ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION of the ISLES OF MARA


Article 1: The Unity
The Emperor is Supreme. His Holiness rules us all only as much as we wish him to. He offers us the Middle Way: The Gloriously Bright & Golden Shining Path. He is Divinely Inspired. He is Right in All Disputes, even when he is NOT.

Article 2: The Houses
i. The Confederation is not a Union, nor is it merely an Alliance. It is a Single EMPIRE.
ii. Member States are to be considered as Houses of the Imperium of Man.
iii. Houses may choose to leave at any time.
iv. Houses may be banished if the Empire Council feels that the House has become Rogue.

Article 3: The Houses 2
i. The dominions of the Houses are fiefs of the Empire and are independent entities of the Empire.
ii. Each House is and will remain Sovereign within its own borders. As such, will not interfere directly or indirectly with fellow Confederation members. <The Gaijins can go Hang.>
iii. Disputes between members will be sent to arbitration by the Council.

Article 4: The High Council
i. The High Council is the Highest Appeals and Governing Body second only to the Emperor.
ii. It is composed of the Emperors appointees.
iii. The Councils Decision is binding upon ALL Houses.

Article 5: The Parliment
Each House has One Delegate!
Parliment may Debate...It may Suggest or Condemn...
But it may NOT RULE the Isles.
Each House will make its own decisions.

Article 6: The Honour Clause
When I am weaker than you,
I ask you for freedom
because that is according to your principles;

when I am stronger than you,
I take away your freedom

This will be a new Holy Empire...sorta...a MT version of the Isles Charter. IT doesn't really apply to the FT world. Well not much. Think of it as the Magna Carta. Your Duneverse operates on something different. You are still Free. Think of the Austro-Hungarian empire...which ruled which?

There are three more seats. To be distrubuted...for a total of 11 Speakers. If people decide to stop speaking...er leave the region...then they will lose it. The Emperor can go crazy every now and then...but the inertia should stay the course. I think most will remain Free Seats, rotating.

If the region gets bigger we might have to change this arrangement.

The Kanji symbol for transport flew in through the window. It stopped, and out came a rather confused minister Kiku, followed by an odd man covered in Kanji sympols, scars, and his own dried blood.

The Guard was a bit flumoxed...gaijin cousins always did bather him. Still obviously the translation jammers had been turned off and the seals lifted. How else could the wizard have translated here? He informed the Capitan of the Guard who informed the Minister of Foriegn Devils that some Cousins had finally decided to show up.

IMN was a bit annoyed. They had made him lose count! He had gotten to 53 places of pi. Now he had to start all over again. It was most annoying. Still duties first. He translated to the location of the guard and waved off the Squads. They looked tired. Best get them some rest before killing them with ceremony.

Oh yeah if you choose to accept you can either move to or region Isles of Mara or remain in yours, either way Would you like a Speakership on the High Council? Then you would be considered a Peer and a Great House.

Your demense will remain your own. We don't want to manage them. Imperailism is silly. Why bother invading unless they attack you first. Or the bastards are dishonorable? It is much better to have a devolved government in the Future. That was the weakness and strength of the Republic...it was ineffective but refused to admit it. Then the Tyrant arose and attempted to centralize the Republic into an Empire...the Factions refused fought and won.

It is too difficult to attempt to rule by force of arms. Much better to culturally control a population...and have the arms just in case you had to show strength. We want the samne influence that the CHURCH held in the WEST after the fall of Rome and the western half of the Empire.

you can be considered...as an analogue to the Bazyntines...a much reduced Greater Imperium in this little Reality that we ae constructing. OR you can be on a different Dimension/Reality/alternate universe/Plane with your main Sublime Pashish Empire of Garindi...they will not be bound by this. However, perhaps in this ConFed Imperium plane you and ANYONE ELSE that WANTS TO JOIN are part of the ConFed Imperium.

Your system and style reminds me of the Ixians or of the spacers guild of DUNE. Basically a great interstellar societe...french variation...a multinational MEGA-CORPs. Like Itchia. If you choose to be a Guild you are essentially a House for all intents and purposes. You won't be one but you are!!! I was kinda hoping you would like to join. You and Lotus make for some different types of Orders within the Future Tech Imperium of Man.

And you make for an interesting Ally in the MT and PMT. The Dominion of Me Li and her satelittes consider your help in designing our subsystems of our World Tree extremely Useful. Her Allies will probably find that at leat your attempts at trying to explain how futre tech OUGHT to work interesting. Could you put a link to your sites in you update posts?

Like I said. There is no real true emperor...in the Future. In the present MT and PMT, the Melii and her allies will be linked in an ConFederation...A holy Roman Empire.

The most interesting thing about the Holy Roman Empire after Charlesmagne et Fedrick was that it was niether HOLY nor Roman NOR an EMPIRE. :D It's local Houses ruled their Principalities...and technically the Holiest Emperor ruled over ALL of the Empire...But eventually they only ruled what they could.

We would like to have a speaker. It would make sense for us. In the far future we would lay claim to certain regions of space, but would wander freely.

Our structure might be surprising. Every city we have is an independent state. Our cities are free floating on the ocean, or in deep space. Thus the designation allied states.

So we would send a representative, or representatives from our states. There is a general law for all states called the Commonalitarianism laws, and individual laws for each city.

Welcome to the Confederation of Man...errr...or the Isles of Mara Confederation...err...or the The Third Empire/Imperium of Man. Yeah we need to work on a name for all the time periods. I would prefer one that slowly changes...makes it more organic.

Your Nomadic Ways are the Kin to the Melii. We shall have permanant habitats on several worlds, but the point is not to stay in on spot. And the Journey through the planes/alternate realities is best controled in a small...HEAVILY FORTIFIED area. Incursion into our Zones by outsiders will be met feircly. We will try to co-opt the bastards when we can. And destroy those that we cannnot.

Banishment would be good, or sent to the outposts, something like that. Sent to the void and designated as demon hamsters. Yes, I am thinking of truthsayers like the Bene Gesserit of dune or heavily modded law enforcers who can read the body.

So what about my idea for a Freman's Trail. A lois aux armes? Might makes Right? The battlefeild does not have to be a physical one. And technically no one needs to die. The challenged party gets to choose the battlefeild and the weapons...or maybe they have a grid where one choses xyz and other chooses zyx and the midpoint is the choice...
You see the potential RP value of this? Duels! Sabers...to the death. Or a virtual Reality Fae Hunt...or a real one...scary can of worms!
