Rebellion in Mer des Ennuis!

Mer des Ennuis
24-05-2006, 21:37
The government of Mer des Ennuis can best be described as a nationalistic constitutional dictatorship. The people were free to elect local and national representatives who would run the country, though Carpathia Ziemowit, the Arch Arsonist, held ultimate power over the land. If the legislature was unable to deal with a problem as quickly as needed, the Arch Arsonist could declare it law with no opposition. Because of the threat of war with greater powers, Carpathia decreed that all members of the nation between the ages of 16 and 50 would be forced into a Civil Defense Force.

This act lead to the government equipping nearly 350,000,000 citizens with M16-A4 rifles with 5 clips of ammunition. Because the citizens were bar coded and forced to carry national ID cards holding biometric data, criminals, for the most part, were not given weapons. After about 5 years of controlled chaos, crime rates declined and there was peace in the nation. However, not all the citizens held loyalty to the Arch Arsonist.

Since the creation of the defense force, a large group of radicals who managed to live under the radar screen moved to the costal Ville des Lumières, a small city of 3 million. They had armed themselves with the government issued rifles, and had trained. While most people in the Armed Republic, which was no longer just a symbolic title, were satisfied with the government, these radicals did not feel that the benevolence of the Arch Arsonist was enough; they wanted true direct-democracy. They gathered in La Plaza du Tombé, a square dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the Republic who died defending the land, sea, and air of many nations. They demanded reforms, but, being a relatively small group, the government did not respond, or did not hear them. None the less, after 2 days of general protest, rioting broke out, and automatic weapon fire was exchanged between protestors and police forces.

On the 3rd day, SWAT teams were dispatched to the square, and attempted to break up the crowd, many of which responded by shooting the officers. The officers responded in kind by brining in an aged Ontos anti-air vehicle flanked by heavy utility trucks. The armored vehicle fired into the crowd that had now grown to nearly 50,000 and killed 100. The crowd dispersed, though petrol bombs were hurled at the convoy. Realzing that the crowd was just getting worse, they withdrew. It was not until the next day that the worst thing happened. While on patrol in another section of the city, five offiers responded to a shooter. Three school children were killed along with the assailent. The city errupted into open rebellion, siezing the small arsenal and governer’s mansion.

The Mer des Ennusian High Command is now in the process of responding: The 4th Army Group of 1,900,000 men has been mobilized with the 3rd providing logsitical support. The 5th Armored Army group has fully been attached to the 4th. Within a week, the city will be surrounded. The Arch Arsonist has already given the order, the rebellion will be met with death.

After 4 days of anarchy, the advanced mechanized forces consisting of the 13th Army and the 271st and 272nd infantry divisions, totaling some 522,500 men arrived in 57,630 warrior IFVs in various configurations and 23,750 uparmored M998 HMMWVs in various configurations. They set up command posts along the plains outside of the city. Finally, 3 divisions of dedicated Aerial Calvary totaling 8,010 AH-64 Apache Longbows provided air support. Doctrine dictated that, by now, anyone wanting to leave the city peacefully would have left by now, and the city would be softened. Therefore, all rail routes were shut down and roadblocks were set up on all major highways entering the Ville des Lumières, and would be for a week. They would hold position untill the rest of the vehicles; 28,840 Merkava 4 main battle tanks, 20,600 M777A1 light artillery pieces, 15,450 HIMARS light missile artillery, 16,480 MLRS heavy missile artillery, and 16,480 AS-90 Braveheart self propelled artillery, arrived. After a week, the city would be leveled by combined artillery fire and napalm runs. 10 AC-130u gunships would strafe the city to help thin militants during this process. Only after the destruction of the city would troops enter on search and destroy missions. There would be no survivors.

Armed Republic of Mer des Ennuis

Fellow citizens, the city of Ville des Lumières is in a state of open revolt. The perpetrators have chosen to seccede from our republic in a most vile manner. While we, as a republic, are open to new ideas, we cannot tolerate any type of violent dissent! This magnificent city used to hold 3 million upstanding citizens, but military intelligence puts the number at approximatly 500,000 rebels. Aerial photographs show they have set up machinegun nests throughout the city and have corrupted La Plaza du Tombé. This cannot be tolerated on our Fair Republic. I have decreed that anyone in the city now is resisting our just rule, and is now a traitor to this country. As with any hostile force invading our land, they will be delt swift death, and will be given no quarter. We will burn them with a fury of a thousand suns!

