in decades. The two Iowa Class battleships - The PB-1 (Peninsula Battleship 1) and PB-2 - each moved to one coast of the environmental sector and began attacking Portian ships, both civilian and any naval ships they might possess. The only aircraft carrier of the Peninsula Fleet, the PC-1, moved to the east coast of the peninsula, armed with four SU-27s and two UH-1s. The only other ships of the Portian Fleet, two Type-42 destroyers and two Zulu Class submarines, split up to help the battleships destroy any Portian ships. Not even a one-man fishing boat would escape them.

The Republic of Silver Industria, fellow enemies of Northfrost and feeling partially responsible for this war (that war Northfrost recently lost was against us), offer aid to the Community of Riverport. We first would like to ask whether you'd perfer money or equipment, as the blockade would screw up purchasing anything but Industrian military equipment is probably too advanced for the inexperienced, untrained soldiers of Riverport's army.

OOC: Sorry about the Northfrost thing. I wasn't guess I wasn't paying attention to your name. :(

Message to the Government of Silver Industria
We thank you for your donations to a just cause. The Freedom of the Portians has been denied for nearly a century but now is our chance to break the chains of oppression. We realize that our situation is very dire. The blockade makes shipping aid extremely difficult. However, we hope we can somehow find a way. As for technoligy, we are afraid our people have been cut off from the world for quite a while and have fallen behind. With some training, we could probably use semi-modern equipment but computers and complicated systems would be beyond our comprehension. Once again, we thank you for your patronage.

Don Li Bridge, Approx. 23:30

Hung Chao sat resting upon a large rock, the butt of his rifle pressed against his chest and his eye resting just inches from his scope. It wasn't a sniper rifle or anything close - he had won it when he was a teenager from a shooting competition in Riverport City. The nobs to adjust the scope had rusted long ago and were no longer useable but Hung had been practicing with the gun for years now and knew exactly how low and to the right he had to aim to get a perfect shot. He was sitting in a four-foot high cave entrance facing the bridge that lead into the industrial land.

His targets stood just three hundred feet from him, talking to each other without the slightest idea they were being watched. He had been sitting there for nearly an hour but his patience was rewarded when one of the men left his post for to relieve himself under the bridge. That left a single target standing there, alone and without a single worry. The man scanned his surroundings like a good guard, examining every moving bush and scampering mouse. Hung pointed the crosshairs just to the right of the man's mouth. Suddenly the Northfrost soldier froze. Hung's movement had briefly reflected moonlight and now the Northfrost soldier was slowly making out a face and a gun. Realizing the barrel was pointed at him, the Northfrost soldier made his last movement, attempting to turn and run. A single gunshot broke the silence of the night and the Northfrost soldier fell dead, a bullet hole through his left eyebrow. The second guard appeared from underneath the bridge to see what was happening. He hesitated as he saw his friend's body but then realized his own danger and ducked behind one of the support pillars.

Hung would have dropped the man there but his rifle's bolt refused to move. He fiddled with it for a few seconds, gave it a final, hard pull, then gave up. He dropped his gun - his favorite and only weapon for over twenty years of his life - and vanished into the back of the cave, crawling through a small passage that lead to the otherside of the mountain where he could escape. He cursed at his gun silently, imagining the glory he would have had back home when he told his family that he had killed two Northfrost soldiers in a row without missing. Now he would have to tell them that he had killed one soldier then had to flee like a coward.

General Ludwik entered the Peninsula Outpost Command building full of determination and dreams of glory. He marched up the building steps, past the security guards (although considering there's only one Northfrost general on the entire peninsula, he doesn't really need security clearance), and barged straight into the POC meeting room where they were discussing plans to expand the fishing department now that the Peninsula Navy had secured the coasts of the environmental sector. Ludwik wasted no time in getting to his point:
"Last night a Northfrost soldier was assassinated on one of the bridges crossing the Border River. We can consider that an act of war by the Portians and launch our "counterattack" now without the homeland's permission. According to Section 3b of the POC task descriptions, we have full authority to attack any nation, people, or rebellion if they struck first. All I need is your gentlemen's written permission and the environmental sector will be ours by the end of the week."
Ludwik tossed the declaration of war document on the table and waited for a response. After a few seconds, one of the ministers finally spoke up:
"What of the Portian Army? I heard they're recruiting soldiers by the day. Our forces could be outnumbered greatly."
"We possess over 570,000 soldiers at this time and more will arrive in 14 days. If they can mobilize that many soldiers in just a week, I think they deserve to win this war."
Ludwik's sarcasm didn't cause a single smile. Each of the ministers knew that if they lost this war, they wouldn't live to see their next birthday. Finally one of the ministers pulled the sheet to himself and scribbled his name quickly. He took a hard look at his name, realizing that he could be signing away not only his life but his entire family's, then passed it to the next person. One by one they signed the declaration until the paper finally sat in front of General Ludwik again.
"Thank you, gentlemen. We will not lose like the fools at Elaion."
With that, the general left the building and headed towards the barracks. He would waste no time in the attack.