On the 7th day, nearly 450,000 citizens had laid down their arms and fled the city. Anyone whose firearm had not been discharged within the last three weeks was allowed to remain armed and sent to neighboring regions. Still, despite strafing runs from the ACU-130s, there was a sizeable rebel contigent within the city. At dawn the next day, the city would be shelled and the armored divisions would move in to clean the city.

As more information pooled in from the anti-democratic situation in Mer des Ennuis, worry and sympathy began to set into the hearts of many residents living in the The Free Consensual Association of Mef.

Since its founding as a republic, Mef eventually grew more and more libertarian in regards to social and political freedom. At the current moment, government control has completely decentralized into a near-implausibly vast network of autonomous communities held together by a commitment to the ideals of freedom and democracy. Because of such open society, Mef's denizens are charactistically pro-democratic and pro-ridiculous-amounts-civil-rights while sticking to a vehemently anti-rascist, anti-sexist, and anti-fascist mindset.

And in accordance to that characteristic, a majority of the autonomous communities issued statements for solidarity of with the radicals in the Mer des Ennuis. All over the region, many of the communities held rallies, most notable was the one in Demopolis, the former capital city of the Republic of Mef. Nearly three million Mefians stopped everything and flocked to the area. Signs with slogans such as "Ziemowit is a monster!" and "Free des Lumières!" were scattered about in a giant tide of ralliers.

Francine Jannowitz, a fiery orator traveling the region to speak at rallies, had this to say about the situation, "...Mer des Ennuis has taken a most disgusting position on the rights of dissenters. What kind of country can hold itself together by force and feel no remorse? Sure, this injustice may occur in an area far beyond the reach of our communities. One may argue that no matter how terrible the situation becomes, we have no right to get involved. However, we must send a message to those fascist bullies! I say that we extend an offer of real support, not just solidarity to the Mer des Ennuis rebellion. If they do ask for help, then direct action on our part will be ethically justified..."

Through an impromptu session of the inter-community council, a message for the international community was soon issued.

"A strong majority in the Free Consensual Association of Mef declares that this week will be known as the International Solidarity for the Mer des Ennuis Insurgency. All countries or even individuals in support of the rebels are encouraged to convene with representatives of Mef to discuss a course of action."

OOC: Just want to throw this out there: The city has been cut off. Cellphone towers have been taken out, landlines have been cut, power has long sense been cut, as have most essential services. Railways and roadways in and out have been commandeered by the military to ship armor and supplies. Unless they have a satelite my country's military is not aware of, they have literally no way to reach the outside world to ask for help, and now have 1,900,000 combat ready men and, at least, 50 miles between them and the nearest major port. That and just about any attempt to land men would meet with armed civilian (which now has 14416 decommissioned ZSU-23-4 Shika's under civilian leadership control) and military resistance.

Kraven Orbital Sattelite Array, Over Sector Sigma G - 7 - 9

Click, followed by a whirr of servos followed by another click and more servos, it was an Orbital sattelite array, it was the eyes in the skies for Kraven and the supreme state, watching gently without a care in the world, like a gentle floating giant, working for a far more ominous evil, a nation with a dark soul and a blackened heart..

----- Explosions Detected, Gunfire spotted in Urban areas -----

----- Relaying Co-ordinates and Photographs to The High Command -----

Several Hours later, Kraven High Command, The Imperial Palace, The City of Norska

The Imperial palace was an immense structure crafted from Obsidian black stone, it was an oppressive monument to Kraven and from anywhere in the continent of Arterus it could be seen, it stretched to four Kilometers high and its smaller secondary Spires were two kilometers high, it contained many offices and departments of the Kraven military, government and other such things as well as the dreaded Kraven Secret Police, the ones that ensured Kravens will was followed to the letter...

A young officer, wearing a Dark Navy blue uniform of the Supreme States Intelligence wing of The Secret Police entered the office of an Obersturmbann Furhrer, the Officer looked up as the younger Captain crisply saluted, while at the same time clicking his heels together to give a distinct sound...

"Yes Captain?"

"Obersturmbann Furhrer, I belive you should see these pictures"

"Oh yes?" Korreg, the name of the Sturmbann furhrer, as he looked inquisitively at the pictures that displayed explosions and what appeared to be sporradic gun fire

"The nation looks to be in anarchy..."

"I can see that"

"I brought it to your attention, it might be the perfect opportunity to send in a Centurian strike force and take the nation while its government are preoccupied with this apparant rebellion...."

"How can you be sure its a rebellion... Captain?"

"There don't appear to be any fleets off the coast line, or at least, no fleets we have detected.."

"hmmm, What about resources?"

"We are moving the Geological sattelite array over the area to give us a better view of what will be available to us after Subjugation and the Unification afterwards..."

"Very well Captain keep me informed.."

"As you wish Obersturmbann Furhrer.."

The Captain gave another clean and crisp salute before turning and leaving the room, The Sturmbann Furhrer looked over the pictures once again, rubbing a hand across his chin and thinking deeply about the gunfire, he could almost hear its rattle and chatter...

Allied Military Base of Leocardia, in Mer des Ennuis

"Shit. Kraven's stormin' a attack here." Supreme Commander of the Leocardian 21st Army Division said to the men while they were exercising on the rigid terrain.

"What should we do? Pack up and get out of this hellhouse?" One of the soldiers asked.

"No." The voice went echoed. "We cannot do this to our ally. We're committed and dedicated to our ally. We are Leocardian Ally Defenders. We stay, even if mainland doesn't send any more aid. I'm pretty sure mainland has heard of the message."

"Whatever... I hope Witnessian forces come though, we conquered them last year."

"I doubt that. Witnessian forces are there for their own defense, or when Leocardia is being invaded. But it's still possible. Lets just wait for Mer des Ennuis' orders for us."

We ask for you to negociate before committing this offensive. We do not want terrorizing moments in the MdE, especially during their times in need. Please, we can negociate. We will offer any kind of aid on another country instead of our ally. Please reply.

OOC: Just some quick commentary; I'm going to post the actual re-taking of the city later tonight, along with some information about random attrocities commited in the name of The Republic. Just to clarify: I have the general support of my nation as a whole, just not in this city, for now. This city will be firebombed in sections, and will have armored columns move through on mop-up operations.

OOC: Rhetoric is rhetoric, right? You see where I'm going with this...? I'll post my next thing in a bit. I want to see how the Kraven stuff fits in first.

A grand collation of do-gooder nations ala Red Tide? And to be reasonable, we can presume that Kraven is using a low-angle of view satelite, since it would not necessarily be directly over my airspace without me knowing about it, and has not made a public announcement of landing forces on my shores.

Currently my coasts have 15 full-strength CBNs and 15 Light Carrier/Amphibious Assault strike groups not committed to foreign forces (5 AASGs are), and I have reasonably good satelite coverage of my country. I also specifically armed my citizenry with military-grade rifles in the event of a Kraven invasion (think I did this about 3 or 4 weeks ago, and went along with the issue of just about everyone and their brother being armed). So yea, if and when he invades, I will be able to offer at least moderate resistance before trained troops can even show up.

~Message broadcast to Mer des Ennuis over an open frequency~

As a fellow member of the MNDP, we have an obligation to ensure your state's safety in times of conflict. As such, we feel this rebellion could seriously impair your ability to hold your own borders from foreign aggression. Therefore, West Corinthia officially requests a temporary military base within Mer des Ennuis for the duration of the rebellion. With a West Corinthian military presence in the country, we are sure other countries would think twice before taking advantage of the situation for their own personal gain.

Re: Temporary Base

I have spoken with my advisors, you have been given permission to use a decomissioned base on the island directly north of Ville des Lumières and directly south of Ville de Dèplorent. The base and surrounding facilities can comfortably hold a full division (23,000 men) of infantry and land up to a C17 globemaster. There are dock facilities for receiving a DDG-106 class destroyer. However, the facilities were decomissioned after being struck by a hurricane, and will need to be repaired. We thank you for your aid in our time of need, though we do not expect to need it for long.

At this time, we do not feel threatend by any outside powers, since we have not received any overt threats. However, you have been granted permission by Mer des Ennuis Air Command to deploy two satelites over our airspace. Ianus Petrovich was in his office. He faced a mirror and began straightening the medals on his military uniform. He stopped before reaching the last one, this was the Order of the Czar, the highest medal given in the West Corinthian army. It had been awarded to him for bravery during East Corinthian War. Ianus sighed, and sat back down at his desk. He began working on some papers when something outside the window distracted him. Pushing it out of his mind, he continued working. "What kind of life is this?" he finally wondered aloud. He truly missed the thrill of battle, a desk job was not for him.