Bridge C

The 1st and 2nd Brigades crossed Bridge C just after lunch (the bridges are labelled A through D from west to east by the Northfrost Military for simplicity), followed by a trail of heavy artillery, missile launchers, and supply trucks. They began their journey through the perilous mountains and finally arrived at the first Portian village. The artillery opened fire on the village, demolishing it within minutes. Northfrost soldiers dug through the remains and finished off any survivors. The Force Leader reported Northfrost's first victory in the war to General Ludwik. He was ordered to continue until he reached Riverport City.

Chi Ming Village (Less than a mile north of the invasion force's position)

The surprise attack was a devastating blow to Portian morale. The bad news came in waves - first rumors that a Northfrost Army was crossing one of the bridges, then news that they were attacking a mountain village and finally the trail of smoke and sounds of approaching vehicles. Chi Ming Village was the main Portian base for all of eastern Riverport and held over 12,600 recruits. Unfortuantly, most of these men had never shot a gun before and were scheduled to start training next week. Those plans were destroyed as the army leaders (an official ranking system hadn't even been established) began handing out any avaliable weapons, from guns to bows to knives and distributing ammunition. As the sound of enemy forces grew nearer and nearer, the army leaders finally just let the men grab their own weapons and ammo. Their only orders were to fight for the future of Riverport and the freedom of the children. The army, having had no training, had no clue what to do. Some split up into the jungle while others marched straight down the dirt road. A large portion of the forces just waited at the camp for the enemy forces to arrive. This battle would be a disaster.

Mountain villages of the south vanished quickly, their inhabitants fleeing north as quick as possible. Their villages were lit ablaze before leaving, hoping that a forest fire might erupt and halt the advance of the Northfrost soldiers. Despite their love of nature, the Portians knew that they had to do anything possible to even slow the invasion or the entire environment of the peninsula would be destroyed.

The Coasts

The naval attacks had scared the coastal villages and made the fear of starvation very real for those that depended solely on fishing for their meals. When news of the invasion reached these village, they joined the march north. However, many built makeshift boats as quickly as possible and took off to sea, more willing to risk naval attacks than trying to outrun Northfrost tanks.

Riverport City

News that enemy forces had crossed the Border River had caused panic in the capital city. Everyone knew that Riverport City would be their first target and no one wanted to be there when Northfrost soldiers arrived. A massive exodius to the north began as millions of people gathered anything they could and took off. Even the Portian Council fled, but they headed northwest by river boats, hoping to reach the mountain villages quicker where actually trained Portian soldiers lived. The only two passenger planes in Riverport took off within an hour but were so overcrowded that they had to land again in fear of crashing. However, no one was willing to leave the planes and a bloody fight erupted. In the end, the pilots were fed up with waiting and left by foot, leaving a giant brawl still raging. Within three hours, the entire city was void of life. What had once been the center of Portian life was now a ghost town.

Attack Group Alpha (the first invasion force) pushed quickly through the mountains and wilderness. The Portian attack surprised them but the inexperienced soldiers were nothing. Northfrost infantry split up into search groups and spread throughout the jungle to destroy any and all Portian attackers. Artillery and tanks took the lead, blasting their way through the Portian ranks and rolling over any that escaped the bombardment. Snipers were posted on the top of the supply trucks, allowing them to pick off stray Portian soldiers and support Northfrost search groups under fire. Within minutes the first tanks rolled into Chi Ming Village and unleashed their fury on the Portians there. Artillery arrived a few minutes later and began the bombardment of the village.