Another man burst into his office without knocking. Ianus recognized him immediately.

"Ianus Petrovich." the man said almost mockingly. "Still stuck with this crappy desk job?"

"For the good of the Czar." Ianus replied, rolling his eyes.

"Well, if you like it so much, I'm sure I can find someone else to go to Mer des Ennuis and set up the military base there." the man started whistling decievingly.

"Mer des Ennuis? With the rebellion?"

"Just come with me, I'll explain on the way."

Ianus followed the man out the door and into the parking lot, where a convoy of armored humvees with machine-guns awaited them. He could hardly believe what was going on, a second chance!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Covered by WC-Hind attack helicopters, Blackhawk helicopters began unloading the first troops and engineers at the military base. Looking around, the soldiers could see several barracks-like buildings with their roofs blown off, a low perimiter wall with several watch towers, and a dusty path of a landing strip. "This could use some fixing up." the lead engineer laughed. No one else laughed.
The soldiers, all light infantry armed with Hali-42 assault rifles, quickly set up a perimeter around the base and cleared out the buildings. A homeless man was found in one barracks. He was turned over to Mer des Ennuisian authorities shortly after his discovery.
OOC: Just a quick bit of information about why these resources are important to my country. Oil is obvious: it makes most synthetic materials, is vital to prosecuting almost any war, and is vital for commerce. Uranium is useful for power generation, munitions manufacturing, and power for air craft carriers. It also has a high resale valuje. Gold, other than its value, is vital for electronics, space exploration, and jet engines. Silver, other than value, is used to make explosives, industrial processes, and electrical contacts. Manganese is vital for steelmaking, as is iron. Titanium is used to make penetrator caps for missiles and submarines. Molybdenum is suprisingly important for making high-strength, corrosin and heat resistant steel, and various missile and aircraft parts. Cobalt is also heavily used to make strong steel alloys. Thought this might be useful to someone (i.e. my armor might be slightly stronger than expected, might make repairs on facilities easier, make missiles pack a bit more punch, etc.)
Leocardia, you aren't leaving my nation, I am just re-positioning your troops to Le Vide (The Void), directly west of the Villes des Spiritueux (City of Ghosts) to train with the 23rd infantry division of the 1st Army group. The restricted islands are just home to naval bases and training facilities for new recruits, akin to Quantico. This reassignment will put you in a position to respond to any rebellion faster than I potentially could in the eastern region.
Re: Island Base
We have decided to make this homeless man available for you, since we suspect he has better knowledge of the current condition of the facilities on the island than we ourselves are, and rehabilitate him afterwards. As of now, we are preparing to raconteur the important parts of the city, and will be leveling the rest. We are going to soften key parts of the city before sending in armored forces for live-fire training. We originally planned to destroy the entire city, though we now realize this is not the most economically feasible. We would like to, at your discretion, give you the North West quadrant of the city to practice on before we commence total demolitions. The North West, being the oldest part of the city, along with the city center and the south west, will be firebombed into oblivion.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
At 7:14 AM, local time, the barrages occurred. From firing locations outside of the city, MLRS and HIMARS batteries launched missiles. Targets were selected by repeated scans from the exodus military satellite that was positioned over the city. Machine gun nests and major road blocks were targeted by the grenade-like munitions of the HIMARS, while the MLRS launched a combination of solid-warhead missiles and high-grade bomblets. The sky was littered with innumerable contrails, and the targets looked as if they were smote by the hand of a vengeful God. The tallest building in the city, 128 Ennusian Avenue, was hit 15 times by solid-warhead missiles, and suffered a partial collapse. Roads collapsed along aged subway lines, previously unknown stores of volatile chemicals erupted into multicolored frames. A gas main under a weakened section of road caused an entire city block to erupt. The eastern sections, deemed more critical, were hit by much less damaging M777A1 artillery; the AS-90 Bravehearts were not required and sent back to their respective bases. The barrage took a full hour to launch at all of their targets, and killed an estimated 40,000 militants, leaving between 10,000 and 15,000 alive in the city.
At noon, 5 divisions of Warrior IFVs, broken down to the platoon level, moved 118,750 men into the eastern sections of the city while apache helicopters and AC-130u gunships annihilated the slightest bit of movement. Logistics would be carried out by fast moving CH-47s. Militant gunfire was sparse at best, as most had been killed by artillery fire. Although they carried men, none were deployed to kill militants. There were 9,346 confirmed kills in those sections of the city. Several warriors took light damage from IEDs, and 15 were lost to collapsing streets. The mission was a resounding success. Frontline videos were dispatched to news outlets showing the depravity of the rebels. While the propaganda role was rabidly successful, many of the former residents of Ville des Lumières had now spread into Ville de Bruit, Ville d’Espoir, and Ville de Déplorent.
While many did support the Arch Arsonist’s decision, others did not.
Armed Republic of Mer des Ennuis
My fellow countrymen and women! I am pleased to announce that the vile rebellion in Ville des Lumières has been struck down! To those who have left the city on good terms, you have my best wishes in reconstructing your city. The governor of the southwest has promised that the city will be ready for reconstruction within a year of commencement of military action. Mer des Ennuis Applied Construction Co. has already promised to rebuild the city at an extremely low cost, and we will be offering a 2% tax incentive to any and all business and land lords that choose to invest in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of this city. However, I must end on a note of warning. Disobedience, especially armed disobedience and insurrection, is treason and will not be tolerated, and will be met with cold death.
Norskan City, Command Headquaters
The Obersturmbannfurhrer closed the booklet, and looked at the Captain, the room was darkly lit, poor in the Norskan night time, but it was clear that a long, red banner was hung against the wall, and the Twin Hammers of Kraven were clearly visible....
"You've done well Captain, such an opportunity for resource harvesting has never produced itself so perfectly, you will oversee the Operation of this Captain, assemble your forces, you deploy in six hours...."
"I thankyou, Obersturmbann Furhrer"
there was a sharp click of the heels then a crisp salute before the Captain turned and left the office...
The Sturmbann Furhrer looked down at the dossier one more time, then thinking to himself, muzed at the prospect...
"We send in some Harvester Pat - 9's we can have the area stripped mined in a few weeks, the War Machine will be back up to full strength and then nothing shall oppose the Norskan Battalions..." the Sturmbann Furhrer smiled gently to himself, he was sure that if this operation was sucsessful, he'd be in for a promotion for sure...
This is mostly directed towards Kraven. Perhaps there should be an OOC thread? And hailandkill, I believe we do have a mutual defence pact. That being said, I did purpousfly establish a large civil defence force to combat an invasion from Kraven about a month and a half ago, and I have no intention of lightly handing the reigns of government over. That being said, I won't just shoot an ignore cannon at this one. I'll post in IC later. What exactly do you plan to use to invade me? Whats a centurian strike force?
Ianus Petrovich woke at sunrise to watch the West Corinthian flag be raised. Today was an important day. The base was now listed as "operational" rather than "under renovation." More importantly, the airfield was finished. C-17s were landing and departing rapidly, deploying troops, armor, and supplies to the base.
Already two divisions of Hoplites were on the ground. Light infantry mostly, with a few units of the heavier troops mixed in. The new WC-Czar MBTs were rolling off the C-17s fresh off the production line. This was the first time they had been deployed on foreign soil. Basic air defense systems were in place, along with mobile artillery and some missile emplacements. The Czar was always inclined to defend himself more than others would deem necessary.
Also, a flotilla of destroyers and missile frigates numbering around 30 was anchored in international waters away from Mer des Ennuis. They requested entry to Mer des Ennuisian waters via open radio channel.
"Commandant Petrovich." a Hoplite officer approached Ianus with an official-looking note. "Orders from the Czar."
Ianus read over the message briefly:
Message to Commandant Ianus Petrovich
For your eyes only
You are not to engage in the civil war. We feel the military of Mer des Ennuis has the situation firmly under control and does not require our assistance. Having said that, the base is to remain under your control until they ask us to leave. Negotiate as you will with their government to keep the base as long as we can. This is not over.
Signed,
Office of Czar Vasili Kotov
Ianus crumpled up the message and threw it to the ground. Then, remembering the confidentiality of the note, decided to pick it up again and pocket it. He sighed loudly. "Screwed again."
"Sir?" the Hoplite asked.
"Nothing, Hoplite. I just wanted a fight."
"Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it." the Hoplite saluted, then unslinged his Hali-42 from his shoulder and resumed patrol.
Ianus nodded to himself and went back into the Command Center to get a cup of coffee.