Attack Group Beta, hearing the success of Alpha group, launched their invasion an hour early and crossed Bridge A. This group had less artillery and tanks but had nearly 60,000 infantry plus air support. They moved quickly through the mountains but they quickly discovered a wall of fire blocking their path. They quickly radied General Ludwik:
"General, we have a problem. The enemy has launched a wildfire which has made our passage impossible. What should we do?"
"Don't we still have those planes that can dump water? Remember the ones we used during that blaze a few years ago?"
"We may, sir. Are you sure they can handle this? We may need firefighting crews."
"Oh, stop your whining. I'm not sending firemen into enemy territory just so you don't get little burns. The planes are all you're getting. You'd better not let them get shot down or you'll be putting out the fire with your spit, understand?"
"Yes, sir."

Southeast Environmental Area

Only a little over 900 soldiers had remained at Chi Ming and now they were facing a fiercely superior enemy. The artillery bombardment flattened the entire village, leaving not a single hut or building standing. Since most of the buildings were made out of wood and other flammable materials, a massive fire erupted due to the bombardment that cut off the Portians' retreat. They were forced to stand and fight but were quickly overpowered. Almost every single soldier was killed in this last stand, with the few survivors bravely running through the flames to warn villages up the road of the invaders.

Southwest Environmental Area

Just north of the Great Pyong Bridge (Bridge A), the fire had slowed the invaders' advance just enough to allow the mountain villages in the area to evacuate, although they were forced to leave their belongings and animals behind. Vin See, a mailman who had just happened to be in the area at the time, road ahead on his horse (which aren't very common on the peninsula) to ready boats and canoes so the refugees could quickly head north on the rivers.

Northwest Environmental Area

The Northern Mountain Villages, home to the strongest and hardiest Portians on the peninsula, finally recieved word of the invasion. Due to their isolation and the heavy snowfall due to the height of the mountains, messangers had spent hours just trying to find the villages. When they did, however, the mountains came alive. Horns were sounded across the area and drums began beating. The traditional war paint was brought out and each warrior's future was quickly read by the mountain mystic. By the end of the day, the warriors had begun their march south to war. They were followed by a massive convoy of mules, men too young to fight (according to the area's traditions, men had to be at least 20 to go to war), and wagons, all loaded with weapons and supplies for the warriors.

At Sea

One of the boats that had managed to get past the blockade was owned by the son of one of the councilmen. He had heard of Silver Industria's promises and was one of the few Portians that knew enough information on the outside world to find the island nation. He headed southwest, determined to find Silver Industria and get help for his homeland.

The SI Politburo had been monitoring the situation in Riverport carefully. The quick and seemingly unstoppable Northfrost invasion had stunned Silver Industria’s leaders, who had been planning on sending a large arms shipment to Riverport. With Riverport cut off from ocean access, however, this arms shipment seemed impossible. Finally a plan of action was decided – airlift the supplies to the remaining Portian soldiers. C-57 Galaxy Lifters were loaded with AMD-65’s (See Note at Bottom), hand grenades, and other weapons and ammunition, while four veteran pilots from the previous war against Northfrost were hand-picked to fly the four F-22’s that would escort the transport aircraft. They were given strict orders – Do not attack unless attacked, Do not allow a single bullet touch the Galaxy Lifters, and Do not die. The left the airstrip at 3:45 am, allowing them time to get there, unload the supplies, and return home before sunrise.

Note: I sent AK-47’s because they are quick and cheap to produce and don’t have very much technology but can still get the job done. I used the AMD-65 variant since it doesn’t use wood or other materials like most AK-47’s do. That would be kind of ironic if trees were being chopped down to save the rainforest. :)

OOC: I read up on those DMG planes. Holy crap. I could build a whole air force for that price. Haven't you ever heard "higher cost doesn't equal higher quality"? :p