OOC: Hailandkill, 1) how are the battleship designs? And 2) You could always just sit on the back burner and play it by ear.
It had been 3 days since Ville des Lumières had been taken. Bulldozers were already demolishing crippled structures, corpses were hauled away, and reconstructing and demolition were in full swing. None the less, some of the survivors were discontent with the government. Against perdictions, Ville d’Espoir was not a hotbed for militant activity, though the situation in Ville de Bruit and Ville de Déplorent had rapidly deteriorated. While most protests were peaceful and the local administrators listened with open ears, some were militants from Ville des Lumières that managed to slip through the radar.
In Ville de Bruit, police convoys came under small arms fire, constables were turning up dead or critically wounded, and small rallies for democracy were turning into large scale riots. The police responded as best they could to break them up, and usually did, but were unable to stop the rallys from forming in the first place. On the 3rd day after reconstruction started along the coast, a police station was hit by a crude explosive. Martial law was declared. The 3rd and the 4th army groups were put in reserve, while the 2nd and 1st were mobilized. Despite civic troubles, Mer des Ennuis was undergoing an economic boom, and could afford to mobilize quickly for war. The 1st corps was attached to 33rd armored 39th airborne army, composed of Warrior IFVs, UH-60 blackhawks, and CH-47 Chinnoks, and was immediately dispatched to Ville de Bruit.
Ville de Déplorent had not yet turned hot. Hoping to prevent the same from happening, propaganda was increased, riots were condemned by respected civic leaders, and police activity was greatly increased. The city, although calm now, was ready to explode.
The Arch Arsonist, Carpathia Ziemowit, paced around his office with several of his top military advisors. A map of Mer des Ennuis was displayed on the wall, showing every instance of an officer KIA or a large-scale protest in white. Ville d’Espoir was bright white.
“Gentlemen, we have a major situation here. We have the south up in arms, and our men are becoming weary of fighting their countrymen!” yelled the Arsonist
“Sir, we believe we can suppress the rebellion in d’Espoir quickly. My generals tell me that the situation is not as bad as Ville des Lumières was, and the police are reporting that raids are showing decreases in weapons caches. Basically, it is getting better, and the recent deployment has loyalists rejoicing and protesters worrying.” Reported the current head of the Mer des Ennusian Army Command.
“Right, still, the fact that we have half of our men on leave during a potential civil war has me worried that a larger power may try and seize some of our land. We have made international headlines recently due to our economic prosperity. Have we received any threats?”
“Negative, sir.”
“I will not have my lands attacked by a foreign power. Recall the fleets. Put them on alert and on patrol. I want AWACS flights covering our lands at all hours of the day. Can we reposition our satellites into a defensive configuration today?”
“No sir, the satellites will take at least 2 days to get 100% coverage. Right now we are at about 50. The rest I will take care of after we finish talking.”
“Good, see that it is done.”
The aides left, leaving the Arch Arsonist alone with his thoughts. He stood up, and looked out the 24 inch bulletproofed glass out into the center of the beautiful Mer de noms.
The five amphibious assault groups were recalled from Cruxium waters. Supply ships were called into harbors to prepare to move vital supplies anywhere around the country. All 30 fleets that were available were placed at critical water ways and sorties were increased. Sonobouys were deployed at sea to the critical approaches. E-3 Sentries provided 70% radar coverage along the coast lines while additional holes were plugged by either satellites or E2-C Hawkeyes. Installations that dotted the terrain of Mer des Ennuis were put on Defcon 2, one order away from red alert.
Re: Ville d’Espoir
The situation in Ville de Bruit has deteriorated, and we are worried that Ville d’Espoir will turn south as well. I am pleased to hear that the base is fully active, and it is in our best interest that, in this time of crisis, to keep you here for the immediate future. While we believe that Ville de Bruit is under control and will be pacified fully in earnest, we would like to deploy a limited number of your men to reinforce police garrisons in Ville d’Espoir. Please let me know how many you would be willing to deploy. We appreciate your help
Re: Movement Order
My men bring amicable reports about the training situation with the battalion of light infantry you have sent to us. However, the 23rd infantry division has been mobilized to put down potential rebel activities. As such, we are going to ask you to move your battalion from Le Vide to Porte de Bouclier. The 274th is currently undergoing routine training in amphibious assault and urban operations, and we feel that your battalion will be most useful honing these skills and in this location. Porte de Bouclier sits on one of the most important waterways in our country, and is an ideal location for fast deployment by boat or by air. Please let us know if this movement request suits you.
To Carpathia Ziemowit,
We would be more than willing to help reinforce your police in Ville d'Espoir. Depending on how much support you require, we could deploy up to 1,000 Light Hoplites and around 50 Myrmidon Special Forces troops to aid you. Please let us know when and where to deploy. Also, if you require us to deploy any armor or air units, just ask. You know where to reach me.
We thank you for your show of support. Please deploy those troops to Ville d'Espoir as soon as possilbe. You may send any armor and aerial units you need to properly support your men. Local officials tell us a show of force, even by an ally, will be enough to quell discontents.
The City of Norska, Northern Arterus
Kraven was making its move, the strike force was ready, numbering over 600,000 Centurians and mobile armoured support in the form of Emperors, Imperators and Leman Russ Main Battle tanks, the Kraven force began to embark onto vast ships of the Navy, each Kraven vessel, be it a combat ship or a transport vessel had suitable holds to carry ground personel, effectively turning every ship into Combat transport vessels.
Reichmarshals, and other Kraven military officers oversaw the operation, as each trooper quickly and efficiently marched onto these huge vessels, as each one swung a perfectly timed arm or stepped in perfect unision, the sound of marching feet echoed through out the docks of the city as one by one, transports that had been prepared only hours ago, broke free from the docks to join the rest of the battlefleet that was off shore, awaiting the rest of the fleet...
The Grand Admiral of the fleet was stood with his arms held behind his back, his cold gaze was cast out to see and every one of his officers and crew were preparing to break for open waters, they had charts prepared, while Commanders looked over fire support plans as well as other variations in the eventual fire works that would come once the kraven fleet bore down upon Mer Des Ennuis....
The Flag ship was "The Eviscerator" it was a huge Subjugator Class Superdreadnaught, an experimental prototype to succeed the Annihilator, the pride of the Kraven navy, its weaponry outmatched the Annihilator in every department and its overall combat performance would outclass any vessel in the current Kraven navy, its development had been in the works for many years since the first fall of Kraven, something that had shown the shortfalls in Kraven fleet technology and so, the Kraven Naval Commanders began to prepare a new ship of the line... The Subjugator Class...
0300 Hours
"Mr. President," National Security Advisor Frank Lee said as President Sanchez sat at his desk, listening, "The Bonstocknian Special Services have picked up serious intel. Kraven has begun mobilizing troops in their nation to invade our ally, Mer des Ennius."
"What source do you have?" the President responded.
"The BSS has interpreted Kraven's scouting of Mer des Ennius' rescources and their build-up of a fleet to mean something, sir."
"Frank, can this be comfirmed?"
"Mr. President, I recommend we send out a single RC-135 Rivet Joint signals recon plane to intercept Kraven communications. Meanwhile, it would be best to assemble a naval fleet to intercept Kraven forces should they invade our allies."
"Do you know what forces Kraven has assembled?"
"They have at least one new and large superdreadnought, class as yet unknown, but it's big. It will take at least a few of our new Mk.89 torpedoes to kill."
"We should do whatever it takes to destroy that superdread. Perhaps that blow would convince them to call off the invasion. We'll need a big fleet though."
"Sir, assembling the necessary ships will take at least a few weeks."
"Inform the Secretary of Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff to commence preperations immidiately."
"Yes, sir."
In the skies off the coast of Kraven
A Bonstocknian RC-135 took off from an airbase in Southern Bonstock, and headed for Kraven. It flew right outside Kraven territorial waters, and tied to pick up communications from Kraven command and control complexes, trying especially to figure out Kraven's intentions. Meanwhile, at the offshore naval base of Tanoli Island, a vast fleet began assembling, with new ships arriving every day, but it would not be ready to sail for a month.
Carpathia Ziemowit was pleased. Reconstruction in Ville des Lumières was preceding nicely, and some citizens had started to move back into the least damaged structures. The mayor of the city had promised that the city would be mostly back on its feet by this time next year, and totally reconstructed finished within 2. Ville d’Espoir was almost completely normal. The introduction of a hefty garrison of West Corinthian troops made all the difference: protests stopped and patriotic Ennusian citizens were happy. Ville de Bruit was pacified as well. Police officers did their job under the watchful eye of Blackhawks and their gunners; protesters dispersed when a column of ZSU-23-4 Shilkas rolled into their protest routes. In addition, just about every officer was followed by a fully armed fireteam of soldiers. As much as anyone could tell, the riots that had plagued the south were over.