IC:
"Sir, a recon pilot has reported seeing some distant aircraft about 15 minutes ago. Our log shows that no Northfrost aircraft, besides four recon planes, have taken off within the last hour. According to the pilot, the aircraft were travelling northward at high speeds." Karree reported, holding a paper showing all flight records over the last 12 hours and a typed version of the pilot's testimony. Oreon Gjochov, the Chief of the Portian Air Force, scanned the paper then walked into the radar room. He marched directly to the main radar group - a row of monitors showing thermal, short-wave, and all other forms of radar on the island. The screens showed two aircraft, both marked as Northfrost recon planes and gathering info on the next targets in the environmental sector.
"Are you sure the pilot was correct? The only aircraft over the peninsula are two of our recon planes. A group of planes can't just vanish."
"What if they are stealth aircraft? Remember that the Portians requested foreign aid? What if someone sent them fighters that can't be seen by our radar?" As soon as she said this, Karree knew she shouldn't have. Gjochov turned around and smacked her hard, causing her to nearly fall. He glared at her for a few seconds then finally spoke:
"Are you trying to say my radar systems are inferior to those savages? No Portian will ever outsmart the Northfrost Air Force - especially the branch under my command! If you ever say that Northfrost is even a little inferior than those tree-huggers..." Gjochov raised his arm to backhand her. Karree quickly stepped back to hopefully avoid the blow. Instead, Gjochov gave her a final glare, crumbled up her paper, and tossed it on the ground. He turned and walked back to his office without another word.

Once inside, Gjochov locked the door and quickly picked up the phone. He glanced through the window to make sure no one was listening then dialed General Ludwik:
"General, sir. We may have a problem. A recon plane reported seeing a group of enemy aircraft yet there wasn't a single speck on any radar screen. The Portians... they may have stealth aircraft. When they requested foreign aid before the war - I think someone might have answered their plea. I'm just warning you that they may have a powerful army in their country just waiting for the right time to strike."
After talking with the general, Gjochov dialed the four airbases of the peninsula. He ordered all Northfrost fighters to take to the air and scan every ounce of sky. He would find those fools and crush them.

OOC: I wonder where Riverport is? By the way, are you going to update the area map, SI?

IC:
Attack Group Gamma and Delta, each numbering 50,000 men, crossed the remaining two bridges and headed north to aid the other two forces. These two armies were mostly made up of tanks and vehicles, allowing them to move quickly to catch up with the other two. Northfrost T-55s smashed through the Portian wilderness, blasting away at anything that even appeared to be a building or enemy. UH-1s zoomed overhead, blasting away at hiding enemies or fleeing civilians ahead. Together, they were prepared to smash all resistance and scare the Portians so bad they wouldn't even try to fight back.

Attack Group Epsilon and Zeta, these two only having 25,000 soldiers each, were chosen for the amphibious assaults. Attack Group Epsilon would attack from the west coast and move inwards to meet Attack Group Zeta, who would be attacking from the east coast. Once they met up, they would head north to take out the northern mountains.

Northwest Environmental Area

As the transport planes flew over the mountains, the Portian soldiers set off old flares to signal their location. Now that aid had arrived, they could actually fight back against Northfrost. The jets were forced to land about three miles away at a port, as it was the only location with a smooth, paved surface for miles. Before they could land, two storage buildings had to be demolished and cleared so the plane's wings wouldn't hit them. Civilians came out to help unload as well, already having heard stories of the devastation heading their way.

The Coasts

Although small evacuations of the coasts had already begun, the amphibious assaults quickly threw the remaining villages into panic. As they fled inland, they ran into other civilians fleeing north, causing mass confusion. The three groups quickly realized that the enemy was moving in from all sides and that their only option was to get as far north as possible.

Central Environmental Area

The sudden advance of Northfrost forces had completely caught the people off guard. Their evacuation north wasn't going well, as the lack of good roads and enough boats had slowed them greatly. They became extremely fearful that the invaders would catch up to them, causing many young men to begin setting traps. As they walked, they would sharpen stakes or gather brush. When they were ready, they would set up quick, hidden traps to hopefully slow the enemy down. Some even went as far as to dig small holes and plant the stakes in them then cover them up with brush. However, those who took too long to make their traps often found out just how close the enemy was. Little did they know that a giant pincer movement was being executed that would stop the refugees dead in their tracks.

OOC1: Sorry I've been gone, guys. I should be able to focus on the war now.

OOC2: If Riverport is suppose to be getting its independence, why am I getting slaughtered so quickly? Shouldn't I be winning? Or at least doing better than this?

OOC: I’ll get the map up soon. I have a couple questions first:
1. How big is the peninsula? Are we talking Korea-sized or Italy-sized?
2. So there are mountains at the top of the peninsula, through the middle, and at the bottom with jungle in between in the north and cities and plains in between in the south, correct?
3. How big is the landmass that the peninsula is attached to? Also, what type of terrain is it?

IC:

The C-57’s had dropped off their loads and were on their way back home within an hour. The pilots were under strict orders not to step foot on the ground, leaving them trapped in the cockpit. They also communicated only when necessary with the Portians to prevent any unneeded information to be revealed. While the transports were being unloaded, the fighters continued to circle overhead to guard the aircraft. Once finished unloading, the Galaxy Lifters vanished as quickly as they had appeared, escorted by their tireless defenders.

An Industrian Carrier Battle Group began closing in on the peninsula’s southern coast. They were under orders to test Northfrost’s patience and reaction time. Like the F-22’s escorting the transport jets, the fleet was under orders not to engage the Northfrost military unless fired upon.

Carrier Battle Group Composition:
1 Empire Class Carrier
1 Admiral Class Carrier
1 Valkyrie Class Helicopter Assault Carrier
1 Lord Class Battleship
1 Orca Class Battleship
2 Hunter Class Submarines

Riverport - Sorry Riverport. I didn't mean to slaughter you like this. It's just that SI and I have a score to settle. You'll get your independence right after I kick his ass off this peninsula.

Silver - 1. I've been picturing a stubby peninsula like Korea. Since Riverport's going to live here, I guess it's his choice.
2. The southern sector has mountains at the river and in the south. All jungles/forests/everything else have been cleared out. The cities are all in the center or right side of the peninsula (so they can reach my home island).
3. The land north of the peninsula is mine. The bottom is mostly mountains then there's just a giant desert above those. I haven't decided what is above or next to the desert. I do have military bases in the desert to help keep the area under my control so don't get any ideas.

Once out of the mountains, the T-55s sped towards Riverport City, blasting away at anyone they saw on their way. The helicopters circled overhead, their machine gunners unleashing their fury on any suspected life forms below. The army of infantrymen that followed this spearhead were starting to fall behind, but were able to search through any buildings and caves they saw to make sure no Portians were hiding away. They split up through the jungle in small groups to flush out any enemies that were trying to hide like cowards. Artillery came last but did the most damage - they demolished anything that even resembled a building or cave and finished off anyone the previous forces had missed.

General Ludwik was pissed. As soon as he had heard that Industrian ships were in the area, he radioed headquarters to find out when the hell the reinforcements would be here. Luckily, they only had to wait one more day and then the wrath of Northfrost would remove these pests from the area. SU-27s were already being sent to keep a close eye on the enemy fleet. If they spotted anymore Industrian transports heading towards Riverport, they would shoot without warning.

OOC: Uh, didn’t you say it would be 15 days until your reinforcements arrive at the beginning of this war? Only like one or two days have passed. Second of all, how would you give orders for your men to attack if they saw any more transports? They didn’t even see the others, you just speculated. And Riverport, don’t worry. I’ll get you your independence quick. And I’m talking about the entire peninsula. :D

IC:
As soon as the first Northfrost fighters were spotted, the entire fleet prepared for combat. Over 100 SI aircraft took to the skies, flying dangerously close to the SU-27’s but not actually attacking. All ships immediately activated their anti-air systems and were prepared to shoot down every foreign jet in the sky.

On Elaion, all SI forces mobilized. All defense systems were activating and all aircraft took to the skies, carefully patrolling every inch of Industrian air space. Artillery batteries were stationed within range of all of northern Elaion and SI tanks moved less than fifty feet from the Elaion Wall.

On the home island, DEFCON 2 was declared and similar procedures to what had happened on Elaion and off the coast of the Portian Peninsula, but on a much larger scale, were carried out.

The SI Politburo sent an urgent message to Northfrost. Northfrost’s answer would decide whether another war would erupt between the two nations.

“We have been informed that your military aircrafts are currently flying over our fleet south of the Portian Peninsula. You do not own these waters and cannot force us out of them. Your aircrafts are considered a threat to us and their abilities to destroy Industrian property and kill Industrian citizens at a moment’s notice is not taken kindly. Our fleet made no hostile actions against your nation. Do not force us to do so.”