The situation was perfect political hay. In the capital, Mer de Noms, 5 of the protesters were executed for sabotage. Though no intelligence services had reported anything above the unusual, the Arch Arsonist’s paranoia was still in full swing: there were enemies within and enemies abroad. It was with this reason that he listened to the navy and authorized a large ring of permanent sonobouys around the territorial waters of Mer des Ennuis, which was completed in earnest. No ship would get near the nation without tripping the invisible barrier. The aegis of the land was further strengthened by the end of a nearly year-long production run of 4 divisions of SA-400 Triumpf ultra-long range anti-missile and anti-air SAMs. Now the only thing to worry about were the people living inside his borders.
The Kravan invasion would be predicted to be a big one, as what President Batista, of Leocardia, said. Serval stragetic plans were made by the International Minister of Defence, the man who is in charge of the Leocardian Forces in Leocardia's ally to aid them in any conflict. The forces in MdE was insufficient and it was very complicated to send aid to MdE since Leocardia was so far away. Navy was the first thing to be planned. Emergency Immediate Relief was planned and 3 Leocardian Naval Task Forces are selected that are closest to MdE.
I have finished my military reforms (i.e. now it looks like a professional job rather than a chocked together NS job. Each corps is self-sustaining indefinatly in my country, and, as long as there are supply drops, indefinatly in every country. Divisions are pretty much the same. Basically, alot less of some stuff, a lot more of some other stuff, but its all a whole shitload more effective.) An army group has been cut, and replaced with a combination light/armored national guard army group, acting as garrison forces. Each and every city has 2 national guard divisions acting as a garrison force (and, consequently, training the civilian defence force enthusiasts), except for the capital, which has 6. That leaves me with 24 corps. A corps is defined as 2 Air Assault Divisions, 2 Light Divisions, 2 Armored Divisions, and 4 Mechanized Divisions, and 2 corps make up an army, 4 of which make an army group.
2 Armies are in the Capital, Mer de Noms. The following Cities have 1 army each: Porte de Richesse, Porte de Bouclier, Porte d' Honneur, Le Garde Porte, Ville de Deplorement, La Ville de Argentee, Ville des Ames, La Ville de D'or, Deuxime Enterprise, La Lame De L'Epee. I can give exact numbers on each division, each corps, each army, etc. if needed. I'll also post, once the actual invasion occurs, what is contained within a national guard division. Each national guard division has multi-band improved patriot radars guiding 6 S-400 triumf missile systems. This is considerably less than I origionally intended to use, but helps out all parties involved.
First Kraven Battlefleet Stations, Numonica
Grand Admiral Loren Skitän watched his battlefleet on a high command tower in Southern Numonica, one of the major harbours of the Supreme State's Navy. The eleven hundred ships of the First were either on stationkeeping or in the docks of the Numonican ports, ranging from the newest class of vessel, the Subjugator, to the smallest of the vessels, the Mimir class tracking vessel. Thousands of crewmembers bustled about the ships, performing last-second touchups, repairs, or in some cases generally goofing off as the ships prepared to launch.
Skitän had not recieved his orders yet; All he knew was that he was to get the First prepared for a mission and load up a Centurion Army onto the assault carriers. The few scattered civilians that lived in Numonica, Northern or Southern, would hear the marching jackboots of Kraven Corporation troops very often in their lives, as often as every day for some parts nearer the ports. Thousands upon thousands of tanks, ranging from the Diablo class to the massive Imperator class loaded onto tank carriers, along with the armour, vehicles, and logistics required for such a massive operation.
Kraven Corporation mobilisations were always abnormally fast; This particular mobilisation was completed in twelve hours. Grand Admiral Skitän, now that his first orders were over, entered the Subjugator class battleship, yet to be named officially, and went into his command station to recieve his next orders from the High Command. His computer screen was blinking, showing the familiar green "New Orders Recieved" of the High Command. He pressed the "Read" button, typed in his sixteen digit decryption sequence, and he read the orders twice over quickly.
Deploy your ships to Mer des Ennuis, destroy all resisting ships, land and await further orders.
Skitän groaned. The High Command was infamous for giving incredibly vague orders with no sene of a strategical goal, and he generally had to read in his own goals in between the lines. He summoned his top strategical and tactical advisors, and they sat in their chairs, sinking down for a very long discussion as the ships left..
Twenty-six hours to Mer des Ennuis, and the latest war of the Corporation..