The Ministers of Northfrost were furious at Silver Industria's threats. They had sent their reply within minutes:

To: Silver Industria
You have no right to threaten our nation. Our planes have the same rights as your ships to be in that area. We have made no attacks against your forces and do not plan to. If you do not like our air force flying over your ships, don't place your ships so close to our territory. If we recieve another threat from you, we will remove your forces from the area and remind you of the bombings of our previous engagement.

OOC: Time for a taste of your own medicine, Northfrost.

The SI Politburo read the enemy’s reply carefully then sent a short and simple command to General Thompson – eliminate all Northfrost forces in the area. General Thompson, surprised that Northfrost hadn’t mobilized its troops, felt almost sorry for his vulnerable enemy. Almost.

The Elaion Wall, which divided northern, Northfrost-controlled Elaion from the southern, Industrian-controlled Elaion, had nearly vanished within minutes. Blasts from the Behemoth 2s’ 220mm cannons as well as blasts from artillery demolished the wall and cleared the way for the Industrian blitzkrieg. A massive force of SI tanks stormed north, blasting away as they went, driving straight over anyone that got in their way. A force of 20,000 infantry followed, unleashing hell on anything the tanks had left behind. At the same time, Industrian bombers made short work of the Northfrost air force on Elaion, destroying anything that even resembled a hangar or plane. As soon as they had finished off the air force, they turned their attention to the Northfrost Fleet. The SI Fleet in southern Elaion advanced north quickly, bombarding the enemy ships before they had even left the harbor.

The SI Fleet near the Portian Peninsula did its dirty work. Anti-aircraft guns blasted away, followed by the storm of SI aircraft. At the same time, bombers slipped away from the battle to blast Northfrost forces on the peninsula back to the Stone Age. Hangars, aircraft, command centers, and anything even resembling a communications satellite or wire were potential targets. The precision-guided bombs were equipped with a variety of systems, mostly satellite or GPS guided plus a few heat-seekers (to take out moving vehicles or aircraft) and beam riders (to take out single aircrafts or important buildings that SI satellites fail to identify).

OOC:
Oh, I didn't notice the map. The peninsula's closer to Northfrost than I thought. Reinforcements probably would have only taken a day or less to reach Riverport. It doesn't matter, Riverport has to get his independence anyway. I'll post my movements later today. Should we wait on Riverport to get back (he hasn't posted in a few days).

OOC: I sent a telegram to Riverport. I'm not sure where he is. He'll probably come around. But if he doesn't, I get the whole peninsula. :D

IC:
Enemy missiles and anti-aircraft missiles filled the sky, taking out many SU-27s. Yet the Northfrost aircraft continued to fight, ready to strike revenge on these capitalist pigs. Yet the fight didn't last long, as General Ludwik's voice boomed on every pilot's radio:
"I'm ordering a full aerial retreat back to the peninsula. We will regroup there for our counterattack."
With that, the Northfrost planes headed home, pushing their engines to the max.

On the Elaion Islands, things weren't looking too good. Nearly half of Northfrost forces had been killed or wounded and the blitzkreig had cut the remaining forces in half. However, they had an idea. After the tanks had passed but before the Industrian troops had arrived, the Northfrost soldiers moved in, splitting the Industrian force in half. Now surrounded in enemy territory, the tanks had no where to run as Northfrost forces closed in with their grenade launchers and anti-tank rockets.

The Elaion Fleet quickly realized their situation. However, they made the best of the situation and used the harbor for defense. The battleships' giant guns unloaded their explosive shells on the approaching fleet while sailors onboard began firing machine guns and rifles to take out enemy sailors on the top deck.

Despite the attacks in the south, the Northfrost invasion force continued to push north. Riverport City was quickly overrun and set on fire. The armies didn't waste too much time and were quickly back on their journey north. Attack Groups Epsilon and Zeta completed their task, trapping in the retreating Portians. They ordered the civilians to surrender immediately and swear loyalty to the empire. Those that refused were shot one-by-one. Meanwhile, the helicopters continued north to the mountain villages to destroy any resistance there. Armed with two mounted machine guns each, the UH-1s could take out entire villages in minutes.

Last but not least, the Portian Fleet moved in for the double attack on the Industrian Fleet with their heavy guns blazing.

OOC: Yoo-hoo, Riverport? Where are you?
